  1. Was on West Coast Highway after roundabout towards city this morning at about 9.30 +/-. On the 1st lane and saw one Mercedes trying to get out from right hand/U turn slip lane. Brake hard to give way for this burger who inches himself out. That's was OK to me, didn't horn nor flash my headlight at him as I was in a good mood. But, blardy hell, what I was recriprocrated was, he move off so slowly and hogging the 1st lane (right most lane)!!!!!! when there is sufficient space in front of him to accomodate 3 mega 10,000 TEUs container vessels. In the end, I have to overtake on the left. The car plate is SBB9999

  3. *sigh* *Big Sigh* Check with the brothers here.. if anyone can advise what i could do the make my St*pid Insurance give me my 10% NCD. I had a minor accident last August (10/08) .. a motorcycle brush my car and it fell to the ground. No injury to the cyclist and he said that he wont make any claim against me. However, to protect myself, i made a report anyway with 24 hrs.. So the insurance had a record of "pending case" and "reserved" $2000 for the accident. No claim so far has been made against me.. My insurance is due to renew this mth.. and when i check with them, they are not giving me my ncd.. and give a high high quote for my insurance.. I call up LTA and Traffic police.. both cannot help. So what shld i do ? Go to CASE ?
  4. Hi, All I'm writing this to share my utmost admiration to my fren - of cos, i dunno if he can really let go permanently. Here it goes: He's a SAP senior consultants/partnership, just upgraded to BMW7 last years. Daily ties & shirt attire, country clubs members, so called 'up-class' executives lifestyle. His wife teaches, with 2 teens. Suddenly, his ride becomes a lorry with foam boxes. He wakes up 2am to work, ends at 3-4pm. His daily attire becomes singlets & PCK boots.....he becomes a fishmonger overnight. After a long chat to find out that he now owns a stall with 2 chinese helpers. He also does deliveries and manage the daily trades. His reply:" if a good day, i can just take 5-6K a mth.....else only 3-4K. its a small fraction what i used to earned...... though I'm stink but I'm 100% stress free now" Of cos, it may be work stress, social stress, family demand stress etc...... I still wonder if he can continue like this, giving up all his past! I also feel that his family may not be happy (or cannot used to it) but to support the idea 100%. I dunno what really trigger his sudden move - but it really takes a lot of courages to make that change. I wish him well. Now, hearing this . . . . how well will you take it and will you make such a change! At times, when I took taxis to/from the airports for my trips, I'm always well taken by the 'education level' from the taxi drivers nowadays. I can confirmed that these drivers are somebody (SMET), based on our conversation. I wonder the credibility and career lifespan with qualification in Singapore nowadays. Also, cost of livings (standard) has delayed ones' retirements - its so impossible compared with the past. Cheers! Disclaimer - I am not biased to fishmonger - in fact, I view it as hard life & I respect all trades in life as long as they are 'legal'. I am also surprised that a good & experienced fishmonger can fetch closed to 9-10K a month.

  6. Just cleared my stuff recently, and there are lots of clothes and some appliances that i no longer need. Other than the salvation army, whom is so popular, are there other organisations I can give them to? Eg. Orphanages/Boy/Girl/Old folks home etc? The lesser known charities should be the ones whom can put them to more use locally. Thanks for reading
  7. Mandatory Give Way to Buses Scheme Extended to Four Bus Bays 1. From 27 June 2009, the LTA will introduce the Mandatory Give Way to Buses Scheme to four bus bays in the Choa Chu Kang area. 2. These bus bays are located along Choa Chu Kang Road (opposite the Phoenix LRT Station and Blk 26) and along Choa Chu Kang Drive (opposite Blk 209). They are the first bus bays to be added to since the scheme was piloted in December of last year at 22 bus bays along Bukit Batok East Avenue 3, Toh Tuck Road and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8. 3. LTA's ongoing review of bus bays island-wide will identify more locations that are well suited to this scheme. As this scheme extends, more bus commuters can benefit from the faster travel time. 4. Prior to implementation, banners will be put up along Chua Chu Kang Drive and Chua Chu Kang Road to remind motorists they need to give way to buses exiting bus bays. Result of Pilot 5. Results from the pilot showed that the scheme is effective in reducing the amount of time buses spend trying to get out of bus bays. This in turn has improved overall bus speeds. Buses are now able to exit the bus bays faster with a time reduction of up to 73% in some cases. Bus journey times have also improved by up to 7%. 6. The Mandatory Give Way to Buses Scheme is one of a series of measures LTA is implementing to improve the speed and reliability of bus services under the Land Transport Master Plan announced in 2008. In December 2008, LTA completed the expansion of the bus lane scheme, increasing the coverage of full day bus lanes from 7.6km to 23km and normal bus lanes from 120km to 155km. 7. Please refer to Annex A for the locations of the new bus bays.

STOMPer V, who received this forwarded email recently, wonders if this is true. "Well it's easy to take these precautions, so I guess it's better to be safe than sorry," said the STOMPer. The email reads: "Do not turn on A/C immediately as soon as you enter the car! "Please open the windows after you enter your car and do not turn ON the air-conditioning immediately. "According to a research done, the car dashboard, sofa, air freshener emits Benzene, a Cancer causing toxin (carcinogen- take note of the heated plastic smell in your car). "In addition to causing cancer, it poisons your bones, causes anemia, and reduces white blood cells. Prolonged exposure will cause Leukemia, increasing the risk of cancer may also cause miscarriage. "Acceptable Benzene level indoors is 50 mg per sq. ft. A car parked indoors with the windows closed will contain 400-800 mg of Benzene. If parked outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 60 degrees F, the Benzene level goes up to 2000-4000 mg, 40 times the acceptable level and the people inside the car will inevitably inhale an excess amount of the toxins. "It is recommended that you open the windows and door to give time for the interior to air out before you enter. "Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidney and liver, and is very difficult for your body to expel this toxic stuff." Back from my short trip and take train saw this incident an indian guy with his wife and a kid age around 3-4 they are seated but 2 or 3 person seperated them..the guy was 1 seat beside the priority seat incident was like this : this guy asked a lady to give up priority seat for his kid (who is seated with his mum 2 or 3 person away from the guy) not sure what happened about the conversation, when this lady walked away, she elbowed the guy and the guy walked towards the outside and said something to the lady. then this another indian guy (think is FT) seated at the priority seat, the guy asked him again to give up the seat..the FT guy agreed and the guy's family join him sitting with himself sitting at the priority seat in the first place, what's there for him to ask people to give up when his kid had seat and somemore not as young as a little baby?? i think the lady did it right to elbow him...LOL

  14. I know our drivers do not understand what is road hogging. Fine. Today along AYE towards Jurong, there was a police van, YES a police van with blinkers on and traveling on lane 1. Although its a van, it is still a police vehicle moreover with blinkers on. This wonderful grey RX300 decide to stick to its lane and refuse to give way from Bukit Merah to Normanton. I applaud his action and bravery. Maybe wanna test if the police van got install camera or not.

From 20 December 2008 onwards, special yellow boxes and triangular give way to buses markings will be painted in front of selected bus stops along Bukit Batok East Avenue 3, Toh Tuck Road and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8. Signs will also be installed ahead of these bus stops to warn motorists they are approaching a bus stop where they must give way to buses.   19. These are two puppies saved from a construction site. They are approximately 4 months old, both vaccinated, healthy and living happily. The one on the right is Shepherd (male) and the black one on the left is Lady (female). Shep (short for Shepherd as he looks like a German Shepherd) is a very friendly and inquisitive little fella. He is so likeable, you just fall in love with him immediately. Always wanting to be the center ofattention, he'll be the first to investigate food, people, dogs, cats which explains why he was the first and easiest to catch). The only boy in the litter, the smallest yet he is our "Braveheart" - size of a pup, heart of a lion. Many times, his bigger sized sisters will hide behind him as if seeking protection and yes, Shep is always there for them. He loves cuddles and pets and if allowed, will put his muzzle on your lap when he takes a nap. His huge pointed ears and sharp features make him uniquely handsome. Lady as aptly named as she is behaves like one. More cautious than her brother, though bigger in size, she has a lustrous coat of black and rich brown. She looks like a mini rottie or a fat dobbie. We anticipate her to be a good watch dog as she is always watching and if not sure, will let out a low growl. Lady is not as hyper as herbrother but certainly looks the faster to be trained as can keep still for longer periods. The seemingly smarter of the two, she lets her brother "check it out" before she ventures into anything.   20. You are a very rich man, you're going on a long, long holiday....you want me to take care of your BIG mansion for you while you're away. You pass me lots of money for the upkeep of the mansion and that includes paying me TOP bucks for my role as care taker, you didn't tell me that I can't use the money for other things other than for the maintenance of the huge mansion. You're are kind man but not a stupid one. I had been your frd for many years and had on many occassions shown my loyalty to you. While you're away, I thought why not place the huge excess amount of money, not currently in use for the mansion's maintanence into various investments, to generate more money given the same time frame if I were to just place the money in a saving or fixed deposit account. I lost money, much money in the investments and when you return , although the mansion was maintained properly, I told you what I did, only when you return. What would you do?
