  1. I will be frank with you - There are numerous goondu drivers here in Singapore. Drivers that don't stop at the stop line, those that signal right only to filter left, and those who constantly brake despite a clear traffic flow in their path. These are some of the many goondu drivers I have come across before. However, I have yet to encounter a goondu driver like this cam car: IMG_7428.MOV.mp4 What Happened? After entering the expressway, the cam car driver gradually comes to a complete halt in the middle of a filter lane due to his inability to change lanes. As a result, the vehicles behind him, a motorcycle and a Mercedes C180, had to follow suit and slow down. However, the Mercedes C180 driver was not pleased with the cam car driver due to his poor driving ability. Not to anyone's surprise, the Mercedes driver began flashing his high beams and honking the cam car driver. The Mercedes driver then swiftly changes lanes and accelerates past the goondu cam car driver. Filter lane Essentially, the purpose of a filter lane of an expressway is to allow motorists to accelerate and merge into the expressway safely. By stopping in the middle of the filter lane, the cam car driver poses a major road hazard to fellow motorists, which could potentially cause an accident. Netizens Comments Netizens went all out against the cam car driver. Some of these comments were so blunt, it kinda hurt deep down. HAHAHA this comment is funny. I can imagine the cam car driver requesting for permission to take off😂 ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 2. Social media is a double-edged sword. Despite the benefits and connectivity it brings, social media can cause harm to you as well. Watch this video to find out how: IMG_7241.MP4 What Happened? All it took was for a Volkswagen driver to upload this 8-second video to screw himself over. The Volkswagen driver was filmed by his passenger speeding down an unnamed expressway in Singapore at above 200km/h before hitting a top speed of 219km/h. "This is my type of therapeutic" and "will prefer to be passenger tho" were used as in-text captions of the video. Considering the maximum speed limit is 90km/h on an expressway, the Volkswagen driver would have exceeded the speed limit by 129km/h. Even though it seemed like he wasn't caught for excessive speeding initially, the 8-second video posted on the driver's social media account will probably get him into trouble with the traffic police. For exceeding the speed limit of above 60km/h, the offender will be awarded 24 demerit points. If he is a new or probationary driver (highly unlikely that he is), his driving licence will be revoked. However, if he is a non-probationary driver with no prior suspension records, his driving licence will be liable for suspension for up to 12 weeks. Or suppose he is a non-probationary driver that was previously suspended before. In that case, his driving licence will be liable for suspension for up to 36 months, depending on how many times he was previously suspended. Was he driving a Volkswagen? Yes, the car in the video is certainly a Volkswagen. The main giveaway was the layout and appearance of the car's dashboard. And yes, that includes the iconic Volkswagen's check engine light, which ascertains that the said car is a Volkswagen. A sharp-eyed netizen went a step further to identify the model of the Volkswagen - the Scirocco R, by simply looking at the car's rear-view mirror. NGL, that's pretty impressive. Netizens' Comments Impressive CSI skills! Absolutely agree. 3. "It was my car, my friend drove. All I can say he panicked when the bike cut, and the lorry got close. RIP my car." The above was the background information provided along with the following user-submitted video: IMG_7234.MP4 What Happened? It was just another day travelling on the road until the black car in the video turned on its left signal indicator. Moments after signalling, the car veers to the right and sideswipes against the concrete barrier to the right. When panic set in, the driver immediately swerved to the left without checking for traffic. As a result, the black car unintentionally performs a pit manoeuvre on a passing Toyota Harrier. The SUV immediately lost control and collided head-first into the same concrete barrier that the black car sideswiped earlier. Meanwhile, the black car crashed head-first into the concrete barrier similar to the Harrier. According to the user that submitted the video, the blunder caused by his friend was due to vehicles that passed by him too closely. Hmmm...seems like a convenient excuse, doesn't it? And even if it is, isn't his friend's reaction a tad too slow? As the local saying goes, "if you can't swim, don't say your swimming trunks are too big". Likewise, if you can't drive, then don't - Drivers like that are better off taking public transport for the sake of other motorists. Netizens' Comments LOL the driver's brain need to buffer? Haiz....playing the blame game. Not sure who the car owner and driver trying to smoke🤨 ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 4. Besides PMDs and cyclists, road hoggers on expressways are one of the most annoying motorists you can possibly encounter. But what should you do when you encounter one? Watch what happens to this cam car when he decides to tailgate a road hogging Mercedes: What Happened? Cam car was travelling on lane 1 of the expressway when he encountered a road hogging Mercedes-Benz B180. To signal the Mercedes driver that he was road hogging and should move to a slower lane, the cam car driver decided to tailgate the Mercedes ahead of him. In response, the foolish Mercedes driver performed an abrupt brake check to warn the cam car driver for tailgating him. As a result, the cam car driver acted accordingly and braked abruptly to avoid a collision with the Mercedes. Shortly after, the cam car performs a lane change to the 2nd lane and floors the accelerator to overtake the road hogging Mercedes from its left. TBH, this was what the cam car should have done in the first place. Especially since the road hogging vehicle is a mere B180 which takes 3 working days to get to 100km/h - most cars would overtake it effortlessly, and this incident could be avoided entirely. The Debate It is apparent that this issue was a talking point for many netizens, and many have voiced their opinions on this matter: What are your thoughts on this matter? Netizens' Comments This is the most logical action to take. Dude, how high are you to comment something like this? ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 5. Have you heard of the domino effect? According to Google, it is referred to as "the cumulative effect produced when one event sets off a chain of similar events". Watch the domino effect in action here: What Happened? A Honda Shuttle and a tipper truck slammed into each other as they decided to switch lanes simultaneously. The collision caused major damage to the Honda Shuttle, leaving it with a pretty wrecked rear with a shattered window. Debris also flew into the adjacent lanes, which caused a grey Honda Civic to jam brake on lane 2 of the expressway to avoid some pieces of small debris. As a result of the Honda Civic's emergency brake, a Kia Cerato Forte Koup behind it could not brake in time and rear-ended the Honda Civic. The rear-ending seemed pretty intense as the Honda Civic rolled several metres forward, despite its brakes being applied. Needless to say, the accident left the front bumper of the Kia a complete wreck too. Netizens' Comments The biker is very lucky. And kudos to him for remaining so calm! IMO, the Honda Civic driver most likely panicked and performed an e-brake. I am confused.... ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  6. There is a reason why drunk-driving is against the law and highly discouraged. The following video explains it all: What Happened? In the wee hours of the morning, at around 4am, a Toyota Corolla was being driven haphazardly along the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE). In the dashcam footage above, the Toyota Corolla swerved left and right for no apparent reason and could not keep within its lane. Moments later, when negotiating a bend, the driver could not handle the turn and collided with the railing of the expressway. And it was not because the car lost traction. Instead, the car simply veered off-course as the driver did not steer the car accordingly. After the collision, the Toyota abruptly stopped in the middle of the road for a couple of seconds before driving off again. The video ends with the Toyota Corolla continuing its journey on the expressway in a hazardous manner that it previously demonstrated. After observing the Toyota Corolla, it is highly likely that the driver is drunk as a skunk or has fallen asleep at the wheel. Which do you think it is - sleepy or drunk? I am just hoping that a couple of traffic police turns up to stop him before he hurts himself or other motorists around him. Netizens' Comments I am hoping that the driver gets stopped at a roadblock at the very least. Imagine if you are the passenger in his car🤡🤡🤡 Let me know in the comments below if you think he is drunk-driving or sleep-driving! ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 7. Transcab taxi drivers are notorious for their driving behaviour among the various taxi companies. It is an impression that the public has developed over time, which I couldn't agree more. Here's why: Warning: This video contains excessive flashing lights. If you have photosensitive epilepsy, please do not watch the video What Happened? In the TikTok video posted by the cam bike, a Transcab taxi furiously chases an Audi A6 down an expressway. From the cam bike's speedometer, the Transcab taxi and the Audi A6's speed was approximately 100km/h or above. While pursuing the Audi A6, the Transcab repeatedly flashes his high beam at the A6 for a prolonged period. The taxi driver's flashing rate was so fast that he might as well have turned on his high beam. NGL, regardless of what may have happened off-cam, the Transcab driver's actions suggest that he was itching for a fight with the Audi driver. Lane 4 Is The New Lane 1 With all this unnecessary drama and 'road hogging' on lane 1, a black car (who obviously couldn't give two shits) tore down lane 4 of the expressway at high speed. Judging from the cam bike's speedometer, I am not surprised if the black car was travelling at 120km/h or faster. Netizens' Comments 🤷‍♂️ Here you go! Just leaving this here for context. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!
  8. Contrary to what was taught, your vehicle's high beam is seldom used as a safety feature to enhance your visibility. More often than not, it is a visual sign of giving the motorist in front of you a middle finger. Watch how a flash of high beam quickly turned this BMW driver unhappy: What Happened? This incident occurred at a Tampines Expressway (TPE) exit towards Punggol Road. While traveling on lane 2, the taxi ahead of the cam car indicated his left signal and proceeded to change from lane 1 to 2. The taxi continued leaving his left signal and started changing lanes from lane 2 to 3. However, before the taxi could successfully change lanes to lane 3, a BMW 535i emerged from behind. For some reason, the cam car decided to flash his high beam as a 'warning' to both the taxi and BMW drivers. And not to anyone's surprise, the BMW driver quickly became unhappy at the cam car's unnecessary flashing of high beams. As a result, the BMW driver gave the cam car a brake check and proceeded to switch lanes multiple times to be behind the cam car. He proceeded to give the cam car a taste of his own medicine - by shining some light on him. Moments later, the BMW driver quickly accelerated and cut abruptly in front of the cam car before performing another brake check manoeuvre. Was It Necessary? TBH, the cam car's action was uncalled for. At 0:08 of the video, the taxi was already canceling his lane change manoeuvre when the cam car flashed his high beam. Essentially, the cam car's high beam did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but agitated the BMW driver. In similar scenarios, honking is the better solution to alert fellow drivers instead of high beams. After all, the intended purpose of a car horn is to alert motorists of impending car accidents/collisions. Netizens' Comments Exactly! It is important to check your blindspot before performing any lane change. No problem then want to find problem🤷‍♂️ I wouldn't bother retrieving my dashcam footage for something this trivial. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news, and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. 9. While we don’t know what type of influence the driver was under in this accident, it definitely was not a good one. At around 8pm on Saturday (Jan 15), a driver spotted a Volkswagen Jetta driving diagonally in its lane on the AYE. Situated on the right lane, the silver car struggles to maintain its position in the middle of the lane. The vehicle veers slightly to the right now and then, with the driver attempting to correct its direction. Seconds later, disaster strikes as the Jetta veers too far to the right, hitting the road divider of the expressway. The impact of the hit sends the car flying forward, pushing it in the opposite direction. The car flies across 3 lanes and makes its second hit with a large white truck. Both vehicles come to an immediate stop in the middle of the expressway as the cam car drives away. What happened? While there has not been a statement on what happened with the Jetta driver, netizens were quick to offer up their theories. #1: Driver was sleepy The most popular theory was that the driver was too sleepy. Netizens had noted that right before the incident, the car was already constantly veering towards the right of the lane. This could signify that the driver could have been falling asleep at the wheel. Some even shared their personal experiences and anecdotes about driving while being exhausted (which is not something you should do!). #2: Driver was drunk The second theory was that the driver could have been drinking before this incident. Again, netizens related the shaky driving before the incident to the influence of alcohol. They reasoned that there was no way a driver would drive in the first lane if he knew that he was tired beforehand. On the other hand, if one had been drinking, the driver could still take the first lane if he felt fine (despite his judgment being impaired). #3: Driver was distracted The last theory was that the driver could have been distracted by his phone. In this scenario, it would make sense that the Jetta was driving in the first lane as the driver was physically okay. He could have been answering a call or texting – something that some of us are guilty of doing when we are on the expressway. While we don’t know for sure which of these theories are true, the fact is that a driver should not be on the road if he is exhausted or has been drinking. 10. I assume that most drivers have encountered road hogs every now and then (I know, they're not that fun to deal with). While some of these road hoggers tend to be pretty new to driving, there are some incredibly annoying 'lao jiao' drivers who insist on holding up traffic during busy timings. Because of their behaviour, it's hard to switch lanes sometimes and it's even harder to keep calm when I'm in a rush. So what do you do when you encounter road hoggers? Do you just honk at them until they speed up or do you just suck it up and follow behind until they're out of your way? 😞
  11. If you frequent the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) for your daily commute, you may have experienced a major traffic jam on Monday morning (27 Sep). Here's the reason behind the major jam during the morning peak hour: What Happened? The accident took place along the PIE, involving multiple vehicles. A blue container truck swerved across multiple lanes to avoid a lorry on Lane 3 of the PIE. This resulted in the container truck colliding into multiple vehicles, causing a significant amount of collateral damage. The accident caused a severe standstill jam that choked up the PIE, leaving only 1 out of 3 lanes passable. The Outcome The video showed 6 vehicles involved in the accident – The tipper truck, 3 lorries, 1 Toyota Corolla and 1 Hyundai Advante. The impact from the collision was so great that fumes began to emit from the engine bay of the Hyundai Avante. One lorry had its side completely torn off as a result of the collision. As a result of this massive accident, debris was strewn across the PIE. PSA: If you happen to drive past this stretch of the PIE, do check your tyres for any puncture. UPDATE: A total of 13 people were injured from the accident. While 10 of them were conveyed to the hospital, 3 of them were assessed by SCDF for minor injuries and refused to be conveyed to the hospital. An Underlying Matter Despite all the attention on the accident itself, there is an underlying issue – The safe transportation of foreign workers. Online sources mentioned multiple workers were present in the lorries when the accident occurred. Accidents like the above are why stricter regulations that enforce a safer mode of transporting foreign workers should be mandated. If you agree with me and want to make a change, do sign the online petition below: https://www.change.org/p/land-transport-authority-make-it-mandatory-to-transport-workers-in-buses-or-vans I hope all those involved in the accident are alright. Netizens' Comments Claim insurance for a normal accident also headache already, let alone this one. Indeed, there was nothing that cars on lane 1 and 2 could do. Whoa there cowboy! 12. Everyone knows that skidding is a common problem for drivers, and I'm sure some have even experienced it at one point throughout their driving experience. As someone who has never had that problem yet (and I don't wish to), I'm not really sure what to do if my car were to ever skid. Do I steer away from the direction and pump the brakes or do I pray to God that I won't get to meet him so soon? Any tips on this? 😥 And also, I know that SG is probably filled with a lot of potential skidding hotspots. Are there any infamous areas that I should take note of? 👀 P.S. If you want to read about an accident that happened recently because of skidding, you can check out my blog post:
  13. A driver was caught reversing dangerously along Braddell Road with a moderate amount of traffic. It's insane! I know! The incident took place yesterday (July 6) at 3pm (which is around the time when traffic starts to pick up at that area). A red Honda Fit having missed the initial exit leading towards Lorong Chuan/CTE(SLE) along Braddell Road (see map to see where we think this happened), stops in the middle of the road with total disregard of the motorist behind it. As the video progresses, you realise that it's slowly reversing and stopping every few seconds to avoid crashing into other drivers. Even heavy vehicles had to stop and switch lanes when they noticed what the driver was doing. Who is this mad driver? According to eyewitnesses, the driver was a lady who appeared to be in a rush towards her destination. This was incredibly hard to watch and it's a miracle that she managed to get away with it. Netizens’ reactions According to the Driver Improvement Points System (DIPS), reversing unnecessarily on roadways is a serious offence. If caught, the driver will be issued 6 demerit points and a composition fine of $200. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 14. As much as I like to eat my char siew rice at Fatty Cheong @ ABC market (not sponsored), I also like to diss all the irresponsible BlueSG drivers out there. Today, we have a YP BlueSG driver dangerously crossing a double white line at the exit of an expressway. Remarkable driving? I beg to differ. What is a double white line? What's the penalty? For driving without due care or reasonable consideration - Charged in court, up to $1,000 fine or imprisonment for up to 3 years or both (first offence) and a ban from driving for at least 2 years. Here's the full video. And for folks who want to rant about goondus crossing double white lines, we have a dedicated thread for this! #proMCF #MCFHuat
  15. So a quick disclaimer before we continue - We don't know what might happen after the Traffic Police gets alerted to this video evidence, or they might have even stopped the truck driver after the video got cut off. But what's happening in the video seems rather peculiar. Shared on SG Road Vigilante's page is this video of a Malaysian truck doing more than 90km/h on lane 1 on PIE heading towards Tuas on the 22nd of February 2021. Sometime later in the video, the Traffic Police closed in in their car and it looked like they had the intention to notify the Scania truck of its offence. Naturally, most of us would go "haha the truck sure get it from the Police!" but no, nothing happened! What a miracle for the truck driver. But, as I mentioned at the start of this post, the Traffic Police might act after watching the video. It's a little too early to celebrate yet Mr Truck Driver. Here's what some netizens had to say about the matter. What do we think? Well, if he got off without any punishment, he should consider himself lucky and not do it again.
  16. Not sure why anyone would risk their life doing something like this but hey it's quite funny in our opinion. We are guessing this young man which can be seen wearing shades (at night) and smoking, needs more followers for his Instagram or Tiktok. So he has to unfortunately, rely on his goofy dance moves and some courage to dance on our expressway ( looks like ECP to us). Did he garner more followers? Only he knows. Hopefully, with Fabrications About Singapore's sharing of his video and us also helping him out, he can achieve his goal.
  17. 119810553_1098858070552615_6169005424589589203_n.mp4 "Hey man, where's the fire?", is what one should be asking the driver of the white Toyota. From the look of the video, the driver was going way too fast. If he wasn't rushing to a fire, maybe he was rushing off for something else... But let's not digress. As the old adage goes, "if you want to do something stupid, make sure others don't get hurt". Well, guess the driver of the Toyota didn't get the memo too. Speeding like a madman, fine. Crash into the central divider, it's your fault so live with it. But knocking into someone else after crashing your car? Not cool, man. Especially since the other car was minding their own business until they got a rude jolt because another car crashed into them. Stay safe, people. If you want to speed, buy a PlayStation or Xbox and get those racing simulator games like Gran Turismo or Forza. A lot cheaper and a whole lot safer.
  18. 2 hospitalised after chain collision involving 5 cars along Central Expressway source: https://mothership.sg/2020/08/cte-5-cars-accident/ The police were alerted to an accident along the Central Expressway (CTE) towards the Seletar Expressway (SLE) at about 5:20pm on Aug. 28, CNA reported. The accident involved five cars, with one car mounted onto what appears to be a Porsche car which collided with another car in front of them. Videos of the accident have been circulating on social media. A 56-year-old driver and his 58-year-old passenger from one of the cars were conscious when they were sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Police investigations are ongoing.
  19. With the weather turning slightly wetter in the recent days, this part of the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) is turning out to be quite deadly. Shared by the 'good samaritans' of SG Road Vigilante, someone has been recording from his/her apartment some of the accidents that happened at the Jalan Anak Bukit flyover towards the direction of Jurong. As we can all see, all the four incidents had the drivers losing control of the rear of their vehicles as they crest over the left hand turn. Some of drivers looked like they oversped but not every one was doing so. We guessed these drivers all lifted off the accelerator abruptly and/or had bad tyres at the rear while negotiating the turn, causing their vehicles to go into oversteer. LTA has made this corner less treacherous than before in the recent years but it still does seem to catch quite a few drivers out. Other than having good tyres, our advice when approaching the corner is to maintain your speed and to obviously keep to the speed limit. P.S. this corner does remind us of the infamous corner, Eau Rouge of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. Watch the clip and see how cars go off the corner as they lose the rear of their cars in that deadly turn.
  20. A video of two drivers speeding and almost crashing to their deaths seems to be circulating on social media, Whatsapp groups and Telegram chats. Here's the link to the 14-second video. They almost died In the video, you can see both the BMW and dashcam driver take evasive action to avoid a head-on collision with a stationary vehicle on lane 1 (rightmost lane). If they had crashed, based on how fast they were going past other cars on the road, they would have died. Online Chatter - Pro or lucky? I'm not even sure whether to be horrified or impressed by the display of lightning quick reflexes in the video. Netizens seem to be leaning more towards impressed. Indeed. They are waiting.
  21. I wonder whether the traffic rules has changed lately Are Lorries and Vans allowed to take 2nd lanes of the expressway? I encounter many of them driving <70 km/h ,hogging the 2nd lanes during the evenings on PIE . Are they contributing to the congestion ?!
  22. Will the solutions be autopilot? Because humans have errors and lead to traffic build up?
  23. At last, 14 more days! Punggol is getting its new road to TPE/KPE being Phase 1 starting 25 Nov 2018. Hope that it alleviates the peak hour jam (even on weekends). Kinda of excited as I'm personally affected by the jam everyday. Let's look at the situation after it opens. But then again, it is during school holidays and the real situation should be reflected next year when school reopens. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/new-punggol-link-road-to-tpe-kpe-10908120
  24. Surprise no one saw this? How true? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04Jg1XhzPmI
  25. Kind of curious, how closely do you follow the car in front on the expressway? EVERYDAY I see people following so closely. EVERY SINGLE day on a crowded expressway during peak hours. I am sure there are some of them here in MCF? The big question I have is WHY WHY? I know this has been discussed previously but I just had an accident on my new car a few weeks back so I thought to raise the awareness again. Driving during peak hour on the ECP. The guy in front of me was braking so I started braking too... then all of a sudden he probably slam his brakes because I see he came to a complete stop really fast. As his brake light was already on, there is no visual cues other than his car coming close really fast of a sudden. So I hit my brakes much harder and I managed to come to a stop. the car B behind me just kissed my bumper. Slight damage... The car C further behind slammed his brakes and avoided hitting car B but I think there was car D and E which all slammed together into car C..... There was injuries on C D E. Car B ask to settle privately as damage was minor..... the point of this story is PLEASE claim these tail gatters as much as you legally can. let this be a deterrent... if you want to follow closely... please pay the price when accidents happen. Because there is no way you can stop in time during an emergency brake.
