  1. hi, i am confused after some thoughtt on this movie i watch last sun. anyone can chip in to explained? the part i cannotmunderstand is when kitty teleport bishop back few days ago to China from moscow to warn the rest of the x men not to go to moscow as going there will result in sentinel attack and killing all of tthem, the story then continues from the temple in china which is the past where they all gather to discuss on sending wolverine back to 1973. however when wolverine is sent back from 2023 to 1973 and when things changed, he wokr up in 2023 in the school amd supposing only himself knows what happen. why is then bishop not waking up in the present day just like wolverine after being teleported back a few days to warn the rest to find everything had changed. for example he may wake up in another country where after he warn the rest not to move from china to moscow, the rest of the xmen moves from china to say japan. this is like inception liao. not to mention we now dun know what happen from 1973 to 2023 since everything has been wiped clean. i wonder did wolverine still gets his metal claws etc or prof x and mangeto now are best of buddy.
  2. Not many notices but 2014 share the same dates & days with 1997 ... Will history repeats itselfs ... Happening in 1997 Asian financial crisis, 1997-1998 The Asian financial crisis started in Thailand with the collapse of the Thai baht in July 1997 and quickly spread to the rest of the region. What began as a currency crisis soon affected the wider economy and led to economic downturns in several countries. Singapore was not directly hit but suffered the spillover effects of the economic slowdown among its regional neighbours and fell into recession in the second half of 1998. Realising that stimulating domestic demand was not a viable option in a downturn caused by external circumstances, the Singapore government implemented various measures to help ease the cost burden on businesses and individuals. Just before the Thai baht collapsed in July 1997, it had been the target of intense speculative attacks. For a while, the Thai government managed to defend the currency, which had been pegged to the United States (US) dollar. However on 2 July 1997, it announced that it would no longer intervene and would allow the baht to float. The sharp depreciation of the baht against the US dollar began that same day. Given its close economic linkages with other Asian countries, Singapore could not escape the effects of the financial crisis facing its regional neighbours despite strong economic fundamentals. Overall, the Singapore economy contracted by 1.4% in 1998 in terms of real gross domestic product (GDP). This was the first decline in real GDP since the 1985 recession and came after an average growth of 14% per annum from 1986 to 1997. The impact on Singapore was indirect but wide-ranging. Many companies went out of business, leaving their workers without a job. To survive, other companies cut cost by retrenching staff, suspending new recruitment and reducing wages. In the last quarter of 1997, 4,280 workers were retrenched, more than three times higher compared to the previous quarter. The situation worsened in 1998, with quarterly retrenchments averaging about 7,300. Company closures and downsizing also translated into lower demand for commercial, industrial and residential properties, which put downward pressure on property prices and rentals. Stock prices fell and this had a negative wealth effect which further weakened consumer sentiment. for more of the report, link : http://infopedia.nl.sg/articles/SIP_1530_2009-06-09.html It all started from Thailand and now Thailand Gov is unstable with peoples still camping outside Gov buildings. Hope this will not repeat again in 2014 ....
  3. Singapore enjoys first widespread rain in more than 20 days, one of its longest dry spells A 12-hour weather forecast map for Singapore for 6pm on Saturday, Feb 8, 2014, showing thundery showers in the northern and eastern parts of the island. Singapore enjoyed its first widespread rain in more than 20 days on Saturday, after what was likely its longest dry spell in the last five years. Singapore enjoyed its first widespread rain in more than 20 days, after what was likely its longest dry spell in the last five years. On Saturday afternoon, thunderstorms brought moderate to heavy rain over the northen, eastern and central parts of the island, tapering off to light rain in the north by about 6.30 pm. The dry spell had come about because the north-east monsoon's dry phase had set in earlier than usual this year. Last month, Singapore saw just 75.4mm of rainfall, a fraction of the usual amount. But despite being welcome relief from the parched skies of the last three weeks, the rain did not help temper worsening air quality. The Pollutant Standards Index (PSI), a measure of air quality, crept steadily up throughout the day on Saturday. At 6am the 24-hour PSI was between 24 and 33, while at 6pm it was between 33 and 44. It is not clear what caused the elevated PSI, but a dry spell has worsened hot spots from slash-and-burn fires in Indonesia's Riau province, while Mount Sinabung in northern Sumatra has been putting out pyroclastic ash since last September. Rainfall for the next week is likely to be below average for most parts of Singapore, said the Meteorological Services Singapore in its forecast for the first fortnight of February. 4. from Yahoo : GOCE satellite set to crash down to Earth in coming days, but experts aren't sure where it will land A European space satellite that has been mapping the Earth’s gravitational field is set to crash down to Earth in the coming days, and it could provide a “real treat” for space watchers. But could GOCE (pronounced “GO-chay”), which is set to make an “uncontrolled entry” into the atmosphere, present a risk to anyone on the ground? “For the most part, these uncontrolled re-entries are the norm,” Space.com’s Tariq Malik told Yahoo News in a phone interview. “It’s not so much that we’ve been lucky to not get hit by one as it is the planet is so big.” The European Space Agency does not know exactly when GOCE, short for Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer, will crash to Earth, and experts there don't know exactly where it will land. But the general consensus is that it will re-enter Earth’s atmosphere sometime between Friday and Monday. “It’s rather hard to predict where the spacecraft will re-enter and impact,” the ESA’s Rune Floberghagen told the New York Times. “Concretely our best engineering prediction is now for a re-entry on Sunday, with a possibility for it slipping into early Monday.” And if all goes well, people may be able to watch the satellite safely enter the atmosphere and explode into a fireball of smaller fragments. “The one thing I’m really wondering about is where the re-entry might be visible from,” Malik said. “It’s very instructive to watch this stuff burn up. From the ground, it’s like watching a giant fireball. If that happens, viewers on the ground could really get a treat.” Watch your head as it might fall onto you .... Wonder where is a nice spot to watch the re-entry, Mount Faber or Telok Blangah Height garden ...

  10. Yahoo report : Apple sells over 5 million iPhone 5, supply constraints loom (Reuters) - Apple Inc sold over 5 million iPhone 5 smartphones in the three days since it hit stores, but shares sagged as the company struggled to meet demand. While sales were solid, the company said on Monday it had run out of its initial supply and many pre-orders were scheduled to go out in October. Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook said the company is "working hard to build enough iPhone 5s for everyone." Expectations for new Apple products were so high - some analysts forecast Apple selling as many as 10 million phone over the weekend - that Wall Street was not wowed by the latest numbers. The stock was down 1.7 percent at $688.64 in afternoon trade. Given the demand, Apple, the world's most valuable company, is being closely watched for any supplier problems that may slow down the smartphone production. 17. I need to send my car to Johor workshop for some minor engine work. The job needs 2 days to complete. I wonder what do you all do if a job needs 2 days? Rent a room in johor and stay there overnight? Or come back to SG and return the next day (sounds quite tedious).
  18. Hi all. Currently on PS3 (225/45R17) and has tracked with them at PG 5 times and about 30 hard laps in total (not counting warm ups/downs). This is over a period of a year and in-between just normal driving for about 15k km since new. Camber is F3.0 and R2.7. The thread depth is still good but some parts are torn and generally very rough. In my recent track day, I can feel they are rather 'oily' just after 3 laps. Back on normal roads they are still as good. So now thinking whether to change them. Hope can get some recommendations on lasting tyres at least like PS3 but with better grip and cheaper. Is it safe to get those 2nd hand ones from Still Racing or AL Tyres? Thanks in advance for your comments.
