  1. See lah, now so many people cut queue on the Causeway that others need to do things like this. What happened? A Honda Jazz driver on the Woodlands Checkpoint crossing has apparently had enough bad experiences, as they have resorted to keeping their door open to block people from cutting the queue. This has since gone viral as people laughed at the idea, or mocked it. Though in the wake of many drivers caught on camera misbehaving, maybe this will catch on? Online chatter At least a few people thought it was a good idea. Others came up with alternate reasons for why the door was open. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. Hi, My HDB gate frame is having alignment issue ever since after the reno. I need to use force to push the gate in order for the mechanism to lock in place. When open, the gate will spring open once the handle is pressed. I trully think there is a misalignment in the gate frame to the door frame which my reno ID denies it...he said it's normal... (bullsxxx!) now I need to find someone else to fix it, but who can I call? Not a lock smith right? Cos it's not the lock problem. Due to this, every closure and opening of the door is very noisy due to the clicking sound especially during night or early morning time. thanks
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAP9bZb5HVA A woman was taken to hospital after a door fell onto her at the carpark lift lobby of Alexandra Central Mall on Sunday evening (Feb 24). Several Stompers alerted Stomp to a video of the incident, which occurred on the fourth floor of the building at around 6.24pm. In the video, a man is seen entering the lift lobby through its doors. A woman then followed behind. As the pair waited for the lift, one door swung shut and came into contact with an adjacent door. This caused the adjacent door to suddenly fall on the woman, who is sent crashing onto the floor. Another man can be seen rushing into the lift lobby and helping the woman's male companion to move the glass off her. The two men then helped the woman to sit up. In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call for medical assistance at 321 Alexandra Road at around 6.30pm and conveyed one person to National University Hospital. When Stomp visited Alexandra Central Mall on Tuesday (Feb 26) at around 5.40pm, the affected door had been removed. Warning signs had also been put up. Stomp has reached out to Alexandra Central Mall for comment. https://stomp.straitstimes.com/singapore-seen/door-falls-onto-woman-at-carpark-lift-lobby-of-alexandra-central-mall hope she is not seriously injured

  8. 2019 Mercedes Benz AMG GT 4 door coupe unveiled http://www.motortrend.com/news/2019-mercedes-amg-gt-four-door-coupe-first-look/ The Mercedes-AMG GT S is a truly fantastic car. It looks great, the interior is gorgeous, and if you drive it hard, it’ll leave you grinning like an idiot for days. Leave the race track behind, and the GT S will also devour long stretches of highway like nobody’s business. If you need a back seat, though, you’re out of luck. The GT S is a true two-seater. At least you used to be out of luck. If Mercedes-AMG is to be believed, the new GT 4-Door Coupe is a legitimate four-door sports car. Design-wise, the GT 4-Door Coupe looks more like the new CLS than the coupe it shares a name with, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The redesigned CLS is a good looking car, and AMG’s designers did a great job of making sure the four-door GT looks like a proper AMG. Even with unique headlights, a stretched cabin, and a proportionally shorter hood, no one is going to mistake this sedan for a run-of-the-mill Mercedes. Even better, the four-door GT retains the original GT’s rear hatch for an added dose of practicality. Inside, it’s a similar story. The four-door GT’s cabin borrows lots of styling from other modern Mercedes sedans, but it does get a few unique design cues. The wide center console, for example, looks like an updated version of the one found in the original GT coupe. Depending on which package buyers choose, the four-door GT’s interior can either look like a luxury sedan with its quilted leather and wood trim, or it can double down on the sportiness with carbon fiber trim, yellow seatbelts, contrast stitching, and sports seats. European buyers will have the option of a four-passenger or five-passenger version, but in the U.S., only the four-seat configuration will be available. For most buyers, the four-door GT’s performance will likely be the most important factor, and at least on paper, AMG definitely delivers. All versions get torque-vectoring all-wheel drive and a nine-speed AMG automatic transmission, and there are three different levels of power. The base version, the GT 53, gets a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six good for 429 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. Like the CLS 53, the GT 53 uses a mild hybrid system that contributes 21 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to hit 60 mph in an estimated 4.4 seconds. Step up to the mid-level GT 63, and the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 makes 577 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque, good for a 3.3-second run to 60 mph, according to AMG. The GT 63 S tops the lineup with 630 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque from the same V-8. It’s also the quickest of the three, needing only 3.1 seconds to hit 60 mph. Keep going, and the GT 63 S has a top speed of 195 mph, 21 mph faster than the GT 53’s max of 174 mph. To make sure the four-door GT could hold its own on a race track, AMG says it engineered an exceptionally stiff chassis, even using a rear anti-roll bar from the GT R. The six-cylinder version uses steel springs and adaptive dampers, and the V-8s get AMG’s multi-chamber air suspension for even sportier handling. The all-wheel-drive system is rear-biased, and on the GT 63 S, it even includes a standard drift mode that completely disengages the front wheels. Drift mode is also available as an option on the regular GT 63. Both 63s come standard with a limited-slip differential and rear-wheel steering, as well. For even better handling, AMG gave the GT an active aero package. Up front, engineers borrowed the GT R’s electronically controlled louvers to manage airflow, while a multi-stage rear spoiler adjusts itself depending on how the car is being driven. In a straight line, the spoiler lowers to minimize wind resistance, but in a corner, it raises to increase downforce and improve handling. No information on pricing is available at the moment, but expect Mercedes to announce that closer to the GT’s on-sale date. For the GT 63 and 63 S, that’s scheduled to be early next year, with the GT 53 not going on sale until mid-2019.
  9. Hi guys, My car door indicator is always intermittently on during driving and the problem seems to be getting worse. It is mostly on now. All the doors are fully close but yet the car door open indicator keeps getting on from time to time. I can ignore it, but when it is on, I cannot use my remote car key to auto lock the door. The remote sense some doors are still "open" so I could not lock the car by using the remote. I have to manually lock the car. Any workshop that can repair such issues?
  10. utterly disappointed with HDB (whats new?!) Long story short: collected BTO flat keys Feb 2016, punggol along waterway area recently spotted master bedroom toilet door starting to split at the edges from the bottom. first noticed in July 2017. called HDB and was informed past warranty period. nothing can be done. gave me contractor's contact for quote, contractor bo huh me. fine few days ago, spotted common toilet door starting to split at the edges from the top. emailed into HDB feedback. received call from the same officer who spoke to me the first time and regurgitated the same "out of warranty" story. when i refused to budge, another lady spoke to me and said it may be due to the owners not doing proper maintenance and due to usage issues. seriously? how to use until the edges split? bang the door daily as a hobby? if its only one door, fine, i suay. now its both doors. obviously its quality issues! we topup for optional components for inferior products! kaos. (no idea why after attaching the picture was rotated) any bros encountered anything similar and managed to get HDB do something about the issue? can share? im so sorry for starting in the wrong section.. how can i move it to non-car related! sorry!!

  14. Indian home buyers are usually against buying properties with the main door facing west, anyone encountered such buyers?
  15. Hi everyone can someone recommend a cheap place to swap seats (front and back) between 2 cars, and some parts of the door trims. Thanks.
  16. My 10 year old car has a lot of scratches around the door handle area, probably caused by fingernails. I'm changing car this year so I was wondering how to avoid that again. Nowadays I heard there is a nano-coating treatment that forms a protective layer around the paint. Is that enough to protect against these kind of scratches, or still need to install the transparent laminate film?

    Bathroom door

For those who is having a frameless bathroom swing door from your bedroom to the bathroom, does the door block the acoustic noise from the bathroom? My current door is a bi-fold thin layer of acrylic door. Whenever people using the toilet/bathroom, it's very noisy to those in the bedroom. It's a common bath/toilet accessible from the bedroom as well. Then, the mechanism like going to pecah already, difficult to fully interlock close the door without having to kick at the bottom of the door (this will rudely awaken those sleeping in the bedroom) So I am planning to change the door at the bedroom side, at least to something that will have a little sound proof from the bathroom noise. 1. wooden door - not ideal as the bath room is small and water will splash onto it and will rot in due time. 2. new bi-fold door - not sound proof 3. frameless tempered glass swing door - I'm not sure haw sound proof can it be, Thanks.
  18. Have been seeing this long mirror like thingy on the door pillar (between driver and rear pax) & mostly in those silver cabs..... any idea what it does or purpose ??
  19. Wow. what a way to go. Perhaps he died a happy man. Boys & girls do not do this at home, okay? Man shower with gf....slipped and fell through glass bathroom door...didn't survive. RIP For those with glass bathroom door change them to acrylic or tempered glass . Safer....if you want to piak piak in the shower also safer. http://www.tnp.sg/news/singapore-news/man-dies-after-crash-through-glass-bathroom-door Sep 29, 2015 6:00am By SHAFFIQ ALKHATIB He slipped, smashed his head through the glass panel of a bathroom door and later died. Sebastian Wong Yu Lun was only 24 when he died in the most horrific way on Jan 25, in front of a frantic girlfriend who was helpless to save him. Details of the tragedy emerged in a inquiry into his death yesterday. When Mr Wong hit the glass panel, the sharp broken edges impaled his neck. He also had multiple cuts on his head. Mr Wong, a car salesman, had been taking a shower with his girlfriend, identified only as Ms L, at her flat at Teban Gardens Road. As Mr Wong was about to leave the shower, he slipped. Ms L was shocked to hear the glass panel shatter and frantically tried to free Mr Wong when she realised he was injured and trapped. Her sister, who was not named in court papers, called emergency services as Ms L fought to free her boyfriend. After a struggle, she managed to free him and he fell flat on his back. He was still conscious but struggling as she propped him into a sitting position. She dressed herself and used a towel to suppress the bleeding. State Coroner Marvin Bay said: "She noted, however, that Mr Wong stopped his struggles and appeared to lose consciousness after five minutes, lying unconscious on the floor. "Ms L tried to perform CPR by giving chest compressions in accordance with instructions by an SCDF (Singapore Civil Defence Force) operator through the phone and relayed by her sister." WEAK PULSE A paramedic who had arrived at the scene detected a weak pulse and the ambulance took Mr Wong to hospital, but he could not be saved. He was pronounced dead about 40 minutes after the accident.Mr Wong had suffered multiple incised wounds to the head and neck, said consultant forensic pathologist Marian Wang, which led to his death. She also said that Mr Wong died of multiple incised wounds to the head and neck. Coroner Bay said: "The nature of the incised wounds was found to be consistent with those caused by sharp, broken glass fragments." He found that Mr Wong had died from an "unfortunate misadventure". Following the tragedy, senior forensic scientist Li Yuhua from the Forensic Chemistry and Physics Laboratory of the Health Sciences Authority, produced a report on the analysis of the glass fracture. It revealed that the panel was not made of tempered glass. Instead, Coroner Bay said that it was likely to be made of heat-strengthened glass. In his findings, he added that it may be prudent to use tempered glass panels on doors or windows in places where falls may commonly occur. He said: "Tempered glass fragments are less likely to have sharp edges (when broken), which may help to avoid the occurrence of catastrophic or even fatal injuries, upon any person breaking or shattering glass fixtures."
  20. i dunno what you guys think about this but one day, a student came knocking at my door and asked to to buy something from them so as to help them help themselves with their education fees. They even had this "pass" or something. on hearing its for their education fees, did not think twice i said yes and i bought a rubber luggage tag for $10. (these tag could be bought from shops for maybe $1.50 to $2). a few days later, my wife was looking at the tag and she realized that the tag was actually broken ! it seems that the bottom half of the tag (about 2 cm was broken off). I dun mind helping students in need and dun really think much of the items that they sell ... but somehow i feel this is a rip-off as the students were selling rejects or damaged items (maybe sponsored?) I would have bought it with a peace of mind if the student had been truthful and told me it was damaged even. well, i guess i does not pay to be helpful. I am already telling myself not to "help" students or people selling things on the streets already ... but this door-to-door is a first and last for me also.
  21. "Dear All Singapore Stuff, I just got my Punggol BTO flat and not long after I moved in, I noticed that the wooden door started to grow tiny white specks. After a few days, I start to see white "shitake" mushrooms growing out of my door! What is this rubbish that HDB installed in my house? Do they not know that mushroom have spores that can cause asthma and other respiratory ailments? Why is the quality of BTO flats now so poor, pathetic to the extent where mushrooms or fungi can grow at home. For those who are getting their new BTO flats, please check all your wooden doors for such growth. It is unhealthy for you and you need to complaint to HDB for them to change a new door for you!"
