  4. Hi guys I would like to share my very bad experience at this shop located at Upper Changi Road. It was a reputable air-con shop until recently my personal experience view it otherwise. On 23/08/13 my air-con was unable to turn on and decided to drop by this particular shop which is located near my residence. I'll sumerise the story and if any of you need any clarification please feel free to contact me as I have evidence and also a reputable workshop experience it first-hand and they can testify it. Karcool inexperienced staff caused me my car's electical and electronic systems which short-circuit the car's relay systems. It blew up all the fuse in my fuse box. Every single thing is affected including my original HID headlight, my arlam system, my audio system, my electrical and electonic systems. I now cost me by the thousands and the worst thing is that they dont take responsibility for it. Im planning to report them to the authorities. I hope to get advise from fellow drivers here and also to warn anyone of going to this particular shop.
  5. Buying a high-end 2nd hand car and thinking about whether to buy 3rd party warranty. One of them is cybercar warranty. http://www.cyberwarranty.com.sg/about-us Seems not very known. Has anyone any experience with them? Any other 3rd party warranty to recommend?
  6. and some said in MCF before that live in private property is v safe and no such problems For more than a year, residents at The Centris condominium in Jurong West thought that the screws they found stuck in their tyres had come from driving on roads. That is, until they found out that some of their neighbours had suffered the same fate, and realised it had been done deliberately. At least 40 residents have had their cars vandalised in the condo's private carpark, mostly involving screws being driven into the tyres of their vehicles. Despite more closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras being installed about two weeks ago, the incidents - which include cases of smashed headlights, scratched cars and glue on car bonnets - have not stopped.
  7. long story cut short, happen last saturday. happen at custom, making a right turn when my car was hit by a BMW. i got down from car, wanted to talk to the driver but he don't want, tell me to go away. so i took a picture and left as i can't stop there. later today, i received a call from my insurance that this joker wanna claim me. and i had to go down to insurance's workshop to access the damage and file. i don't have any intention to claim him as i felt it was superficial and now, he's trying to claim me. this is exorbitant, damn pissed.. i will upload the video shortly.. what should i do?
  8. Hi all, Some may have seen my post in another thread. Decided to post here instead in order not to clog up further for that thread. Some corrections made, guess i remember some of the sequence of events wrongly. I have also uploaded the first half of the video to show. First half (skip to 4:25 where is started) Second half (just watch first 10 seconds and skip the rest) Sequence of events: First Half 1. Initially I am behind this errant van, keeping a distance from him. 4:20 onwards 2. I change to first lane. 4:26 3. Van signal left and change to left lane. 4:35 4. I also signal left and change back to 2nd lane at same time black car infront of me do the same 4:42 5. At 4:49, the van is still signaling left while at the same time I am keeping a distance from the black car infront and also going to speed up to keep pace. Second Half 6. At 0:06 , the van signal right and next second he start turning very fast and I didn't expect that. At 0:07, he is already very near my car just 1-2 cm near collision. At this moment, I cannot speed up as explained earlier cos my speed wun be quick enough to shoot ahead of him and if i do so and he still dun slow down or stop, he will bang my back passenger door or rear of my car. so i slow down instead so the van can see my car presense and he did and he literally slow down or ebrake (not shown in video.) 7. At 0:09, the van literally stop or ebrake, i move forth and switch to his lane cos at 0:15 there is already a car behind me and i dun want to obstruct him. I admit after switching to his lane, i did slow down a little but i did not ebrake (see 0:10-0:13) cos i am asking if my gf is ok before I move on with my pace, all this while the van behind me still stopped or slowered his speed (cannot remember). Hope this gives a better clearer picture what happen. I know i should honk at the van but i dun have habit to honk if i must to... but in this case, it was too sudden all i can do is to slow down to prevent collision. Advise is appreciated how to handle such situations next time.
  9. Today, I am going to share my family's bad experience with Volkswagen. I may be overreacting but I just feel that I should voice this out? Booked our VW car on 12th March. The sales executive was very friendly right from the start. Offered us a test drive, which was what makes us book the car. The COE rebate was at 50K. The next day was the last day of COE Bidding exercise, our loan hasn't been approved yet so it does not concern us. Following which, they adjusted their rebate to 58K(It doesnt affect us as we had already booked our car)They are the only dealership that revised their price upwards. Despite that, we heard that their showroom was still packed. Two weeks later, the next bidding, COE came out at 64K. We thought we had a chance but was disappointed to hear that they did not bid for us as "their company has no budget" WTH?? Our SE told us they also did not bid for 58K rebate people too. However the SE said they will bid for the 58K rebate people the next round. My family felt unhappy as the SE didnt mention anything about bidding for us the next round and we begin to feel that they are just going to make us wait through the 6 bids before nulling our booking as our rebate is much lower than others. This left my family in a fix as we are serious on getting a new car and not just trying our luck with the COE. We called in to clarify on wheter or not they are serious about bidding for us as we do not want a situation where we purchase another car and suddenly both managed to bid COE successfully or that VW just make us waste our time sitting through the 6 biddings coming up with all sorts of excuses each time. Our SE told us that they did bid for the 58K people but only half of them were successful as they didn't manage to revise the bids on time.(Didnt someone say they did not bid for the 58K?) When our SE heard our situation, we were told that "I will try to tell the management to bid for you and if unsuccessful, you can cancel your booking." And that was in a half hearted tone, as if our business is not important at all. Our SE then told us a few days later that, we had to wait 3 biddings before we can cancel our booking. There was no word about the next bidding. I can't really blame the SE fully here as the management has the final say in all this nonsense. We had read online that VW's after-sales service is horrible, seems like we are partially experiencing it. Who knows what will happen in the future if our car comes up with lots of problems?? P.S. I may be overreacting but I just want to know what are other peoples view on this issue? Is this normal when buying cars or just VW? Never experienced this before btw..
  10. Was browsing thru sgcarmart when I came across a 1.5 yrs old white 159 with a mileage of 27k for sale at 95k. That's when I started noticing the marque cos I tot it looked pretty good, like how a chio bu on the street naturally turn heads. Over the next few days, I found myself going back repeatedly several times a day to take yet another look at the ride. The temptation was just so great that the missus and I had a serious discussion on whether we should change. So much so that we decided to just pop over to EA on a weekday to get a feel on how the 159 is really like. The red sedan in the showroom was stunning in the flesh, so much so that even the really attractive SE who approached us was powerless against the beast to invoke the male instinct of naturally being attracted to a being of the opposite sex (urm, maybe partly cos the missus was around? Hehee!). My hands were itching all over immediately and I was raring to caress and touch her (the car, not the SE). Was invited to try the driver's seat but I did not go straight in. The desire to admire her from head to toe, front to back was irresistible (again the car, NOT the SE). Sitting in the driver's seat finally was like being transported to paradise. The wheel, the stick, the dash, the positioning of the center console, all seems so perfect. The head is screaming at me to wake up from the dream; the seats are so narrow, the three stalks are plasticky, the cubby holes are small and unusable, the back seats are cramped and not supporting the butt sufficiently, the roof is way too low... but somehow, all these practical bits (including back seats that can't be folded, and a hard to use boot) suddenly seems to be the least important considerations in the world. Taking the car out for a ride is yet another experience to be savoured. Me being a noob, SE (notice I purposely excluded her name) kindly suggested taking the wheel first so as to demonstrate the Selespeed system to minimise embarrassment from my part. Without much to do except observing the gear changes and listening intently to her explanations, it's hard not to start noticing her slender lower limbs... (geez we are drifting...) A switch at the bus-stop, some awkward fiddling of the buttons at the side of the driver's seat, a clumsy activation of the screen wipers instead of the signalling stalk, wow, sensitive throttle! Trying to switch to Manual mode on the drive, SE pointed out that I've changed to Neutral instead, oops... the box does get some getting used to. Shift ups mean pushing the stick down, everything seems a mirror image of the conventional. A few jerks during gear changes, some road noise, imaginary naggy complaints of head room and numb legs from in-laws, comparisons to a DSG box and the insulation of a Lexus are unavoidable, but sitting in the driver's seat, being so much involved with the car without worrying about a tired left leg, everything else doesn't seem to matter. Back in our almost 2.5 yrs old FD2A which we tot we'll be sticking with for double that period of time, we wasted no time contacting the owner of the white serpent. Holy shucks! The ride's been reserved pending loan approval... Calculating the sums, a new ride at current prices will derail our plans of a nest change. Unless there's a significant pay increase or some luck with SG Pools, we just have to stick to our unengaging but very practical ride for a couple more yrs... Hope you enjoy reading the account as much as I've enjoyed writing it.
  11. Went shopping for a new fridge and chanced upon a particular model which fit our size and capacity. The salesman offered us a further 100 dollars off if we take the display set as they are clearing up the space. we took a good look and the fridge and it was rather flawless, Paid full amount on the spot and agreed on delivery date. On the day of delivery, we discovered a obvious dent on the door and i called up the sales and complained. He offered to take back the fridge and offered us another brand new set from agent warehouse but with top up. Alternatively i may also go back down to their store for full refund which i find it absurd as it causes inconvenience to me. megadiscount store, this is probably i last time i would step into your store. btw, is not about money. But the principle in the sales agreement and the obvious inconvenience of having no fridge for few days due to their error.
  12. SK Carz Advertisement Over the weekend, I visited SK Carz for their $38 special grooming promotion. This is the title of their promotion: "SK Carz Complete Car Grooming Package @ $38!!!" It was indeed a forgettable experience. (I hope). They asked for my i/c when i first got there. Was wondering why there's a need to do so....... I always feel uncomfortable to surrender my i/c to small shops like this. I contemplated before deciding to give it to them. Then the receptionist said she'll need to inspect my car's condition. Upon touching my car, the first thing she commented was that the $38 promotion will NOT remove those stains (bird sh|ts/water mark etc) found on my car, nor will it remove the rough surface feeling. In fact, she suggested upgrading me to a $138 package, which can do so. If i continue with the $38 promotion, the result will be similar to a normal car wash from a petrol kiosk. I'm a non-fussy customer looking for an affordable car grooming service. I kept my cool and asked for my i/c to be returned. I said goodbye to SK Carz forever and traveled home from bukit batok to bedok. In addition, I'll take home with me 3 cancellations from my friend, colleague and relative.
  13. Hi guys I'm posting based on my recent experience which I hope will be useful.. Recently I was stopped by LTA along Woodlands Ave 12 around Seagate and was asked to go for inspection the same day I was confident as my ride was done up according LTA regulation so to my horror I was failed for my exhaust system which was legal accompained with a certificate when I bought my ride a couple of years back. But failed the inspection due to last digit of serial number was not clear due to scratches and for that I will be issued a summon for illigal mod Now need to appeal to LTA and if appeal rejected will be fined and need to get a new set of exhaust. A word of advise..please if possible send your ride for inspection 1st before purchase.
  14. Bros, I recently got a Note 2 less than a month ago.. Great camera , HD quality video camera , nice design , fantastic functions.. However , there are various problems that I have in this phone that I didn't have in my previous iPhone: 1. Always , when I using some apps , my phone suddenly hangs for no apparent reason.. Can't even exit also.. Then I have to really restart the damn thing.. 2. Gets heated up for no apparent reason.. 3. Battery tio suck quite fast.. When I checked my battery usage , it was due to my screen.. 40% of my battery life goes to my screen.. Anyone else facing this problem? Or should I go back to M1 to f%$# them.. ?
  15. So since I'm trying to sell off my Alfa 159 directly, I thought it'll be interesting to note down my experiences going down the route less travelled. The initial idea was simple: car dealers probably won't give a good deal or give credit for things like lower mileage or servicing records; why give them all the margin; how hard could it be to sell a car? A couple of things I've realized so far: - car dealers do adjust their pricing and availability depending on what you put up. Before I put my ride up there were probably 3 'comparable' cars. Suddenly there are now 7! - lots of people need help selling their older car: can never quite cut the dealer out of the loop - interestingly no dealer has bothered calling me, but plenty of loan companies have come a-calling.. as have one or two completely random SMSs from property agents, etc... but anyway.. Still it has been very fun meeting all the buyers, including I'm sure, plenty of forumners here If anyone's got any tips or previous experience selling off their car directly, do share! And yes, here is my ride if anyone is interested (put on unashamed publicity seeking hat ) http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...938&DL=1000

  17. Hi, I am overwhelmed by the different type/brands/price of car seats. Alot of questions and hope the you can share your experiences here and make this thread for sharing and discussion. My questions: 1) Your new born baby after delivery, from hospital to home, did you use car seats? Or did you hand carrry? Which is better? Which is safer? Are car seats suitable for newborns? 2) Did you use car seats from new born already? Or u start using car seats only after 1,2,3 months old? 3) Do you get dedicated infant seat (those type with handle for carrying for 0-9months), then upgrade to child seat when they older, or did you buy those convertible ones that can from 0-4years old? What are the pros and cons? 4) Which brand/model/price you got and is it good or bad? Your reviews please. Thanks.

    Gift an Experience

Buying gifts has always been a hassle as people grow older. Watches, wallets and even iPads are now becoming run-of-the-mill gifts. Usually to make it simple, we just purchase a voucher and let the person who is receiving the gift decide for himself/herself what to buy with it. Now though, there is another option. Gift-an-Experience. If material gifts are not your type and you like your gift to be something memorable for someone special or a good buddy, consider gifting an experience instead. What kind of experience? How about piloting a real rally car round a dirt track guided by professional rally drivers? That was exactly what I received from someone close to me recently when I was down under and man...BEST present ever! Getting strapped in to the car What you get is basically a voucher which you can use to book the driving sessions with the rally school. Pre-requisites are minimal and basically as long as you are aged 16 and above and can drive manual, you are good to go. What I got was a 2 x 8 laps drive + 1 x Hot lap from the instructors. For an extra 50 bucks, you get to have a video of your own drive in an SD card. You would need to attend a compulsory drivers briefing where they will teach you some basics such as how to take a corner at the apex as well as the braking points and what are the things to take note of when we are out there. Now the best parts is that they have primarily 2 different rally cars for you to choose, the venerable Subaru Impreza WRX or the Mitsubishi EVO. Make no mistakes, these are not converted road cars, they are truely specially prepared rally cars with stripped out interiors, roll cage, bucket seats, rally steering wheels, short shifters...etc. Basically, these are the cars that they would use to compete in. Each session here has no more than 8 people and we all took turns to have a go. Once it is your turn, grabbed the provided hair-net (for hygiene purposes) and helmet, and the guys at the rally school will strap you in. Now, the instructors here are real RALLY drivers and not your SSDC uncle. The latter will tell you to slow down all the time while these guys kept saying "GO FASTER!". Imagine how much fun is that! You are limited only to how much you dare to drive, although, be polite before you open up the taps and let the instructors know so they can warn you when to brake. Although its a wide open area, there are still the few trees around. For me, getting to do that little bit of sliding around on gravel was already a lot of fun. At one point being a little too over confident, I did not turn in enough at a corner and caught some loose rocks and the next thing I knew, I had spun 1 full circle kicking up lots of dust along the way.(Yes, my girlfriend and friends were all laughing at me after that) The instructor was unfazed though and promptly told me to let the other car pass 1st before asking me to get a move on. The hot lap with the instructor was the icing on the cake. They will take you out sliding around and even experience a rally jump at 130km/h! Definitely an adrenaline fulfilling experience! At the end of the session, you will receive a certificate as memento for the unforgettable experience. So if there is someone whom you will like to bless, an experience like this can make the best present yet. Heck, if it is me, I would totally buy this for myself first.
  19. Contemplating in getting a dish washer but have a few questions: a) Is it really more economical to use dish washer to wash everything once a day? b) How about energy consumption? c) Can really wash dishes cleaner than human effort? d) Which brand is reliable? Thank you very much. Regards,
  20. Went to RV to change my battery. Not a regular there (because don't like the oil they offer). Inspite being end of business day, they gave me good customer service, to the extent that when the new battery do not fit due to my car's quirky height restrictions, they brought me to another shop. The technician assigned follow through until the battery was replaced. RV was also professional when swapping batteries. Not just clip a spare battery to the terminals and change (which can accidentally dislodge while removing the terminals) On a side note, before I went RV, I was at another tyre shop and to my horrors, they just start my engine and remove my terminals. For old cars this is fine but I have not seen this method for donkey years. That shop also did not have the right battery size and wanted to cut away my terminal cover so that a recessed type battery can be used. I have to insist NO before they put back my old battery. Just to be clear, I am not in anyway affiliated with RV. Posting this because I thought helping me to find another shop and following through is something worth encouraging.
  21. Friends in MCF, anyone encountered real BAD incidents traveling to Malaysia , please contribute here . For our Singapore friends to take note and precautions. 22. Anybody can share their working experience in Chinese MNC and US MNC. What the difference in culture and style between the two in terms of pay and promotion?
  23. My friend was a bump before NS, after that he became more serious, re-did his O-level as a private student and finally got his diploma. He told people NS changed his life:- the disciplines, etc and confinement in camp gave him time to think about his future. I also have friends came out of NS same, or even worse, than before. My lessons in NS were very small:- field camp ------> appreciate basic comfort in civilian life, keng-kings colleagues in camp ----> how to spot keng-staff at work Not sure more positive or negative lessons which we can use in current work, or even just civilian life.
  24. http://www.sgcarmart.com/used_cars/info.ph...544&DL=1000 Like this cute little car quite alot. Anyone has any experience with it. I am worried that spares are hard to find.
