  1. In this digital era, our government need to take network reliability and cyber security seriously. Unlike the in the case of service disruption brought upon by DBS and M1 in the past few months, if hospital network is down and the doctor are not able to retrieve patient's record timely, it could be a life and death situation! Websites of Singapore public hospitals, polyclinics down due to 'internet access disruption' Source: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/singapore-hospitals-errors-websites-not-loading-healthcare-polyclinics-3888231 SINGAPORE: The websites of all public hospitals and polyclinics in Singapore were down on Wednesday (Nov 1), with users reporting errors when trying to access them in the morning. Attempts to access the websites produced error messages saying their URLs could not be retrieved. The issue is due to an "internet access disruption" affecting all public healthcare clusters, said Synapxe, the national health tech agency. "Services requiring internet applications like websites, emails and the NUHS (National University Health System) contact centre are inaccessible," said the agency at about 1.45pm. It added that clinical services within the public healthcare network, such as access to patient records, remain accessible and unaffected. "We are currently working to resolve the issue and apologise for any inconvenience caused," said Synapxe, whose website was also inaccessible. The agency supports the operations of 46 public healthcare institutions, including acute hospitals and polyclinics, as well as around 1,400 community partners such as nursing homes and general practitioners. Singapore's public healthcare system is grouped into three clusters - SingHealth which runs hospitals and polyclinics in the east, the National Healthcare Group in the central region and NUHS in the west. The websites of Singapore General Hospital, National University Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital were among those affected. The website of the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) was also inaccessible. Websites of private hospitals, such as Mount Elizabeth Novena and Raffles Medical Group, appear to be unaffected. The Ministry of Health and HealthHub websites were working. CNA has contacted the hospitals, healthcare clusters, AIC and the Infocomm Media Development Authority for more information. This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
  2. This thread is meant for fellow forumers who have migrated down under or are intending to do so. Those who have, care to share some tips and information about how life is like? What instigated you to do so? Is life really better on the other side? I'm harbouring thoughts of migrating (or quitting, like our government puts it) down under. Life here is getting really suffocating man... no thanks to the influx of people from a certain large Asian country. Starting to feel like a second-rate citizen in my very own country.
  3. Anyone else facing the same issues with M1 on their mobile phone ? Not able to make or receive calls at all .
  4. I was told by the other branch of Shell that another Shell station at Yishun Ring Road (near Yishun Ave 5) is closing down and giving out vouchers for at least $30 petrol pumping. But those vouchers can only be used at 3 Shell stations. One @ Yishun Street 11 and another near SSC and followed by third place which I could not recall. So, those bros and sis staying in Yishun or sembawang might want to give it a try. It is till 25 March 2016. I will probably try next week.
  5. MS Outlook is down since late morning and no more email, can shake leg and can't do work. Anyone drinking coffee now... 😂 Many unable to send or receive e-mails due to Microsoft Outlook outage https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/microsoft-outlook-experiences-outage-users-report-failure-to-send-or-receive-e-mails SINGAPORE - Users of Microsoft Outlook found themselves unable to send or receive e-mails on Tuesday, amid an outage of the service. According to outage tracking website downdetector.com, problems with the service were first detected at around 12pm in Singapore. It is currently unclear how many users are affected, although many have taken to social media to highlight their inability to send and receive e-mails through the service. On its website, Microsoft said it was investigating a potential issue, with reports of problems accessing Outlook.com. It said it had identified a recent change that “may be causing issues with send, receive, or e-mail search”, and was working to restore access to the service. As at 1.26pm, the tech giant said the issue mainly affected users located in the North American region. In an update at 3pm, Microsoft said those in other regions may also be impacted, due to affected infrastructure in North America. However, there has been gradual improvement for these users, and the company is carrying out targeted operations to restore service. The latest outage comes after a similar one on Jan 25, when users found themselves unable to access several Microsoft 365 services – with many of the affected apps being an integral part of operations for schools and businesses.
  6. https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/whatsapp-down-not-working-status-b2209835.html WhatsApp has broken, with users unable to send or receive messages. The world’s most popular messaging app appears to have stopped working, potentially affecting billions of users. The app would allow people to type messages to friends and then press send. But they then became stuck, never actually delivering. Time to go use those free SMSes.

  8. Hi, Need some advice for my ride. I had Blitz R-VIT i color installed in my ride (2007 Toyota Rav4). Recently the battery voltage reading is funny : Morning after cold start it read 13.9 volt. After traveled around 6-7km, when speed up the reading drop till 12.2 volt and if slow down the voltage will go up till 14.3 volt. Stop in traffic light it will drop from 14.3 volt to 12.5 volt. Moving from stand still the voltage will start to drop again till 12.2volt. If I restart the engine again the voltage will go back to normal for a few km and all this will happy again. If I turn on the low beam or headlight, all this will not happen and the voltage read at 13.9 volt very stable. Any suggestion what is wrong? [hur] Battery just change 5 months ago by AA. Thanks for any input.

  10. Tesla drivers say they have been locked out of their cars after an outage struck the carmaker's app. Dozens of owners posted on social media about seeing an error message on the mobile app that was preventing them from connecting to their vehicles. Tesla chief executive Elon Musk personally responded to one complaint from a driver in South Korea, saying on Twitter: "Checking." Mr Musk later said the app was coming back online. The Tesla app is used as a key by drivers to unlock and start their cars. Owners posted a multitude of complaints online about not being able to use their vehicles. "I'm stuck an hour away from home because I normally use my phone to start [my] car," one owner tweeted. https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-59357306
  11. Huge parts of internet currently offline A number of leading websites are currently not working, including Amazon, Reddit and Twitch. The UK government website - gov.uk - is also down as are the Financial Times, the Guardian and the New York Times. Affected websites displayed the message: "Error 503 Service Unavailable". Early reports suggested it could be related to Fastly, a cloud computing provider, which underpins a lot of major websites. Fastly said it was looking into problems with its global content delivery network (CDN). In an error message posted just before 11am BST Fastly said it was "currently investigating potential impact to performance with our CDN services." It has not yet provided a formal statement. https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-57399628
  12. Anyone with such problem?
  13. We all know cyclists should cycle on either the PCN or on the roads. But being on the road can be dangerous for cyclists who don't know how to look out for themselves as we can see in the video posted by SG Road Vigilante on the 28th of October. Shot in the morning by a camera car on Clemenceau Ave, the cyclist could be seen changing lanes to the right without checking for traffic coming up from the right. Unfortunately, a Comfort taxi did really come up on the right at a good speed and just barely managed to avoid knocking him down. That said, the taxi's wing mirror did knock the cyclist off balance, causing him to fall. Do you think cyclists who wish to cycle on the road ought to undergo the Basic Theory Test at a minimum? We highly think so. Let us know if you agree with us or not in the comments section! https://fb.watch/1rcEp62JAl/

  16. Tesla has announced that it will close down most of its retail outlets in a move that will allow it to price its cars cheaper. According to Electrek, the electric car maker wants to focus on online sales as it says that 78% of the Model 3 orders the company received last year were placed online. Interestingly, it added on that 82% of Model 3 customers purchased the vehicle without test driving first. With that in mind, the company believes that there was no need to operate the 120 retail store that it has now and will be closing most of it down. Doing so will allow it to reduce prices for its vehicles by an average of 6% and give it the ability to produce the entry-level Model 3 earlier than anticipated. Furthermore, it has been reported that Tesla started removing commissions from retail employees earned from sales, prompting employees to speculate that the manufacturer has cut bonuses to try and push them out before Tesla needs to layoff staff and pay severance.

  18. In a world where browsing social media, getting info on the net first hand is king, and binging videos on your rest days are a must, well... Youtube is down if that's even considered breaking news. It's as SERIOUS as the MRT breaking down. Brings your life almost to a halt (for some/many/most). If you're not seeing videos on the MCF blog, don't panic. It's not us. It's Youtube. So to summarize.. Youtube is down. Don't panic. Some reports are of blank screen, some showing internal errors. https://heavy.com/tech/2018/10/youtube-down/

  21. https://youtu.be/NCiiS-UlXMY?list=PL9hNbo_Ztnr9kyeIy53_uudXtRPTbOjAw&t=1360 Something to ponder.. 22.43min to 27:13min Petter Schiff talked about illegal immigrants in USA and misconceptions people have. He come to explain some of the misconceptions about illegal immigrants take away American jobs and lower down wages. Having listened to his explanation, somehow it also applies to Singapore, replace the word illegal immigrants with foreigners and the whole things makes a lot of sense to Singapore context. People keep complaining foreigners come in Singapore that took away our job and taking down our wages, is that true? Foreigners come in Singapore that took away our job, debate: Not so true as there is unlimited amount of work. There is no limit to the numbers of jobs that can be created. Foreigners come in Singapore that lower down our wages, debate: Not so true, let's assume because there are foreigners come in, Employer can hire foreigners can do things at a lower price then they would have to pay higher if these foreigners won't here. Let's say we are getting an influx of skilled workers, carpenters, plumbers, tailors, mechanics. Let's say your sink is clogged up and you want to call plumbers. If there's more plumbers here and because there is more plumbers, employer can hire plumbers for less money, cost of hiring plumbers goes down. The debate is less money to hire plumbers, more money to spend someplace else. Foreigners help bring down the cost of doing business and ultimately bring down prices and that benefits everyone, its a good idea to have more workers in the economy. There are a lot of foreigners that come to Singapore that jobs that Singaporeans won't do. The only way these job (that Singaporeans won't want to do ) gets down is because these foreigners did them and if these foreigners won't here, the jobs won't get done, and a lot of these companies won't exist here anymore and so a lot of higher paying jobs will go away. Because without lower paying job doing the job, higher paying jobs will not be possible. It is an chicken and egg debate. However, there still need to have foreigners that need to fill up jobs that many Singaporeans do not want to do. Many companies would not have exist if unable to find lower paying workers and likelihood, a lot of higher paying jobs will not be here and many Singaporeans would also suffer.
  22. Anyone out there suffer that?
  23. Anyone here drives an auto car and shift to free gear when going down slope or cruise to a stop before reaching a traffic light? I tried doing that for one full tank and realised it actually save a fair bit of fuel. But that will also increase in ware n tear of the gears? Do u agree to such driving habit?
