  1. http://transport.asiaone.com/news/general/story/cyclist-spotted-riding-along-mce-during-morning-rush-hour SINGAPORE - A cyclist was seen pedalling on the road shoulder of the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) this morning. A Stomp reader told the citizen journalism website that he had thought it was a motorcyclist. He said it was during the morning rush hour at about 8.30am when he noticed the cyclist entering the MCE from the East Coast Parkway (ECP) towards the city. He told Stomp: "Initially, at the first glance it looked like a motorcyclist, but I was shocked to realise it was a cyclist pedaling on the road shoulder! "I hope LTA can do something about this incident." Cyclists here face a fine of $20 for riding on an expressway, which is against the Road Traffic (Expressway Traffic) Rules.
  2. Hi guys, I've just been involved in a low-speed collision with this kid on a bicycle. What happened was he cycled against the flow of traffic (very fast for a bike too) around a blind corner just when I came through the corner. I managed to brake to a stop, but he didn't and he collided with my bumper and his head cracked my windscreen. He had a small cut and that was it while my bumper and windscreen are now both cracked. Question is: cyclists have no insurance... does that mean that I have to foot the repair bill myself?
  3. Good idea, can avoid cycling under the noon sun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUxyiT8GAxI
  4. The cyclists are trying to out-do one another - throwing own bike now! Cyclist charged with throwing bike at car after honking incident Published on Jan 14, 2015 12:13 PM 524 30 1 0 PRINT EMAIL Canadian Jason Blair Unger, 39, allegedly threw the bicycle on the bonnet of Mr Woo Wing Onn's car on Selegie Road on the morning of Oct 17 last year. -- ST PHOTO: WONG KWAI CHOW By Elena Chong SINGAPORE - A cyclist who allegedly threw his bike at a car after believing its driver was honking his horn at him was charged in court with mischief on Wednesday. Canadian Jason Blair Unger, 39, allegedly threw the bicycle on the bonnet of Mr Woo Wing Onn's car on Selegie Road on Oct 17 last year. Dents and scratches were caused to the front part of the vehicle, resulting in damage costing about $2,220. Unger sought an adjournment to engage a lawyer. His bail was extended and he will be back in court on Jan 28. The incident was caught on Mr Woo's in-car camera and he posted the video on citizen journalism website Stomp four days later. Mr Woo said he was driving home with his wife when he honked at a taxi which was travelling slowly and hogging the road. But a cyclist who was just up ahead thought he was honking at him instead and became enraged. The maximum penalty for mischief is two years' jail and a fine. - See more at: http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/courts-crime/story/cyclist-charged-throwing-bike-car-after-honking-incident-20150114#sthash.j2WzuhI7.dpuf
  5. In my daily drives, I have encountered many instances of cyclist speeding up and trying to beat the "flashing green man" at pedestrian crossings, resulting in near-misses for both drivers and even fellow pedestrians. Just yesterday, I witnessed this SBS feeder bus making a left turn. After the pedestrians had finished crossing, the bus started to move off and all of a sudden, the driver had to brake hard when a cyclist suddenly appeared from the left-side of the half-turned bus and cut in front of the turning bus. The bus stopped inches from the cyclist but instead of being thankful for not being runned-over, the cyclist stopped in front of the bus and started gesturing at the poor driver and also hurled verbal abuses.I have to salute the bus captain for being cool-headed and he just ignored the cyclist and continued his journey after a brief 30-sec commotion. Some cyclists want the best of both worlds, " Green light for vehicles, go! Green man for pedestrians, go!". I feel strongly that cyclists should dismount and push their bicycles at zebra-crossings and also other pedestrian crossings. It may be inconvenient, but it may save lives, As a fellow road-user, I feel that everyone has a role to play to ensure road safety for all.

  7. This video of a Caucasian Foreign Talent cyclist dangerously cutting across four lanes of traffic was captured by an in-car dash cam on Wednesday morning during the peak hour traffic. The cyclist is seen cutting across all four lanes in front of several cars and causing a car to have to break before overtaking him. When the driver who took the video honked at the cyclist for his dangerous behaviour, instead of acknowledging it and being more careful, he stared at the driver and slowed down even further, blocking the driver's way. He even swerved in front of the car and forced the driver to have to slam breaks. In an interview with WanBao, the driver explained that the man also raised his voice and was provoking her. This incident happened along Ophir Road. See the video here:
  8. Twice spotted 2 cyclists on the road shoulder of AYE towards Jurong.in the mornings around 0715hrs. Best of all, they are cycling from Clementi Rd exit towards NUH ... yup, against traffic. And not to mention, they are side by side and have a nice conversation by the looks of it. Was really surprised. Will post some pictures or videos next time.
  9. Hi do anyone of you fell that the "Share the road 1.5m" is b-------t? Sick and tired of seeing cyclist cycling on the road and even expressway on nicholl highway before kpe entrance when they can use the pavement They simply cycle in the left lane forcing cars to drift out of the left lane to siam them, some even more funny in the middle of the freaking lane, and some simply cycle left to right without even checking safety, endangering themself and the cars that siam them. Why ah, why LTA approve these cyclist with no number plate, no road tax, no regard of safety? sometimes at night other places i can see cyclist in a group of maybe 10 occupying lane 2 and 3, forcing vehicle to drive on lane 1, their ah gong owns the road? TP bike ride past also bo chup maybe because they have helmets and cycling gears on... like that means can endanger themself and us??? Must really wait till someone get killed then take action? i can understand cycling as a hobby but can do it in a safe place so u can go home safely to your loved ones and we can also??

The accident took place at Paya Lebar Road, towards Upper Paya Lebar Road. SINGAPORE: A 44-year-old cyclist died in a road traffic accident involving a lorry on Sunday morning. The accident took place at Paya Lebar Road, towards Upper Paya Lebar Road. Police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they received a call about the incident at around 10am. SCDF dispatched an ambulance which arrived at the scene within nine minutes. However, the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. SCDF said the man had sustained trauma injuries. Police said the driver, who was not injured, has been arrested and investigations are ongoing. Channel NewsAsia understands both the cyclist and lorry driver are from China. - CNA/nd BAAL : Just a couple of weeks back, I was at a huge cross junction at Paya Lebar area. iirc, it was the junction in which 1 side is MacPherson Road. 12. Hoho......finally lim kopi liao. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/police-investigating/861958.html SINGAPORE: Police say they are investigating a case of road rage along Keppel Bay Drive last month, as well as the case of a cyclist who was captured on video stopping traffic along Keppel Road. The comment follows a Facebook posting by Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Health Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim earlier on Friday. Dr Faishal said he had been asked for his opinion about the recent incidents involving a cyclist and other motorists. He added that police are already investigating both incidents. In a response on Friday, police say they received a call at about 7.44am on September 16 for assistance along Keppel Bay Drive. When they arrived, it was established that an alleged case of road rage had occurred. As for the case of the cyclist in the video which has gone viral, traffic police are investigating the case. They have contacted the cyclist concerned. Police say appropriate actions will be taken against the parties involved if they are found to have flouted any rules. - CNA/gn

  16. I believe owning a Lamborghini is surely a proud thing for pretty much everyone in the world. When you drive a car like the Aventador, for example, passers-by will most likely think that you're one hell of a successful person - besides the natural jealousy that follows after. It seems not everyone can contain their 'feelings' when they come across such successful people. The cyclist in the video is perhaps a good example. While the driver of the black Lamborghini Aventador is trying to pass the road, this cyclist simply stops right in front of the car. Even worse, the cyclist stares down on the owner and even scolds him. I can't seem to figure out if it's because the elderly cyclist thinks that others should respect him instead of him respecting others or that he thinks car drivers should always prioritise cyclists. Or, perhaps this cyclist just doesn't really like cars after all, which is why he is riding a bicycle in the first place?
  17. Not sure if this has been shared here. This ang moh has got to be the winner of this prestigous award. Accidents do happen. One way or another. One fine day, he try his stance on some ah bengs...good luck ang moh. http://ride.asiaone.com/news/general/story/woman-driver-no-reason-rage

  19. He had escaped a blaze at his workplace in the Jurong Industrial Estate four days ago, as he was out on a job. But Malaysian Tan Kian Eang, 45, was not so lucky early yesterday morning, as his bicycle was involved in a collision with an SBS Transit bus at the junction of Jalan Boon Lay and International Road. Paramedics from the Singapore Civil Defence Force arrived shortly after the accident at around midnight and pronounced Mr Tan dead at the scene. The Singaporean bus driver has been suspended pending police investigations. This is the second fatality from a bus collision in less than two weeks.
