Chinese Language education centre Xin Zhong Wen (新中文) has teamed up with McDonald’s to launch a new initiative to encourage practical learning of Chinese for children. The initiative, named Project 开心点(Kāi Xīn Diǎn, be happier in English), will offer free Happy Meals to kids under 12 who place their orders in Mandarin. The promotion will be available from Feb. 16 to Feb. 17, at four McDonald’s outlets — NEX, JEM, Great World City, United Square. 1000 Happy Meals will be given out, per day, at each outlet. No catch. Matchy’s post has been shared over 3,000 times. The entire exchange was originally uploaded on Reddit by Reddit user u/pretent_its_witty, who claims to be a swimming instructor from Southern India. The original post on the subreddit, Choosing Beggars, has garnered 100,000 upvotes. The conversation captured in the WhatsApp screenshot posted took place purportedly between a swimming instructor (not a professional one mind you, just someone who does it for free on days that she is swimming as well) and an aunty, who as you will see later, claims to be a single mother, and seems strangely insistent that her son gets to swim “today”. I was at Expo last Wednesday (6/1) and left at 6:20pm. This Camry (attached) tailgate my back at the exit gantry and gotten his free parking. To test if the parking mgt really chap about these act, I wrote to the Expo mgt. Below is the extract of their repy: Thank you for sending us the details of the tailgating incident at Singapore Expo. We regret that we are unable to pursue this with the errant driver as our system needs his IU number to check if he had paid or not paid carpark charges. It is also not in our jurisdiction to pursue charges against this deliberate act. Anyone here drives an auto car and shift to free gear when going down slope or cruise to a stop before reaching a traffic light? I tried doing that for one full tank and realised it actually save a fair bit of fuel. But that will also increase in ware n tear of the gears? Do u agree to such driving habit?

Hi MCFers and frequent travellers, Want to ask if the duty-free liquor and beer at Changi Airport is really the cheapest and best-est as often claimed by DFS itself (of course) and many Singaporeans who only buy from there when they return from overseas? I have always been under that impression and thus NEVER EVER look at duty-free shops at overseas airports but quai quai (dutifully) wait till I have landed at Changi to duly file into DFS Changi to buy my quota. Don't travel frequently so blur in this area. Any frequent MCF-travellers can shed insights? Or have I been snooked by DFS for the longest time ever?
