  1. Dear Admin, We can see that there is very high interest in alternative fuel recently, particularly on the use of CNG. There are threads about Hybrid, HHO and latest EURO IV diesel too. We see CNG topics in General car discussion, in performance forum and even in Skoda forum. They are here and there and infact everywhere. I'm of the suggestion to setup a forum specifically for the discussion of alernative fuel. It will facilitate the exchanges of view of alernative fuel than to see them everywhere in MCF. Kindly consider the suggestion. Thank you very much. Regards,

  3. Does additives works on Japanese cars??? Seen those STP fuel injector cleaners, Engine Oil treatment, Fuel system treatment, high octane booster...etc. Does it really work on Japanese cars?? I am asking becoz I heard these products are only tested on conti-cars... Anyone got any comments?
  4. Hi all! Came across this gadget on the net called the SingTech ECO Fuel Saver. Contemplating as to whether or not to install it. Anyone who knows anything about it or have tried it please do share your experiences. Thanks!
  5. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/transport/nea-clarifies-rules-for-car-emission-scheme National Environment Agency said yesterday petrol models with port fuel injection - where fuel is injected just before the engine's combustion chamber - will not be measured for particulate matter (fine soot). The exemption will apply when the Euro 6 emission standard kicks in in September and when the Vehicular Emissions Scheme starts in January. **** first it was the hoo ha on CAT A and 130 bhp because the dealers got no cars that could compete with turbo charge cars and claim unfair practice. Now, its the lack of ability in terms of port injection and cry foul on Port injection. When will the dealers own up and say we suck on building cars and face the facts and not blame other better cars out there
  6. Just bought odyssey from dealer, driving for 1 month, fuel consumption is about 8.8 km/L. Regular route - Bukit panjiang to Buona vista, sometimes highway during weekend. Is this normal? or I am too weak ;(.
  7. Which brand should I buy for fuel cleaning system ??
  8. With the price of petrol at sky high levels this days, I have been adopting a conservative driving styles with grade 95 petrol and it is amazing how much I am able to hit 16.05km/lit with my face lifted 7th Gen Civic. I also would like to know if I can use grade 92 now. Anybody can give me some insight here? Thanks in advance! Rgds, GigaCrusher
  9. guys, just want to poll, what is per tank mileage for VW jetta sport achieved. I was averaging 610-660 per tank, after my 60K sevrvicing, im doing 550 per tank of 50 L 60% normal roads, 40% highway
  10. What is your average fuel consumption of your C200 W204 (Kompressor)?? Mine is 10.1-10.5L/100km, but can achieve 7.8L/100km on a highway. Is 10.5L/100km consider high??
  11. Hi all, I've noticed that different petrol (similiar grade) caused the fuel guage to have different fuel consumption pattern. For example, 1) Shell 95; fuel level dropped fastest between 1/2 and 1/4 mark. Earlier from Full to 1/2 mark the drop is rather slowly. 2) Mobil 95; fuel level dropped fastest between 3/4 and 1/2 mark. Later the drop will be more gradual and evenly. 3) SPC 95; the level drop fastest around 1/2 mark, the rest rather constantly. 4) Caltex...have not tried it yet. Although I've experienced different fuel consumption pattern as witness from the fuel guage, but overall fuel consumption among the various brand is almost the same, minimal difference. Meaning; a full tank of Shell, or Mobil or SPC will given me around the same mileage travelled until the fuel guage empty light comes on. This difference in fuel consumption pattern (as observed from fuel guage) is repeatable, meaning its not a one time observation, whenever I use that particular brand the pattern appear again. Also travelling distance, timing and route is same, but its just that different petrol brand caused the fuel guage to give different reading (or different consumption rate?). Its not about the fuel tank profile/shape either, otherwise different brand will still give the same FC pattern, right? I've check with one of my colleague, and he had observed the same findings... So, just curious, have you noticed any difference in your fuel guage consumption reading when using different brand?
  12. Looking at the Lancer 1.5l GLS but did a search and saw that the fc not that good. Beyond the usual Altis, what else should I consider?
  13. Something to take the heat off Volkswagen I wonder who is next? http://www.bbc.com/news/business-36089558
  14. Hi all bros and sis. Inputs please.Indicate which brand fuel u use and achieved FC?

  16. Air con is set to fan mode and not cool air. Meaning it is blowing normal temp air.
  17. My latio is around 5.5 years old and clocked around 100K KM. Recently I noticed that one tank of petrol only can last around 350-380KM, that is around 20% drop when it was new (around 450-480 KM per tank.) The diving pattern do not change much, the petrol is always ESSO 95. Is this normal (fuel efficiency drop 20%) for a 5 year old car? or Something wrong so that I can bring it up on next visit to Tanchong?
  18. Hi, My uncle left the fuel cap after pumps at kiosk....and only discover on the following day. Any bros know where to get the fuel cap replacement? Car model : Toyota MarX Many thanks in advance....
  19. V8-powered cars have always been known to be not fuel efficient. But CNET reckons it shouldn't stop you from owning one. Watch the video and see what are the top 5 cars that it thinks have a good balance of power, price and of course fuel consumption. By the way, the choice of vehicles ignores hybrids and diesels and to our surprise, only one car is not German and it ranks highest on the list. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nf9ZuWwTH8 Now that you have seen this, wouldn't it be interesting to also have a listing of the least efficient V8 cars on sale, excluding diesels and hybrids?
  20. I have read in an Australia report that the new Jazz is LESS economical than the old Jazz due to heavier weight. Just wondering if those who own both Jazz models find this true? The old one hits 14-15km/l easy on auto. Latest one I have read is abt 13km/l or worse. "Further, the higher revs (which you need because the new model also put on 45 kilograms, making the Jazz the heaviest among its peers) tend to blunt fuel economy. The previous Jazz was a fuel miser but the consumption of the new model has lost this advantage and consumption is now on par with its peers. We averaged about 10 L/100 km around town, and about 7 L/100 km on the open road." http://www.drive.com.au/Editorial/ArticleD...mparisonID=1609 Hope to hear fm you.... :)

  22. Difficulty Level : 3/5 Car: Hyundai Avante Suspected previous owner never change the fuel filter, decided to get it replace DIY style. Replacement span over 2 days. A lot of figuring what going on. Reason why 2 days is because the bloody o-ring is giving me a lot of issue. First buying fuel filter from stocklist doesn't come with o-rings. Second, i thought i got all the o-ring taken but the car won't start and found out there is one o-ring hidden at the pump outlet. 2nd day morning, the fuel pump system wasn't holding pressure so end up having delay start of 2 -6 sec before the engine cut in. End up is o-ring issue again. You have to manually force the fuel pump outlet into the fuel filter with the special notches at the fuel pump outlet. Overall is a great deal of learning experience. I had to open up and dismantle the darn thing 5 times to do troubleshooting. Actually its a easy job once you get the hang of it
  23. Hi I noticed that when i drive early in the morning, the air is good and the surrounding is cool. therefore, i can off the aircon and enjoy natural air while saving fuel. But what is the most effective way? To consider: 1) Wind resistance (more windows open = more drag? ) 2) Safety (driver side opening fully is dangerous on the expressway? ) 3) Dirty interior due to road dust/dirt sticking on leather I also notice that opening half full will cause the window pane to vibrate at speeds of 80km/hr. Will there be risk of it breaking? Pls vote!
  24. early early morning had a scare... fuel needle rapidly going down and i thought tank leak. reach petrol kiosk and top up full until see petrol floating in tank, on engine still show almost zero.... bad start to morning.... any bros experience this before? is repair very urgent as can barely afford any downtime this week.... wat could be the cause and damage? driving a 4yr old forte.... thanks!
