  1. It's always empty... Do you ever use it?
  2. Over the past weekend I met this lady in a pub at a halloween party. She is a divorcee who is in her mid-thirties and doesn't look her age at all. I liked her at first sight and fell in love with her after a whole night of conversation. I feel that she's someone I'm looking for, an independent and open-minded lady who can be faithful in a serious relationship. What are the chances of this relationship working out if I were to start one with her? How do you guys see it developing? Anyone has a similar experience and how did it turn out? Will it end up in a happy marriage for both of us? FYI I'm in my mid-twenties nearing 30 and right now I'm in a dilemma. Pls kindly advise and thanks in advance!

  8. I cannot comment on OCS / SISPEC but I find that it is almost impossible for anyone to fail a vocational course in the SAF. There are people who get OOC because of injury but I have never heard of anyone failing due to sheer incompetence. Is my observation correct or have anyone come across people who were so out of their element they actually got the boot? While we are on this topic, is it true that the most CMI officers end up as RP or MTO?
  9. As per above poll: I want to know how many of you (guys) ever done plastic surgery before, out of purely vanity reasons? Those who done plastic due to accidents or medical deformity reasons, no need to count.
  10. I just wanna recommend Singapore Dreaming to people who have yet to watch it. I watched it in 2006 on an SQ flight and loved it. It moved me to bits. I've been scouring VCD/DVD stores around Singapore so that I can sink whatever amount to own a copy of the DVD. No luck. Had to resort to renting it from VideoEzy. Boy the second time was as good as the first. It's such a good show. Acting was sterling, shots were sublime. If you haven't watched it, then you're missing out. I'm in no way affiliated to anyone invested in the film. I'm just a huge fan, and I realised that quite a few of my friends haven't watched it. It would be such as a waste for anyone to not see this film - one that is so moving a portrayal of the trials and tribulations of the average Singaporean. Watch it and tell me what you think. :)

  17. Woman who leased car to rental company gets into trouble I didn't know it was illegal By Amanda Yong January 20, 2009 SADDLED with two car loans, she thought she had found a way out. The woman, who wanted to be known only as Ms Lim, leased one of her cars to a car rental company for about $800 a month. She said she did not know that this was illegal. When her 5-year-old black Subaru Impreza car went missing in Johor Baru, she got into a mess. Firstly, because what she did was illegal, she was not covered by her insurance. Then, as she could not meet the monthly instalments after the car hire company stopped paying her, the bank threatened to declare her a bankrupt. Thankfully, she managed to get her car back four months after it went missing. The person who had leased the car and the car rental company helped her to track it down. Ms Lim, 35, a receptionist, said her ex-husband paid the car's instalments of about $800 a month until their divorce in 2006. They have one son, who lives with her. She gets $500 a month from her ex-husband. Maintenance cost too high They had bought the car in December 2003 with a 10-year loan. She took over payment of the loan, but decided to rent out the car to cover the high cost of maintaining it. Said Ms Lim: 'I didn't sell the car because I still had a big outstanding loan on it. What I would have got from selling it wouldn't have been much. 'My friend then recommended this car rental company to me and I thought it was a good idea because it would cover the monthly instalments to the bank.' She said she had signed a contract with the company, but she could not show us a copy when we asked to see it. She is also paying off the $500 monthly instalment for the loan she took on the car she was driving, a second-hand 1992 Honda Civic, which she had bought in 2004 for her own use. In September, the car rental company informed her that her car was missing and said it would no longer pay her. Ms Lim was working as a civil servant at that time and was earning about $1,700 a month. 'When I was renting out the car, it was still manageable for me in terms of finances,' she said. 'But when the car went missing, it became impossible to pay for two cars.' In December, the bank sent her a notice seeking payment of the outstanding sum of more than $53,000 as she had been defaulting on the monthly payments. She claimed she got the hirer to file a police report. According to it, his friend had borrowed the car in August and taken it to JB, where it was stolen. She also filed police reports, and asked the car rental firm for help to look for the car. But when she went to her insurance company, she was told she would not be compensated. 'They said my car wasn't covered because I had rented it out, which I wasn't supposed to do,' said Ms Lim. 'It was only then that I found out it was illegal to rent out my car.' Car owners are allowed to rent out their vehicles on certain days if they meet some requirements. (See report above.) After she got her car back late last month, she managed to sell it to a car exporter for about $26,000 and the money went towards paying the bank. Ms Lim who now earns $2,000 monthly, has refinanced the loan with a finance company that offered her lower interest. The car rental firm has also agreed to pay her the $3,400 in instalments which she owed the bank while the car was missing. The New Paper called the car rental firm but it did not want to comment. CAR RENTAL COMPANY WILL TELL YOU NO PROBLEM, BUT ONCE IT HAPPEN THEY WILL JUST CALL YOU AND SAY .IT YOUR BLOOD PROBLEM . BANK WILL CALL YOU NOT US , MORON
  18. For those staying in the northern and western part of Singapore, you should know that our car parks are more prone to incidents of theives, i.e. wheels stolen, or even entire vehicle missing, as compared to other parts of the island. The question is, with such incidents getting more and more rampant, and having going on for so long, has the police ever caught one of those theives before??? I never see such news being reported in the papers... what are the police doing, wasting our tax money on donuts?
