  7. Volkswagen's Czech-built Skoda brand will be introduced Down Under next June http://editorial.carsales.com.au/mellor/me...A25708400145181 This would have been good news for us if Skoda was introduced into Australia earlier as I would believe more aftermarket parts would be made available....for owners of the current Octys, Fabias and Superbs. Fabia and Superb owners still have a glimmer of hope for more aftermarket parts from down under soon though For Octy owners, well... tough luck

  10. tonite when almost reachin my carpark, car suddenly breakdown. can feelin rpm getting lower n lower when i step on the accelerator pedal. but b4 tat halfway through the journey already felt the rpm droppin to about 500rpm which i find it occuring the first time. initially thought engine stall. managed to start the engine again n carried on my journey back to carpark. reached my second level of the mscp. same problem occur again. this time round seen smoke coming out from my bonnet. quickly open up the bonnet as i scare engine caught fire. engine very hot n smoke caused by the heat. off the engine once. to my surprise, even after i off the engine, the engine still moving until about 2-3 mins later then the engine totally stop. find it so amazin tat without the key the engine still can run. n discovered tat the temp in the meter is H. which is very high temp. n the red signal for the water shortage is out, the one with a alladin lamp with a drop of water. n the rpm returns to idlin at a very slow rate. meaning if i accel till 3000rpm. it will slowly crawl back to 1000rpm rather than straight away fall back. engine oil also within safety level. call up my regular mech, told him about my condition. he suspect its the water shortage in the radiator. but when i check my spare tank for the radiator, the water level is oni 1-2cm shortage of the optimum level. my mech said the water under the radiator cap might be insufficient. told mi to wait for about an hr b4 openin the radiator cap to top up the water. 2hrs later i open up the rad cap n top ur about 2.5-3 litres of water into the radiator. after tat start the engine again. to my disappointment the red signal with the alladin lamp n water drop is still there n i can feel the idlin rpm getting weaker n weaker n like the engine dyin like tat.... very sian... any bros here encounter this b4 n got any correct remedy for mi??? thks a lot.................

  12. Hi all, Recently changed to a set of 15" Sports Rim with Falken ZE326 tyres to my Wira 1.3M. Currently, whenever I slow down the car, be it from 70kmph or 40 kmph, I notice that the Steering often give me a "swirling" feeling. Some times it turn a little bit. I did not have these experience before fixing the rims. Question: Is it due to the fact that I took out the Screw at the Back Brake Area where it contact with the Rims? The Tyre mechanic said those are redundant screws. Can kindly advice? Thanks. Loy

  16. The principal of Nan Chiau High has stepped down after admitting to hitting a female student with a soft-cover book. . In a letter to Today (See Page 8), the Ministry of Education (MOE) said Mr Ng Lee Huat had offered to step down as head of the school and that it had accepted his offer, which takes effect today. . This came as the MOE was conducting investigations into a complaint that Mr Ng had hit a Secondary 2 student on April 15. . Today reported last Thursday that a police report had been lodged against the principal by the god-sister of one of five students who had witnessed the incident. All six had been called up by Mr Ng for questioning and a teacher was also present. . The MOE said Mr Ng would be "redeployed to a position where he can continue to contribute to education". . In the meantime, the cluster superintendent will oversee the school's management until a replacement principal is appointed. Said an MOE spokesperson: "Hitting a student, no matter how testing the circumstances of disciplining the student, cannot be condoned. This is an unacceptable action that is outside the guidelines governing corporal punishment in schools." . The five students were suspended for two weeks after the incident, while the girl who was hit was allowed back after an initial suspension. The others have since also gone back to school. . Speaking to Today, the mother of the girl who was hit said: "I was angry when I heard what happened, but I accepted Mr Ng's explanation when I went to his office last Thursday and he apologised. . "He said he did not hit her deliberately and had done it for her own good." . She only found out that Mr Ng was leaving when Today informed her yesterday and said she "didn't expect" it to end this way. . Her daughter

  18. BMW's secret project caught with guard down By Toby Hagon Motoring Editor February 11, 2004 BMW's latest project, a vehicle planned not to reach dealerships until December, has been photographed undisguised during promotional filming at Point Cook. Until now, the 1-Series has only been photographed in its heavy disguise, but this picture was taken on Monday in Greg Norman Drive by amateur photographer Cameron Waldon. It provides a world-first glimpse of what the car looks like. "They had security there and were asking people what they were doing before letting them through," Mr Waldon said. "Every time someone came past they would put a car cover over it so no one could see it. It kept driving around the round-about, and the security guards were not letting anyone within about 30 metres of it." Digitally altered images generated by the lucrative automotive "spy" industry have also provided a realistic idea of what the new BMW will look like. But BMW is not going into details about what is considered one of the most important new models in years for the German brand. "The car was out here for a brochure shoot," a BMW spokeswoman said. "It was stored at Tullamarine and trucked to the location. The car has already gone back to Germany." Costing from $30,000, the 1-Series is intended to introduce young buyers to the brand in the hope they will one day move up to a bigger, more expensive model. It will sell on BMW's strengths of rear-drive dynamics and attention to detail. It is not unusual for development cars to be photographed on test in Australia, particularly in the Northern Territory where the speed-unlimited roads and high temperatures push a car to extremes. But such road test vehicles are always heavily disguised. There have been regular sightings of the 1-Series in Europe, where it has been driven around covered in black cladding to hide it from cameras. Some car makers like to take publicity photographs and film television commercials in Australia. Three years ago the then new Mini was pictured in Sydney before its release while, more recently, the Lexus RX330 luxury off-roader was also spotted in Sydney. 20. To: The driver of a red Toyota Corolla starting with SCE xxxx Date: 16/10/03 Time: Approximately 7.10pm Location: Bus-stop filter lane outside Kallang MRT The scenario: A bunch of colleagues and I was crossing the road when your car sped towards us. There was no traffic light at our point of crossing though. You did not slow down upon seeing people on the road, and continued to speed towards us. You gave us a long horn before you initiated your left signal to indicate that you are going to filter into the bus-stop to pick up your wife/gf. For your information, when you gave your signal, you are only about 10 metres from us. Yes, you almost knock us down. Thankfully, 7 of us managed to run onto the pedestrian path in that split second to escape the accident. There are more than 10 witnesses at the bus-stop if that slipped your mind. A colleague quickly jotted your number in both his notepad and mobile phone SMS. A car behind you saw this incident and stopped by us. He told us that he saw no brake light from your car until you drove into the bus-stop lane. He is certain that you were giving a extremely late signal (about 10 metres) to indicate your intention. In addition, he has been following behind your car and is extremely sure you have been travelling at 90km/h, way past the speed limit on that road. Never mind for this incident. My message to this driver: You are lucky you met us, that we are quick enough to literally leaped onto the pedestrian path. What do you think if it was an old man or old woman who is unable to react like us? We have taken your car license plate and should we happen to see such a situation from you again, we will not hestitate to submit your license plate to the Traffic Police for reckless driving. ** Two public members whom we don't even know, resort to pointing their middle finger at you, which you ignored, either you did not see or purposely pretend not to see. Be glad that we give you enough respect not to do likewise. Ed
