  1. hi all... i spent more than 30mins typing this post when my com decided to hang just now and ALL GONE... arghhh.. so i shall re-write but briefly... some of you might know that i had an accident in which i re-ended another car in Sep 2010... i admitted all fault... exchanged particulars, got my car fixed, Chartis processed my own claims very swifty and smooth... spare car till my car was ready... the recommended ws was very helpful, did for me extras all till the 3rd time i went back to them... (i know that sure make frm my claim anyways) so my side own claims settled... then i got a letter from TP telling me to make a police report cause there was injuries... i was like WTF? but later came to terms that this is normal... watever backlash medical claims... so i did a report... then TP letter came told me i kanna fined and 6 demerit points... i was again WTF???... but later realised this is normal... i caused an accident... so i went to TP @ Ubi and tried to appeal... for accidents must talk to IO... so i did, and kanna up dwn left right abt i not doctor, i never keep safe distance... i bang the back i should know i am wrong, high way code got teach me blah blah blah... i was frustrated but all that he said was true and made sense... so i asked him seriously what are my chances of a sucessful appeal to wavie this summons... he told me everybody has a right to appeal, get a form fill in and submit before last day to settle the summons... i took a copy of the appeal form hm that day... i thought about it the whole night... decided to just pay up get the demerit points and move on... so i went back to TP soon after and paid my fine by credit card... some time later got a letter frm TP telling me i just got my 6 demerit points credited and when it will expire blah blah blah... so now only left the other parties claim and my premiums sky rocketing... but just now i opened my letter box and saw this.... WHAT IS GOING ON SIA?....

  5. Problem #1 Drivers ignoring yellow-box:- Location of yellow box: juntion between old lorong chuan (from Australian International School to Bradell Rd, this yellow box connects lor chuan, slip road from CTE from AMK direction towards Bradell Rd, and a small slip road which goes under the CTE/Bradell flyover towards old lor chuan... It's a everyday deadlock when drivers from old lor chuan going towards Bradell Rd (in the direction of Thomson Rd completely ignore the yellow box and block traffic from the CTE slip road (from AMK direction).......... when the light is green for the CTE slip traffic, the yellow box is choked with cars from old lor chuan.... the cars from CTE slip road have to take 2-3 green light changes just to cross the yellow box.... Mr LTA/TP, where are you? are you going to do something at least? If readers have any other such "Problem" spots / bottlenecks and LTA/TP have not done anything to solve the problem, please feel free to say it here..... we are not LTA/TP so we cant solve the problems, but Mr LTA/TP are paid to do a decent job, which is not happening.....

  8. COEs breach $70,000 IT IS going to be a blue, blue Christmas for car buyers and sellers alike after certificate of entitlement (COE) premiums continued their phenomenal spike. While two out of five COE categories ended slightly lower at the latest tender on Wednesday, the other three went through the roof. COEs for cars up to 1,600cc softened from the previous tender, ending 3.1 per cent lower at $46,129 - still among the highest levels in the past 10 years. COEs for cars above 1,600cc, however, stayed resilient, rising by 15.2 per cent to close at $72,001. Open COEs - which can be used for any vehicle type, but end up mainly for bigger cars - also continued their surge, hitting $76,102. They chalked the biggest percentage gain on Wednesday of 17.3 per cent. Commercial vehicle premiums ended 4.7 per cent higher at $33,501, while motorcycle premiums were 8.8 per cent lower at $1,551. 14. HK labour unions slam minimum wage as too low Hong Kong yesterday set the city's first minimum wage at HK$28 (S$4.54) an hour, angering labour groups which criticised it as too low to make ends meet in the glitzy financial hub. The government is aiming to usher in the base wage from next May - lower than the HK$33 demanded by labour activists. The densely populated city of seven million is also home to hundreds of thousands of workers who live on hourly wages sometimes as low as HK$15 ah hour. Concern about Hong Kong's growing income gap - which the UN Development Programme last year pegged as the world's biggest among wealthy economies - prompted the government to introduce the wage floor. - AFP taken off the new paper 111110 our govt has always said that minimum wage will induce unemployment, now HK unions are pressing for a higher minimum wage soon HK economy will crumble and will trigger yet another ression! OMG!

  19. Move to have zero vehicular growth to tackle road jams "imminent" By Hetty Musfirah Abdul Khamid | Posted: 09 September 2010 1928 hrs Photos 1 of 1 Traffic jam in Singapore. SINGAPORE: Congestion on Singapore's roads has renewed calls for more aggressive measures to curb the vehicle population. One solution is to have zero vehicular growth, a point raised by Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong at a dialogue with grassroots leaders recently. Observers said implementing such a move is imminent as Singapore roads are nearing maximum capacity. Singapore's vehicle population has grown to about one million. With limited land, vehicle growth rate has been set at 1.5% for the next two years. But, is this sustainable? Dr Lim Wee Kiak, chairman of Government Parliamentary Committee for Transport, said: "We should maintain our current fleet of vehicles, not to increase further. Perhaps, given a chance, Ministry of Transport should consider a reduction in vehicle number rather than (an) increase. "We are looking at a reduction in growth, but what I will like to see is to reach the zero (growth) faster. In Parliament, we have been pushing for some sort of a zero growth, if not, even a negative growth to counteract the excess over the last few years. "They should release (fewer) COEs compared to the number of vehicles taken off the roads so that there is actually a reduction in the number of vehicles in Singapore." The reduction in COEs will mean higher car prices. Is this likely to get more people on public transport? "I will still strive to get a car, even if the price is high," said a member of the public. "I still want to own a car," said another. "If you are holding a certain position, you may need it (car) for the image," said a third. "I will give up my car, if the transport in Singapore is able to achieve the coverage.....(such that) we can go anywhere conveniently," said a fourth. Such reasons are why many say aggressive measures are needed to convince people to take public transport. One suggestion has been for public transport operators to offer fare discounts for travel during off-peak hours, as this is likely to tackle the problem of overcrowding in trains. Dr Lim Wee Kiak said that with discounts, more people would consider spreading out their travel. "So there would be spaces for everyone," he said. Buses must also become a more reliable alternative, said Associate Professor Lee Der Horng from the Department of Civil Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He said: "We must take some very aggressive approach. What we have to do is, other than the MRT, we have to pay more attention to the buses. "Can we provide more full-day bus lanes? Can we give higher priority to public transportation vehicle like the bus? Can we improve the level of bus service, have cleaner buses, newer buses, faster buses, safer and more comfortable (bus travel)?" Meanwhile, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said it will conduct a review in 2012 to determine an allowable vehicular growth rate. It also said that even if the growth rate is reduced to zero, there will still be a need for usage measures to effectively manage demand for roads. - CNA/ir http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1080183/1/.html Going to implement soon.. No smoke without fire.. Some policy to cover the mistake they make earlier..
