From STOMP: 1st driver http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...ns_carpark.html Posted on 31 May 2012 Local actress parks her cute car illegally like she owns carpark STOMPer DLL saw a local actress park this car, taking up both car and motorcycle parking lots. Said the STOMPer: "I saw a local actress in sunglasses park her retro 500c car like she owns the whole car park. "She even blocked motorbikes from parking. "I think she is a local Channel 8 actress called Yvonne." ***** 2nd driver http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...she_drives.html Posted on 30 May 2012 Dog driving car? No, it's woman who lets pet sit on lap while driving STOMPer Vintage0211 spotted a driver on the road, whose pet dog was resting on her lap and seemed as though it was driving the car. 2. Hi guys, Anyone of you out there successfully argued and got back compensation from inconsiderate lorry or van drivers who slam their doors on your cars? Today in Vivocity, my car and another car, one lot away, got paint chips and deep scratches becoz of an inconsiderate lorry driver and his passenger who parked in-between us. Got evidence and his license plate with my video camera, but how can we track him down for repair costs? Or should me and the other poor driver (the one with more deep scratches than mine), just hit our heads on the wall for being so "lucky"... Buy 4D also not so "heng"... The other side of my car fender was seriously dented by another lorry door some time ago, that time no video camera to take evidence... Now have, but not sure if got use or not... I must go pray more to gods and start buying lottery already....
  3. Alamak... Low pay no enough now must make them work longer. Is this kind of work arrangement consistent with the loud calls for a more inclusive society?
  4. SMRT raises bus drivers' pay SINGAPORE: SMRT on Thursday raised the basic monthly salary for Singaporean bus drivers. The bus drivers will now get S$1625, a 35 per cent increase compared to the previous pay of S$1,200. SMRT said with the change, bus drivers could expect to take home about S$2,500 per month, including overtime, allowances and other incentives. SMRT said current bus drivers would also receive a pay rise. The public transport operator said the higher remuneration is aimed at attracting more Singaporeans into the industry. The pay raise also comes on the back of a similar move by the other bus operator, SBS Transit, less than a month ago. Singaporean bus drivers with SBS Transit now bring home a basic pay of S$1,600, compared to the S$1375 previously. - CNA/wm Remember all the argument about their pay.................. here you go. Question. Who pays for it? The S$1B grant or loan or whatever you call it or SMRT itself?
  5. After reading a few threads on MCF, noticed alot of men complaining about women parking and so on. 7. Malaysian highway robbers spray liquid on tyres to create smoke Highway robbers now using new tactic to rob motorists, a Stomp contributor claimed according to an e-mail he received. Tue, Mar 27, 2012 AsiaOne A Stomp contributor sent in this e-mail that highlighted a new tactic currently used by highway robbers in Malaysia. The contributor Chiongster said the robbers spray a liquid on the tyres that creates a burst of smoke to fool unwary drivers into pulling over. The Stomp contributor called for fellow drivers to be careful when they drive into Malaysia, especially in Petaling Jaya and areas around Kuala Lumpur. He said: "Take steps to protect yourself, and don't stop unnecessarily. If you have to pull over, do it where there are lots of people nearby." "When you encounter such a situation, don't panic. Stay calm and don't park your car to check what is going on," the contributor added. "Once you get out from your car, they will snatch your belongings or may even harm you. "If you ever encounter such an incident, drive to a safe place where crowded people are or to a petrol or police station. As for the stain, use water to clean it up, that's all. Female motorists should be especially careful, he said, before adding that such a case had happened before.

  11. From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Story/...ory_773082.html Ban vehicle accessories that distract drivers Published on Mar 3, 2012 I AM appalled that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) allows in-car video entertainment systems on the dashboard ('Glitzy video gadgets a distraction for drivers'; Feb 22). I am not against the use of in- vehicle entertainment devices, per se. Audio players can entertain drivers and help keep them alert. GPS devices also aid drivers in unknown territory. And having portable video players can help calm hyperactive children when travelling. However, it is ridiculous to allow drivers to install video-playing devices in the driver's view. It is already dangerous when drivers talk on their mobile phones; and it will be more so if they take their eyes off the road to watch a video. While multi-tasking is a time- saving skill in the workplace, it is a potentially deadly habit on the road. If drivers do not concentrate on driving, they will be blind to dangers. Such errant drivers must be kept off the road, for the safety of other road users, through a mandatory jail term and driving ban. In addition, insurers should treat the installation of such entertainment devices, in positions that might compromise safety, as illegal modifications, and decline insurance. The authorities should confiscate such vehicles when they are caught on the road. Tan Hong Chan

  13. Hi all, Is it true that following a fast running taxi at E-way is generally safe without being caught by camera? Sometimes, I find some taxi drivers (with passengers) driving very fast along E-way, aren't they afraid of the speed camera signs or what? Some friends told me taxi are very informative and they all know which are the roads that they can drive very fast and they inform each other where are the speed trap areas. What do you guys think of this? Regards,
  14. Yesterday driving on the CTE saw a white Lexus SUV cutting in & out of traffic at high speeds. He was going from lane 1 to lane 4, and back again to lane 1 repeating this all the way until I lost sight of him. Also Tailgating cars all the way and swerving in/out into small gaps. It was really dangerous and arrogant driving Is it common to see such extreme cases? (usually see people just switch between lane 1 & 2) Will the Traffic Police do anything if they see this, or is it ok to drive like that?
  15. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/site/ser...amp;escKey=true A caution to all drivers. Never drives too close to Motorcyclists. You will never know what will happen next . .

  17. I really wonder what that many have these thoughts that as long as you are slow, you will be safe... Slow drivers tend to be more "relaxed" during the drive and being more relaxing hence driver's reaction time would be compromised. Compromised driving should be taken off roads as it could be equally dangerous as

  19. http://motoring.asiaone.com/Motoring/News/...207-314871.html Clementi worst place to drive to work in the mornings Those living in Clementi have the worst morning commute to the city centre, a TomTom survey revealed. -AsiaOne Wed, Dec 07, 2011 AsiaOne SINGAPORE - Motorists living in Clementi have the worst morning commute to the city centre, with driving time increasing nearly 2.5 times during the peak hours compared to when the roads are clear. Bukit Timah came in second while Bishan and Jurong West were ranked third- and fourth-worst for the average commute with traffic times more than doubling, a survey by TomTom, a company that makes in-car navigation devices, revealed on Wednesday. The Dutch company collected anonymous data from its GPS users over a six-month period from Sept 2010 for the survey. Tampines was the area least affected by peak hour traffic, the survey revealed. Travel times from Tampines to the city increased by only 35 per cent during morning peak hour. But the data told a different story for Tampines in the evening. The town zoomed to the top of the chart with the worst evening commute back from the city. An average drive to the city, which usually takes about 19 minutes, doubled to about 37 minutes during the evening rush hour, data revealed.
  20. Bros please stay away from foreign-registered vehicles when on our local roads/expressways if you can help it. Whenever I can I will either slown down, speed up or best filter out of the lane itself when a foreign-registered vehicle is nearby to play safe. The experience by this frustrated motorist is a reason why I am so paranoid about this kiasi practice. What recourse does he have? From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Story/...ory_736907.html S'pore drivers at a disadvantage Published on Nov 23, 2011 RECENTLY, I was involved in an accident with a Malaysian-registered car driven by a Malaysian motorist here. He and I agreed to lodge a police report and to submit our claims with our respective motor insurers. But when I visited an authorised workshop of my insurer, Overseas Assurance Corporation (OAC), I was told that the workshop did not entertain claims against Malaysian drivers of Malaysian- registered cars because of the red tape involved. I was rebuffed by other similar workshops I called. What was shocking was that the Malaysian driver managed to submit a claim against me. OAC informed me that it was increasing my premiums upon renewal because it had received a claim filed by the driver's Singapore workshop against me. The increase would be permanent if the claim succeeded. When I asked OAC to process my claim because all other workshops had refused, OAC refused, stating that it was not a legal firm. I was given to understand that a Singapore motorist had to hire a lawyer to submit a claim for an accident in Singapore involving a Malaysian-registered car. Till then, my impression was that one was covered for all accidents that happened on Singapore roads. The irony must be obvious: Foreigners in a foreign-registered car can use Singapore workshops to make a claim for an accident against a local motorist in a Singapore-registered car plying Singapore roads. Shouldn't the authorities ensure that the laws on our roads prioritise protection for Singapore motorists ahead of foreigners in foreign-registered vehicles? Wong Shi Shen
  21. Can anyone share with me which iphone apps can allow the driver to see his own speed in digital format? of act as a head up with a floating digital speedo on the wind screen?
  22. an incident happen at Bedok point yesterday evening and i'm sure the driver is one of us here as i was crossing a small service road with my wife, about 2 lane wide, i saw a silver honda civic turning out about 100m away as it is in a open carpark, i've estimate there are plenty of time for me to reach the other side safely since i'm already at center of the 2 way lane. (take about 6 to 7 steps from center to reach the road pavement) know what the mother parker did? instead of maintaining his speed (he need to slow down since exiting the carpark is using cashcard) and i was crossing 4 or 5 meters away from the cashcard barrier, he pick up speed cause can here his exhaust acceleration noise. of course i maintain cool but to avoid trouble just quicken my pace and the CB jam brake and give 3 second horn since his hand is so horny, i just him wtf look, who look like early or mid 20's in an office attire and of course there is a charbor as his passenger who he might be trying to impress with his stunt so i gesture him to come out as predicted he just rev and park off i'm not a person who like to take a yaya walk on road i respect both pedestrian and drivers but this type of drivers if really kena wallop will have no pity from me
  23. http://www.sripetaling.com.my/forum/sri-pe...nd-traffic-jam/ My friend was robbed in broad day light(4 pm) in Kesas Shah Alam. Four malay guys in a car rammed into my friend's BMW from the side. Then when my friend saw their suspicious behaviour, he didn;t wanna stop but accelerate instead. The robbers still hit him again from behind and managed to stopped in front of him. You wouldn't expect what they will do during robbery. Then they came down with ice pick and crashed his windows. They managed to flee with all his belongings and my friend is badly hurt with dozens of stitches. My advice: for ladies especially, never put any bags or valuables on top of your seat as these idiots are very good in spotting anything valuables in the car. They like to act during traffic jam, with ice pick. That takes them less than 30 seconds to break your window with ice pick and grab your belongings. You will risk your life if you try to resist because the ice pick tool is so handy and it's better than a knife for this purpose. 8:28 pm November 4, 2011 Ops - New Member Print this Post 2 Terrible. Case 1: After badminton training, a 19yr boy left home in his kancil. He was surround by 3 cars and they wanted to push him inside their car and demanded rm30,000.
