  1. Dear all, Wanted to share my experience with Pure Drive located at Harvest at Woodlands. Messaged one of the chaps regarding pricing for a 4 wheel alignment but no reply,so I proceeded to call and ask. Voice on the other line said SGD80, and will take about half an hour to complete. So I went down, since I am around that area that day. When I was there, the technician ramped up my car, did some checks, and when my car was up there, he the proceeded to tell me that he has to 'charge extra SGD40 because I requested to change caster. SGD80 is adjustment for toe only'. Also claimed that his price is one of the lowest around, standard pricing. Since I was there and was out of touch with alignment prices (last alignment was done 3 years ago), I agreed. Workmanship was ok (I mean, what do you expect, it's a standard Hunter machine - a dummy can operate that user-friendly interface). However technician had a lot to say about how difficult it might be to get an exact alignment - because the 'alignment bushing might be worn'. In the end technician managed to adjust the three STANDARD alignment settings - took about an hour from start to finish. After alignment done, out of curiosity I googled alignment prices, and found Kenny's number. I then remembered that Kenny was the expert in alignment around here, and HE was the one who did my alignment 3 years back. But prices posted online were around SGD 50 to 80. I then sms-ed Kenny to just enquire how much he charges for 4 wheel alignment. Reply came back 5 mins later: SGD80. So in summary folks: Do your research BEFORE you commit to any workshop. When it comes to alignment, very hard to beat Kenny's price (and expertise).

  4. Heard from my mum that she learned driving on a car with no power steering and it was very xiong. Are non-power steering cars really that hard to drive or is it because women have lesser strength? Can some old bird kindly share his experience?
  5. Hi guys, As promised, i went to test drive the mitsubishi triton. unfortunately, i kena bluff by one of the SEs last time who said the double cab was allowed to be test driven, only the single is allowed on the road for test drive. Anyway, for those who are not aware, the 2 in the show room (leng kee), the double cab one is auto, the single cab one is manual both have the carry boy cover installed liao. it looks much better now. So after settling all the necessary stuff with the SE, got into the triton and cranked it up. comfort wise, it was pretty good, now like those bone rattling shaker pickups, the only thing that is 'noisy' is the grunt from the disel engine. also, like most of the disel vehicle si see, the gear knob is 'viberating' most of the time.. firstly, for the single cab, i had some difficulty getting out of the lot. I drove the double cab last week ard the parking lot and it was EASY, but for the single cab, just maybe i'm not used to the long bed. Also, the turnin radius for the triton, umm.. well. takes a bit of getting used to. Also, ironically, for a goods vehicle, i always tot that these vehicles had a sh1t load of torque(so much until 2nd gear can move off like that),but the triton was like a car, at 2nd gear, not that much power( i noe some vans/commercial vechiles move off at 2nd gear, but not this baby) so, becos of its size, its quite hard to manoeuvre it ard small tight places. the double cab was so much easier, but the single cab, a bit scary. now for the fun part. took it out onto the road.. i was thinkin " turbo sia, lets have some fun", so i pushed it at first gear, the engine roared, there was pick up, but the truck didnt really go as fast as i tot ( i was hoping for some pull back or something). then i swtiched to 2nd gear, i tink after ard 2.5k rpm, then the turbo kinda kicked in and there was quite a pull back., then i upped to 3rd gear, the truck just wanted to go faster!! i mean, this baby had some serious power man! i would say, this guy prob is faster than my lancer anyday (without all the sh1t i have in the boot). handling wise, steerin was heavy ( its a big vehicle), but i'm ok with it. but driving this truck gives u a dam shiok feeling, like ur on top of everything and pple will give way to u on the road.. haha overall, i would rate it like this power=10/10 (addicted to wack) comfort=8/10( double cab is dam shiok) handling=6.5/10( dam big, turnin radius dam jiat lat) looks=9.5 ( i would like it without the cover, but then gotta put the dam bars, sians) overall, a lovely vehicle! one thing to take note guys, most of the SEs are dam lazy to go explain or let u take this out for a test drive cos C&C did not give them much info on it. most of them will tell u either no keys or not allowed on the roads yet. the SE who attended to me is Jesse Ong, u guys can look her up, i duno wat else to write on this FR, hope its useful to other brothers here cheers!
  6. Hi, I test drove a lot of cars at the start, but now I think I have shortlisted down to 2 cars. So I want to test drive them again and compare between the two. Should I look for the same SEs who helped me the first time, or just any SE at the showroom? I'm just concerned that if I look for the same SE, they will take it a serious sign of interest and disturb me with phone calls, etc. What do you guys do for 2nd test drive?
  7. Planning to do a self drive in Japan. Any bro here have experience with rental cars? I did some research, one of the recommended car rental is Times cars. http://www.timescar-rental.com/. Are there any other recommended car rental companies with help desk staffs that speak English. Secondly, understand the Garmin GPS doesn't have maps for Japan, so need to use the GPS provided by the rental car. And they use map codes or phone numbers to locate your destinations. Will be my first time using map codes, care to share your experience? I checked the map code here http://www.mapion.co.jp/, one of the draw back of using map codes is it doesn't give the exact location. Your destination could be off by 50-100m from the actual destination. Hence i'm a little worry here.
  8. Original article link: https://garage36.wordpress.com/2015/08/11/clash-of-the-classics-porscheferrari-drive/ A couple of weeks back, i was invited to join in a local classic Ferrari/Porsche morning drive event and of course when such an invite comes in, you say “YES!”. Here’s a brief look at what went down. The little yellow 993 Cabriolet was the acting camera-car for the morning and i was happily camped behind the wheel with pilot duties. Kudos to the organizers of this drive for assembling together what i think is the largest convoy of old-school Stuttgart and Maranello sportscars our little country has ever seen, i'm guessing that took some bits of gentle persuasion. A trio of lovely white beauties. With a special shout out for that sexy Speedster. 1 of 2 remaining in Singapore. Speedster 2 of 2 soon joined in the waiting area. When i was a young kid, i used to think that Porsche 911s had a strange shape with a windscreen that just looked too upright, the Speedster changed that view totally with it's ridiculously short and raked windscreen, and i was enthralled. I remember buying a Tamiya 1/24 kit of one of these, it was a "Snap-Loc" model kit, for people like me with not much talent or luck for putting those things together. Slowly, more and more Porsches and Ferraris started entering the carpark and it really was a sight to behold. F355, one of my hero cars. Oh what a glorious noise these machines made when on the move. They're all about that bass, bout that bass... The first Ferrari i laid eyes upon as a kid. Been in love ever since, still can't afford one. While the Ferraris are just sex on wheels with many causing Love-at-first-sight syndromes, i find that classic Porsches and 911s on the other hand, sort of grow on you more and more every year. Another F-car we don't see very much nowadays, the 550/575 Maranello. 80s excess. Look at them strakes. Another 308. I want one so bad.
  9. Can any one recommend a free software to recover erased files for a USB thumbdrive? Can PM me too. thanks in advance!

  22. hi, my friend has a 520i bought 2 years already. since day 1, the car will vibrate when stop at traffic light in Drive mode. this is of course with the engine still running, idling at traffic lights. can feel the whole car vibrate from the feet and whole seat. every passenger can feel it. It happens the whole day even after warming up. the worst part is that his mechanic at PML says it is normal for this model. they even let my friend test sit the demo car to prove that their demo car has the same vibration. i help my friend search on BMW forums but no one complain of this permanent vibration. only some people complain of intermittent vibrations which goes away after warm up. anyone who drives 520i or has friends who has driven 520i, please comment whether yours got vibrate at idle?
  23. Romania. A country I'd heard of since young: childhood stories of gypsies, horror tales of Dracula. Then, about the dictator Nicolae Ceausescu & wife Elena & their execution. More recent news was about the hit n run saga by its diplomat silviu ionescu. Never thought of visiting this country. Then, interest was kindled by these chaps who did a special in Romania:
