  1. Dear car owners and potential car owners, Just to share my personal bad experience with all of you. I recently purchased my car from CAR LINK ENTERPRISE C2 located at Turf City. The unit is C2. Upon viewing of the vehicle, the front compartment lock came off at the first instance when I open the compartment. The sales person by the name of ANDY immediately told me they will send it for repair and ensure that the lock is fix upon collection of my vehicle. I took his words since they are doing a business and would not want to tarnish their reputation over a car compartment issue. I paid a deposit and cleared all the paper works and drove off the vehicle. On that very SAME day, while I tried to open the compartment, the locked came off again! I realised that CAR LINK had simply use some glue to stick back the lock and hand the vehicle over to me. I was shocked by their dishonest behaviour and immediately called up Andy to ask him why the device is still not fix. He told me that this is due to wear and tear and is unavoidable! He then refer me to a workshop at woodlands and when the mechanic saw me, he said immediately that if the issue is regarding the COMPARTMENT lock, please don't bother to come because it is BEYOND repair! I ask him how could he say that when Andy the sales person from Car Link Enterprise refer me here. He told me he was the one that service the vehicle and the lock issue is a KNOWN issue all along and there is nothing he can do. I will have to call back ANDY to resolve this because the only way is to REPLACE THE ENTIRE COMPARTMENT WHICH COST $500-600! I was really fuming because I took time off from work and travel to woodlands only to know that is a waste trip and ANDY is simply trying to waste time on the issue! I immediately call him and ask him why a businessman like him with a big shop want to cheat on such issues and his irresponsible words really shock me and I ask him if he is going to be responsible for this issue and he said that he will check with his BOSS and call me back. The call never come from him. I called Andy almost every alternate day and he will always repeat the same words "I NOT SURE, I NEED TO CHECK WITH BOSS. ... BOSS HAS NOT GET BACK TO ME.... It has been more than 2 weeks and he is still using the same delay tactic to shun away my problem. I told him that we are just car buyers and you are opening a business here. This kind of unethical approach is really lousy and dishonest! I told him if he is going to drag this matter, there is nothing I can do except to warn fellow buyers NOT TO FALL INTO THIS TRAP and shun away from CAR LINK. Until now I still have not hear anything from CAR LINK ENTERPRISE C2 on the compensation of my compartment lock. If they decide to play punk and avoid me, there is nothing I can do except to educate and keep fellow buyers aware of their UNETHICAL APPROACH IN DOING BUSINESS. Attached is the shop photo which I personally went down and took. Pls note that this thread is meant to warn and share with fellow buyers not to patronise this dishonest car dealer and I welcome CAR LINK ENTREPRISE to response and challenge my thread if you are gentleman enough although I don't pin any hope. Regards,
  2. Hi all, I will like to create a public awareness on this car dealer (Five Speed motoring), Please see my letter to second hand car association for their assistance. 'I entered into a hire purchase agreement with Five Speed motoring and wanted to do an early settlement as getting another car from another dealer. I called Five Speed office and was advised by the outstanding amount for settlement is $35,684. I did a computation under Rule 78 and calculated the amount outstanding to be $35,274. I think this is acceptable since the difference is minimal. On the actual settlement date, I was told that the amount outstanding is $38,897 instead of $35,684. I called Five Speed motoring immediately and spoke to the boss. He assured me that he will look into the matter and refund me the difference if any. He would also email me a copy of the UOB statement (Five speed refinance the hire purchase with UOB). He added that I should still continue the settlement and that Five Speed would settle the difference with me separately. It was a gentlemen
  3. I was banned from bring durian up to a BTS train then had to eat the entire durian before boarding whole week subsequently constipated Uproar over foreigner assault at Bangkok skytrain station An Irish school teacher, whose daughter was present at the incident, claims he was attacked by a Thai security guard who hit him on the head with a baton leaving him bleeding. Fri, Mar 23, 2012 AsiaOne A clash in a Bangkok skytrain station involving an Irish international school teacher has caused uproar in cyberspace, with some bloggers expressing concern that the incident might add to anti-foreigner sentiment in Bangkok. The foreign passenger, John Behan, claimed he was attacked by a Thai security guard on March 16 for breaching a rule banning gas-filled balloons on the rail system. The Thai security who works at the station is employed by the Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS), the operator of the skytrain. Half of Thai bloggers who responded to the incident were sympathetic while the other half questioned the Irish man's actions. Mr Behan had allegedly attempted to take a bunch of balloons onto the skytrain at Prompong Station when he was stopped by a security guard. He claims he was told to dump the balloons into a garbage bin before he could proceed. The balloons were given to his seven-year-old daughter earlier in the day for graduating from kindergarten. His daughter was also present during the incident. Due to conflicting statements from witnesses, the facts of the incident are still not clear but a video uploaded onto YouTube coupled with a blog post from the Irish man's wife have shed some light on the incident. Refusing to dump the balloons, the passenger kicked the garbage can and tried to board the train, saying he had boarded the skytrain several times that day with the balloons. When the security guard physically tried to stop him, the pair got into a scuffle. According to BTS executive Anat Arbhabhirama, Mr Behan argued heatedly with the security guards, pushing one in the chest and kicking the chief of the station. In a video uploaded onto YouTube, the passenger allegedly grabbed the security guard's neck. In self-defence, the guard hit the passenger with a scanner, said Mr Anat. Netizen Gee Gee who says she saw the incident said, "There was a lot of blood on the floor. The foreigner returned with his friend and family and managed to force his way through. "He was bleeding and very angry and his friend held him back from the security guard. They managed to go up the stairs and board a train heading towards Morchit." In a blog entitled "From the heart of a mother and wife whose husband who was attacked by a BTS guard before the eyes of his child", Mr Behan's wife Patcharamas Phusri outlined her version of the incident. "The balloons are gifts from her teachers and other parents on her graduation day. They have much sentimental value to her," Patcharamas said in the message. "My husband, his coworkers, our daughter and my mom took the skytrain with the balloons before they ended up having problems at the Prompong station." In her post, Patcharamas said she was not present during the confrontation, but rushed to the scene as soon as she was notified that her husband was involved in the incident. "When I arrived, I found my husband was bleeding," she said. She claimed the BTS security guards attacked her husband after they had already taken the balloons away. Blogger Andrew Drummond who hosted the video and called for witness accounts on his website said that the incidents boiled down to two main issues - a foreigner breaking BTS regulations, and a then being "attacked, viciously it seems with a truncheon by a BTS security guard." Drummond was quick to say that he does not justify the scuffle but also pointed out that attacks on foreigners were not rare and usually happens where "polite Thai society do not go". Netizen Jack Slater speculated that the argument started before the video was taken. "In my opinion, whatever happened before the video was taken does not justify entering the subway with the balloons. Regardless of the young Irishman's professional credentials I believed he showed poor judgment." He added that there have been many previous incidents where passengers have been told not to bring balloons into the trains and in all those times, the people involved complied with the request. "At no time was it reported that the people with balloons brushed by the officials, passed the turns styles, up the stairs and on to the train as depicted in this video." BTS yesterday apologized to Mr Behan after both parties lodged complaints against each other. BTS also said it has removed the guard involved in the incident. Mr Anat added that negligent officials who allowed Mr Behan onto the skytrain at the other stations will face a disciplinary probe.
  4. Bankrupt in Singapore: What are the Consequences? As of 2011, there are almost 25,000 un-discharged bankrupts in Singapore. The good news is the number of bankruptcy cases has dropped, by more than 20 percent since the
  5. Or your friends' experience? I have relatives who changed maid at least once a year and they complaint about how bad their maids were... I also have friends who used the same maid for more than 7, or even 12 years (yes, 12!) and both sides became friends..... I have used four maids in the past 28 years.... the 5th one just came few days ago.
  6. Any bros watched SH NGC: Inside Afghan ER? Saw the show last night and was somewhat traumatized.... It tells the real life experience of a US army combat hospital team in Camp Salerano in Afghanistan sometime in 2008 when the ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) and the Talibans/insurgents were slugging it out bitterly. Injured friends or foes alike were flown in via Blackhawks to be treated at the hospital which was made up of Americans. The traumatizing part was when two seriously injured 101st AB troopers, victims of a IED, were wheeled in. Their Humvee was obliterated in the process and three of their buddies were KIA on the spot. Their condition were actually very critical and the surgeon, a Lieutenant Colonel, made the painful decision to amputate all their legs as well as arms of the Lieutenant, one of the victims. The nurse then used a small electric saw and started working on one of the limbs (thankfully this footage was in B & W) after which she used both her hands to carry the sawed-off bloody human thigh to dump it in a red plastic bag to be disposed of. Once their conditions were stabilized, they were heavily sedated and readied to be flown out to Germany for a more proper medical treatment. The film crew also shot footages of Afghans, friendly and hostile, being sent in for treatment. One was a suspected insurgent and this guy was in real bad shape. He was basically gurgling in his own blood and dying of lack of breath so the medical team tried to cut an opening in his throat to help him breath but then he suddenly suffered a cardiac arrest. Despite their best efforts, the bad guy kaput and the Afghan crew then moved in to prepare the body as accordance to Afghan ritual. Really a powerful show. It showed the gruesome aspects of a bitter war where many perished and if not dead, some were maimed beyond recognition for life... [:(] One thing interesting was that some of the US army nurses were actually officers. One old man nurse was a Lieutenant while another, a woman, was a Captain.

  9. http://perks.mocca.com/Deals/DEA111121-000...ne-car-grooming Bought the above voucher as a gift for my brother at $58 and the voucher states that it's for $150 worth of services. I repeat, $150 hor. When my bro called up to make appointment, they told him that if the paint work has not been polished for a long time, they need to do machine polish, etc, to restore the shine. They say usual price is $180, but since he got the voucher, he need to top up $180 - $58 = $120 ( which works out to be a $2 discount). My bro then challenge, the voucher listed $150 worth of service, so shouldn't the top up be $180 - $150? They say it doesn't work this way. The $58 is for normal wash and basic hand "polish", which I doubt if they even claybar. Topping up $120 (on top of the $58 voucher) for machine polish to restore the shine is way too expensive. At least if the top up is $30-40, still acceptable, it's suppose to be discounted/offer price isn't it? I can get a mobile groomer with machine polish + wax at $80-90. Then what's the use of buying the voucher? That's misrepresentation marketing. In the end my bro told them forget it, and he returned the voucher to me...... Bros and Sis, please beware of unscrupulous marketing tactics when buying discount vouchers!
  10. went to fill up at jb and me and another sports car were eyeing the same pump (not vpower racing, just normal cheaper vpower).Of course my powerful 1.6L vvti toyota corolla surged to the pump first but as a gentleman i let the slower weird car to the pump first but he ended up hogging it.... here is an image of the weird car in question, with cheapo owner trying to squeeze in every last drop
  11. I read from the internet on how a car tyre can get punctured. Afterall, a nail or some object is lying flat on the road, so how did it get stuck in your tyre and cause a punctured? An interesting theory is that as a set of car tyre goes over a nail, for example, the front tyre will "kick" the nail up from flat position. Then when the rear tyre comes, the nail will stuck and punctured the rear tyre. Another theory is the nail gets stuck between the tyre thread upon first contact. Then the tyre first rotation the heavier nail head will be spung outward due to centrifugal force, and once the nail head is out, the complete revolution will drive the sharp (lighter) end of the nail into car tyre when the nail head hit the road again. Coincidentally, both my tyre punctured experience were the rear tyre. Just curious what's others experience? Or you have any theory on how a tyre gets punctured? Sabotage don't count.
  12. Just wanted to discuss an experience I just had at the Dunearn Rd Shell Station (the one the near Turf City junction). This Shell has been freely giving out those "$3 off every $40 petrol" vouchers like water. I have 3 whole sheets of these vouchers. They allow you to use more than one voucher per fill, e.g. $120 petrol (before discount) = $9 off. I was also pleasantly surprised recently when I "won" an $8 voucher during my last fill - this is that promotion where they match the serial no. of the receipt or something. It's like a lucky draw. Anyway, this is not something that's freely given out. So today I filled a full tank of V-power, as I usually do. The bill was just over $128 dollars. Naively, I assumed that I could use my $8 voucher plus three of those $3 vouchers to get a total discount of $17. Nope, think again. The counter staff (PRC girl) told me this was not possible because "both of them were vouchers" and I couldn't use 2 sorts of vouchers together. Or something like that. This struck me as unfair and stupid. For one thing, even after discounting the $8 voucher, I would still legitimately be able to use 3 of the "free" $3 coupons. It's not like I was trying to pull a fast one by getting a discount to which I was not entitled. Furthermore, the expiration date for the $8 voucher was close to the expiration date for all the free stamps (of which I had tons, more than I would be able to finish before the expiration date). So that essentially meant my "special" $8 voucher was fairly useless to me because I would never be able to use it in conjunction with the other stamps. If there had been someone waiting in line behind me, I would just have sucked it up and moved on. But since I wasn't inconveniencing any other customers, I decided to play hardball. I insisted on speaking to the manager. The PRC girl at first insisted she was the manageress there, and her decision was final. I said, OK I will write an email registering my displeasure to Shell. At this point, she relented and agreed to make a phone call to her manager (so there *was* someone higher she could readily contact after all ). After that call, she came out all apologetic and said they would accept all the vouchers together. $17 off. Finally. So I got what I wanted, but only after a good bit of table-banging. It's not even about the money, it's about being fair to the customer and the principle of the thing. Just wanted to vent a little, and share my experience so the bros here know what to expect.
  13. Just drop my IS to BM Lexus for 40k servicing, went to BM coz rekon the service pricing is okay... had a call later during the day by the CSO telling me: 1. Aircon filter need to change: 190 bucks 2. Front disc rotor might need replacement after another 10k or so: 1.2k I like o_O... just drop lexus stockiet He Xing a call, original lexus aircon filter: 39 bucks, 3rd party 28 bucks. Getting it next week. Due to the amount of work required the service mgr told me might only be able to finish late the same day. Due to other commitment unable to collect the car on the same day, I opt to collect next day morning. 2nd day, collected my car. To my horror, there are assorted new scratch around the car. One line at rear bumper, another two scratch area at both rear door. ..sigh.. The service mgr say bm will respray for me. Will sent in another day. My question is, do you guys think it is possible to demand for them to pay while I sent my car to some other spray shop? No confident in letting BM rectifying it. Bm is loosing my trust after first encounter already. :(
  14. Just done a servicing with CL Garage @Blk 5035 Ang Mo Kio Ind. Park 2 #01-369. Let me share my lousy experience below:- Selected the Multilight OWS package which comes with Performance 3 in 1, and iridium spark plug. After the engine flush and old oil drained, when the mechanic was about to pour the new engine oil in, noticed that the bottle was already opened, sticker was very worned out, and the bottle was very dirty, my impression was the bottle was re-use and starts to wonder if the engine in it, was OWS or not... Then he told me everything was done. I asked the boss, Eric if he had added the injector cleaner and the velcosity stabliser, he said he will do it later, and I proceed to make payment. When we walked out, he told me I can drive off. I was puzzled and asked him what about the last 2 bottles? He told me already poured in, together with the engine oil. Which was b-------t as I was standing there the whole time and didn't see it! He then told me that he had pre-mixed with the engine oil to save time?!?! I asked him to show me where the bottles are and he can only show me the engine flush, he couldn't show me the other 2 bottles... I was very furious and walked away, thinking back I should have insisted on a refund on the last 2 bottles of addictives, but I guess it's too late now. Worst thing is I'm not sure what type of oil is in my engine now... Not cooking oil I hope! Felt really cheated and just wanna advice all bros to avoid this shop at all costs.
  15. My worst driving experience was about a week after I got my car... Was going up Alexandra exit off the AYE at about 80-100km/h, clear traffic... Then I did a sharp right, didn't expect it to be so sharp or more like cos I was entering too fast into it... Car skidded and I thou I was to fly off the road into the AYE below... luckily managed to steer it out and kept on the road... From then on I don't drive so hard liao... Cos don't want another episode like that... So young or new drivers do note the speed limit and especially on turns, don't think you're invincible. Brothers and Sisters here got any experiences to share? Cheers

  17. Hi all, Contemplating to rent out my HDB flat since we are relocating. I've not rented out any property before so would like to tap on the experienced one on what to look out for? My concern would be whether that tenant will take care of the household items including my beloved timber flooring of the entire house. Any legal matters that I should be aware of? such as stamp duty, lawyer fees, HDB levy and etc? Kindly advise me. Thank you very much. Regards,

  19. i was fetching my female friend home after clubbing when i decided to drop by malaysia for some quick vpower after pumping my petrol, as i was heading back to singapore, i was on the 2nd lane when a malaysian car on the 3rd lane just beside me suddenly swerved into my lane. i quickly horned at him and turned into the 1st lane to avoid an accident after that the guy become crazy already, he quickly overtook me, nearly scratching my car in the process then started driving left and right while slowing down infront of me. as i wanted to turn left to head back to singapore, i signaled and filtered into the 3rd lane. his car followed suit and slowed down even more after this action i was already very scared, he was driving a proton waja which i know my car will most definitely outrun his but its the junction at the final turn b4 the causeway and there isn't any room to race away so i filtered into the 3rd lane and stopped. he stopped infront of me then i got all my kar kia to go out and huntam him up and smash up his car to teach him a lesson

  21. i recently bought a small item from ebay i paid the item via paypal and after 30 days i have not received the item seller claims to have sent the item it cost me US$60 including postage i am not sure what to do since there is no registered mail involved how to prove that seller or buyer is telling the truth what can we do about it if seller truly send the item, he will loose money if he decides to send again if buyer forget about, then loose US$60 if truly the item is lost during transit - then how to settle any advice appreciated frightened of buying from ebay again
  22. I was around the area so I went to buy 2 pieces of aircon filter from Sparks Car Care @ Sin Ming Little did i know that this turn out to be a time wasting purchase and a bad experience. I went to Sin Ming, feels like I went to Sim Lim. The counter staffs are friendly. no doubts about that. no fault there. I told a staff which 2 pc i need for 2 different car models. Car A & B and the YOM respectively + specifically say it's for the new model of Car A & B. as both Car A and B have 2 entirely different model running around. The first mistake that the counter staff made was quoting the price w/o GST. quote price if GST is chargeable must be with GST - http://www.iras.gov.sg/irasHome/page04.aspx?id=10830 Only upon payment then I realized its quoted b4 GST. This is unacceptable and especially for a company of such size and reputation. Personally, I don't think this reflect badly on the staff but rather management who ought to know and train the staff on govt regulations. anyhow no big deal. To the next part. Next when they retrieve the AC filters for me to make payment, I insist on checking. It was 2 pieces for Car A. one for the older model, one for the new. The check is simply done by looking at the box cover of the filter where it was checked against the model it was made for. How simple is it to differentiate? I can pick it up from Stamford's shelf myself. Not rocket science. When I told the staff the mistake, he still insist it is just the sizing, it doesn't matter. Maybe to him, but its my $ and my car. I explained to them the differences and insist on getting the correct one for Car B. turns out Car B filter was out of stock. Now, I don't know if they tried to pulled a fast one by simply replacing an out of stock one with a similar/usable but not correct part or an honest mistake. If I service my car with them will they get the parts right given a simple thing like ac filter also can get wrong? Well, I will never find out as I never have and never will. I am not afraid to put the workshop name simply because I am not libeling them as it's the truth.
  23. Juz some of the goodies that were available for trashing....opps....i mean, driving. New CLS 350 CDI, C-Class Coupe, ML350 New SLK
  24. Hi all, need some advice and help. Recently I had an encounter at Harbour Front with my ride. I was ferrying 3 fellas in my ride. 2 of them quite big size and then the last one quite medium built. The one sitting next to me was very big size. My car was one car length away from another vehicle in front when it e brake. I jam brake and discovered to my horror that my brakes took a longer time to stop.....In fact, only approximately a palm separate me and the vehicle in front. Still managed to stop in time but my heart almost flunked out.. ..This was shared in one of the threads in this forum. Realised from this incident that there is not much bite on my brake, I decided to go for aftermarket brake pads. I went and got myself Bendix Ultimate. It is good. Excellent stoppage distance. But notice some lines on my rotors. Here comes the query. Every time I started my ride and move it from stationary position, ie out of parking lot, the initial bite of Bendix Ultimate was v soft. I need to depress my brake pedal a few times as I was moving out to get the bite. Been using it for about 1 week plus about some 200 Km liao. Still like this. Went to my regular mechanic to service my brakes and change brake fluid. Improved a bit but still need to pump the pedal to get the bite. Is this normal? I heard that such performance brakes are for high speed braking and may not be effective for bumper to bumper braking. Is this true? I realised the braking feel is different and very grippy. The ABS not so easily activated. Thank You for your advice and help.
