  4. Dear brothers and sisters of MCF, This morning I experienced "groaning" sound coming from the front when I was braking from speed ranging from 30-50km/h. I didn't drive my car after last Sunday when I drove through a mini flood till today morning. My steering doesn't feel any jerk while braking but the sound sounds pretty scary, I haven't tried high speed braking yet though. So I was hoping to hear some advice from you guys. Should I go to a workshop to do a check? If yes, do you have any reliable and recommended workshop to do a quick check? (preferably not too far from the east) Thank you so much in advance! Regards, Tsr729
  5. [extract] About 2 years ago, PUB mentioned that a serious flood in Orchard Road that happened on 19 Nov 2009 occurs once every 50 years. 2 years on, it appeared that the assumption is not true and this year
  6. I believe many of us aware of the above-mentioned article in the press. I believe if we pump the flood water into Singapore River and it flows back to Orchard Road, it would resembles the flood in Thailand on a smaller scale. It is puzzling why busy spending the money achieving nothing, except spend the budget happily? Are we appointing residents from the IHM for our Experts? Let us hope the 60%+ can share with us your logic from your A-team.
  7. The flood in bkk is out of this world.not even the repercussion of the 2004 tsunami had such a big flood.

  9. It's official. The confusing term "1-in-50-Year-Flood" will be replaced by the more appropriate term "1-in-50-Day-Flood" WEF 04 May 2011. All future drainage systems will be designed accordingly & the standard size will be 100m wide & 100m deep. All citizens will be paying a drainage tax of 10 % on top of their GST of 7% as this is justified to build these expensive drains & that we will enjoy no more floodings henceforth. This is also to save the government trouble from having to say the S-word to the citizens every time flooding occurs.

  13. A 15-year-old Indonesian boy is dead after he fell into a flooded drain and was swept away during Wednesday's heavy downpour. The dead body of the boy, identified only as William, was found by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) rescuers in the canal next to Block 82, Whampoa Drive, reported Channel NewsAsia. He had been reported missing for several hours after his friends saw him fall into a flooded drain near Balestier Road during a heavy thunderstorm. The teen, who was here on holiday, was with two other friends when the incident happened. His friends described how William was wading through shin-deep waters at 2:30pm when he fell into the drain.Although the drain is guarded by a railing, William is believed to have fallen into the 1.2-metre drain after stepping through the railing. His friend said they tried to rescue him but he was then swept away by onrushing water at the intersection of Mindu Road and Mandalay Road. Link

  18. http://news.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne%2BNew...908-236204.html Singapore's central business district, Shenton Way, was flooded this morning after a heavy downpour, according to a STOMP report. A reader CannotBeLikeThatOneWhat told STOMP he saw the flooding outside SGX Centre. He wrote in an email to the citizen journalism website: "I could not believe my eyes when I saw that Shenton Way was under water this morning outside SGX. "Could it have been caused by the new construction work next to Shenton House?" The National Environment Agency had warned of heavy rain on Wednesday, with heavy showers and thunder expected between 10.15am and midday. PUB says flash floods may occur in low-lying areas in the event of heavy rain. "The public is advised to exercise caution and look out for flash floods," the NEA said earlier on its website. There have been eye-witness accounts of other areas of Singapore being affected by heavy rain. STOMP reader Jin Jialat said there was high levels of water at North Bridge Road this morning. The heavy rain turned the staircase at his house into a "waterfall". "Super heavy downpour at North Bridge Road. I have been living here for over 20 years but this is the first time I see such flooding along my housing staircase." The Novena Square area also experienced heavy rainfall, AsiaOne reader Yeoh Wee Teck told AsiaOne.

  21. Everything's fine before that faithful day, the heavy-rain-flood-most-places day... Went home driving my kim chi Cerato in the rain and reached my place, heavy downpour flooding o Circuit Road area, drove thru the huge puddles of water, did not on air con at all, end of part 1... on air con after that day and realise that air con aint blowing cold air leh when i turn the knob to 1, and cant really hear that sound (dunno how to describe but most or all cars have when u station your car and air con on, something like a 'tuck' sound, once a while like something kicking-in and the fan suddenly like go faster at a higher speed, thermostat is it? aint sure) and therefore i went to Tomika Ubi. Attended to me by a moustache skinny guy and he say nothing wrong, topped up gas and left, monitor lor since he say ok, end of part 2... yesterday drove home after 2 days from Tomika, at night on air con and drove, for a while cold then after maybe 10 mins of driving suddenly no more cold air again, blowing normal temp air and as i turned right there was this sound from the central air con vent, like flowing water sound, similar to u holding a half filled mineral water bottle and turning it upside down side ways, sloshing sound-liked. Then i turned up to 2 and drove while and turned to 1 again, reached my place and suddenly cold again, sheesh!!! gurus and experts here, what could be the problem? any idea? fuse? air con filter? magenetic air con clutch? compressor?
  22. As title mentioned... now thunder and lightning at east side. Pls update if anywhere going to flood soon. Cheers Orac
