  3. By JONATHAN CHENG and EUN-YOUNG JEONG in Seoul and TRISHA THADANI in San Francisco Updated Oct. 10, 2016 3:33 a.m. ET10 COMMENTS Samsung Electronics Co. has temporarily halted production of its troubled Galaxy Note 7, according to a person familiar with the matter, the latest setback for the South Korean technology giant as it struggles to manage a recall of 2.5 million smartphones. The move comes after a spate of fresh reports of overheating and fires with phones that have been distributed to replace the original devices, which also had a risk of catching fire. In a statement Monday in Seoul, Samsung said that it was “temporarily adjusting the Galaxy Note 7 production schedule in order to take further steps to ensure quality and safety matters,” without elaborating. The production halt underscores the growing seriousness with which Samsung is dealing with its largest product recall to date. Last month, Samsung officials shrugged off reports of overheated batteries, calling the incidents “isolated cases” related to issues of mass production. In a separate statement a few days later, the company said in response to reports about abnormal battery charging levels in its replacement phones that “the issue does not pose a safety concern.” While Samsung hasn’t confirmed the latest reports of problems with its replacement phones, it said in a statement Sunday that it was working with authorities including the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to investigate the new incidents. http://www.wsj.com/articles/samsung-to-halt-galaxy-note-7-production-temporarily-1476064520

This sound is more pronounce when I first drive the car early in the morning (I assume when its cold, some rubber parts have not fully expanded). Any idea what could be the issue? ***No there is no frog living under my car

  10. Hi all, Any bro/sis been there? Is there any public carparks near the embassy? Thanks.
  11. Fellow bros, I'm current driving an avante. Just went for servicing on sat n I did the following. Basic servicing(engine oil and filter changed) Coolant changed Brake oil changed Spark plug replaced Atf oil changed After the servicing, drove out wif family to spend our weekend. Sun went JB n as usual stuck in the jam as well. Mon when I checked the car, found out that the coolant in the secondary tank dropped closed to half. Opened up the radiator and found the coolant level Oso dropped. So I top up wif water for both side and drove off... For the next 2 days, the level at the radiator dropped but the level at the secondary tank remains the same. So I drove bk to the ws today. They tested and jacked up the car n no leakage was found. They came to a conclusion that during the time when they topped up the coolant, it's actually not full yet so the level will tends to drop and it will stablised once the coolant is really full.... I've decided to take a few more days to monitor, but is there any truth in wat they said? Considering the fact that during the weekend I've drove a lot and the coolant shld haf stablised till then...

  13. When I was 10, time seemed to go by so slowly. I had all the time in the world to do what I wanted. January seemed to never end. Though, December did seem to pass by a little faster than January did in that year. But, it was soon January again, time for school, time for friends, time for new learning. Right now, time passed us by so fast. LKY's passing was more than a month ago. I had not much idea what happened to April. Time. It seems not to be constant, but yet, all our instruments tell us that it is. A second is always a second. A year is always a year. Or is it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNgyEmYyQF4

  15. Is this VW's answer to Merc AMG A45? http://www.worldcarfans.com/114042173778/volkswagen-golf-r-400-concept-going-into-production---report Volkswagen's head of research and development has reportedly confirmed plans to build a production version of the Golf R 400 concept. There's no word on when the car will be launched but Car & Driver says the news comes directly from Heinz-Jakob Neusser. As refresher, the Golf R 400 has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that has been tuned to produce 400 PS (294 kW) and 450 Nm(332 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 100 PS (73 kW) and 70 Nm (51 lb-ft). It is connected to a six-speed DSG transmission and a 4MOTION all-wheel drive which enables the 1,420 kg (3,130 lb) hatchback to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, before hitting an electronically-limited top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).

  23. SINGAPORE: Interest rates in the US and in turn, Singapore, are likely to pick up over the next one to two years, said DBS CEO Piyush Gupta. This means now could be a particularly good time for borrowers to lock in loans at current interest rates. Borrowers can look at switching from floating to fixed rate loans, added Mr Gupta. But that is a hard appeal to make to Asian investors, who prefer not to fix their interest rates. "In Asia, pardon me, but most of us tend to be punters...Anecdotally, the easiest way to think about this - We go to the US, the most popular mortgage in the US is the 30-year fixed rate mortgage. In Asia, we at DBS tried pushing two years ago a 5-year fixed rate mortgage...almost no takers. So Asians don't like fixing, Asians don't like hedging," said Mr Gupta. "However, given where we are in terms of our view in the world and the fact that there's likely to be a steepening bias over 12, 24 months, I would suggest it might be worthwhile to think about it." Speaking at an event for his private bank clients, Mr Gupta also warned of risks brought about by over-borrowing in the Chinese economy. Total borrowing in the economy currently makes up 214% of GDP, up from 170% of GDP in the 2000s. Mr Gupta said: "It is not impossible that some small state-owned enterprises, some small regional banks go into an element of restructuring. "They won't let it go bankrupt but the restructuring might mean bail-in, might mean some creditors. And I think that will be part of this restructuring of the system over the next couple of years. "So my thoughts on China is - I don't think it will fall off a cliff, but since there will be winners and losers, you'd better be very thoughtful and careful about your selection of counterparties...who do you really do business with." Overall, Mr Gupta sees a "slow bias" in the economy in Asia. This is largely due to a restructuring in the Chinese economy, as policymakers opt for quality growth over high growth. "If China runs at 7 or 7.5% (full year GDP growth), I think it always spills over into our part of the world. There will be some volatility and up and down - Singapore surprised with the latest GDP number - but overall I really see a slow bias in the economy in this part of the world," said Mr Gupta. - CNA/ir http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/busine...ent/745500.html
