The third generation Subaru Forester has been around for several years now and it is time for a new model. That model received numerous changes especially in terms of size. It is bigger in terms of dimensions and it looks more bulky compared to its predecessor. The new Forester now sits on a longer wheelbase and it is slightly longer, wider and taller. Although it may be bigger in dimensions but the new model still retains the overall look of the third generation model. Subaru has finally unveiled the fourth generation Forester, ahead of its debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. The new model will be available with two types of engine options. Firstly, the naturally aspirated model (second image from top) comes with a 2.5-litre four cylinder Boxer engine. This engine makes around 170bhp and 235Nm of torque. The turbocharged variant (top most image) comes fitted with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four cylinder Boxer engine which churns out around 250bhp and 350Nm of torque. The naturally aspirated model is fitted with either a six speed manual transmission or a Lineartronic CVT. [extract] Great news for Subaru car lovers in Malaysia. Based on the latest progress, Tan Chong Group has confirmed to assemble Subaru vehicles in Malaysia under a MoU with Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd and the production will start in October 2012. Today, Fuji Heavy Industries said that the MoU was for a consignment production contract with TC Subaru Sdn. Bhd which currently distributor of Subaru vehicles in Malaysia.

I wonder if any MCFers driving the current generation Forester can tell me what their FC in real-world driving conditions is like. Is it significantly worse than a 2WD SUV such as a Kia Sportage? Thanks.

I notice that there is 2 models of Forester in sgcarmart for sale. 2.0XT, 2.5T & 2.5XT. Between these 3 models, what are the main difference. 2.0XT last models in 2005 2.5T as early as 2005~2007 2.5XT 2008 onwards. Is the 2.5T as good as 2.5XT?

This is the second tS model after the Legacy tS which Subaru debuted last June. Hi all, just need everyone's opinion on the above 2 rides. Thought of getting either an end 05 airtrek turbo for around low 40k or a mid 06 forester 2.5 turbo for around low 50k. Things to consider would be engine response, torque, internal space, maintenance & overall ride dynamics. Any kind soul has any input on the above 2 cars? Thks

Thursday, April 10, 2008 Subaru Halts Sales Of WRX, Legacy And Forester Due To Engine Issues If you were planning on buying a new Subaru WRX, or any other Subaru using the EJ25 for that matter, you might want to hold off on your purchase for a while... The automaker has received a low number of complaints regarding big-end bearing failure on a small number of brand-new WRX's and has directed dealers to halt all sales until the cause is pinpointed and a remedy, if necessary, is found. The problem only affects turbocharged models using the EJ25, which means that all brand-new Forester XTs, Impreza WRXs and WRX STIs, and Liberty/Legacy GTs built since early January will be affected by the hold up. Given the low number of actual bearing failures (less than 10), some might see the sales stoppage as an extreme reaction by Subaru. We're glad they're playing it safe and doing the right thing by the customer, and although they're shooting themselves in the foot sales-wise it's a move that should hopefully increase buyer confidence in the brand for the long-term. -
I read that it will be released her next month. I find the design attractive. Subaru cars always look ugly to me. I have never driven a Subaru before but since it is made in japan, is the quality good? What about fuel consumption? Any idea how much will the new forester be selling? Did this forester last weekend, when it came, it seems to have a layer of "haze" on its paintwork. After the usual inspection, i proceeded to do the normal wash and clay. However, this were not as "smooth" as i expected. The paintwork was very grabby, in the sense that the claybar seems to get stuck everywhere, even with the increase in shampoo concentration, it did not help much. In the end, i decided not to waste too much time here and move the car away from the washing bay to my usual detailing spot which is much brighter. Once i shined the halogen on the car, i got a shock. The watermarks i saw initially on the bonnet and roof had not been washed off at all. (Just to clarify, this is not the usual watermarks that had been etched into the paintwork, rather, they are the marks left behind by the rain water mixed with a layer of dust. Or so i though ) Defect 01 Defect 02 For this prob, i decided to try lake country's purple wool foam pad with IP using rotary and the results turned out well. Infact, it looks almost LSP ready except for some very light marrings here n there. Defect 01 after Defect 02 after This step was followed up with using the DA and orange LC pad with PO106FF and the restoration was done. This car however, required up to 3 wool pads and 3 orange pads to restore, quite a bit of washing to be done

Hi to the black forester,S**245** at Liang Court carpark at abt 11pm, Sat 29, 2007. Wondering if it was you who keep blowing your loud exhaust, shd be a fujitsubo if I am nt wrong, from 4th level carpark all the way to the exit. Well, 2 or 3 wedding dinner just ended and its normal to have a small jam at mscp. If its really you, juz wanna ask if there's sumthing wrong with your car? Acclerator got stuck? Hope you din run out of petrol by the time you reach main road. Or leg cramp? If its not you, sorry, I redirect this to the guy who blow non stop.
