  1. Happened to saw this truck driver door his door to spit while on the move along CTE this morning.......really crazy stunt.
  2. i reported to traffic police, got a call from an investigating officer to say that they won't be investigating cause there are no injuries. I wonder if I have been a motorcyclist or a pedestrian if it would be a different story. They driver also made a false report to say that I hit him. Again the police say it is not an offence to make false claims but i am at liberty to take up a civil suit. I have already made a full claim! The investigating officer told me that they are now looking into catching people who drive against the flow of traffice but not interested in car reversing on 4 lane road. So now it is okay to reverse on main road, make sure you get into an accident that does not injure anyone. In this way you won't be charged for dangerous driving. What do you think?
  3. You know, paying careful attention for oncoming vehicles while crossing the street is actually a pretty obvious thing to do. However, it seems that there will always be some people who are just ignorant enough that they tend to jaywalk. The woman in the accompanying video is a good yet unfortunate example. You see, when you jaywalk, not only are you putting your life in danger but also that of other people's. If a vehicle happens to be approaching while you are jaywalking, the driver of the vehicle will be forced to slam the brakes all of a sudden. As a result, other vehicles behind the vehicle approaching you may happen to hit it if the drivers fail to stop their cars at the right time. With that being said, do you actually realise how dangerous you are becoming by simply crossing the street without paying attention? Well, I won't lie to you, though. Most of us probably do jaywalk every once in a while. However, after watching the video, I shall always keep in mind to refrain from doing so as I value my life. I don't know what the woman was thinking when she started walking towards the middle of the street. Nonetheless, while she was crossing it halfway, she seemed to finally realise that she shouldn't have actually started crossing in the first place as it was nearly certain she would get trapped on the centre double line. Unfortunately, she decided to take the worst option, to turn back! Let me remind you, when you cross the street, especially if you're already halfway, you'll probably be better off going forward or halt when necessary rather than turning back. Turning back is very dangerous! Moreover, the woman in the video didn't watch out for any oncoming traffic prior to turning back. Well, I'll have to be honest with you. It didn't really come as a surprise seeing the woman get hit by the scooter. The scooter rider, however, didn't seem like he was paying attention, either. Had he paid more attention on the road ahead, he should, at least, have been able to decelerate. Furthermore, jaywalkers often have erratic behaviour that they may turn back or even jump when motorists least expect it.
  4. Got a friend asked me, as a driver, do i know a list of dangerous or "dirty" roads/junctions to avoid. Frankly speaking, i don't have such a list. Anyone of you have? My friend gave me a head start: - Pioneer road north towards NTU and PIE junction. The yellow box area is too huge, traffic light beaters can come out of no where. He stays near there and had saw many near misses before.
  5. This happened this morning within the HDB estate, after exiting MSCP, but before entering the main road. Dangerous lane cutter. I know i am a bit slow within the estate area, but there are lots of people walking within the estate area in the morning, sometimes thinking they are the king of the road, which is why i exercise a bit of caution. Had this guy misjudged his distance or there was somebody coming in from that exit/entrance, confirmed crash. So impatient to get to work ah? Gave me a little heart attack in the morning...
  6. Dear driver of white car driving from SLE to TPE. I would like to extend my sincere apologies for failing to ensure a safe distance before lane changing to the 2nd lane (from 3rd) after coming out of the tunnel (CTE). I cannot see your car plate number clearly but the incident took place at around 1045 pm. Thank you for being vigilant and slowing down to avoid the collision.
  7. note the motocyclist with pillion rider Was turning right and did not see this coming....good thing I have some gap to react...to take a short cut like that is too reckless... For the record, I did went over and talk to the guy so that he understands his life should be more precious than the little time saved double post...server lag?
  8. Started this poll mainly because i saw two different honda civic cutting lanes dangerously all in one single day. One along CTE, the other along Upper Paya Lebar Road. Both narrowly avoided accidents with the cars in front, one almost rear ended me... Not saying all honda civic drivers are the same, just so got two in a row on one single day. V-tec power eh? Hate the attitude of not signalling and cutting dangerously. How hard it is to push on the signal lever? Wait till they got cut and crushed by heavy vehicles without signaling then they know how it feels
  9. Hi there, Was driving on 150712 @ ard 5.20pm on Jln Boon Lay towards Jln Bahar direction. Encountered a driver who swerved into my lane (w/o signalling), just to 'siam' a slow moving lorry on the 3rd lane. I'm thinking of sending the video to the TP. Anyone had any experience? What will the dangerous driver get? A warning letter from TP? Video
  10. Beautiful creatures, but also fierce. Those venturing there, becareful. I went to the boardwalk before, luckily never met one. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...d_at_pasir.html
  11. Last night at around 8pm, while I was driving on the first lane along Upper Cross Street just after People
  12. Another case of cabbie kena injured......unprovoked.......seems like driving taxi here is becoming more dangerous liao..... http://sg.news.yahoo.com/another-taxi-driv...ked-attack.html
  13. this van has been tailgating the Forte on my right for quite a distance. suddenly he just cut into my lane to filter left to Hougang Ave 2. due to the wide angle of the lens it may not seem close, but in fact its damn close. have emailed his reckless driving act to the TP.
  14. I was driving at about 50km/h on the extreme left lane at Sembawang road. Just at Sembawang Camp bus stop, I notice this SMRT bus stopped at the bus stop boarding passengers. It was a weekend around noon time where the road was almost empty. The traffic light was green just ahead of the bus stop. The next thing the bus driver did was unbelievable, he literally floor board his throttle and just cut into my path. I sound my horn and jam braked. Guess what the bus driver did next? He wind down his wind at started shouting at me pointing to the GIVE WAY TO BUS SIGN. WTF, I got out of my car and approached the driver and told him that, the traffic light is still green and there is no traffic ahead of me and I got the right of way. The way he driver is dangerous. The Ah Tiong still shouting and point to the yellow box in Chinese and could not even speak a word of English! I told him to call SMRT command centre when every driver have access to. He could not even understand that. He was shouting very violently pointing to the yellow bus lane box!!! I went to get my mobile to call the police by then the driver drove off. I complained to the police on the dangerous driving and they advise me to lodge a complaint with SMRT. So I did go down to Yishun bus interchange and made a complaint against the bus driver and also called the SMRT hotline to lodge a complaint. A week later, a lady from SMRT call and just said that they have warn the driver to be careful during driving and did counsel him. I told her that is not enough as it was a matter of time that he will kill someone on the road. How do I be assured that such an action has been carried out by SMRT? I told her I need a written explanation from SMRT and this is the response by her. Dear Mr...... Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience. We certainly do not condone such behaviour and do be assured that we are investigating the matter and will take the appropriate disciplinary action against the driver concerned. We will continue to reiterate to the driver concerned and the other drivers on the importance of slowing down and exercising better judgement when negotiating bends, the importance of checking for oncoming vehicles and signaling in advance prior to changing lanes, and adhering to other traffic rules and regulations. We will continue to monitor our drivers
  15. Being sleepy behind the wheel is almost as bad as drinking and driving, suggests a new study from France. The study, published as a letter in the Archives of Internal Medicine, found that drivers who were either drunk or sleepy were at least twice as likely to be responsible for a vehicle accident compared to their well-rested or sober counterparts. Dr Christopher Drake, an associate scientist at the Henry Ford Hospital Sleep Disorders and Research Center in Detroit, said the findings do not change what was already known, but the study is still "interesting". "We know from experimental studies that just four hours of sleep loss will produce as much impairment as a six pack. If you have a whole night of sleep loss, that's equivalent to having a blood alcohol content of 0.19," Dr Drake, who was not involved with the new research, told Reuters Health. Under the direction of Dr Nicholas Moore at the Centre Hospitalo-Universitaire de Bordeaux in France, researchers analysed information from 679 drivers who were admitted to a hospital in southwest France for more than 24 hours because of a serious accident between 2007 and 2009. The researchers used information from driver questionnaires and police reports to determine what may have contributed to the accidents. Drivers reported what medications they were on, their alcohol use and how sleepy they had been before the crash. Patient files provided information on blood alcohol levels. The majority of the injured drivers were under 55 years old and men. Over half were on a motorcycle, about one-third of the drivers were in a car and 10 per cent were peddling a bicycle at the time of the accident. The police determined 355 of the drivers were responsible for their respective crash. From that, Moore and his colleagues found that being between the ages of 18 and 29 years old, driving a car, drinking alcohol and being sleepy were all tied to an increased risk of causing an accident. Surprisingly, taking medications that carry warnings about affecting a driver's abilities - one of the researchers' main focuses - was tied to a lower risk of causing an accident. Dr Moore told Reuters Health that may be because people taking those medications are more aware of their side effects. "Medicinal drugs might be an issue to keep an eye on and warn people about, but it's not the main issue," he said. One way for people to reduce their accident risk is to take a nap before they hit the road, according to Dr Moore. "Don't hesitate if you're tired to take a short nap or drink a few cups of coffee. And if you drink coffee, it will take some time to take effect," he said. Dr Drake added, however, that coffee's effectiveness can wear off over time. "Anytime you're feeling sleepy behind the wheel is a danger sign," he said. The standard techniques of turning on the air conditioner or blasting the radio only mask the signs of sleepiness - they don't make it go away. "They're good to get you to the next exit, but it's not going to get you home," Dr Drake said. There are some laws in the United States to punish sleepy drivers, but Dr Drake told Reuters Health they are hard to enforce unless someone gets into an accident. "It's very difficult. There is no breathalyser for sleepiness," he said. The study did have some limitations. Some of the questions are based on the patients' own reports, which may be subjective. Also, there is no way to know how many accidents sleepiness actually caused. Overall, Dr Moore said the best advice is, "don't drink and please sleep". "There is no substitute for sleep," said Dr Drake. Source: http://www.todayonline.com/Focus/Health/ED...angerous--Study & http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/T...ory_805380.html

  17. I am saying this because I nearly gotten into an accident because of debris. I was travelling on AYE on Monday night. There is this piece of large wooden board on the lane 2 (no idea who drop it). A car in front of me (around 20m) went over it and the board broke into pieces and 1 of them flew towards my car. Luckily I quickly brake and the board hit my bumper. If it hits my windscreen and smash it.... I jialat already...

  19. http://www.asiaone.com/News/Latest%2BNews/...111-321218.html Nuclear scientist killed in Tehran car blast: media Ahmadi Roshan was killed and the two wounded passengers were taken to hospital, Bratloo said. -AFP Wed, Jan 11, 2012 AFP TEHRAN - An Iranian nuclear scientist was killed and two people injured when a magnetic bomb attached to a car by a duo on a motorbike exploded outside a Tehran university on Wednesday, Iranian news agencies said. The person killed was identified by several media as Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, a scientist who worked on separating gases at the Natanz uranium enrichment facility, according to the website of a different university from which he graduated around a decade ago. "This morning a motorbiker attached a bomb to a Peugeot 405, which exploded," the deputy governor of Tehran province, Safar Ali Bratloo, was quoted as saying by the ILNA news agency. The explosion occurred outside the east Tehran campus of Allameh Tabatai University, at its social sciences faculty. Ahmadi Roshan was killed and the two wounded passengers were taken to hospital, Bratloo said. Sharif University, Tehran's elite technical university where the slain scientist had studied, said Ahmadi Roshan was specialised in making polymeric membranes used to separate gas. Iran uses gas separation to enrich uranium. Three other Iranian scientists were killed in 2010 and 2011 when their cars blew up in similar circumstances. At least two of the scientists had also been working on nuclear activities. One of the attacks occurred exactly two years ago, on January 11, 2010, killing scientist Masoud Ali Mohammdi. The current head of Iran's atomic organisation, Fereydoun Abbasi, escaped another such attempt in November 2010, getting out of his car with his wife just before the attached bomb exploded. Those attacks were viewed by Iranian officials as assassination operations carried out by Israel's Mossad intelligence service, possibly with help from US counterparts. The latest blast comes amid extremely high international tensions over Iran's nuclear programme, which the West and Israel believe conceals research to develop an atomic bomb. Israel has threatened to launch air strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities. The United States has said "all options are on the table" in terms of dealing with Iran - including military action. Tehran, which has repeatedly denied that its nuclear programme is for anything other than peaceful purposes, has threatened to close the strategic Strait of Hormuz at the entrance to the Gulf if it is attacked. Twenty per cent of the world's oil flows through that strait. Wednesday's car explosion followed confirmation on Monday by the International Atomic Energy Agency that Iran had started uranium enrichment at a fortified underground bunker southwest of Tehran, in Fordo. The United States, Britain, France, Germany and Italy have viewed that development with alarm, saying it was a violation of UN Security Council resolutions on Iran.
  20. If any forum bros /sis known him, please convey to him that he is endangering people's lives with his abrupt cutting of lane along CTE towards city this morning at ard 740am+... nearly clipped my car and frightened my wife who is pregnant... He does not have the common courtesy to apologised even at fault and continue to drive and act as if nothing happen despite me horning him... To this driver of red honda fit/jazz, if you are man enough, msg me
  21. Drove along Cluny Road about ten minutes ago. Curvy road, double-white lines. Right after a blind bend, there was an accident (truck langgar MPV). Drivers/passengers milling about on the road itself attempting to direct traffic, but pointless because you're basically on the accident scene before you see them. I advised one of the chaps there (a middle-aged Malay uncle) to put out a hazard triangle, then realised this was useless advice, because he would probably have done it if he had it. Anyway, please drive (especially) carefully there. I admit I had to brake quite hard because I was taking the curves in my usual spirited fashion. Lucky my brakes are good and my reflexes OK. EDIT: Forgot to mention, this is in the direction toward Bt Timah Rd (away from Holland Rd). But be cautious coming the other way too, because people may swerve trying to avoid the obstruction.
  22. Are our Roads becoming dangerous because of young brats? Recently I was driving as usual on a 60kmph road in the middle lane. All of a sudden a black Hyundai Matrix with a P-Plate swerve and filter from the right into my path barely 2 meters from my front bumper. I had to brake to prevent hitting the Matrix. There were no signs of apology and the Matrix drove in a brazen way. Hence I decided to take a look and filtered right and paced the car. It was a teenage girl apparently unaware of her deed continuing to chat with a male passenger happily. As she was not too attractive I didn't take a longer look and decided to filter in front of her. I gave her about half car length with signal lights, I think she felt belittled as my car was incidentally more than double her car both in price and performance, she quickly filtered left. So i follow suite and since we were both were at about 80kmph, i decided to quickly follow the speed limit and kept at 55kmph.. for some distance toward a traffic light. While doing so, i looked at the rear view mirror. The teenage girl made some signs and hand gestures which I do not understand. She show a hand sign as if filtering, followed by a "so what" gesture. I didn't respond but kept looking. At that point we were stationary at the red lights. I kept looking... I think they couldn't take it anymore and got annoyed. The male passenger show his middle finger. I saw a immediate reaction from the teenage girl as if trying to push away his hand... then they started to smile and laugh. As I am a Methodist, I have a cross at my rear windshield. The male passenger and the female started to make sort of a "Praying" hand gesture and jeering at the same time. I kept my calm. So when the lights turned green, I drove on and as they passed me on the left I showed them a $50 note and make a gesture that says "you do not have money". Through some means I have identified the duo and their residence. If you were in my shoes what would you have done?
