  1. the highlighted portion of the report is interesting. cos i had been thinking to myself recently on this too. speed and fuel efficiency. as it is known to many that if we go faster than a certain speed, we will not be using fuel optimally. with govt now wants to be seen as 'green', and also control the consumption of fuel radically will it before long they will limit all cars to go no faster than their 'optimal' speed? interesting read http://www.howstuffworks.com/question477.htm they have much to gain on this and much less to lose.. likely fewer accidents, cleaner air.. etc HOWEVER, limiting top speed of a car will force automobile manufacturer to produce engines with more torque. this will be the competitive advantage against competitors. and have more torque is required for cars then to overtake, since all cars has similar top speed. hmmm just ranting, me.. cheers -------------------------- Ferrari, tobacco and supercars The European Union's Health Commissioner Markos Kyprianou has written directly to Ferrari, asking the company to end its tobacco sponsorship in Formula 1, arguing that it undermines the goal European goal of ending all cigarette advertising at sporting events. Ferrari is banned from using the Marlboro logos at most events but continues to run the cars in Marlboro colours in Bahrain, Monaco, China and Japan. Images of those races are then beamed into European markets, despite the EU's ban and a determined attempt to stop such activities by the World Health Organisation. It seems that Kyprianou is now trying to shame Ferrari into action. "I am certain that finding alternative sponsorship will not constitute a great challenge for such a successful enterprise as Ferrari whose image would no longer be associated with a killing habit," Kyprianou wrote, in a letter which was clearly designed for public consumption. "The best solution would be that Ferrari and Philip Morris proactively decide to end the current sponsorship agreement immediately, a gesture that would be greatly appreciated." However it should also be looked at taking into account a far bigger picture. The European Commission is keen to reduce emissions from road cars and there is a suggestion that the EU may outlaw supercars. This is due to come up for debate in October. The report into the matter has been written by Liberal Democrat Chris Davies, who is a member of the European Parliament. He wants to ban cars that are capable of doing more than 101mph and calling for health warnings in automotive advertising, pointing out the dangers of CO2 emissions. It would also be made illegal for adverts to say that their cars go faster than the national speed limit. Much of this may be political puff but there is no doubt that Davies wants more aggressive mandatory cuts in CO2 emissions and will sacrifice other parts of the legislation to get this agreed. There is no doubt that the EU may be more helpful over the supercar issue if Ferrari plays ball over tobacco advertising. http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns19567.html
  2. Probably not applicable to local Nissan cars but just sharing info. What is a "fob" anyway? http://www.cellular-news.com/story/23944.php Mobile Phones Could Wipe Car Ignition Fobs Owners of some new Nissan motor cars are being advised to keep their mobile phones away from the keyless-ignition fobs which are used to start their cars, as the phones can "wipe" the fob memory. The problem is limited to the 2007 Altima and G35, and the problem can be avoided by keeping mobile phones at least an inch away from the fob. The Tennessean newspaper said that if owners send or receive calls while their phones are touching the fob, there's a chance the fob's electronic code could be erased. Once erased, the fobs cannot be reprogrammed, and owners can restart their engines only by using the spare fobs sold with their cars, a Nissan spokesman told the newspaper. Nissan expects to be able to issue new fobs within a few months, and is currently replacing damaged fobs free of charge. Brent Adams, general manager of Action Nissan on Thompson Lane, told The Tennessean that only a few customers have complained. "(Nissan officials) are doing the right thing by letting the dealers know," he said.

  6. hi, i found one morning that my car felt slightly heavier, since then my FC has been higher than usual and i been experiencing bad radio reception when i drive, yet my HU plays CDs very well. is it posible that there could be a connection between the 2 issues? bad electricals or something?
  7. Brothers, Have a problem with increased fuel consumption recently on my Optra5 When I recall back the only thing that I have changed recently is that I upgraded the stock speakers (all four doors) and installed and amp. By any chance does the worsening FC have anything to do with this upgrade Or could it be something else and this being some funny coincidence. I am thinking I may need to send my car in to SA for an inspection. Grateful for any advice on this matter.
  8. Found out that my rear tyre is slowly leaking air. However, when I went back to Stamford to have it checked, there seems to be no problem. The guy checked using the water test, presumably to find any small holes/leaks. When I asked him if it could be the air valve leak, there was none either. So I'm just wondering what could be the cause of the slow air leak? The rims and tyres are new and there is no nail puncture. Any bros can advise will be welcome.
  9. Haiz... If only S'pore would start to sell Volvo Body kits ...... Damn man the car

Yesterday saw the stain already dried and tried all ways (using another wax to clean it, using kiwi, tire foam, autoglym fast glass protection etc) but just could not get rid of the stubborn stain ...now got ugly white stain on it...heart pain man What should I do? Please advise... Thanks
