  1. Hi I'm driving a Toyota Corolla 93 model. AE101 i think. Its a manual 1.3l. I'm looking for door visors or possibly a spoiler for the car. Can't seem to find a place that sells a door visor that fits, anyone have recomendations for a nice looking spoiler, something not too big or too small and not "too loud" i'm looking for something classy yet stylish and sporty. I know very fussy but does anyone have any recomendations. How much do leather seats cost per set? Thank you, rookie driver looking for help here
  2. Quite nice ! Definitely nicer then fatzilla. Any idea will Borneo Motors bring this in ?
  3. Hi bros/sis Very tempted to ground my ride but have no freaking idea!! any kang tao or stuffs like that?
  4. Toyota introduces the all-new Corolla Verso Toyota Motor Co.,Ltd has issued the following press release: The new Toyota uses design, modularity and quality to attract a broader range of C-segment MPV buyers. Toyota expects to sell 62,000 units in 2004, with sales scheduled to start in May across Europe. The new-generation Toyota Corolla Verso is a totally new car. This vehicle represents an entirely new philosophy - a complete "out of the box" way of thinking has been adopted by Toyota's designers and engineers to bring to its customers a passenger car that will defy conventions. Further to the successful introduction of Yaris, Corolla and Avensis, the all-new Corolla Verso represents the latest expression of Toyota's commitment to the European market. Its "raison d'
  5. having driven my uncle's corolla and found out dat this cute roundish car is such a petrol miser!can ani1 gives an approximate fuel consumption of this car?must be amazing!is this all achieved by the VVTI technology that puts toyota so high above?
  6. do they use the same engine?
  7. I went to test drive the Altis 1.8A just now and am impressed First gear wack till redline and the speedo hit 80km/h - on 1st gear! ... Whilst the auto tranny shifted to 2nd, there was a PPSSSSSTT sound from the VVTi engine. The Sales Engineer says this is the characteristics of the VVTi for optimum performance & fuel efficiency. Those driving the Japanese G9 Corolla 1.5 or 1.6 (the model before Altis), do you hear this PPSSSST sound when you ram your car or almost hit redline?
  8. Who has gone down to see the car??
  9. Check it out at Fensport! http://www.fensport.co.uk/fensportcarsmain.htm 0-60 has been officially timed at 3.49 seconds Check out the AE111 Corolla SR as well. All the mods and engine swaps are and
  10. To: The driver of a red Toyota Corolla starting with SCE xxxx Date: 16/10/03 Time: Approximately 7.10pm Location: Bus-stop filter lane outside Kallang MRT The scenario: A bunch of colleagues and I was crossing the road when your car sped towards us. There was no traffic light at our point of crossing though. You did not slow down upon seeing people on the road, and continued to speed towards us. You gave us a long horn before you initiated your left signal to indicate that you are going to filter into the bus-stop to pick up your wife/gf. For your information, when you gave your signal, you are only about 10 metres from us. Yes, you almost knock us down. Thankfully, 7 of us managed to run onto the pedestrian path in that split second to escape the accident. There are more than 10 witnesses at the bus-stop if that slipped your mind. A colleague quickly jotted your number in both his notepad and mobile phone SMS. A car behind you saw this incident and stopped by us. He told us that he saw no brake light from your car until you drove into the bus-stop lane. He is certain that you were giving a extremely late signal (about 10 metres) to indicate your intention. In addition, he has been following behind your car and is extremely sure you have been travelling at 90km/h, way past the speed limit on that road. Never mind for this incident. My message to this driver: You are lucky you met us, that we are quick enough to literally leaped onto the pedestrian path. What do you think if it was an old man or old woman who is unable to react like us? We have taken your car license plate and should we happen to see such a situation from you again, we will not hestitate to submit your license plate to the Traffic Police for reckless driving. ** Two public members whom we don't even know, resort to pointing their middle finger at you, which you ignored, either you did not see or purposely pretend not to see. Be glad that we give you enough respect not to do likewise. Ed
  11. I have seen alot of people comparing Sunny, Corolla, Lancer and Civic. Much of the comparison actually revolve around Sunny, Corolla and Civic. Altough many think that Civic's VTEC and Corolla VVTI is good and they are powerful and yet fuel-economy and the Sunny drinks fuel like water and lacks of power. May I ask how many of your whom make such remarks actually own a Civic, Corolla and Sunny before? I'm not meaning own one but all the three before. If you never own all of them before, I think it's is unfair to pass remarks just because your friend say so or you have gone thru the 10 mins or so test drive during one of the happy weekend's test drive session.
  12. Have read the thread on comparison of the Toyota Vios & Honda City a while ago. Been looking for thread having comparison on the above-mentioned vehicles as well but not discussed before. Both are considered popular Japanese cars manufacturer locally. Which is better in terms of interior, engine performances, value for money and etc. TC is a DOHC while HC is just SOHC only. Would like to hear from so many experience drivers here. Thanks!
  13. where to get cheap service manual for 2002 corola 1.5lx manual????
  14. Hi ppl, Allow me to first express my grattitude to Singapore Pools for the 4D 1st prize of my car number, one and a half years after the first and only time I ever bought 4D in my entire life. I've reached a certain new milestone in my life. Yes, I am finally sick of driving my Corolla. It's done all the things I'd hope it can do for me, and I've done everything I can do with it. It shall be no more... I hate driving now. I missed the days when I am driven and I could always find loads of time to catch up with current affairs, a tasty novel, or my favourite magazines like Business 2.0. In response to the pleas of our government to constantly upgrade oneself and stay with the times, I need more reading time. Hence I've upgraded to a BMW. I've sold away my Corolla to a nice friend and bought myself an EZ link card instead. I think I might be keen to join Greenpeace as well. Mebbe I will for once feel cash rich again like I used to, to indulge in activities and food I used to love. Perhaps even Diving and Golf! I'll still be joining meetups of cos! Perhaps hitching a ride, or my lovely fleet of BMWs. Thank you for your time.
  15. Would like to know how much is the 2nd hand Corolla VVTI LX or XLI model? How much is the dwnpayment required? From wat I know tis cars are mostly less than 4 yrs old.
  16. Upon closer inspection, found that the sound is there throughout but is more apparent between 2-3k RPMs. I also found out that this whirring goes away when I off the aircon. It comes from around the alternator area. Any ideas on whats causing this and is it covered under warranty?
  17. hi guy, anyone can advise me on where is the fuel line located??? Thanks!
  18. My friend's G6 GLi is going to the scrap yard soon. Am i able to kapok and install the powered folding mirror onto my G8 XLi?
  19. Hi Guys !! ANy recommended air filter for my Toyota Corolla?? Please kindly advise me the price also... Thanks!
  20. Guys, Can you help me with the RSM settings for G9? My current setting is 107% for SP ADJ so that the speedometer is in synch. However, I find that my trip meter also increases by 7% on the RSM. When I change ADJ back to 100%, the tripmeter is OK but speed is not in synch to the speedometer. The rest of the settings should be as the one below right? SP1 - 4P ADJ - 107% SLC - 180km/h TIRE - 100% BTW I am on 205/45/R17 tyres. Thanks!
  21. 2003 Honda Civic 1.6A Vti Premium Edition = $81288 (3 bids non-guarenteed COE) I went with my dad, to Ubi today to look at both cars. Looked at Civic first, the one in the showroom was black in colour, very chiou. Sat inside it and loved the leather interior and driver space. My dad didn't like the back seat because the floorboard behind, was high, in a sense that shen you sat down, your knees would be high up to your tummy level. My dad has a beer belly, so I could imagine the discomfort with this kind of sensation. In addition, taller rear passengers will also be affected. The removal of the middle "bump" is a welcome feature though, all cars should adopt this. The doors close with nice "thud" sound, as expected, but when I tried pressing the sides of the leather-trimmed doors, they moved-in quite a bit, indicating the "hollowness" of the side doors. I expected wood-trim but it wasn't an option. Damn! Test-Drive : I've not driven a VTEC engine more than 2 times in my life, so I'm quite a newbie to it. Did not hear any VTEC activation sounds, though I can feel the car surging with ease when its activated. Acceleration is very smooth and instant, like a sports car. The engine is very responsive and the throttle is very sensitive to the touch. Depress it a little and the RPM shoots up to 3K already. It's really a joy to drive, and the engine sounds so sporty when reved hard that I'm drooling as I type this. The road noise however, is quite apparent, and so is the engine noise. Those opting for a quiet drive should steer clear of this mean machine. The SE told me that as the car is using Bridgestone performance tyres, the road noise will be more apparent. 2003 Toyota Corolla 1.6A VVTi Deluxe = $80888 (classic plan : 3 months COE bidding) After lunch we headed to Borneo Motors and looked at the corolla. The face-lifted corolla now had a more classy front grill and nicer headlights. The back strip right above the number plate has now been elongated and nice chrome platings nicely adorn it. Because of the nice subtle changes at both the front and back of the car, it doesn't resemble a "Fat Pig" as much as before. However, comparing the exterior to the Honda, the Honda is the clear winner. I think no one will argue that. The corolla comes with 14" alloys(Civic has 15") and I think that's a BIG NoNo. The interior of the corolla is what captivated me and my dad. My dad was like, "No need to think already, get this!". Classy Biege leather and tasteful walnut woodgrain embraced the "continental-looking" interior of the corolla, I felt like a CEO in the car, heehee. The driver space was as good as the civic's, but the rear seats are more spacious and comfortable. I think its because the Corolla's siting position is higher, so your legs are more comfortable, and also, its easier to enter and exit the vehicle. Interior build quality is definately better than the civic, cos everything feels solid. Door closes with a nice thud as well and I prefer the door handles of the corolla(more classy i think). The lever that opens the fuel cap and boot are UGLY and cheapo. I mean did Toyota overlook this part. It's really an eyesore that I think of it. Thankfully that lever is under and beside the driver's seat, so you won't see it while driving. Honda's lever is much better designed. The speedometer is a sporty blue colour similar to civic's, and the aircon is climate-control Test Drive : I braked and the whole car jerked! Realised that it was using front and rear disk brakes, but then the brake pedal is still too sensitive man, maybe need to get used to it. Acceleration was nothing spectacular, now that I've driven the civic, so I now use it to benchmark other cars. I didn't have a good route to test the car as during that time, there was quite a lot of traffic at Ubi already. All I can say is that the corolla is not as REV-friendly as the civic, however the acceleration is also very smooth although slightly slower. Road noise was noticeably lower than the civic and I couldn't feel the road vibrations at all. It's really a very comfortable car to drive. Damn, what if I fall asleep while driving it?!? OK, that's about it, my personal opinion and nothing more.
  22. I need some advice what should I do and what parts should I change during the 10,000km servicing for my Corolla 1.3M (2000) they call it G8? the new "elephant" corolla is G9? this is what i know i should do but maybe u can suggest more things? change engine oil. (amsoil oil?) change oil filter. flush engine (some chemical pour in engine, drain out and pour engine oil) injector cleaner (some liquid pour in petrol tank mix with full tank of petrol) what else should i request to be check?
  23. Hi All , Can anyone tell me whether my car, Toyota Corolla 1.3XLI 1999 model, able to use the Amsoil 5W-30 engine oil. Is there any ill effect from using it??? Is it not recommended... I do not have the manual for the car... so can't check whether recommended by Toyota or not... Please kindly help me guys!... thanks!
