    Same difference?

Take a look at the picture above. Can you tell what cars they are? Obviously, if you are reading this article, it means you have some interest and/or knowledge in cars, and you would most certainly know what they are. The question here being, why? Understandably, Volkswagen and Audi are under the same parent group, but even still, does that mean they should make all their cars look the same? And it's not just them too. The trend with German carmakers lately is to make the same design in various sizes. Witness BMW. You could hardly tell the new 5 and 7-Series sedans apart if they were debadged, other than in terms of size. I just wish that carmakers would put more imagination into their styling, instead of merely copying one another. It's really boring. P.S. By the way, if you didn't know what cars they are, this is the wrong website for you. They are the new Volkswagen Jetta (top), and the Audi A4 (bottom).
  2. Since different models now in the market have their own good features, car makers maybe can give us a car that combines all the good features... it will not necessary be expensive, just mix-n-match nia....: 1. Steering wheel central pad (where control buttons are) that always stays in the same position even if the wheel is turned (Citreon C5) 2. Rear seats which can be folded up (the seat where our buttocks sit) for transporting tall things such as potted flower plants (Jazz/Fit) 3. Sliding rear passenger doors: good for getting in/out in tight carpark (Honda Freed) 4. Space under rear seats for storage (jazz/fit) 5. Small triangular window (called quater-light) in front door that can swing and direct more air into the cabin (espeically on cool days when there's no need to 'on' the aircon) (old school cars) 6. others? (please add your wish list) Car makers can make these items at least available as options so that the base price of cars (without these option) can be kept low, but buyers who like these features can have them if they pay more.

  6. Nissan has released the first sketch of the next-generation Versa for the U.S. While details are limited, the car features an aggressive front bumper, a prominent grille, and sweptback headlights. Other highlights include a distinctive character line, aluminum window trim, and seven-spoke alloy wheels. Previous reports have indicated that two new models will slot beneath the Versa, in the United States, so expect it to grow in size. Furthermore, interior quality will likely improve to help justify its larger price tag. Outside of the U.S. the Versa is known as the Tiida. Additional information will be released later this year. 9. At the Transparent Factory in Dresden Volkswagen produces one of the finest automobiles in the world: the Phaeton. The limousine's quality and comfort (four-wheel drive and air suspension as standard) set a unique benchmark. Volkswagen, the most successful carmaker in Europe and China, has now made the Phaeton even more perfect. The company's new flagship is being unveiled for the first time at Auto China 2010 (27th April to 2nd May) in Beijing.
  10. According to a recent report, rumors suggesting the Toyota FT-86 Concept would be redesigned are incorrect. In an interview with AutoCar, Jaromir Cech, a senior designer at Toyota's European Design Development Center, dismissed the earlier reports. While he didn't specifically address the issue, he hinted that Toyota would officially announce plans to build the FT-86 at the Geneva Motor Show. He commented that the front bumper would likely be modified (to meet pedestrian crash protection standards) and the purse-like doorbins could be dropped. According to Cech, "I'm not sure whether the zips (aka zipper) idea for the doorbins will make it into production - it may prove too difficult to mass-produce - but I hope one day we'll see something like it in a production Toyota because it's a simple but also functional solution." As you may recall, the FT-86 Concept previews the jointly developed Toyota/Subaru sports car. It features a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated Subaru Boxer engine, a six-speed manual transmission, ADVICS brakes, and rear-wheel drive.

Then, I've some questions : a) Do you know which one has the most "plasticky" feel in this review? b) Which has the best design and feel in term of assembly and material used? c) Which one the highest equipment level (subjective because we've stripped down version in SG)? Thank you for voting. Regards,

  19. I am given a 5 or 6 spoke rims for my new car. Personally dislike the 5 or 6 spoke rims, much prefer those multi spoke ones. I told my SE... and she reacted a little bit surprised. She said the 5 or 6 spoke rims are more popular amongst her clients. In fact she has a customer who was given the multi spoke rims and is unhappy... now searching for a 5/6 spoke one to replace. What is ur preference?
