  1. http://www.xxxxxxx.com/articles/article.p...pageid=1&view=1 Tyres a little disappointing, but overall, not too bad lah! Hope you guys like the photos..I spent quite a while photoshopping them...
  2. Finally all this wait, will be collecting my new Suzuki Swift next Tuesday!! Can't wait to everywhere!
  3. Yes. I have reached the mystical 100k km mileage for the car. Didn't break down. 12 oil changes so far. Alive and ticking but the ABS fault light is on and I don't care. CNG installation will commence soon.
  4. Hope this would deter those a$$holes who switch on their foglamps, regardless of the weather [/size] Motorists risk fine, jail for misuse of fog lamps Do you reach for the fog lamp switch when you jump into your car, regardless of the weather? .If so, be careful. You could be risking a $1,000 fine or jail of up to three months. .Last year, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) issued warnings to 440 drivers for switching on their fog lamps unnecessarily. This is up from 251 in 2005. .Front fog lamps, which are located beneath the vehicle's headlamps, cast low beams of light that help the driver to make out the immediate foreground and lane markings in conditions of low visibility, heavy downpour or haze. .Rear fog lamps, on the other hand, give cars behind an indication of a vehicle's distance. .The LTA has warned that using fog lamps indiscriminately is an offence because its glare can cause discomfort to other road users. ."Front fog lamps will not enhance visibility in clear weather conditions. This is because the area illuminated by fog lamps covers a shorter distance compared to the light projected from vehicle headlamps," LTA spokesman Naleeza Ebrahim said. .Switching on rear fog lamps unnecessarily may also confuse the motorists who are driving behind as the intense red light may be mistaken for brake lights, she added. .Besides appropriate usage, motorists also seem unclear about the type of lamps they can install. .Last year, the LTA fined 167 motorists for fitting illegal fog lamps and spot lamps. Spot lamps, which are smaller, more-focused light beams fitted near the licence plate, are not allowed in Singapore. .Repeat offenders can be fined up to $2,000 or jailed for a maximum of six months. .Since 1994, when the annual haze from Indonesia caused reduced visibility, the LTA has allowed the installation of fog lamps on vehicles, provided they meet safety standards. .Fog lamps that are not approved should be covered at all times. .For more information on fog lamps, log on to www.lta.gov.sg Gracia Chiang [email protected]
  5. TOKYO (AP) - Japan's beleaguered Mitsubishi Motors Corp. reported its first quarterly profit since 2004 as the weaker yen lifted earnings in the October-December period. Japan's fourth-largest automaker, which has been fighting to regain consumer trust devastated by a recall scandal several years ago, had a net income of 4.3 billion yen (US$35.8 million; euro27.7 million) for the fiscal third quarter. A year ago, it lost 4.3 billion yen. Mitsubishi had reported a loss for every quarter since it began reporting quarterly earnings in 2004, said company official Fumio Nishizaki. The company has not reported an annual profit since the fiscal year that ran through March 2003. Quarterly sales inched up to 538.7 billion yen (US$4.48 billion; euro3.47 billion) from 538.3 billion yen a year earlier. The weak yen and increased sales of so-called built-up vehicles -- units built in one country and shipped to another in one piece for sale -- allowed Mitsubishi to log an increase in sales despite a decline in vehicles sold, the automaker said. The company also reported earnings for the nine-month April-December period, logging a net loss of 11.8 billion yen (US$98.2 million; euro75.98 million), an improvement over the 68.1 billion yen loss for the same period the previous year. Mitsubishi said it stood by its full-year forecasts of net profit of 8 billion yen (US$66.6 million; euro51.53 million) on 2.23 trillion yen (US$18.6 billion (euro14.39 billion) sales. The fiscal year runs through March. In 2000, Mitsubishi Motors admitted it had been covering up auto defects for more than two decades, and announced a string of recalls. In 2004, however, it revealed it had failed to divulge all its problems in 2000 and had more concealed defects. Mitsubishi Motors' sales had been lackluster even before those scandals, and had fallen behind powerful domestic rivals like Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. Mitsubishi suffered earlier scandals since the mid-1990s, including a sexual harassment lawsuit in the United States and arrests of executives on criminal charges in Japan for paying off racketeers tied to gangsters. http://news.moneycentral.msn.com/provider/...0206&ID=6441257
  6. While waiting for the Collinite 845 to come, I prepare the car yesterday afternoon first: 1) Wash with Meguair NXT car shampoo and claybar with Erazer claybar 2) AIO 3) Meguair #21 Did a quickie, all done in 2 hours. Both are great products, easy to use and no powder. Finally yesterday evening, finally lay my hand on the collinite #845 Very easy to apply, a little bit can cover a very large area, and spread quite easily except that it is quite transparent. Took me only 15mins. Waited about 15 to 20mins, the 845 dry to a hazy look. Wiping off is just like AIO, very easy and no powder. Fantastic product. Leave a warmer gloss with a greater depth than Meguair #21. The slickness is fantastic, buttery smooth, unlike synthetic sealant which give you just slick only. PS: All done with hand, no machine. All the above products are chosen for their ease of use and powder free when wiping off. Good reference for those who are like me with not much time on hand to do detailing yet want to maintain a decent gloss. Btw, pics is taken with SonyEricsson K800i. Now we wait for rain to see what this 845 can do
  7. Hi, I signed up for a grey Avante w/o sun roof. After weeks of sitting on the wall, I finally took the plunge. I hope I made a right choice! I did not ask for any free items, only a reverse sensor. My SE is a decent woman who got me $4K over paper value for my Cherovlet 1.4m standard car. I did not want to burdened her as I am taking a small loan only for a short duration of 4 yrs. About the fog lamp, where can I have this fixed? TIA
  8. Finally had the chance to take some photos of my "new" car. Traded in my Mazda Protege for a used Lexus IS200. Love the look, the color and most of all, the roar of the inline six engine. Yes, it could go with more horsepower but I love the rear-wheel drive and fantastic handling. Also check out my OP sticker on my rear windscreen if you're into watches. It's a Panerai logo.
  9. Please take note that this is my opinion, need not agree or disagree.... 10. Alfa to build a Mini fighter New entry-premium model is crucial to Italian carmaker's aim to reach financial breakeven TURIN -
  11. Will you even consider buying this supermini given its relatively high price with these specs? Mitsubishi i Engine: 659 cc inline-3 turbocharged Gearbox: 4-speed automatic transmission Max power: 64 hp @ 6,000 rpm Max torque: 94 Nm @ 3,000 rpm Top speed: 180 kmh Estimated price: from $55,000 (with COE) Distributor: Cycle & Carriage, Tel 6473-9722 Quoted from C&C General Manager Mr Ang: 'Buyers are getting younger and more sophisticated and we cannot position the i as a cheap K-car.' Sounds like a lame excuse to mark up the price of such a small car.

  15. After several months of torture to my ears, I decided to invest some precious time to DIY remove a clinking noise in my ride. The noise was very intermittent. It can appear in the morning but silent in the afternoon. It can then disappeared for a couple of weeks before re-emerging...louder than ever. The noise is kind of metallic but hitting on glass...like a windscreen. For the last 2 weeks, the noise finally decided to become permanent...and I saw this as an opportunity to kill it once and for all. Here's what I did Remove the rear seats [inline Image036.jpg] [inline Image038.jpg] The plastic covers on the rear pillars [inline Image039.jpg] The seats and pillar covers [inline Image034.jpg]
  16. For those who knows what I was waiting for.....no, its not the Koni FSD that I've been waiting for months Will give everyone a review of the new shock once I have it....if it arrives Actually, I just received the long awaited Haynes' Owner Workshop Manual for the Skoda Octavia. Haven't read it myself, so don't know how useful it is. But if anyone wants to have a read, give me a buzz Cheers!
  17. The Audi TT is finally unveiled. All assumptions on how it looks are either confirmed or debunked! This is what the world will get its hands on come 2007. The new Audi TT! Please note that these are neither concept shots nor photoshopped images. These are official pictures. So this is the real thing. Now for my opinion. I think it's such a letdown, especially after all the hype and teasing. I don't know whether you guys can recall, but i remember being weak in the knees and falling in love the with Audi TT TEN years ago when it first came out. It was such a shocker, a trendsetter. Now, the 2007 Audi TT just didn't live up to its predecessor. Yes, it's nice of course. But don't you think Audi (or VW for that matter) just merely facelifted the car? I mean, they just didn't have the balls to create another trendsetter. It seems that they're too intoxicated by the success of the original TT formula that they're just ran outta fuel. The rear looks nice, but it's a facelift of the previous TT's rear. The front looks nice, but it just blends with the rest of the audi range (taking cues from the nuvolari concept). Yes the new Audi TT looks nice, but it just doesnt excite me. I think many of you feel the same as i do. What a letdown. Oh yea, somehow the headlamps remind me of the new ford focus'. Anyone think so too? Sigh. Sigh. Sigh. Can't imagine they took ten years and came up with something so conservative. My wife calls it a "cowardly attempt at remaking a legend". She still loves the original TT.
  18. Also didnt know that SKoda is in US now... Or are these created by Skoda fans?
  19. Finally... after months of trying... Changing wipers... Using cheapo blue wiper fluid but to no avail... But due to a stupid, idiotic, nasty flying stone , I was forced to change my windscreen... And the moment I collected my car, I tried my wipers and.... Hey presto! Smooth as silk! Not even a single bit of juddering.... Well, that's som form of consolation for myself...
  20. Mitsubishi Motors erases operating loss Thu Feb 9, 2006 1:34 PM GMT163 By Chang-Ran Kim, Asia auto correspondent TOKYO (Reuters) - Mitsubishi Motors Corp.'s operations turned profitable for the first time in 11 quarters, thanks to cost cuts and a softer yen, the company said on Thursday, although sales disappointed in the crucial U.S. and Chinese markets. MMC, which came under the consolidated accounts of sister company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in December, said October-December operating profit totalled 1.62 billion yen (7.8 million pounds) versus a loss of 9.97 billion yen a year earlier, putting it within reach of its unchanged full-year forecasts. At the net level, it posted a loss of 4.35 billion yen in the third quarter, narrowing the loss from 49.44 billion yen. For the full year to March 31, Japan's only unprofitable car maker kept its projection for a net loss of 64 billion yen and an operating loss of 14 billion yen but said it hoped to do better, fuelled by sales of newly launched vehicles. "We're expecting to boost revenue quite a bit in the (current) fourth quarter and translate that into profits," said Hiizu Ichikawa, managing director in charge of finances at MMC. "The latest results put us well within range of our full-year forecasts," he told reporters. "We want to exceed those numbers as much as possible." Global retail sales during the three months grew 6.9 percent to 326,000 units thanks to solid growth in Europe, Japan, the Middle East and Latin America. But a mere 2.6 percent rise in U.S. sales from rock-bottom levels a year earlier dealt a blow to revenue, which fell 1.6 percent to 538.35 billion yen during the three months. The end of a deal to supply vehicles for former shareholder DaimlerChrysler's Chrysler brand also hit revenues, MMC said. "High gasoline prices and a shift in market preferences had an impact, and sales (in the United States) were slower to recover than we had anticipated," Ichikawa said. Last year, MMC launched the Eclipse sports coupe and Raider pickup truck as many consumers shifted to more fuel-efficient vehicles such as small sedans and crossovers. A healthy North American operation -- a cash cow for most of its domestic competitors -- is crucial for MMC to nurse its overall business back to health, and executives are counting on more new products, including the Outlander SUV, to drive U.S. sales up in 2006. MMC also counts China and Taiwan among its most strategically important markets. But combined sales there fell about 20,000 units short of expectations in the business year to date, Ichikawa said.
  21. Finally to take these two days to get rid of those irritating swirlmarks from JB car-wash ... and scratches from aboslutely no idea where. Possibly plants. Not the full job but personally satisfied. Some before and after pics. Ed
  22. I used to try starting up a Daewoo forum club but seems than nobody even bothers. I think it's actually the brand name Daewoo that "stops" people from loving the car here. Ever since the change of name to Chevrolet, I am surprise that there is so called a "fan club" here. I am driving a super RARE Daewoo Nexia(A) and looking for someone who drives one too. I think only 5 or 6 running on our road now. I have urge my dad to buy the Chevrolet Optra and didn't think he will buy as he is quite "Japanese" but he bought it in January when he saw the car in the showroom as it is simply huge and a beauty... didn't even bother to test drive. I intend to buy a Black Optra after my nexia scrap in 1yr++ time but my dad driving a Red Optra and sounds silly to buy the same car as my dad. Actually, I know this car is gonna replace the Nubira since early last year and have been keeping track of it till it reach here. Vivant is only available as a manual for the 1.6 and will be "old" by the time I want to buy. Aveo is a little too small as i want a 1.6. Lumina is real cool but too big as it's a 3.8. I think i will buy the Lumina (Holden Commodore/Opel Omega) if I strike toto or 4D, I am impress by the chunky doors and the cup holder, not to mention it's a rear wheel drive. So... the Chevy people here meet up regularly? I think i will have to drive my dad's car to meet up as I own a Daewoo.
  23. Saw the New Mazda 6 today It is indeed very nice and well equiped! Exterior not much changes other than the headlamps, rear lamps, bumper and slightly raised bonnet. The headlamp spot a dark face plate instead of shinny silver. Rear metallic face brake lamp is also darkened. And the best part is the Twin Exhaust! The Interior is the one that springs surprises. It comes with full black interior, including centre panel. New Auto Aircon, new front load 6 Disc player, new bezel rim speed/rev meter, better supportive seats and new door panel. Best part: Steering Wheel audio control and Cruise Control(the only one in its class right now) [thumbsup] I found out the price is $79888.
  24. The finally built a group A car with the 147!!! This thing has 210bhp... at 1075kg!!! http://www.italiaspeed.com/2005/motorsport.../alfa/2607.html
  25. Mine is Optra A. Mileage is about 6K+ and still on mineral oil and stock. Last FC was at 13km/l that's 600km of travel on full tank. Still monitoring again but I have change to a different petrol to see the effect. Updates on the way.
