  1. To all owners of Fiat punto grande and honda jazz owners. Preferably manual owners. I have finally zeroed down to purchasing either cars. I was just hoping some of you might share with me the performance, downside, maintainence and FC of the car. Much appreciated. =D P.S. I'm purchasing a second hand car, probably around 2-3 years old.
  2. [extract] The newly previewed Abarth 695 Competizione is a stunner. On the inside that is as we're very familiar with the exterior of the Fiat 500 based Abarth 500 and 500 Esseesee models that have been released earlier. I mean take a look at the seats in the photo above. These seats called

  7. Recent news from Fiat Spa..................Fiat Multiair Technology Announced - More Power, Less Fuel, Less Emissions. Check out here: Fiat Multiair Technology {qoute} With tougher emission standards on the horizon and consumers demanding even more fuel efficient models, Fiat has unveiled their new MultiAir petrol engine. The company considers the new powertrain to be one of the greatest advances in petrol engine design in recent years as the MultiAir offers more power, reduced fuel consumption, and lower exhaust emissions compared to conventional petrol engines. Given the company's history of using technological breakthroughs to improve both performance and efficiency in diesel engines, Fiat took a similar approach when developing the new MultiAir engine. In a conventional engine about 10% of the input energy is wasted in the process of pumping the air charge from a lower intake pressure to the atmospheric exhaust pressure. Fiat originally began looking into the possibility of reducing the wasted energy back in the 1980's but was only recently able to develop a new system that uses direct air charge metering at the cylinder inlet while maintaining a constant natural upstream pressure. The new system is extremely technical but in essence it works by a having a series of solenoid valves being turned on and off by the rotation of the camshaft. When the solenoid valves are activated, several different scenarios occur to optimize power and fuel usage. (A full overview of the how the system works is available in the press release) Among the many benefits of the new MultiAir engine is up to a 10% increase in power thanks to a performance-oriented mechanical camshaft profile, a revised intake valve closing system which improves low RPM torque by up to 15%, and a 10% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions because of the elimination of pumping losses. More important is the fact that the new MultiAir engine can achieve up to an overall 25% increase in fuel economy compared to conventional naturally aspirated engines with the same level of performance. In the future, MultiAir technology could see its introduction on Fiat's diesel engines as it promises to offer up to a 60% reduction in NOx emissions and up to 40% reduction of CO2 emissions during cold starts and engine warm-up. {unquote} Enjoy the video clip.

The Auburn Hills-based automaker, which is now operated by Fiat S.p.A., said net income amounted to US$116 million in the first quarter of 2011 compared to a net loss of $197 million in the same period last year. At the same time, the company

  12. TTS has advertised the 2.0 MPV at $125K .......... let's see what it is up against Honda Odyssey 2.4 at $105,500 Mit Grandis 2.4 at ard $94K Toyota Picnic 2.0 at ard $98K Nissan Presage 2.5 Highway Star at $115 (also comes with sliding door) looking at the competition, you must really want a Fiat to buy the Ulyssee .......what do you think? Price too high?
  13. With a simple stroke of badge engineering, Fiat the Italian automotive giant, has effectively found its replacement for the ageing Ulysse MPV. One of the benefits of taking over an ailing American company, namely Chrysler (who surprisingly was once part of the Mercedes Benz comglomerate), is that Fiat has a cupboard full of fairly new cars for them to adopt, scrap, redesign or market. Hence the Dodge Journey rebadged (or mildly revised) into the Fiat Freemont. Set for launch at the upcomming 2011 Geneva Motor Show the Fiat Freemont brings in some Americana into the usually very Italian Fiat automotive group. I suppose it brings in more than a touch of sanity and boredom has usually we've come to expect quirky, zany and unique looking vehicles from Fiat, even if they are MPVs. Those that remember the Multipla would agree with what I am trying to convey here. I mean, take a look at the 'Freemont' name. It sounds like something run of the mill. From the Ulysse, which is very Greek Mythology to something from middle America. It's like going from Xena the Warrior Princess chic to maths teacher in a blink of an eye. The only differences that enable the Dodge Journey to turn into a Fiat Freemont are revised bumpers, a different grille and some LED rear lights. This is like watching a Mitsubishi Lancer turn into a Proton Inspira or a Toyota Passo into a Daihatsu Sirion. The only really chic addition aside from the nicer looking front bumper are the larger 17inch wheel setup. Compare this to the Dodge and the Fiat looks slightly better. But it still lacks that extra Latin flair in my opinion. It looks quite Japanese instead. A decent Mitsubishi Outlander/Airtrek look (if you squint) with some touches of a Kia instead of an Italian job. Come launch time, the Freemont people carrier will be powered by a 2.0liter Fiat Multijet diesel with 140bhp or 170bhp running through a manual gearbox to its front wheels. There will be an all wheel drive variant as well as one with an automatic transmission that will be launched at a later date together with a 276bhp 3.6liter V6 petrol powered flagship model. Expect it to be on sale in Europe in the second quarter of this year. Pricing has not been announced as yet and one now wonders. If you bought a Dodge Journey here in Singapore, could you buy the bumpers, the grille, the rear lights and slap on some Fiat badges? This would add from added flair to something remarkably dull. Especially with those undersized wheels in the original Journey displayed above. Or.....would you actually buy the Fiat variant if its brought in?
  14. A new limited edition version of the Fiat Stilo 2.4 20v goes on sale throughout Fiat Auto's UK dealer network this weekend (7/8 May). Timed to coincide with the Spanish Grand Prix, where Ferrari's Michael Schumacher will be pushing hard for his first Grand Prix victory of 2005, the new Prodrive-developed UK market bound Stilo Schumacher, which was exclusively revealed by Italiaspeed back in January, has been created as a tribute to Michael Schumacher's fifth consecutive Formula One World Championship Driver's title with Ferrari. The Stilo Schumacher becomes available here in strictly limited numbers - just 200 RHD units will be coming to the UK - and in any colour you like so long as it's Ferrari red! The Stilo Schumacher will be offered here in two different configurations - standard and GP: Standard This 170bhp five cylinder three-door hatchback boasts a new, specially commissioned bodykit; exclusive kick plates and pedals; a powerful hi-fi sound system with steering wheel audio controls, CD, MP3 player and subwoofer; ABS anti-lock braking, ESP and traction control; dual zone climate control, Schumacher logos, and a special plaque numbered appropriately from UK001 to UK200. Stilo Schumacher GP Impressive though this factory specification is, Fiat Auto UK was keen to go a step further, so as to offer customers something even more special. Thus, a unique UK-based chassis development programme was undertaken to bring the car to the level of best in class. Carried out in conjunction with Prodrive, the globally acclaimed, high profile UK specialist automotive engineering concern, this intensive programme has led to the production of an aftermarket handling package known as the Stilo GP kit. The Prodrive developed GP kit, which is a UK fitment, consists of front and rear road springs manufactured by Eibach, Bilstein front struts and rear dampers, 7 x 18" OZ Superturismo alloy wheels, low profile 215/40 ZR18 Continental Contisport Contact 2 tyres, and a stainless steel rear silencer with twin outlet pipes. The kit has been created to produce a more sporty car, both in terms of looks and driver involvement, and is designed to appeal to customers seeking exclusivity in the 'hot hatch' market. A more sporty look has been achieved through lowering the Stilo to give a slight nose- down stance compared to the standard car, (approximately 25mm lower at the front, and 17mm at the rear), with uniform wheelarch clearances front and rear. The twin outlet stainless steel rear silencer visually highlights the more sporting nature of the car, and the restrained yet sporty exhaust note amplifies the attractive sound characteristics of Fiat Auto's twin overhead camshaft five cylinder 20V engine. click here for Fiat Stilo Schumacher GP photo gallery click here for Fiat Stilo Schumacher GP photo gallery New suspension settings were developed through extensive testing, both at Prodrive's private test facilities near Warwick, and on specific sections of public road including motorways, 'A' roads and challenging 'B' roads. The aim of the engineering developments was to enhance the sporty potential of the standard car for the more enthusiastic driver, without compromising its comfortable ride. Key to enhancing this sporty nature is to offer good steering response with informative feedback, and to inhibit the comparatively large body motions of roll and pitch, so the car feels 'tight' and well connected to the driver. It is the judicious combination of springs, dampers and tyres in the GP kit that achieves this aim. Increased spring rates help to reduce roll and pitch angles, allowing the vehicle to be cornered 'flatter', and thus giving the driver more confidence. The reduction in ride height, particularly at the front, lowers the centre of gravity slightly and also lowers the front roll centre. This inclines the vehicle's roll axis further, which gives the dual benefits of reducing steady state understeer and improving steering response. The bespoke new dampers were especially designed for the GP kit by Bilstein, and were then fine-tuned by Prodrive, on both road and track, to provide an enhanced sporty character. Front struts and rear dampers are a gas filled mono-tube design, which offers increased body control and greater fade resistance. The damper tune significantly increases body control, in roll, yaw and pitch, but maintains a significant level of compliance, so bumps and ridges on the road are well absorbed. This is particularly noticeable during motorway driving, where the level of comfort is very similar to the standard car. The change to 18" OZ Superturismo wheels and low profile Continental Contactsport 2 tyres has dramatically increased the grip level and improved steering response and feedback. This is attributable to a reduced sidewall height that has less distortion under load and keeps the contact patch flatter on the road. The Continental tyre structure and compound maintain a significant amount of vertical compliance, allowing a comfortable ride, but with increased lateral stiffness benefits. Overall, the Stilo Schumacher GP provides customers with the option of creating a more sporty looking and handling car, while retaining the standard vehicle's comfortable ride and secure handling, making this exclusive Stilo a real competitor in a performance arena currently dominated by the Ford Focus ST170 and Vauxhall Astra SRi Turbo. 16. 2nd time encounter you on the morning peak hours on KPE and then PIE toward Jurong. You cannot stand any vehicles overtaking your orange VAN. If they cut into your lane, you will swerve immediately to the left/right to overtake them back. No qalms about speeding unto road dividers/shoulders/lane 1 in order to do so. Constantly swerving from lanes to lanes without considering the safety of others. On the short journey exiting KPE to PIE jurong and before I exited shortly at Stevens Road, I have seen so many cars totally frustrated with your antics. Please note that I have personally reported this matter to the traffic authorities and I hope that they catch a personal glimpse of what a menace you are to other roadusers. Although I do not have recorder on board yet (but seriously considering to do so cos of hell drivers like your good self), I have pleased to note that your antics are also caught on video and loaded unto Youtube. I have provided the authorities with the links. Pls consider your actions carefully. Regards
  17. Fernando Alonso won ice races in both karts and Fiat 500s as Ferrari and Ducati's week-long Wrooom festivities came to an end at Italy's Madonna di Campiglio ski resort this evening. The ice racing event has become a traditional conclusion to Wrooom, and this year was a two-leg contest that started in karts. Alonso led a Ferrari Formula 1 team one-two ahead of Felipe Massa in this race, with Ducati's Nicky Hayden third. His new MotoGP team-mate Valentino Rossi was fifth, behind Ferrari protege Jules Bianchi, but ahead of the team's other test drivers Marc Gene and Giancarlo Fisichella. Alonso was unbeatable again when the field switched to the small Fiat saloons, as this time Ducati duo Hayden and Rossi completed the podium. The evening also saw outgoing Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer make his final appearance for the team by demonstrating a 2009 Ferrari F1 car on the frozen lake using studded tyres. source http://www.autosport.com/news/grapevine.php/id/88936
  18. "My Italian car can beat up your Italian car" is likely the next bumper sticker for one Italian man... after he gets out of jail. According to the Daily Mail, a 32-year old Ferrari 458 Italia driver is in trouble after coming down with a serious bout of road rage. A Fiat 600 would not get out of his way on the roads near Rome, so he did what any insane person would do, and decided to ram the hapless Fiat repeatedly. Once the Fiat pulled over, the unnamed Ferrari driver switched from car fighting to fist fighting and began pummeling the other driver. He wasn't alone, either, as a passenger in the Ferrari aided in the fisticuffs. A passing off-duty cop stopped to break things up and backup arrived to haul the two Ferrari fighters off to jail. After searching the car, police found over $30,000 in cash and are attempting to figure out where it came from. According to the report, neither man is a stranger to the police and they're both in custody for assault, criminal damage and resisting arrest. [source: Daily Mail]

  20. On November 29, 2010 the Fiat Group announced that it will complete the separation of its car manufacturing division and its truck and tractor division by the 1st of January 2011. The separation will enable both divisions to have a clear focus on their core businesses. The separation will create Fiat SpA, which will handle all car related matters and Fiat Industrial SpA, which will handle the Group's commercial vehicles, trucks, agricultural & construction equipment as well as some of the powertrain divisions within the Group. Each new group will have their own management team and its own board of directors. The separation also allows both Fiat SpA and Fiat Industrial SpA to be listed separately on the Milan Stock Exchange. Allowing for more shareholding to be traded and more investors too. The announcement previewed the new logos of the newly formed groups which basically replace the group logo (shown below). Maybe with this we'll see better Fiats, Lancias, Alfa Romeos and Chryslers (of which Fiat owns 20%) and maybe better Iveco trucks too.
