  1. Hi, a friend is looking for a brand new Toyota Sienta. I'm helping him find out the reliability of this car. Anywhere to get reviews about this car? Is there a Sienta club here in SG? Any reliable PI to recommend are welcomed. Thanks!
  2. Hi bros Im visiting a friend's place who has been very very helpful and whom im very grateful to. what should i bring when visiting?
  3. Now that it is almost time for this car to head to the big carpark in the sky, (transmission broke, and no point fixing cos COE ending in august) i think it'll be nice to do a gallery on her journey ever since we bought the car back in 2005. When we first got the car, it was Glacierbleu. A little 1.6 engine but all mostly stock with a little dent on the lower lip. It was a clean motor with it's original Blaupunkt stereo still intact With this little E30, i made many many friends along the way... and had many good memories. The little 1.6 made many trips up and down malaysia as well. Managing to bypass roadblocks and greedy policeman along the way since it prob. looked too old to have anyone inside worth taking $$$ from. One of my first BMW-SG meetups. Also with this little E30, it began my foray into the crazy World of aftermarket BMW tuning. Bilstein shocks coupled with Eibach springs went in first Followed by Deep-Step-Dish wheels for that tuned retro-stance A deeper front lip and sideskirts were added in to complete the look A picture with some of the older BMWs, sadly quite a few of them have crossed over A "deutsche" badge was stuck onto the front for the heck of it And an Alpina wheel sourced from Ebay was shipped over When i had the time, i'd clean the engine after washing the car I had a pro-photog friend take a shot of the car too, this pic even went up on Speedhunters Malacca KL Soon after, a shunt on the car got me sending it for a respray into it's current look With this car, i made many journeys and with this car, i was able to make alot of friends, REGARDLESS of status, showing that the most important aspect of being a car person, is just pure enthusiasm and a genuine love for cars. And so, with a heavy heart, it's time to say goodbye. After 19 years, it's time to rest.
  4. Always interesting to know if we, or rather most if us, in MCF online are all civil towards each other & having healthy discussions, exchange of ideas, debates, seeking advices or simply TCSS when on the roads maybe at the throats of each other, the same folks in the forum. The guy you high-beamed,"gestured wildy with your middle digit" or even coming into blows with after he cut into your lane suddenly without signalling could be the same guy whom you are so thankful that you want to marry your precious daughter to for solving a nagging car problem that has been troubling you for the longest time... That is really interesting
  5. It's a story of a Dolphin & a Dog ........ Enjoy the beautiful music and watch the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4WEkEAV1os

  7. I have a friend who think he is a wonderful driver but get into accidents constantly. In the last year, he had 3 unreported accidents and 1 reported accident AS FAR AS I AM AWARE. His insurance company is refusing to insure him and his insurance agent is encouraging him to sell the car, buy another and get someone else to buy the insurance... I am assured that any accident claim on the car will not affect mine. Any experienced person can tell me if that is true. That if he claim on the next car with insurance under my name... my insurance renewals on my current car will not be affected in any way? And is there any legal consequences as well?
  8. And he is looking for a red convertible. Anyone got kangtao? Please share share if you have, thanks! Edit : he needs the red chop top as his wedding car.
  9. if you're a relative or friend of the auntie driver, please kindly caution her against the frequent flashing of the high beam! Today along ECP towards airport, just after fort road, auntie drives up behind me on lane 2 and starts flashing. Lane 1 was empty and I thought it was my friend. After a few more flashes, I got fed up and tapped on my brakes. Panics, she cuts left into lane 3 right behind a lorry and starts flashing him!! All this while, I thought it was an impatient Beng. Didn't bother to slow down to look. But same driver drives up to parkway parade carpark and starts doing the same to every car, van and person taking a tad too slow too move! That's when I realised it was an old auntie behind the wheel. Please...if you're her friend or relative...do tell her to stop that else someone less friendly may decide to run her down....
  10. A while ago, for those of you who remember, I wrote about my friend M, regarded politely by his peers as a car and speed fanatic and by the general populace as a demented menace when encountered on the road. The last time I saw M, he was still messing with his R34 GTR, and wondering how best to spend the few remaining points left for his driving license. I left for Europe then, and just recently returned. I called M up 2 days back, just to see check what kinds of antics he have been up to, and privately wondering to myself if he would even be a survivor of his own wild ways). M picked up the phone after a few rings, and before I could even finish saying hello, he was gushing all over with "oh the prodigal son returns from the dead!" and "look, you gotta check out my neeew ride" (again?) and "shall we meet for lunch?". I barely managed to just utter a single Yes before he continued and gave me the location and time, before declaring grandly that he had a supplier meeting to attend, and then hanging up. That's M for you, to the letter. At the appointed time, I was already at the venue of the rendezvous, sipping on a decaf. The venue, I noticed wryly, would be a perfect place for my flashy friend to show up with his car pulled up right to the entrance, and the only reason he would stop there and alight, based on previous experiences during outings with him, is that the waitresses would not be very inclined and amused to find a (insert current ride make and model here) parked among their tables and chairs, with M yelling out his orders from the driver seat of the said vehicle. M always did have a penchant to make strangers around him sit up and notice (and mostly the noticing were accompanied by either sighs and shakings of heads or muttered curses about delinquents of the gen Y variant), not that M would ever be bothered by such shows of disapprovals. Amidst my musings on the exploits of M, the distinctive sound of a V8 engine broke my mental montage and I turned. The first thing that caught my eye was not exactly the car which emitted the purposeful growl, but the motif running along the bonnet of the car. Now, I have seen exotics rolling around with racing stripes of various colors, and most look fine. M's car certainly qualified as an exotic, but the motif.. The second thing I noticed, after getting over the amusement of the motif on the bonnet, was the grinning face of M. He still looked slightly maniacal, a man whom any lady would hesitate to bring home to her mother, even if the mother happened to be blind and deaf and just struck lottery on that particular day. M was grinning triumphantly behind the wheels of the black ferrari F430 spyder, soaking in all the attention as about thirty pairs of curious eyes turned to see. With one arm rested on the driver door, the other draped casually over the steering wheel, and a pair of Gucci sunglasses pushed up over his head, I must admit that he looked resplendently stylish behind his latest toy. As expected, he pulled right up to the cafe entrance, and I think he got out of his car only when he remembered that there was no parking valet coming to attend to him. M got out, turned to wave at me like how the PAP election candidates would do so to the peasants they would usually ignore the other 364 days, and started his usual "Not a care, not a damn" saunter toward our table. The whispers among the other patrons at the cafe started, and overheard among the subdued acute cacophony was "must be father's car, lah" and "bloody haolian" I had to grin, could not help it. M was grinning himself, as he approached the table. He gave me a bear of a hug when I stood to greet him, and asked me, rather too loudly, if I have been snorting coke and screwing the blond chicks. I could actually feel the stares of disapproval transfer from M to me, and I laughed to cover the embarrassment. We sat down, and started chatting. M told me that his R34 was sold due to parental disapproval, and that he managed to get a good deal for his new baby. He was sharing with me about his heroic exploits on the road, his brushes with the traffic police, (and how he always managed to thwart their evil ways), and as usual, punctuating his descriptions of the various encounters about the wonders of the V8 engine blah blah blah. Apparently, he did not seem to worry about the supposed catch up session degrading into a monologue which even an SOS councillor would find boring eventually. M is one of those rare breeds who could entertain themselves pretty well. All they needed was the occasional nod, the occasional indication that you are still awake, and your occasional breathing to assure him that you are still alive. "..good sex?". "pardon?" I said a bit guiltily as my mind was brought back to the conversation from the two words I heard while my mind was cartwheeling in limbo 6 light years away. A look of puzzled impatience crossed the sculpted countenance of M as he repeated "I asked if you believe that driving a ferrari around is like good sex?" As I looked at him, he mumbled a little defensively "I read that somewhere" I told him that I generally could separate driving and sex very well, and between driving a ferrari and having good sex, I would choose the latter, but to each his own. He asked what I'm rolling around in these days, and I told him. He exclaimed that we could exchange cars one day, and I told him, sure, why not. Suddenly, M again somehow managed to remember to get into his routine of trying to explain to me the aural sensations of the V8 engine when mated to a titanium exhaust, and this time, my mind managed to turn cartwheels uninterrupted in Nirvana during the entire lecture. It was the ringing of his cell phone that broke my reverie this time. "Got to go, dad's calling, its nice to see you ol' buddy and don't forget to tell me about what you've been up to all these while!" M stood up to leave. I tensed, waiting for the regurgitation of Cocaine and blond sex jokes. Thankfully, his parting shot about 20m away from the tabe was a relatively safe "I'll be at your place this saturday to pick up the (my car make)!" The weight of disapproving eyes shifted heavily to me again, as I pretended to sip my nearly empty cup of coffee. I sat and waited for the waves of disapproval to wash over, while I wondered about the virtues of the V8 engine.
