  1. A friend of mine due to some reasons have loss a hefty sum from properties in the past. The properties were forced sell hence resulting in hardship . He managed to get by for years by getting credit lines and credit cards to pay for the loss, he has since reduced the debt to about 200K. Whatever he has earned go to paying the credit lines through monthly instalment. He told me that he is just 36 months away from being debt free. However, his current company is folding up due to current market situation hence he is extremely depressed . There is only so much that I could lend it to him in the past. At his age, if he is being retrenched, he is unlikely to even get 1/3 of what he is getting now. This is sad but a true case. I wonder whether to declare bankrupt is a better choice for him . So wonder what is the best course of action that we could advise him. I heard that there are some debt consolidation firms that could help him, anyone has experience working with them? Are there any free public bodies that he can seek advice and to help him with the hardship? By the way, I'm seeking constructive advice here please don't give nasty remarks . Thank you very much for being considerate. Regards,
  2. GREELEY, Colo. - A dog stood guard over her owner's body for up to six weeks after the man committed suicide on the remote northeastern Colorado plains, authorities said. ADVERTISEMENT The body of 25-year-old Jake Baysinger of La Salle was found Sunday on the Pawnee National Grasslands about 75 miles northeast of Denver. Cash, his German shepherd, was found beside him, thin and dehydrated but still alive. The dog had apparently survived by eating mice and rabbits, authorities said. The Weld County coroner ruled Baysinger's death a suicide. The cause of death wasn't immediately determined but authorities found a gun nearby, the coroner's office said Tuesday. "At least we know it's over now," said Baysinger's wife, Sara. "We'd been looking for my husband for six weeks, and this isn't how we wanted it to end. At least we can close this." Baysinger was reported missing June 28. An extensive search failed to locate him, but Kip Konig, a rancher, saw the dog last weekend, went to investigate and discovered Baysinger's body and his pickup. He said Cash kept running back to the pickup and jumping into the front seat. "I got the sense she was trying to tell me where her master was," Konig said. Cash was reunited Monday with Sara Baysinger and her 2-year-old son, Lane. She said her little boy is "very close to that dog" and happy to see her again. Investigators said the dog probably kept coyotes away from the body.
  3. My friends booked a car with PI. Supposedly 6 bid guaranteed COE. It wasn't indicate that there will be COE rebate. The PI bid $7006 and got the COE at $2. Friend requested the PI to give some discount on the car as the COE had fell, otherwise he would not want to register the car and offer to buy back the COE and forfeit the deposit to the PI. The PI does not want to give discount and say that the loan has been approved. Friend then calle the bank, bank said the loan has not been reimbursed yet (I supposed this is true as the car has not been registered yet and the HP agreement had not been signed). The PI then said that they will sue my friend for breaching the sale contract. Friend asked for the sale contract and the PI said it is confidential and will not show it to him (I don't know why friend did not have copy of the contract in the 1st place). Need some advise here. What does the PI mean when he say will sue my friend? Sue him for the $2 COE? Friend is ready to forfeit the deposit leh. Sue what sue? Its just like I go book tour package, I pay deposit, tour agency got the air tickets for me, then I last minute cannot got tour. The most I pay for the air ticket and forfeit the deposit mah. Right?

  5. Hi need some help here. My friend knock into a cab's bumper. But is just a slight knock. And both cars has no physical damage or anything. But the cab driver insist on getting my friend's particulars. So they exchanged and my friend took the picture of both cars showing there is no damage. The cab driver said his company will check the car thoroughly to see if there is any damage and stuff. So now should my friend call the cab company to inform them of this incident first before he cook up some story? Or inform the insurance company and affect her NCD? Thanks alot for the help!

  9. This happened a few weeks ago. Was working, when I received a call from my friend M, who told me that he is now waiting below my office building and insisted I take a look at his new car, and then hung up. I was irritated, but also curious. What could the guy have bought himself now? On the way down in the elevator, I mentally cycled through the rides which he had owned and sold: BMW 320, Evolution VII, BMW 330 coupe, Nissan 350z, then MRT, due to interim indecision. I have always thought that M was a little erratic and definitely on the wrong side of crazy when it comes to cars, and having too rich a father. Without giving away his family business, I would just say that his father owns one of the food retail chains in Singapore. M is 29years old this year. I walked myself to the basement carpark, and I spotted M's latest ride straightaway. It was parked next to mine, and it was a black, presumedly preowned Nissan R34 GTR. I began by asking M if he was crazy, buying this car. He replied that he has "always wanted" a GTR and he "couldnt afford" to buy the "new one". Besides, he said that the R34 looks decidedly old-school, and more monsterlike in appearance. He rattled on and on about the features and plus points of the R34 but I perked up only when he asked if I would like to test drive it, and shoved the keys rudely in my face. I grabbed the keys and hopped into the cockpit of the car. (Note: The word cockpit is something I reserve mostly for cars having bucket seats and approximately 60-70 gauages, as seen on a lot of WRXs, Evos, and Hyundai Matix )M hopped in next to me while continuing to extol the virtues of the car. I started the car, and it was like armageddon has arrived in this little basement carpark in the heart of our CBD. Apparently M or the previous owner did not know that silencers are required for street cars in this country. Put the car into first gear, and stomped on the clutch pedal (yes stomped. It was triple or quadraple plate I forgot as M gleefully informed me then) and moved off cautiously, not wanting to let the engine die on me due to poor clutch control, and perhaps earning a snide remark from the demented M in the process. I will spare you the bits where I tried to get the R34 onto the highway and having the car engine stalled on me twice anyway and getting the hell honked out of me by a toyota something (altis?, vios?) and a Comfort taxi. Poor clutch control. Kindly pardon me. Well on the highway it was something else! This is quite a different beast altogether from whatever I have driven before. This particular R34 was boosting at 2 insane bars, and it felt like an unleashed hellhound surging forward to consume whatever was put in front of it everytime the throttle was engaged. M was whooping next to me asking "how?how? shiok or not?!" next to me all this while, and I have to admit that this is very close to the epitome of "shiokness". It humbles me to know that this car betters any of mine in sheer raw power and speed, though its footing was not as nimble around bends and corners. "How many horses again?" I asked M. "Close to 900" was his gleeful reply. And I believed him. This was a machine built to intimidate, to devour tarmac. It has an external electronic speedmeter built in, and I later noticed that the meter clocked and recorded 305kmh somewhere before. Every change of the gear was accompanied by what seemed like an endless wave of torque and the way the car goes, you keep reaching to up shift, only realising that there are only 5 gears, so you had to pace yourself accordingly. This car was tuned and built at one of the premier "modshops" in Singapore, and converted to a single large turbo car from its original twin turbo setup. Everything else was modified too by the same workshop, and M had the luck to buy it over in its "fully-tuned" condition. I told M after the drive that he had hit jackpot this time. I cursed M for making my car feel slow when I drove it home afterward. 900 ponies? I believe.

  12. After done shopping for a BD present for a guy friend, my female companion stopped by a shoe shop to shop. Seeing her hands filling up with shoes, I then offer to help her carry her handbag for a while. She refused and comment she would never let a guy carry her bag for her. Even for a short trip to the ladies, however she think it is ok to let a fellow female help carry for a while. Her comment is she can't stand guys who carry handbag for their GF. I however think it is Ok if the need arise. I thought it is conservative to think guy should be touching a ladies' handbag, but my friend turned again and said those who are ask their guy friends (or BF) to carry their handbags are conservative. Sounds like a topic here, so what do you all here thinks. Fact: We are old friends, not in a relationship.
  13. Anyone has done that? Any pros and cons? I personally feel a bit uncomfortable with having a friend as my house agent... as somehow think not too good to have money dealings with close friends. but on the other hand, if i'm going to let some stranger earn my 1% commission, i might as well let my friend earn the 1%?
