  3. Upon reaching adulthood, you're faced with two choices. You can either take your chances with our public transport network to get to work or spend half of whatever amount of money you have left to your name to buy a car. If you've decided to go with the latter, why not get a hatchback? It's probably the most sensible option for a tiny island country such as ours. In recognition of that, MyCarForum has partnered with Volkswagen to present you one of our favourite hatchbacks - the Volkswagen Golf. Click here to register! Last date of reg is 20 May JOIN US FOR OUR MCF HANGOUT WITH VW, PART 2 @ 24th MAY 2018, 6 PM, 247 ALEXANDRA ROAD S(159934) If you know someone who plans on buying a car, share this thread with them and invite them to join us for this exclusive event. We will be discussing the advantages of owning a hatchback and how you can get the most out of it. Volkswagen Golf vs Class Competition Introducing the heavyweight of the hatchback segment, the Volkswagen Golf. We've brought in the big guns for this one, guys. You'll experience firsthand how this heavy-hitter holds its own against its competition in the same category. Click here to register! Is the Volkswagen Golf the only model available? Nope! We've arranged for you to test drive the entire Volkswagen model lineup between 6 pm and 9 pm. You'll be able to get behind the wheel of hot favourites like the Golf, Passat, Touran and many more. But, of course, the star of the show is the Volkswagen Golf. That's why we have arranged for our Editorial team to share with you their insights into how a small car can have such a huge impact on you (if you own one, of course). Okay, count me in. Where do I sign up? You've made the right choice, my friend. Thank you for your interest in joining our next MCF Hangout. Registration is now open. Be warned, though. 4. Saw some nice mk5 golf gti in the used car market. Got a few with one owners. Just thinking if it’s worth to buy one and renew coe? Is the mk5 gti a difficult car to maintain? Especially the dsg gearbox. Do share your views pls. Thanks!
  5. Was at VW Alexandra 1st week of Sep 2017. According to SE, Golf facelift (mk7.5) is already in Tuas, undergoing LTA homologation process. All SEs have already been there to look at the cars, with photos in their mobile phones. Spec sheets have already been drawn up, which I got a glimpse on SE's mobile phones. Some sketchy (I don't have complete picture) details: Current Golf 1.2 will be replaced with facelift 1.0 New 1.4 will again have two versions, named ComfortLine or TrendLine or HighLine or something. Facelift 1.5 is nowhere in sight. GTI and R is also in the works. Active Info Display is "deemed a high-end feature", and only available in the highest models: GTI and above. ACC (adaptive cruise control) is again nowhere in sight. Currently clearing Golf stocks (all ex-stock, limited colors) to make way for the facelifts. They shouldn't have any problems since Cat A just drop a massive 7K on 06-Sep 2017.

    Golf Variant

Hi all Just wondering, anyone here has tried or are considering to buy or bought/owned the Golf Variant? Any feedback and owner's/personal reviews on it? Realised that Estates/Station Wagons are not amongst the favourite for potential car buyers - thought its a great alternative to consider especially if VAG could be more relax/generous in their offers for this model. Cheers!

  10. I was considering the Jetta as a replacement for our family car, but down at the showroom, the CO expressed more interest in the Golf instead. Would appreciate feedback from the bros and sis driving the current Golf. In particular, Internet has a lot of negative reviews about the DSG gearbox. Does anyone driving the Mk 7 Golf have any issues so far? Thanks in advance.

  12. Dear Drivers, Bros, Friends and the other reprobates that hang out here. As part of a new thing for my company - and to help out a friend running a golfing business, I have had my programmer develop a simple GOLF COURSE RATING application that runs on Facebook. This is for Singapore and Johor only for now, it allows for you to enter your round of golf, comment on your best and worst holes, and give a comment on the course - as well as see what others say. My application is ready for BETA testing (not going live to the public yet) - so I need some users to test it and give feedback please. If you are a golfer, and are able to help out to do some testing and give your considered opinions, please drop me a PM. Many many great thanks Darryn * P.S - I asked permission before posting this
  13. Last Sunday morning which was 24/01/16, I was on my way from SG to JB and as usual, there was a heavy jam. Through this 1hr plus of jam, I saw few things which made me think twice before buying conti cars. First I saw a Volvo X40 which put hazard light in the middle of jam and stop moving Then 1 WW Golf turn right to siam the volvo and hit my rear bumper, he act blur wana drive away(in a jam). He say got hit meh, then he said cause that Volvo put hazard light blah blah blah. I let him go cause my picanto is scrapping soon and my scratch is very minor but the Golf scratches is so obvious and big. Then I saw the Volvo start his car and travel a while before his car die again Then I saw the Golf who hit me also car die half way. Like seriously, Wtf is wrong with those cars. Lol
  14. We all know Porsche's new 991 GT3 is a pretty fast car considering that it has 475bhp and can do more than 300km/h if the roads allow so. So, this guy in his Nissan comes up to GT3 and tries to out drag it with his 350Z. Of course the 350Z has to be tuned in order to even stand a chance. According to the video, it is equipped with a supercharger that would increases output to at least 420bhp. Then, all of a sudden, something else comes up from behind and surprises them at an estimated 240km/h. Watch the video and find out what happens... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Dq2lh51G_c

  16. Is this VW's answer to Merc AMG A45? http://www.worldcarfans.com/114042173778/volkswagen-golf-r-400-concept-going-into-production---report Volkswagen's head of research and development has reportedly confirmed plans to build a production version of the Golf R 400 concept. There's no word on when the car will be launched but Car & Driver says the news comes directly from Heinz-Jakob Neusser. As refresher, the Golf R 400 has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that has been tuned to produce 400 PS (294 kW) and 450 Nm(332 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 100 PS (73 kW) and 70 Nm (51 lb-ft). It is connected to a six-speed DSG transmission and a 4MOTION all-wheel drive which enables the 1,420 kg (3,130 lb) hatchback to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds, before hitting an electronically-limited top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h).
  17. the used GTi on sale at sgcarmart are on the high side... $80k ++... isnt it more worth to get brand new ones?
  18. With the car prices still hovering at a pretty high level, most car owners have probably given up the thought to swap into a newer or cooler ride. Which explains why car wraps have been pretty popular recently as it is quite a cost effective way of sprucing up a tired or boring ride. Watch this MK4 Volkswagen Golf go through a makeover in the form of a car wrap in this amazingly cool stop motion video... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMhMkVDJczc
  19. bros can GOLF 195/65/16 be replaced using a 205/55/16?? thanks for the feedback...
  20. Went shopping for a car for my wife at VW today. My wife is keen on the VW golf since most of her friends are driving that and it is relatively fuss-free from what she heard from friends. Plus the compact size will allow her to have lesser parking problems in office. But my colleagues in office are telling me to avoid VW at all cost due to the long service centre queues and lousy customer service. Since the price of a A250 is relatively cheaper than a golf GTI, is it a better choice to get that instead since they look much the same as on paper and in metal.
  21. I am looking for original VW Golf 17" Rims. Preferably those who traded in brand new. Anyone know of any shops that might have? Thanks!
  22. Hi. I am looking for original VW Golf 17" rims. Know any shops that might carry these? Don't mind those that are traded in as long as good condition. Thanks!
  23. One of the most iconic automotives of all times - the Volkswagen Golf - is celebrating its 40th birthday. We take a trip through the memory lane with a brief history of each generation. The Golf is a statement of progress, reflecting some of the most advanced technologies by the Wolfsburg automaker during each era. Replacing the aged Beetle, the Golf Mk.I saw daylight in 1974. But unlike its 'predecessor' who had a rear engine, rear-wheel drive layout (and likewise most of the other cars in the market), the Golf had an innovative transversely front engine driving its front wheels. The second Golf was introduced in 1983, together with a slew of technologies such as regulated catalytic converter, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and power steering. Also, for the first time, the Golf could be ordered with an all-wheel system. With the introduction of front airbags, Golf Mk.III heralded a new era of safety. Major advances in the body construction also significantly improved crash safety. Later in its lifecycle, a convertible (Golf Cabriolet) and an estate (Golf Variant) were also added to the family. The Mk.IV Golf saw the debut of ESC, and is the first to receive a Haldex clutch - termed Golf 4MOTION. Later on in 2002, the first direct injection (FSI) enginer was fitted to the hatchback. Also introduced was the top-of-line R32 hot hatch which was capable of a 250km/h top speed, which was also the first to feature the revolutionary dual-clutch gearbox (DSG). The Mk.V Golf adopted laser welding for its bodywork, which resulted in 35 percent increase in torsion rigidity. In terms of safety, side airbags were offered as an option for the first time - on top of six standard ones. The Golf also gets a tall list of equipment, such as new four-link rear suspension, seven-speed DSG, bi-xenon headlamps, panoramic sunroof - as well as the world's first twincharger (TSI) in the 2006 model. Volkswagen continued to work on the safety aspect of its icon with advances in its body rigidity, and the efforts paid off with a five-star EuroNCAP safety rating. More TSI engine variants were offered alongside the turbodiesel (TDI) engines. Park Assist - the automatic parking system which garnered much limelight - was also introduced in the Golf. Like its predecessors, the latest Golf had a keen interest in fuel economy and driving dynamics. A hundred kilograms were shed in the Mk.VII Golf, improving the fuel efficiency by as much as 23 percent. The turbodiesel Golf TDI BlueMotion sets the benchmark for efficiency, claiming a figure of 31.25km/L. In line with global trends, electric variants of the Golf - e-Golf and plug-in hybrid Golf GTE - were added to the family.
