  1. A Statement About Fuel Economy As gasoline prices have increased, the consumer has shifted priorities to become increasingly concerned with fuel consumption. GM is presently proud to offer 20 cars in the U.S. with EPA highway estimates of at least 30 mpg. The information below contains reasonable and prudent advice for your dealership and the consumer to get the most from every gallon of gas. The information below is presented in two easy to understand sections:
  2. If it doesn't rain, take out the wipers. Wipers contribute to a lot of wind drag. Make sure to keep in boot to put them back on when it rains. Make sure TP don't catch you w/o wipers. Radio entennae contribute to wind drag. If you can retract the entenna, please do. If yours is not retractable, remove the entenna and drive one day w/o it to see if you can still receive your favorite radio stations. If can, consider replacing it with a stub. If you are driving around in Singapore and since all those AAS rescue trucks can be called quickly, remove spare tire or keep a can of Fix-A-Flat in your boot. If you drive MPV and the 3rd row seats can be removed and most of the time they are not used, remove them and keep at home. If can engineer it, remove power steering from the car. Overpressuring tires. There is a science to it. No anyhow guess. Most agree that 4psi above what is required by your manual. So if yours say 30psi, you pump 34psi. Also make sure tires are the skinniest allowed by your manual. Consider fitting cruise control. It is cool. Go to Detailing folder and learn from Gen2 to polish until super shiny. Can reduce wind drag. If you got SUV, sell it.
  3. Dear all brudders & sheesters... While I have no problem knowing what makes an engine perform better, the recent hikes in petrol prices have forced me to take a safer route on modifications. I would welcome all comments from car owners who have done the under mentioned "upgrades" and whether it had made petrol economy better or worse. The car make/model is appreciated in the info too. (For example:- Honda Fit, K&N drop in filter, fuel economy better, performance slightly improved. Hope this thread can help all fellow drivers in choosing wisely what to upgrade and what to leave alone (For the sake of saving petrol) The list:- 1. ECU (Please state the brand too) 2. K&N drop in air filter 3. K&N Open pod 4. Sports rims (Same size as original) 5. Sports rims (+1") 6. Capsule 7. Grounding/volt stabilizer
  4. Yes, I was getting 13.5km/L but now for 2 consecutive fuel pumpings, I'm getting 14km/L! A/C on all the time. Taylor style driving for 90% of the time. Not exceeding 100kph on the expressways.
  5. I have the impression that the corolla G9 is a very economical car. Read in other forums that fuel comsumption is very good. Latest i heard from a friend that the car used 19 litres for 400 km. That is from SIN to KL. Find it hard to believe, maybe those corolla bro using G9 may like to share their best consumption figure to let us know how the rest of the G9 fare in term of low fuel consumption. My friend 21 km/l
  6. both cars boast about their own technology to boost fuel economy ....... any owner wanna share their FC ?
  7. Read the article/study done by Cummins. Please click here. It is a .pdf so make sure you have Acrobat Reader installed. There is this section on aerodynamic treatment. After seeing the pics and the success of it, I better Klasse and keep the car clean.
