  1. Received my NSMan magazine last night and saw that Safra members get 7% off petrol @ Caltex on top of the 5% on-site. Therefore, the effective discount rate is actually 11.65%. Now that is a good deal thru the whole of this year.
  2. Good time to buy big cars.......got freebies and goodies bag leh. [email="http://www.asiaone.com/Motoring/News/Story/A1Story20090102-111774.html"[/email] Discounts and goodie packs CAR dealers are doing everything they can to pull in more buyers, dishing out freebies and slashing prices by thousands of dollars. However, it looks as if consumers are not biting at the moment, with showrooms still quiet in recent weeks, said dealers. Peugeot is offering discounts of $3,000 as well as "goodie packs" which include an iPod, iPod connectivity and solar film, said a spokesman. But sales have continued to be slow, he added. Prices of bigger models at Honda agent Kah Motor have also been cut in the wake of a drop in Certificate of Entitlement (COE) prices for bigger cars two weeks ago. "We're offering a $500 discount for buyers who take out loans of more than $50,000," said product manager Vincent Ng. Bigger models now cost $3,000 to $4,000 less than previously, he added, but sales remain sluggish. Customers will also receive solar film for their windows with each purchase, on top of other car accessory packages tailored for each model, said Mr Ng. Nissan agent Tan Chong has also slashed prices by up to $8,000, said Mr Ron Lim, the general manager for sales and marketing. Despite the lower prices and bundles of freebies, customers have not returned to showrooms, according to dealers. They added that it does not help that many Singaporeans are overseas this month or are busy preparing for the reopening of school this Friday. "Sales of our bigger models have picked up slightly but they aren't fantastic. People are still very cautious. "There may be some pick-up before Chinese New Year but it won't be like in previous years," said Mr Lim. [email protected]

  5. Read in the paper today that DBS Amex is providing 10% discount on top of the station discount of 5%. This work out to round 14.5% as claimed in the big advert. Not too sure what is the catch and if it is indeed true then it will be better as compared to the DBS ESSON that I'm now using
  6. I've read like 5% cashback and 3% rebate at station discount. Is this true? Currently on Esso with Platinium UOB with 5% unidollars discount
  7. I currently pumping SPC got about 7% discount if pump between $300-$500 of petrol purchase. Pls another 3% if use DBS or POSB credit or debit card. What about other brand of petrol? What discount the give?
  8. Realised more and more people switch to CNG. But what is the point to stick the greenish sticker on the car? Not as if they look nice like some decals?
  9. Just went to pump my petrol at SPC yesterday and saw this notice on the pump station saying that with effective from 28th July, 5% site discount has already taken off. I was surprised and I believe this 5% discount applied to other petrol stations as well. So are we still getting a better deal after those, 4cts, 4cts and 10cts price dropped?
  10. Like to know any other fuel cartels offer any better deal then Caltex which I pumped yesterday. Just received a Orang Chinna Bukan Chinna - auNTy lUCy credit card & a note stated that using this card at Caltex would entitle to station discount plus another 3% upon off monthly bill. So was at Caltex and saw its post : Station discount at 5%, OCBC card holder another 5% discount, so total 10% disvcount on fuel. Couple with another 3% off monthly bill, I should receiving 10% + 3% off fuel price..... Consider not a bad deal. Any member here could share any other oil cartels that offer much discount then this and with what card ? With current fuel prices, I would like to apply for one such card...... cheers.........
  11. ST 29/5/2008 French woman charged with killer-litter A FRENCH national was charged in a magistrate's court on Thursday with a killer-litter offence. Sandrine Bionda Courbet, 39, a bank executive, is said to have thrown three knives and a wooden knife holder from the kitchen window of her 15th-floor flat at Ridgwood Close on Jan 27. She initially wanted to plead guilty but when told by the judge that the offence normally carried a jail term, she changed her mind. The judge had asked if she wanted to engage a lawyer. She asked for an adjournment to make representations. She is released on bail of $5,000. Her passport was impounded. She will be back in court on June 26. If convicted of the rash act, she faces a jail term of up to three months or a fine of $250 or both.
  12. Thomson Financial News Singapore will not roll back tax increase despite soaring inflation 05.26.08, 5:40 AM ET SINGAPORE (Thomson Financial) - The Singapore government said on Monday it does not intend to roll back the 2 percentage point hike in the goods and services tax (GST) to help battle soaring inflation in the city-state, which hit a 26-year high in April. The increase in the GST to 7 percent from 5 percent last July was one of the factors, along with spiraling oil and food prices, that contributed to the consumer price index accelerating by 7.5 percent in April from a year earlier. The government has acknowledged that the GST factor will continue to impact the headline numbers for the first half. 'Our approach is aimed at the medium term. The GST adjustments that we put in are necessary to have a better balance between direct tax and indirect tax,' Trade and Industry Minister Lim Hng Kiang said in parliament. 'So I don't think it is useful for us to tweak the GST tax rate in response to a short-term phenomenon, which is the cost increases that we face.' The government maintains that inflation will ease in the second half of the year. 'It is still our central scenario that in the second half of the year we should see an easing off of inflation pressures,' Lim said. 'The sharp run up of food prices -- the momentum ought to ease off towards the second half or at least that is what most analysts are projecting.' The city-state uses its monetary policy as the main tool to fight inflation. The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Singapore's de-facto central bank, manages the Singapore dollar nominal effective exchange rate against a basket of unknown trade-weighted currencies. The MAS allowed the Singapore dollar to appreciate at a faster pace in its last two meetings in October and April and said it will review the policy again at its meeting in October. 'MAS has to strike the right balance in the setting of its exchange rate policy, taking into account both inflation and growth considerations, mindful in particular that external demand conditions have weakened especially in the G3 markets,' Lim said, referring to the markets of Japan, the European Union and the United States. So there is a difference in $400, If any of you would want to buy a watch for your love ones or even yourself, pls kindly do contact me at 9069 3123! i will deduct for you! For eg, after i change the model, there is still a remaining balance of my $400 (of cos they wont return me cash, its either i buy another watch from them which is pointless for me to get 2 new watch!) , so if you get a Armani watch or Guess watch or even a Cyma watch, etc etc I will deduct 20% off my 400, so u only have to pay me 300+. Only today and tomorrow! pls contact me for further enquiries!! at 9069 3123!! thanks
