Published on Dec 8, 2011 Officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force recovered a body from the shores of East Coast beach on Tuesday. The body, believed to be that of a 60-year-old Chinese man, was first spotted floating off the beach near the East Coast Seafood Centre. He was clad in a green T-shirt with stripes, black bermudas and black shoes. Shin Min Daily News reported on Wednesday that he was also bleeding from his eyes and nose. When I was in my U days, I used to patronized this Chicken rice stall in Far East Plaza 5th floor. The one with all the MU posters all over the shop. And they serve kai lan with oyster sauce. I went last week, this shop no longer there....anyone knows where they shift to? They use to have full house of students!!

Date: 16 Oct 2011 Time: 11:00pm Location: Cross-Junction of Jurong East Central outside block 241 (Jurong East Ave 1) Hit and Run vehicle: Dark red car. Driver looked like a 50-60+ uncle; half bald. Car was also loaded with 3/4 other passengers (around 50-60+ year old). The dark red car was traveling along Jurong East Ave 1 and turned left at the cross-junction of Jurong East Central (outside block 241) towards Bukit Batok. The traffic condition was in favor (green man) for my sister to cross. The dark red car made a left turn without watching out for any pedestrian, knocked into her, didn't get off the car to check if she was ok and drove off. My sister had to limp 200m home. She mentioned there was a young chap who witnessed the whole accident. Slim hope but if you are reading this, please PM me. Would like to have at least a car plate number if you remember. I'm irked by such irresponsible driver. If you knock into ANYONE, you MUST stop the car immediately and check if the person is OK. Even if the person says he is ok, you need to provide your contact number should there be a need to seek medical attention. Such driver should be taken off the road. Thank you. They are: Chong Rui Hong and Ng Wei Lun, both 19 years old, 20-year-old Puay De Feng and 21-year-old Jason Chew Wei Beng. While those convicted of murder will be sent to the gallows, the young men can instead be jailed up to seven years and caned if they are found guilty of rioting. All four are now accused of being members of an unlawful assembly whose common object was to cause grievous hurt to Darren Ng Wei Jie on October 30, 2010. Court documents stated that one or more members of the group allegedly used violence on the Republic Polytechnic student by stabbing and slashing him with knives, choppers as well as a screwdriver. Puay and Chew will be back in court on September 28 while the case involving the other two will be mentioned again next month. Eight other youths, between 16 and 22-year-old, who are also believed to be involved in the case still face murder charges. They include 20-year-old Stilwell Ong Keat Pin and 21-year-old Ho Wui Ming. The group allegedly attacked Darren between 5.30pm and 6pm at the main foyer of Downtown East on October 30. He succumbed to his injuries and died in Changi General Hospital about five hours later. Seven of these youths will have their cases re-mentioned on November 2. An eighth alleged accomplice, 21-year-old Lewis Wee Jun Jie will be back in court on September 19. - CNA/ck

Happened about 15 minutes ago, front part of car badly smashed. This stretch of road had seen quite a number of accidents and yet nothing is done to curb speeding along this straight road all the way from Sengkang East Road. The previous accident happened a few months back where a taxi was rear ended and the boot almost flatten.

I have been using this exit to ECP every morning, this is opposite the Esso station, The slip road is wide enough for 2 cars abreast though it's a single lane. No problem even with buses. Thus I feedback in early april to raise this concern of heavy usage during the morning peak hours. I have observed those that used this lane daily will understand how others will drive, however, those that may not be familiar to this stretch will not realise some drivers will just also drive from right lane to the left slip road and requested a widen slip road to officially make this into a two lane slip road like Lornie road, Marine Parade road to ECP etc. LTA has replied on the 9 May to inform they will widen the road to improve a better traffic flow in a more regulated manner. Do you all agree with such changes?

Sinkie who stayed in the EASTERN part of Sinkland seems to have more balls, stronger spine which translate to being better ppl overall! Result of the 2011 election show voters in Hougang, Aljunied and East Coast GRC, Joo Chiat have fewer spoilt votes and are more Pro to opposition as reported by ST. Since this is a data backed result, ST can't spin the numbers and facts. So MCF bros who are in the quoted areas...particularly in the EAST... Be proud... At least you have the conscience and the balls to back it up!

Today a bit frustrated. After pumped full tank at SPC Siglap, expected to be given additional $4 discount for the $90 petrol like last week, but was not given. Then found out that the discount only valid in SPC Bedok beside Bedok Stadium! Wasted $4. So if you pump SPC and stay in Bedok area, do pump at SPC Bedok to enjoy the $2 discount for every $40 petrol. Valid till end of April only.

A 19-year-old youth repeatedly hacked by a group of youths in full view of a crowd died in hospital hours later. The violent attack and subsequent attempt by the youth and his friends to flee left a 500m long trail of blood at the Pasir Ris resort and amusement park. No one has been arrested and police have classified the case as murder. Darren Ng Wei Jie was with two friends when they got into a 'staring incident' with a group of about 10 teenagers. Witnesses The Straits Times spoke to said the encounter started with angry words, but this descended into a punch-fest on the lawn just outside fast-food restaurant MacDonald's. It is believed Darren's attacker produced a chopper and slashed him several times. The bleeding teenager and his friends tried to escape by running towards a row of indoor restaurants and shops called The Alley. The dead youth is believed to have been in his third year at Republic Polytechnic and also in its water polo team. Anyone with information may call the police at 1800-255-0000.

Any recommendations for east side? Roughly know whats is the 'reasonable' price? I know you all duno wats the problem with my player but roughly? Thanks

Hi, It is a reverse and hit case. This noon time, while driving along upper east coast towards city direction, while waiting for traffic light at the juction of Bedok south ave 1, the Nissan lorry in front suddenly reserved and hit my car in the front. Too late after earing the reverse sound i have no time to react. The lorry driver came and said sorry, initially he wanted me to go to his workshop for private settlement which I have agreed. However after he called his company boss (it is a company lorry), he changed his mind and wanted to settle through insurance. When I came to report the accident with insurance workshop, I was told even though it is not my fault, the situation makes me in the disadvantage, and he said based on his experience, 9 out 10 reserve hit case, the reserve driver will deny and the one being hit is made to pay. This is extremely frustruting. And if I make third party claim and lose the case in the end, I will have to pay all the repair cost by myself as my insurance company wont pay if third party claim fails. So they suggest do own damage claim first, if other party deny, at least I can have my insurance company cover the repair cost. There were two cars in from of lorry in the same lane, and another car in the side lane. Mine is red Latio sport. If you happen to be at the scene, appreciate you could pm me, your help is deeply appreciated. thanks Stdfrank

Nov 11, 2010 Police have arrested 19 youths who appeared at the subordinate courts on Wednesday. They are believed to be gang members. Recently I came to take notice of a house that seems to be abandoned - 297 Upper East Coast Road. It is of latest modern design, completely rebuilt, yet is in very bad condition with fallen leaves everywhere in its front yard. Never see anybody in the house at night for a long stretch already. I am sure it will find a lot of interested buyers if put in market due to its modern architectural outlook. Is anybody in the know willing to provide any information why it is in this state?
