  2. Do all these so called Fuel Saving Gadgets really works? Some of those in the market are shark plug. panther plug and some magnetic gadgets to be inserted at the fuel cable etc.
  3. I am currently considering b/w these 3 models-> BMW 320i, E200CGI or an audi A4. Does anyone know which brand gives the best fuel consumption?? For servicing, i know all will be expensive.. but is there a difference in cost b/w these 3?? (Generally, which will be more expensive in servicing?) Thanks
  4. lai lai lai... we are 1/3 into the month of May. Oil price has risen to new heights.... so will the greedy petrol cartel raise fuel price in May?
  5. 5.5 Years 110k KM. Should I change out the entire assembly or just the filter?
  6. Anyone tried Redline SI-1 Fuel System Cleaner? Any effect on FC, performance, etc?
  7. It's been debated 10000000x over but I feel it works ... What's your fav brand?
  8. Dear all, I just got back from a short vacation in Malaysia. I was at the Petronas before 2nd link. Paid the 100RM "deposit" and went to top up the fuel. But I was later inform by the cashier that she chose the 95 instead of 97 for me. So I went ahead with the yellow nozzle for the first time with no judgy eyes or repurcussion whatsoever despite many Malaysian and pump attendant around. Ever since I can remember, I was told that Singapore cars are NOT allowed to top up 95, minimally 97, from EVERYONE around me. So the qns is. Are Singaporean allowed to top up 95 fuel? I will ask the cashier the next time I go in. But for now, I guess this thread will be a good discussion lest many like me are misguided from hearsay. Money aside, base on my understanding, we should not mix different fuel type. On a unrelated note, this reminds me of the 5 monkeys 1 ladder social experiment.
  9. Let's see if your car is a petrol drinker anot. Best is to state car make and model. Sharing is caring! Currently driving a Suzuki Carry 1.3 for point A to point B.
  10. I received 15000 points from KMC when I bought my new vehicle which translates to $540 fuel. I think BM on and off had this promo as well. Would like to maximize my points and just wondering how it works Am I able to get the full discount for credit cards when paying with points? E.g. HSBC/Citi gets 4% extra instant discount Hence if I pump $47, will I get 14% off i.e price of $40.42 and pay $40 by points and 42c by card, or are CC discounts ineligible when part-paying with points?
  11. Hello, i have a little problem after i did a stage 1 ecu remap my mpg has decreased significantly when driving in town i can see the km range drop every 5 - 10 seconds by 1 km example whan i start up the car i have 250km left on fuel and after mayby 5km of driving it dropped to 210,while driving very normal when driving on the highway and using cruise control it comsumes fuel normally (or even better?) does anyone knows what the problem is? its a bmw 520d - year 2010- manual - 163hp version i have asked the tuner to just push the engine to it's limits without dangering the car components i did not ask him anything about fuel efficiency could it be that he remapped the engine so i have non stop torque at the low rpm's (like 0 - 2000 rpm) if so, would lowering the torque from 0 - 2000 rpm will get me a better fuel efficiency? i have added a picture, these are the results of the remap thank you in advance
  12. Hi, May I know when to change the fuel filter??? For my previous car, it was 40K km. My current car is Toyota Axio. I called my PI appointed workshop(MBM) and was told 60K. I called Riverview and they told me 80K. I called Hanip and was told 50K. I went to Stamford and foreman told me no need to change at all. My mileage is now 39,800+ km and going for my 40K major servicing and not sure whether to change fuel filter. Please advise. Thks.
  13. Huh?? Didn’t the petrol companies warned us last time NOT to use handphones at petrol stations as it can cause explosions??....
  14. Hi there, i'm having terrible fuel consumption with my toyota camry. even when i drive "conservatively", it is doing about 7-8km/litre. completely horrible. what are your experiences?
  15. Was chatting with a fellow brother and we were arguing about how having turbo will contribute to FC. I was on the camp that having turbo, FC friendliness will only be achieved if the required gear-ratio vs RPM is achieved. He was on the camp that turbo is FC friendly regardless, only the max BHP is the difference at the correct gear-ratio vs RPM. so, just to generate some chit chat. i am bored. share your views.
  16. Dear All, Recently saw a banner at the Cnergy Kiosk (along Toh Tuck Ave) showing 'Diesel @ $0.70', wonder anyone has tried: 1. They really have diesel other than CNG ? 2. Is the diesel quality as good as Shell, Mobil, Caltex ? 3. Recommended long-term usage ? Looking forward to your views and feedback ! Thanks ! With Best Regards
  17. Hi all, Due to lifestyle/commitment change, my traveling distance per day has increased to at least 55 to 60km in the weekdays. Currently driving a Hyundai Avante left around 1 year to scrap. It's give me about 11+km/l depending on traffic, recently like getting worst. I know now alot of new cars with better lower cc engines can give up to 20km/l paper spec! Choon boh? Hybrid got so good? I need advise from the forum gurus. Which new car now can really give me good fuel comsumption but still driving at least like my avante? basically I'm looking at this requirements: - Real life FC better thatn 16km/l (not paper spec, switch off AC, controlling pedal carefully those type. I want realistic normal driving in SG) - Still Driving a like 1.6 (Avante power actually not bad) - Size around like Avante (sedan or hatch) - Price around 100k +/- 10k - don't need other bell and whistle. Such cars exist? How is Hybrid but don't have such price right? I try to find same topic but dun have. Hope the good bros here can advise. Thanks in advance.
  18. Anyone tried this fuel addictive before? I think I saw this in supermarket in JB, but I can't remember how much they are selling over there. http://tinyurl.com/groupon-MyGreenOil Currently got promotion, $3 for a bottle (50% off)
  19. How come my fuel gauge needle stop moving? It stops at 3/4 mark and not at full or empty. May I know how to repair and go where repair? Prefer north or west side of Singapore.
  20. Understand Direct fuel injection (DFI) engine requests higher petrol grade, can advis what grade is suitable? Heard most Jap automakers output models w/o (DFI) due to most countries fuel grade is not suitable for DFI engine, include Singapore?
  21. hi, i noticed that my optra, which is 1.5 yrs old, has better fuel mileage lately. It happened suddenly after I have removed the spare tire and fill in shell petrol. maybe just coincident. I used to buy petrol from petronas station. me from malaysia. last time, 1 litre could go for about 7.6km and now 1 litre can go as high as 9.3km. 100% city driving. is it that the engine just ran in, which i heard so much about. The total mileage is only about 12000 km now. I don't use that car very often last time because of poor fuel mileage. Thank you Regards
  22. Dear Admin, We can see that there is very high interest in alternative fuel recently, particularly on the use of CNG. There are threads about Hybrid, HHO and latest EURO IV diesel too. We see CNG topics in General car discussion, in performance forum and even in Skoda forum. They are here and there and infact everywhere. I'm of the suggestion to setup a forum specifically for the discussion of alernative fuel. It will facilitate the exchanges of view of alernative fuel than to see them everywhere in MCF. Kindly consider the suggestion. Thank you very much. Regards,
