  3. Rice dumplings will cost more as price of glutinous rice climbs By Hoe Yeen Nie/ Chua Su Sien, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 09 April 2008 2312 hrs Photos 1 of 1 Rice dumplings Related Videos Rice dumplings will cost more as price of glutinous rice climbs SINGAPORE: With the Dragon Boat Festival coming up in June, the traditional rice dumplings will be costlier this year. That is because the price of glutinous rice, the main ingredient in the dumplings, has gone up by 15 per cent in the past three weeks. Other ingredients have also become more expensive, pushing up overall costs by as much as 60 per cent compared to the same period in 2007. Helen Lim, owner of rice dumpling shop Kim Choo Kueh Chang, said: "If prices continue to rise, we won't be able to take it. Prices of ingredients have also gone up - such as sugar." Some suppliers said exporters are holding back their stock of the sticky grain because they prefer to trade in the more lucrative white rice instead. The price of white rice has reached record highs in recent weeks. Some importers said they will not raise their stocks of premium grade rice by too much because they do want to store them for too long - as these are often sold as soon as they reach Singapore shores to ensure quality. Importers said that imported rice can last up to three years given the right storage facilities. But in homes, the shelf-life of the grain is much shorter because the heat and humidity can ruin its quality. Lim Ek Kwong, Operations Manager of rice company See Hoy Chan, said: "For example, you cannot keep your rice under the sink and near to the cooking places. Try not to store your rice in the storeroom because (there is) no ventilation." One lady said: "We can't keep the rice for too long because after three months, the insects (will appear) and it's going to spoil, and it's a waste of money also." "I think they're overreacting don't you think? Because a lot of assurances have been given out so there

Mobil Synthetic 5w40 - 5 x normal denso spark plugs - Change of normal Toyota air filter - Change of normal Toyota oil filter I'm charged $230 in total plus GST Today I did the same as above. But now is my 45,000km servicing, had to change my ATF. That was an additional $90. The mechanic is a nice guy. Can talk to him well, but i feel i'm being cut. HAha.. i dun mind let him make a bit more, but if too much.. wah lau.. cannot lah. But car still under warranty, so have to let him do. Bought from Le_acy Motors. My car slightly more than 2yrs old. Once hit 3yrs, need to find a new servicing centre. Anyone has any good recommendations for central north area, around AMK, Bishan here? Thanks

  12. http://in.reuters.com/article/worldN...30208120071029 Singapore man sues woman for passing herpes -paper Mon Oct 29, 2007 10:08am SINGAPORE (Reuters) - A Singapore man has sued a woman for more than S$300,000 ($206,600) after he accused her of infecting him with the sexually transmitted herpes disease, local media said. The Straits Times said the 35-year-old man is seeking compensation for medical bills and time lost from work because the infection had caused him "frequent and recurring pain" that would need continued medical treatment. The man said the woman had told him she was "clean" before they had sex, according to the paper. He stopped seeing her after a month when he was diagnosed with the disease. ------------ haiz.. must say how many times... use Apollo. now comes in cikku and balonglong favor.
  13. It's not uncommon common folks like us will go for the usual brands and models when it comes to choice. Increasingly this might no always be correct particularly in this age when advertisements and peers belief can be often overwhelming. I believe Tirerack is one of the most respectable tire sites in the world. Their opinions are backed with big audience rolling the specific tyre for many hundred of thousand miles, if not million. Surprisingly a less known korean tyre beats many top model Grand Touring tyres @ http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresult...74x032&code=yes. The score at the top right hand of http://www.tirerack.com/survey/SurveyComme...1&tirePageLocQt you will find the verdict from each user and can be quite embarassing for some. Dunno what will the number given by users if ever some of those we are familiar reaches Tirerack (interestingly ASPEC DB is unheard of in Europe and America). Before simply paying more for another set of popular tyres, this could be a consideration for many of us who demand premium comfort and adequate performance which only Grand Touring class of tyres can offer. Search out for Kumho Ecsta KH11 from other sites and if there are other contending view. For those demanding premium performance, Kumho Ecsta SPT could now certainly be among the best, perhaps.
  14. As above, referring in particular to Renault Megane, is it true? Is fuel consumption for Megane high? Like to hear comments, good and bad, for this car.. Thanks

  25. Only downside is that you have to pay in cash. Conditions state that you just have to bid above the "paper value" (Deregistration Value) You can even get a 2 yr old Honda Jazz for just $3K annual dep if you are lucky. Good luck to all bidders.
