    GPS Mount

How do you all actually mount your GPS in your car? I wonder how this work, as I don't think any mounting device is that strong. I tried many but most cannot make it and not able to hold the device's weight. This actually block the front view. During the night, the display will be reflected onto the front windows at night. This resulted in poor vision. This device is not reliable and will drop off when you made a sharp turn. Cabling also an issue. This will cause "condensation" on your device and also block the air flow from the AC. Your solar film will left with mark with this mounting method. Yet to try this magnetic device. But don't think it can hold the weight.
  3. This is my 1st time buying a PI car and choosing a pioneer HU to install. What I need is a HU with GPS function and can work with iphone(preferably with andriod too). Hope the experts can help. From what I have read from pioneer website and this forum, it seems that only 8650 has GPS module. What does this mean? Just upgrade firmware? Free? Other forumers have also suggestion to use the phone navigation function. Does all the model support this? Somehow I find that 8650 is an overkill as I'm not really into audio systems. Just listen to radio and MP3. Sorry for this noob question. I'm still lost and couldn't find explanation to my queries. Thanks a lot in advance.
  4. I just got a samsung sgs2. Anyone here can fast forward me to any Apps that does a good GPS guided job on the roads?

  10. Anyone can advise where can we get this? Seems like a good gadget to have. http://www.techradar.com/reviews/car-tech/tom-tom-gps-and-sat-nav/garmin-hud-1204503/review Seems like its been out for quite some time. However, a search on local garmin website does not feature this item. Thanks
  11. Hi folks, Just bought a Garmin 50LM at Sitex and like to ask the following questions: 1) Do I need to do an initial charge? The staff (looks like part timer) doesn't seem sure when I asked... 2) If I wan to charge using adapter what volts should I use? I wouldn't be in the car long enough to charge it using the supplied car charger.. 3) As I was using another brand last time, how do I search for malaysia locations? I tired keying hatten malacca / Melaka but nothing was found.. My previous Marbella GPS will be able to find when I key in Appreciate your response in advance!
  12. And so I came across a friend's post on Facebook this morning about how he managed to retrieve his mum's mobile phone from someone who took it (whether she misplaced it or what is not the main point, the main point is that he managed to get it back from the person who took it and I'm sure not many of us are that lucky). I personally had my own mobile phone, a iPhone 3GS stolen from me at Parkway Parade many years back. I made a police report, had CCTV footage to back me up but nothing was done. And oh, it was a job done by two guys from China. Ok back to the main topic. I'm sharing it here for awareness as many of us know we can track our phone but have no idea what app to use or how to go about doing it and since he is unable to start a new thread as he hasn't clocked 25 posts, I'll do it for him. Here is his encounter. @y2kjericho86 if you are able to reply, do share with us, or anyone knows of other apps that can help, please share with us too.

  15. I like to give away my working Garmin Nuvi GPS. Self collect at Woodland area.
  16. Hi, I need some suggestions / recommendations as this is the first time I am getting an aftermarket receiver. I hope this receiver will come with inbuilt GPS and can attach a reverse camera to it. I did some research, seems like Alpine and Kenwood are reputable whereas Pioneer doesnt come with inbuilt GPS (thats what the local website says). My car is still under warranty, hope installation of aftermarket reverse camera and receiver will not void the overall car warranty.Any recommendations? Thank you!

  19. A URA carpark warden snapping a photo of a car before issuing a summons. The handheld device used to issue summonses can now take photos too. Parking enforcement officers' devices capture photo evidence of offences Forget about protesting or appealing against that ticket for illegal parking. You may not see parking enforcement officers carrying digital cameras, but the familiar hand- held device that they use to issue summonses can now also take photos of parking offences. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) started using these two-in-one devices last month. Its enforcement officers on motorcycles use them to snap photos of illegally parked vehicles before issuing summonses. The gadget even uses Global Positioning System satellite coordinates to record the exact location where a summons is issued. 22. Garmin has released the new Nuvi 2567LM. I'm currently using Nuvi 2565, planning to get another GPS as a backup, but can't decide between Nuvi 2565 or 2567? Here are the pro and cons for the above two models Nuvi 2565LM Pro ---- - Can share the car suction mount cradle holder with my older Nuvi 2565LM, ie. got spare cradle as a backup incase the other cradle breaks. Con ----- - Not Sure. Nuvi 2567LM Pro ---- - Got this "Up Ahead" feature. Up Ahead is a constant stream of nearby services information – including restaurants, stores, hospitals and fuel stations – that appears alongside your map and updates as you move along your route. May be a good feature to have. - Smartphone Link on weather forcast but don't think this feature is important for me because can easily get the same info from our phone. Con ---- - can't share the suction cradle with Nuvi 2565, so no spare cradle for backup.
