  1. How can we allow foreigners carrying fake licenses to be driving an ambulance? Or rather... to be driving in Singapore at all? What a lapse. I'm starting to think there are perhaps many more such "fake license" drivers on our roads. http://therealsingapore.com/content/foreig...se-fake-license

  4. The 17-year-old student's worst fears were realised when she was accosted in the lift of her Woodlands Drive HDB block early last Saturday. A tall, well-built man slipped in past the lift's closing doors and wrapped his right arm around her neck. That was just the start of her five-minute ordeal, during which the man not only robbed but also groped her. She reported the matter to the police, who searched the area but could not find the man. To make matters worse, the CCTV in the lift turned out to be only an empty casing. Read the full report in The New Paper on Tuesday (June 19).

  7. Johor Balu MP - Sporeans are nothing but trouble! Come here create trouble but go back Spore kena tamed. Damn!! Singaporeans fake car theft to claim insurance By Desiree Tresa Gasper An assemblyman has called for an investigation into Singaporeans who "dump" their vehicles in Johor to claim insurance when they return to the island republic. Datuk Tee Siew Kiong (BNPulai Sebatang) said such incidents were rampant and they gave a false impression that many vehicles were being stolen here. "A few Singaporean friends have admitted that Singaporeans who own luxury cars but could no longer afford it, prefer to dispose of them here and make a police report claiming it was stolen," he said. He cited the case of a Singaporean who reported the loss of his car but refused to claim it when it was found by Malaysian police. Tee said these Singaporeans could also sell their vehicle ownership passes worth hundreds of (Singapore) dollars. "Our police should work with their Singapore counterparts and the Interpol to clamp down on such activities," he said. Meanwhile, in his speech, Tee also lambasted Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng for making derogatory statements pertaining to crime in the state and said statistics showed that the crime rate in Penang was much higher than Johor. "For each 100,000 residents here 639 crime cases are recorded whereas for Penang, about 800 cases are recorded for every 100,000 residents," he said, adding that this clearly proved that Johor was safer. His statement was immediately interrupted by Dr Boo Cheng Hou (DAPSkudai) and Gwee Tiong Hiang (DAPBentayan) who said that Lim had already apologised and it was unnecessary to bring up the matter. Tee said the apology was insincere and was only done via the media. "He only knows how to blame others and he should get his facts right," he said.
  8. Hi all, I recently fell victim to some fake Mophie Juice Pack Plus that I bought from a financial institution's promotion. The promotional offer sold the gadget at 1/3 of the original price! Anyway, after Mophie's tech support verified that the ones that I bought were fakes, I complained and the financial institution did an exchange for me with the real stuff from authorised reseller! I did a comparison between the fake and real Juice Pack and had the comparison documented on my humble little blog. Would sincerely like to share the information that I had gathered with the rest of the forumers. If you suspected your product to be a fake, please take a look at what I had gathered ( Visit My Website ). Please educate other users as well. The lesson I learnt was... if it is too good to be true, most likely it ain't true!

  11. Yahoo News 18 Chinese nationals jailed over fake degrees For their involvement in a fake degree scam, at least 18 foreign workers from China were sentenced earlier this week to jail in Singapore for four weeks each. The workers had been found by a local court to have provided forged certificates to obtain work passes to work for T Y Enterprise and Sun Blues Cleaning Maintenance. A spokesman for the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said that while another 10 workers from China will be charged with similar offences on Thursday, another nine are being repatriated after being served with warning letters
  12. Not too sure if this is the truth or a conspiracy theory. Apparently, US had delivered fake gold bars to China in 2009 as part of the deal for some debt settlement, fast forward to 2011 and the IMF's chief was framed by the US as he knew about the truth. A long read but interesting nevertheless. It all starts to make sense now with the global economic on the brink of destruction, maybe post-phoned to 2012 after the US presidential elections. The take away message is that if its the truth, by plonking down your money on gold may not be the wisest idea. How about silver instead? A new report prepared for Prime Minister Putin by the Federal Security Service (FSB) says that former International Monetary Fund (IMF) Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn was charged and jailed in the US for sex crimes on May 14th after his discovery that all of the gold held in the United States Bullion Depository located at Fort Knox was ‘missing and/or unaccounted’ for. IMF Chief Framed A recent discovery—in October of 2009—has been suppressed by the main stream media but has been circulating among the “big money” brokers and financial kingpins and is just now being revealed to the public. It involves the gold in Fort Knox—the US Treasury gold—that is the equity of our national wealth. In short, millions (with an “m”) of gold bars are fake! US Sells Fake Gold Bars to China

  14. On 8-12-2010, I bought a pair of Ray-Ban Tech carbon fibre model RB 8301 at a spectacle shop at Everton Park for $190. Three weeks later, I discovered that the Ray-Ban signature logo wording on the right lens peeled off which make me question on their authenticity. I brought the spectacle to the shop and was assured that it was a genuine one and he got it from a distributer and will get it replace with a new one. I got a replacement and now testing it. I suspected that I was sold with a replica Ray-Ban sunglass since Ray-Ban signature wording on the right lens easily peeled off where as Ray-Ban are well known for their quality. I was not given a receipt for my purchased and the pricing was below a certain price. Any members here ever encounter this. Thank you.

  20. Came across this news from wan bao. Look at photos - left is Spore celebrity hairstylist Jonal Chong. Right is a Spanish movie director... Maybe answer is here? The one on the far right shows Hollywood A-list actress Nicole Kidman standing beside Spanish director Alejandro Amenabar. Click here to find out more! The other shows her in the same pose with Singapore hairstylist Jonal Chong. Both look almost identical. In both pictures, the Australian actress is wearing the same black tube dress lined with vertical silver stripes. Amenabar and Mr Chong appear to share the same get-up of a black jacket over a blue shirt. An online search reveals that two websites, namely bbc.co.uk and Hollywood.com, have the same Amenabar/Kidman shot. Further checks show that it was taken on Aug 7, 2001, outside the Directors' Guild of America's screening auditorium in Los Angeles. The auditorium was screening the premiere of Amenabar's acclaimed psychological horror film, The Others, which starred Kidman as a mother who lived in a house with two children. There are also other shots of Kidman and Amenabar at the same event posted online. my paper met Mr Chong yesterday afternoon at his salon, Jonal Chong Hair Couture, in Orchard Central. When asked about his picture with Kidman, Mr Chong, 48, said in Mandarin: "The picture was taken in 2002 at the premiere of Birth in London." Birth was a 2004 film directed by British director Jonathan Glazer and starred Kidman as a widow who was convinced that her dead husband had been reincarnated as a 10-year-old boy. Asked to explain the similarity between the two premiere photographs, he said: "I don't know... I can't explain it. I don't know why Nicole's head is facing the same direction. I don't know why the background looks similar." When pressed further to offer a possible explanation for the striking resemblance between the photographs, he said that "it's wrong to cut and paste" and repeatedly muttered: "Who would want to smear my reputation?" Asked if he has other pictures of himself and Kidman, he said: "I have many but I left them in London." He said he has a hair salon in London. He said this is the only photo of him and Kidman which he brought home from London because "it showed me attending my first movie premiere with Nicole", he explained. Mr Chong's business name card (above) also features the same Kidman photograph. It is printed with a handwritten message that says: "To Jonal Chong, Hair Couture, all the best, Nicole Kidman." The same message was also printed on a large poster of Kidman which was hanging in the salon yesterday. He added that he would have gone to Los Angeles to style her hair for the Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton hotel on Jan 16, if not for the amount of business he has to handle for the upcoming Chinese New Year. Mr Chong, who is also the managing director of his salon, was interviewed previously by my paper. In an August 2009 article, he said he had been based in London for seven years and was Kidman's hairstylist from 2000 to 2005. He also said he styled hair for American actress Katherine Heigl and British actor Hugh Grant. In the article, he also said that British actor Ewan McGregor contacted him to style his hair for Moulin Rouge's London premiere. It was there that Kidman reportedly hired him on the spot. He told my paper yesterday that he took a five-day advanced course at Vidal Sassoon School in October in 1985. He returned to Singapore in 2005 for family matters. He also added that he continued to style Kidman's hair from 2006 to 2008 on an ad-hoc basis. An online search shows that over the past decade, Mr Chong was a director in a pawn shop, Kwong Hin Pawn Shop. He is also a director in three businesses, namely Jonal Chong Hair Couture, Jonal Chong International and Savoir Fair. He was also featured prominently in a series of print advertisements for his salon last month and on Sunday. [email protected]
