  1. This afternoon, 23 July 2015 @ 1250 hrs, was on my way back to office in Jurong Island. At the junction of Sakra Road and Jurong Island Highway, a tipper truck suddenly turned when I entered the junction. Luckily I was able to brake on time. To think I nearly died. My_Movie.wmv

  3. anyone take her taxi before?
  4. I really don't understand what's going on in her mind (yes, its a woman driver).
  5. What is wrong with taxi drivers nowadays? Terrible, terrible, terrible ! So fed-up I sent the following complaint to SMRT. Wait till I get my in-car video camera and next time when such incidents happen again, I will send the video recordings straight to the Traffic Police. ========================================== To: SMRT I am writing to lodge a complaint against SMRT taxi driver of SHB 5968 U. On 13 Oct 2013, at approximately, 6:16pm, I was Bukit Batok West Ave 3 traffic junction (Lane 2), waiting to turn right into Bukit Batok Road. I was the first vehicle. On my right (Lane 1) was SMRT taxi SHB 5968 U, also the first vehicle. When the traffic light turned green in our favour, both our vehicles proceeded to turn right. However, the SMRT taxi SHB 5968 U, instead of turning from lane 1 into the corresponding lane 1, dangerously turned into my turning lane (lane 2) instead, almost causing a near accident terrible accident. I had to immediately jam-brake and blare my horn to register the danger. The SMRT taxi driver (SHB 5968 U) was unhappy with being horned at and tailed me to the next traffic light. He stopped next to my car (it was red light), wound down his window, and I wound down my front passenger window (where my wife was seated - behind were my young children). He made some hand gestures and I told him he should turn properly from lane 1 into the corresponding lane 1. He then made some smuck facial expressions that he saw nothing wrong with his driving, before flashing his middle-finger at both my wife and myself. He then sped off. We travelled along the same direction and over at Brickland Road traffic light junction, when it was red light, i managed to take a photo of the SMRT taxi concerned (SHB 5968 U). I am registering my complaint specifically on the following: 1) Dangerous and inconsiderate driving by SMRT taxi driver of SHB 5968 U - turning from a lane 1 turning lane into a lane 2 turning lane and almost resulting in an accident. 2) Rude and unbecoming behavior with the flashing of his middle-finger at my wife and myself I encourage SMRT to review the in-cab video camera of SMRT taxi SHB 5968U and its black-box, if any (I understand Comfort delgro cab installs such devices). It will show very clearly how your SMRT driver drove so dangerously and inconsiderately. I saw that there were passengers in the taxi as well. I encourage SMRT to try and contact them and i am sure, they can verify how your SMRT taxi driver of SHB 5968U had flashed his middle-finger, unprovoked. The relevant illustration and photo is attached for reference. I am extremely appalled and troubles over this callous and dangerous SMRT taxi driver of SHB 5968U. He had not only shown his lack of understanding of prevailing driving rules, but also displayed an unbecoming behavior that speaks so negatively of SMRT, an established Singapore public transport and service provider. I would like SMRT to investigate this matter and I do sincerely demand an explanation as well as SMRT's follow-up actions taken against this terrible driver of SMRT SHB 5968U. I look forward to SMRT's prompt update. Thank you. 8. Met an irresponsible Lady Lexus driver this morning while ferrying my baby to my Mother place at the cross junction of Mandai Road and Sembawang Road. The light already turned red for a good 3 to 5sec and she still rush OUT!!!! These are the scums that cause major accident on the road! Very similar to the Ferrari case! Luckily i saw the bikes stop and I stop immediately, my view was blocked by the bikes and din't know some idiot would rush out. Next time better wait for a while before moving off from traffic light! 11. Hi, Please show how your Driver Information System looks like for your car incl. what kind of info is available for FC. I'll start off with mine. Car: Audi A3 sedan 1.4T (MY '15) Since: about 2 months ago. Single trip (non-peak traffic): 21.9km/L at avg speed of 65km/h over distance of ~35km. Long Term (since I got the car): 17.8km/L at avg speed of 36km/h over distance of ~5700km. Accuracy: ECU overestimate about 0.3 to 0.5km/L compared to manual pump calculation. Overall this car exceeded my most optimistic expectation on fuel economy esp. for a petrol engine. My previous 1.6L Jap car got me around 12-13km/L on the same driving pattern. I can never imagine a car can go over 1000 km per 50L tank under normal driving conditions. And I even turned off the irritating start-stop system which supposed can save more fuel.

  14. Hi Guys, Just wanna spread and share the news of this "Unlicensed Taxi Driver" so you can warn any of ur beloved friends/relatives when they came to Singapore. Personally, one of my oversea friend came to singapore 3 weeks ago (just before CNY) also kanna this type "unlicensed taxi" too. Btw, my friend is NOT the poster of this link. Though cannot say is this particular guy, as my friend thought (being bluffed) he was an official taxi driver. But my friend was charged $45 from Robertson Quay Hotel to Alexandra Ikea area, fixed price. Only after my friend checked with me, then we realised something was not right, but that was too late. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1011898362172154&set=a.389305291098134.105936.100000559982993&type=1
  15. Hi, I am driving a 2006 Toyota Vios. This morning when I wind down my car window, the window misaligned. I tried to wind it back up but it just got stuck there. As it was auto window (driver side), it went up and down again. Is this due to the power window module up lorry?

  17. I've never understood why anyone will sit on roadside kerbs. It's so dangerous and things like this can happen to you. Are they really so unaware of the potential dangers? ======= Taxi driver fined $4,000 and banned from the road after reversing into student By Elena Chong SINGAPORE - An elderly taxi driver who reversed into a student and pinned her under his car was fined $4,000 and banned from driving for three years on Monday. Thow Ngok Sen, 69, had been performing a u-turn when he changed his mind and reversed, and backed into 22-year-old Ms Abigail Ow Hui Xia who had been sitting on a kerb at a Bishan bus stop with her boyfriend. He mounted the kerb and ran into her as she tried to get out of the way, knocking her over. A passer-by told Thow to move his cab forward to free her but his tyre ran over her thigh. Ms Ow spent two months in hospital for spinal injuries and fractures to her pelvic area and now cannot walk unaided.

  19. I have been thinking of this issue for a while and have in my small way attempted to be a better driver when I hit the road. Since this is a car forum and the year is coming to an end, I thought it might be apt for me to come clean and make a commitment towards contributing to a better driving experience. Towards this, I have made some resolutions in writing to improve my driving etiquette with immediate effect. Of course there would be people who feel that perhaps we should conduct ourselves better in all aspects of our short tour in this mortal world, but for now, I would start a small step towards contributing to good driving experiences to all fellow motorists in this little red dot of ours. Hence, my resolutions wrt being a driver are: 1. Give way to fellow motorists; 2. Apologize instantaneously when I made a mistake; 3. Stick to speed limits; 4. Give way to pedestrians; 5. Stop fiddling with gadgets while driving; 6. Give up parking spot when I am not in a hurry; 7. Less critical of mistakes committed by other drivers; and 8. Cater more time to reach my destinations; and 9. Wear a smile whenever I am behind the wheel. Having resolved to the above, and being a lesser mortals, I would confess that I may still commit the below less than acceptable conducts: 1. Park illegally (for some conveniences while doing quick errands provided I do not obstruct normal traffic flow); 2. Cheat 5-10 minutes on my parking coupons before and after parking ; I hope in my small way I can contribute to better road safety and driving experience to fellow motorists and myself. Cheers!
  20. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUCm4Dmf-VI And so while otw to our department lunch this afternoon, @Kobayashigt and myself encountered this Mercedes Driver SKP1620P. This was along Thomson Road/Moulmein Road (outside Velocity). We have no idea where he came out from as the lane beside us was a mandatory right turn lane.

  22. Im wondering how to make our Gov wake up their mind. Its not the 1st time I came across such news, in fact, such case happened to 1 of my close buddy at AMK. It obvious case that its the pedestrian fault and why driver tio charge until so jialat? Is Gov trying to encourage the pedestrian to be more careless as they are protected by law no matter what? I undestand that the jaywalker already deceased and I shouldnt rubbing salt on others wound but I really pity the driver... he is the actual innocent fellow here. I hope government could be more fair when handling such cases. Dont give people the wrong impresssion and continue to try their luck on the road. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ source: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/fine-driving-ban-for/1330614.html SINGAPORE: A 77-year-old retiree was fined S$7,000 and banned from driving for five years on Tuesday (Aug 26) for causing the death of a pedestrian through his negligence. Willie Chan York Jen pleaded guilty to causing the death of 75-year-old Mr Mohamed Ibrahim Yusoff while driving along Lorong 2 Toa Payoh at the cross junction of Lorong 6 Toa Payoh on Dec 21 last year. At about 5.45pm that day, Chan was driving along Lorong 2 Toa Payoh and heading towards the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) on his way home after playing badminton with friends. He stopped at a red light while travelling on the four-lane road at Lorong 2 Toa Payoh. When the traffic light turned green in his favour, he proceeded to drive straight across the cross junction. He did not see Mr Ibrahim, who began crossing the road when the red-man traffic signal was displayed. Chan failed to keep a proper lookout and Mr Ibrahim was hit by the front right corner of his car. Mr Ibrahim sustained head injuries, and was bleeding from the mouth and became short of breath. He fell unconscious and was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where he died later that night. Chan could have been jailed up to two years and/or fined for causing death through a negligent act.
  23. http://youtu.be/MGIPmWd24kc Was clearing my SD card when i came across this video back in 31 Jan 2014. I was traveling along KPE towards Punggol when the SMRT taxi cross the diagonally hatched divider road markings. So I gave him a normal horn just to get his attention.. (not those long horn to irritate him) Video no sound as my car cam recorder audio settings was not activated. I saw him cross the divider and i brake lightly to slow my speed (at around 4 sec in the video) and then i release my brake as I though he will still be moving. Then dunno for what reason he jam brake in front of me. This guy must be an idiot i guess.
  24. Lucky there is a bike infront of me and extra lucky the rider check before he move... btw i am not against any brand of car... http://youtu.be/K7_8tLRrxoQ
