  1. Hi, Thinking of buying a resale 3rm flat near Parents. (around 230k) Reason for buying: - getting married next year. - the cheaper price compared to a bigger unit will give me more cash on hand, which i can use for renovation, wedding, etc. - near parents. - option of selling the 3rm flat after few years if property prices drop. (most prob will not be taking any grants from hdb, so i do not need to wait for years before i can sell) Anything I should take note of before i commit to the purchase? First time buying a flat so need advise from the more experienced :) Thanks!!

  3. Hi guys, got my new flat a couple of days ago. Thinking of installing air-con in all 3 bedrooms and living room. Tough choice choosing between invertor and 'normal'air-con'. Am well aware that invertor saves quite abit on the bills. However got feedback from friend that if i go not turn on the air-con regularly, not much difference. My household only wifey and me... most likely on master bedroom air-com at night only. Day time not a single soul around. So based on you guys' experience... invertor or non-invertor? Advice is much appreciated! cheers!

  10. M'sian PM's car stalls with flat tyre on way to airport Thu, Nov 22, 2007 AP (Associated Press) THE Malaysian prime minister's car stalled on the highway with a flat tyre while on way to the airport after an annual Asian summit, forcing him to get into a security escort car to continue his journey, an official said. The incident happened on Wednesday, just a few kilometres before the international airport in Singapore from where Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi caught a flight back home, the official said on Thursday. The BMW sedan carrying Mr Abdullah and his wife, Jeanne, was forced to pull up on the side of the highway because of the flat tyre. There was no backup limousine and Mr Abdullah and his wife had to get into a bodyguards' car, said the official, speaking on customary condition of anonymity. The prime minister reached the airport and there was no delay in his flight, he said, though the Malaysian foreign ministry was slightly peeved.

  13. Hi folks, wld anyone be able to give me an idea, what rental can I be asking for for a 4 room HDB flat along Farrer, block 6 . Currently I'm renting it out for SGD1,300.00 whole unit, with all 3 bed-room air-con, fully move-in condition. Two different agents quoted me very different amount. The current tenant very keen to continue but are in a hurry to wrap things up as they are going on holiday very soon and wld like to do this before their holidays. Thanks
  14. I intend to do one minor mod.. a shoe rack (grille type) which i wish to drill to the wall beside my front gate. Outside the flat. However, I am not sure if that is allowed. Is it an offence? cos it's like 4 holes which i could patch up in about 5 mins when i sell my house (not anytime soon anyway...) my corridor is the super wide type, so there will be no inconvenience to neighbours. my reason for drilling it to the wall is so that it can be off the floor and looks neater. also, prevent people from carting it off. I don't quite dig the plastic types, which i will have to buy new anyway and might be stolen by some low-life
  15. Originally, I was thinking of paying minumum down, take maximum HDB loan for a HDB flat and use the rest of the CPF to invest to built my CPF $, but this will result in having to fork out lots of cash later on to pay for HDB installment as there is a limit to using CPF for HDB payment. My "finacial advisors" also tell me to do this (I guess partly because they get commission from my CPF investment). But with the recent highhanded changes to CPF policies, and fear that more changes are to come in future, and I may not live to see most of my CPF $, I am now reconsidering my plan. It seems now that CPF $ is like not our own $ like that might as well spend it all while I can, and save more cash on hand is best. So I am now reconsidering if I should use one shot all my CPF for the flat downpayment and take minimum HDB loan, so that I do not need to use much cash to pay for HDB installment in later years. Is this thinking wrong? Pls offer your view, even if you do not agree with mine, Thanks.

  19. Hi my carpark is directly below my hdb flat which is a low-rise 4storey building. Can i pull the hose from my house from the 3rd floor via kitchen window to top up my bucket below to wash my car? Is it illegal to extend hose from ur hse for any other purpose too?
  20. Damn siow...recently had accident. Then after repair, my battery die flat. Need to change and cost me S$120 (exclude S$20 for NTUC workshop people to jump start). BTW, quite difficult to find Skoda battery as our seem to be a high amp type. Spec is 65 amp. Most battery usually come in 55 amp. So Skoda owner check your battery. Call Czech Auto for help but once they heard is a 1 year old car they sian liow...(becoz not buy from them.) Ask me to tow car to them and never offer any other assistance. BTW, I also encounter the POWER STEERING WARNING light. Intermitten, any owner face similar problem?
