  1. Any modded the N16 exhaust before? what's the optimum piping size recommended? 1.75" or 2" piping?
  2. Hi bros out there , anyone can advise me where can i get used lta aproved exhuast setup. i am driving a suzuki grand vitara (SUV) Thanks newbie
  3. Hi folks, I actually search and cannot find the answer to this question above. Can only find stuffs like what exhausts sounds nice, the tip looks good etc. Hope to hear some comments. We all know that the original exhausts are known to be restrictive, google and found that it can help increase Hp etc, but in terms of actual FC, if the driver drives the same way, will it help?? I read somewhere that aftermarket exhaust provides a quicker and more efficient path for the exhaust gases to escape. But then oversizing the exhaust may also result in power loss. Why I ask is that someone is offering me a used one at a good price. (Pass LTA one lah) So need to know from those who have been there, done that to share their experience. Cheers. Some Ref:- http://autospeed.com/cms/A_1466/article.html
  4. like to seek advice of any bros here who have similar experience... my COE car corolla now blowing out white smoke and engine oil consumption is exceptionally high. 2 days after topping up need to refill again. From the search here, I guess it is probably piston ring, gasket or valve seal. Am I right? If so, this is my first time encountering such situation. Can anyone enlighten me on what is the cost of repairing/overhaul such issues? More importantly, any good workshop to recommend and how long will this take? [PM me pls?]
  5. eh... not really modding, so post it here. My centre can (whatever it is call) is very old and crack. Went to change a new one. Was given a metallic blue round one. Will I get myself into trouble on the coming inspection?
  6. Saw the ad for Remus Exhaust in the latest Wheels magazine pg 58 (first saw in Straits Times classifieds) "Street legal for wide range of cars" Distributed by Kingcrimson Marketing Pte Ltd 227 Lavender Street Tel: 299-9239 Fax: 229-2232 email: [email protected] Think I'll email them to enquire more about the exhaust being legal for my car... What do u guys think?
  7. S/S extractor 4-1 & operator exhaust for sale only fit toyota wish sms me at 98531833
  8. Dear bros, hope you guys dun mind answering my noobie question. I've just changed exhaust and the shop gave me back the old one. Am I suppose to keep it in case when I want to sell car then can sell the third party exhaust? I am not sure cos this is the first time I change exhaust and it seems quite silly to keep the old exhaust for at least a few years. Thanks.
  9. 1. I read this from Option Mag on topic regarding the myth of modding air-intake and exos, page 110 for Dec 07 issue. They did 3 tests to a stock auto car: a) only install aftermarket air-intake (sponsored by Simota, not drop-in type) b) install both aftermarket exo and air-intake c) only install aftermarket exo(branded exo was used but no name mentioned) The on the road D-Box test results (air-intake, expel air, intake+expel): a) marginal improvement than stock condition b) Not better than stock condition c) Better result than a) & b). 2. I tried to summarize. The principle of modifying air-intake is simple, i.e. aim to enhance air-exchange efficiency. At high rpm, high rev, you wanted the most unobstructed air passage to aid the combustion in the engine and at the sametimes expel out expanded air as fast as possible. So therotically speaking, it should enhance horsepower. At low-end, if the intake is too great, it actually obstructs the expanded air as it is more difficult to expel them, causing obstruction instead. It doesn't mean enhancing air-intake is no good, but its actual performance boost comes better at high rpm. So for a stop-start traffic, enhancing air-intake is not going to help alot or not at all. 3. They went on to do the test, very long articule. For air-intake alone, at high rev, the engine performance benefited most but at 3K rpm, the torque figure was not impressive, Hence, air-intake alone is more suited to drivers who constantly high rev their cars. but no one drives like that on city roads. At 1K rpm, lose of pick-up is felt , it is only when the car rev up to 3k rpm above, then the speed is gradually felt. 4. The performance on exo alone was impressive, best D-Box result. Though torque figure was also affected but at low rpm and 2.5K rpm , an obvious performance gain is felt. Car is more lively, smoother acceleration and more eager to trust. 5. The combined option has the worse result. They attributed this to the need for the car to even rev harder to climb the acceleration curve. 6. Anyway, in conclusion, they mentioned that this is the true result but up to the reader to believe it or not. In fact, in their Q&A page, they also mentioned that no point having big air-intake but the exo can't cope and resulted in "constipation". The car manufacturers already factored in the optimal air-intake for the stock car but the exo is always a constraint because they need to run loops and ends to reduce nosie and emission to meet legal requirement. Hence, for auto car, the better mod is to start from the exo. 7. I thought sometimes back, someone also posted a video where an FD with aftermarket intake and exo was beaten flat by a stock FD? 8. Anyway, modding and tuning is a never ending story, one must really experiment and to test to confirm whether there is gain at the end of the day. Anyway, this is my 2 cents worth. Please comment and feedback. Thank you very much. Regards,

  20. Anyone of u bros installed exhaust finisher before? Are exhaust pipes used the same sizes for different capacity of same car models? I want to order this exhaust finisher from Nissan Japan but to my disappointment TC (Tan Chong) parts and accessories dept said nobody in japan or sg in nissan can verify whether the exhaust finisher that i want to order from Japan could fit my K12 March cos our local K12 are "SG specs". so if i want to order i will order at my own risk... -_-' The exhaust finisher i wanna order: [inline "exhaust1.jpg"] Does any bros here owns/owned a K11 or K12 before and know if its using the straight exhaust? Base on the pic, the bend exhaust is for 1.2L and the straight one is for 1.4L But my SG K12 comes with a bend exhaust... The prices of both are quite different, straight one is $55 n bend one is $155. Anyway, why the price difference so much? Any advantage or disadvantage? I like the straight one more but I doubt the straight one can fit my bend exhaust. But I am worry that even if I order the bend exhaust finisher also cannot fit my march. Any ex or current March riders here btw?
  21. Thought I tried this forum to see if anyone has fitted ARQRAY(spelling correct?) exhaust on their cars. Made in Japan, stainless steel n titanium tips. Comes in single split or quads. Actually what I want to know is 3 things: 1) does it sound good yet not too loud. 2) adds some performance improvement? 3) is it "lee-girl"? (stupid Q )
  22. fuji n mugen are the 2 popular exos for most fds... hw about tanabe exos, so far heard the sound from mugen n fuji. mugen is louder when idling and loud when high rev. fuji sounds lower n more bassy when idling and when high rev, can still hear the bassy effect. whereas for tanabe so far, this muffler, dun seems to have any fd report of it in many forums. actually decided on fuji once the stock arrives, but still very curious about tanabe muffler as i am seekin one which is low n bassy sound, loud or nt is secondary. any bros here installed tanabe for their FD1 ?? care to feedback hw it sounds like? or any bros here care to comment hw a typical tanabe muffler sounds like? loud and rex like or low and bassy sound. till nw can only search for clips in the net for tanabe exos, but find tat sound in clips buey chun one. real thing still best to differentiate. i posted a clip for tanabe on a civic post by pple from overseas, dunno whether is this the actual one which is available in singapore, but at least still can roughly gauge hw a tanabe sounds like. for bros using tanabe for other rides, care to comment hw it sounds like??
  23. What is best exhaust set-up for low-end power for auto rides? etc 4-2-1 extractor, bigger diameter pipe,semi-flow muffler?
  24. Finally... after all the waiting, it's finally here... my street legal Fujitsubo exhaust system Here's a website shot of it on an EVO [inline m_rm01a-1.gif]
