  6. Crude falls to below US$100.84 in Asian trade Mon, Mar 24, 2008 Reuters SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - OIL fell more than US$1 (S$1.39) to less than US$101 barrel on Monday due to profit taking after Opec's chief said he expected steady oil prices for the rest of 2008. The remarks added to growing worries that a recession in top consumer the United States would cut global energy demand. US light crude for May delivery fell US$1.23 to US$100.61 a barrel in Globex electronic trading by 2335 GMT (7.35am Singapore time). It had settled down 70 US cents at US$101.84 a barrel on Friday, after falling as low as $98.65 earlier in the session. Petroleum prices will range between US$80 and US$110 per barrel for the rest of 2008, Opec President Chakib Khelil said on Saturday. -- REUTERS Its amazing how crude oil has fallen by about US$9 since last Monday...but no drop in our pump prices! Is this a political related matter? Why isn't the 'top-ppl' doing anything? Are the petrol companies given terms to set up their refineries here? I'm sure the increase in petrol prices has add on to inflation Any comments from any economist?
  7. KNN..... another 12 more days to TPY ERP charges..... As announced, it will switch on on 01/04/08 for vehicles turning in into TPY from Braddell Road. The ERP is installed just after the Braddell flyover into Lor 6 TPY before Lor 8 junction...... LTA should have waive the charges of residents of TPY for it is not their choice of using that stretch of road but its a must for them to return to their home after sending their children to school. For TPY residents, we are cornered. Travel by Thomson Road, there one ERP before SLF building, travel by CTE-PIE (using Kim Keat Link) also kana ERP near to Potong Pasir.
  8. First off...need to clarify that this is indeed my own fault...but it does help me to realised this mystery...the car park attendants do work even when it rains! Was at Indoor Stadium last Tue for the Disney on ice show...as you all recall...it was raining the whole day...I displayed 1hr coupon and was surprised to see i was serve my "paper" when I came back...totally wet piece of summon... Always thought that when it rains...we can have a breather...but now I was proven otherwise...either that or they are now super "ON" since privatised!
  9. We see the decadance of society especially the young. The young here refers to the teens somewhere between the age of 17-20 The get into relationship easily, disregard modesty. For example going out with strangers, in their vehicle. They tend to see relationship and sex as something akin to fashion... They get involved with older men and get wasted, Money is their key objective where older working men can satisfy their needs monetarily and of course a free ride. We do notice a trend in "acting virgin" where people who are borishly handling their sexuality pretending to be an innocent naive little damsel. This irksome shift in society has greatly caused many unwanted pregnancies and degrading of moral standards... in short.. singapore's future jialat liao
  10. can start to plan/geng for 2008 holidays ======================== IF YOU think 2008 is going to be a bit of a slog, relax. Just take eight days of annual leave, tag them to a few public holidays and you get a series of long weekends that add up to 37 days off work. Even without taking any leave, there are already four long weekends. Singapore Idle, indeed. It is all thanks to the fluky way public holidays fall next year. Apart from Hari Raya Aidilfitri - a Wednesday - all the days off are close to weekends, so taking an extra day adds up to a four-day break. The first long weekend is already under way if you have taken tomorrow off, but the next one is not far off. Chinese New Year falls on Thursday and Friday in February, so by taking an additional three days of leave, you can enjoy a nine-day break. Manager Lim Suat Aik, 45, is looking forward to her Chinese New Year break. She used to take about four days of leave to spend eight days with her family in Malaysia. This year, she will need to take only three days off to get nine days away. 'I get to see my family only about once in two years so this time, I can spend more time catching up with my parents and siblings, and just relaxing,' said Ms Lim. Travel agencies said the holiday-friendly calendar, coupled with the healthy economy and good bonuses, has boosted bookings over next year's long weekends. Dynasty Travel said bookings for the Chinese New Year period have gone up by 20 per cent compared with last year. Most of its tours to popular destinations such as Australia and Japan are fully booked. SA Tours spokesman Ruth Lim said the agency is expecting a 20 to 30 per cent increase in profits next year due to the long weekends.
  11. A chinese lady (sounds like Taiwanese) been calling me the past 1 week to congrats me on winning a phone lucky draw. I was told I won the 2nd prize; 45 days tour round the world. I have to fly to HK to commerce the trip, and also told this would be the only cost i have to come up with. However if I choose to cash out, i will "LOSS" about $10k value of the ticket. I would still cash in $48,000 (Singapore dollars). Each time when told to talk more, I told the lady I am away or busy. Yesterday (sunday), she actually told me that, they have a mini fair at East Coast Park (near MacDonalds). And there are signs leading me to their booth.. just have to quote AK3698. Anyway, I was too busy shopping yesterday. This morning.. since I was so free... when she called, I entertained her.. and her calls has not stopped since then... I am supposed to call a law firm in HK to verify myself... so the $48,000 can be successfully transferred to me. WAHAAHAA... I am rich!!! I will soon get $48,000!!! By the way... it's REAL!!! cos they even got website... and just put in AK3698.. and you will see that I did win the 45 days tour round the world! http://www.ap-ta.com/login.asp

  14. WOW!!! Big bonus for LTA --------------------- source: http://motoring.asiaone.com/Motoring/News/...1102-33928.html NEARLY 3,400 vehicles were caught exceeding the 70kmh speed limit in the underground Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) in the first six days of its opening. Of the lot, 45 cases exceeded 110kmh, and one vehicle - a sedan - was clocked crossing 140kmh. Their owners will be receiving either warning letters or summonses from the Traffic Police. The number of speedsters caught works out to a daily average of 563 - double the number of speeding cases islandwide per day. This is partly because the tunnels have highly accurate digital laser cameras - the first of their kind used here. They never run out of film like the old models used on other expressways. And they work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, unlike policemen carrying laser cameras. The other reason for the inordinately large number of cases is that some motorists are still unaware of the new tunnels' 70kmh limit. Photographer Bryan Van Der Beek, 31, who reckoned he might have gone faster than 70kmh, said: 'I honestly didn't see any sign, maybe because I was looking at the tunnel itself. It was my first time driving through it.'' Alvin Tan, 40, a company vice-president, said he did not see any signs warning of the presence of speed cameras. 'If the cameras are hidden and there are no signs, it's entrapment,'' he said.

  18. After many days of rain, there's finally some clear sky (well, partly cloudy) today. So after detailing, decided to bring this blackie out or some tanning shots of the blue sky Abt 8 mths old, this sunny has already accumulated a good amt of scratches and watermarks, some of the latter were etched too deeply to remove 100%. Here's the process and some pics to tell the story..... 1) Wash n clay 2) Rotary and Orange LC pad with IP and RMG (The IP haze seems easier to remove with the RMG mixture on this Nissan Paint) 3) Rotary and white LC pad with PO106FF 4) PC with Grey LC pad and CG's Ez Creme Glaze 5) 2x M-Seal by hand Before n after of a portion of the roof: Ugly scratches and watermarks: After: More damage on the boot top... After: Front bumper: after:
  19. Hi all, Can you advice how many days after registration did you collect your new car? Mine is registered, already the 2nd day but only to be told some damage needed to be replaced after much pressure as to when Collection can take place, as LTA site already shown registration date & time is done, and life-clock of the car as a Singapore Registered vehicle is now counting. Still no confirm dates when Can collect.
  20. The owner bought the car about 1 year ago, since than the car received a few petrol station car wash and the rest of the time maintained by the owner herself (actually very siong for a lady to maintain such a big car). Scratches and swirls are all over the car, but the more serious issue is no wax or sealant or any kind of protection was applied on the car for the past 1 year plus and many funny water marks stains can be seen all over the car . I actually saw the car the very same day I detailed it, after looking at the condition I
  21. Everyone please take note if you are considering to fix HO. DON'T!! I had a bad experience w HO. Upon receiving my car (pre-fixed w HO thru BMotors) I noticed a couple of air bubbles & peeling at the edges. Just fix & peeling, imagine after 2 yrs the film would look like sxxt! Anyway inform Infra via BM when doing 1k servicing. They did not replace but cut off the peeling edge! The best part the tried to CON me saying that they replaced the film. They must think customers like me are BLIND & RETARDED ! Told off the supervisor & they immediately replaced it. Problem now is after 1.5 mths, I noticed another peeling at the edge. And I found out when browsing their warranty that altho' stated 10 yrs, but in the sticker fine print, it over rule the 10 yrs warranty by stating that they reserve the right to refuse replacement file after 30 days! Or they can charge a norminal fee for replacement. sxxt ! spending $900 for shitty workmanship & now getting screw by them with fake warranty! Arrghhh, should have stick w V-Kool or Cool Lite. Or even X brand as long as workmanship is good. So please do tempt fate just avoid Huper Optik unless u enjoy being SCREWED!! [bigcry]
  22. Fresh from BT Motoring ... Skoda to cut two days' output VOLKSWAGEN-owned Czech car-maker Skoda Auto said on Monday it will halt production for two days in the face of sluggish demand and the strong crown currency. Skoda spokesman Milan Smutny told Reuters that production will stop for one day in March and one day in April, cutting the company's output by some 2,000 vehicles so as to prevent a build-up of inventory. The two-day production cutback follows several work stoppages in 2001 that curbed output by a total of 5,600 cars in response to the slowdown in sales growth. The Czech crown has risen about 9 per cent against the euro over the past 12 months on the back of heavy foreign investment. Seems like future OMV prices of Skodas is going to be higher than present ... thus if JTA is pre-selling FABIA now at S$65,999 ... aren't they gonna have an even thinner margin later on when it comes to delivery? Really hope this aggressive marketing and pre-selling tactic will not get them into deeper trouble!
