  1. With this new rule, will there be no more "diploma" from Uptron ACL or "degree" from Manav Bharti University? A good move by MOM nevertheless. Employers will have to submit third-party verification proof for applicants with diploma-level qualifications and above Source: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/employment-pass-foreign-workers-verify-education-qualifications-tan-see-leng-3312921 SINGAPORE: Companies that want to hire foreigners on an Employment Pass (EP) from Sep 1 will have to ensure their educational qualifications are authentic. Employers will have to submit third-party verification proof for applicants with diploma-level qualifications and above, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said. "Today, employers are already responsible for ensuring the authenticity of their candidate’s qualifications before hiring," Manpower Minister Tan See Leng said in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 1). Mandatory verification will "safeguard against gaming by submitting fraudulent educational qualifications", he said during his ministry’s Committee of Supply debate. Last October, a man was sentenced to seven weeks' jail after making false statements in his declaration for an EP. His EP was approved based on the false statements that were made in February 2019. In 2021, MOM investigated 23 foreigners who had declared qualifications from Manav Bharti University in India. Two people were jailed for submitting false qualifications in their work pass applications, while 19 were permanently barred from working in Singapore. The probe in Singapore began after MOM was alerted that India's government was investigating the university for selling fake degrees. The verification requirement will be enforced through the Complementarity Assessment Framework (COMPASS), which was announced last year and takes effect in September for new applications. For EP renewal applications, the requirement comes into effect in September 2024.

We all know Charles Darwin so I'm not going to explain his theory of natural selection. Nevertheless, I created this thread because it's pretty amazing we're 1 year plus into the pandemic and there are businesses/individuals that still refuses to evolve. They continue to think the world will return to normal and rely on government aid (tax payers money) or cheap labor (maximize margin) to drive their organizations (plus complain a lot). Do you think they are worth saving?
  3. I post this coz the link in the other thread doesn't seem to work properly. Hence i post the full story here http://youtu.be/TZA-SB3NA94 We still have some good FW in our midst. This one in video, can pass our SOC easily............ https://sg.news.yahoo.com/blogs/what-is-buzzing/hero--unidentified-foreign-worker-saves-baby-in-singapore-001017679.html A video of an unknown male foreign worker saving a baby in Singapore has surfaced on local website Alvinology. In the video taken Thursday, a bawling baby has its head stuck between the rails of a balcony window, with its body hanging off the ledge. The foreign worker then came into scene in the video and climbed up the wall to the ledge and got to the baby. As the baby’s head was stuck, he lifted the baby so that the weight on its head was lessened. A second foreign worker then climbed up the ledge as well to help. Lifestyle blogger Alvin Lim, editor of the website that posted the video on Friday, said it was taken by a friend at the scene. Lim has asked for help in identifying this life-saving foreign worker. According to the blogger, witnesses say that a woman was the first to notice the baby and was the one who asked for help. It appeared that no one was home at that time. The incident occurred on 23 April afternoon at Jurong East Ave 1, and initially, two other men tried to climb up the ledge but were not strong enough. The commotion went on until the foreign worker appeared. According to witnesses, he was one of three foreign workers working on road repairs nearby, said Lim. He added that the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) arrived on scene five minutes later and managed to free the baby.

    Germany

[extract] Like Singapore, the Germany auto industry is facing a shortage of talents. According to the German engineering association VDI, the shortage of available engineers in the country last month hit an all-time high of nearly 77,000 vacancies. And this might prove to be a problem for companies like BMW, which aims to hire 800 people at its Leipzig as part of the
