  1. Something very basic, just gives total run distance / time, no need heart rates etc or download-function. Something like the Soleus GPS 1.0 Apparently this model retails for about $180, cheaper than most other GPS watches (which have more functions though) and good for users just want to know distance/time only. For about the same price, any better choice? Many thanks
  2. Hi bros, anyone has used this or other garmin gps? How's your user review/feedback on it? Thanks.
  3. Thought of getting a gps, shopping around comparing and i saw this deal. http://www.groupon.sg/deals/shopping/COURT...e-Ltd/716110528 anyone?
  4. yesterday a bit bored, setup 2 phones for GPS speedometer (Iphone 4 and Galaxy S2) and realize that my speedometer reading vs GPS is out..really out. Already got a hint when playing around with the acceleration (to measure 0-100) program on S2, i drove to 105km/hr before slowing down, but program never register the the 100km/hr mark. speedometer cruising at 90km/hr, both GPS shows 81-82km/hr (GPS speed remains quite steady for few minutes) speedometer 40km/hr, both GPS shows 34-35km/hr search internet, found out that manufacturer always set higher (by law for saftey reasons) and up to 5% (around there...forgot the exact figure) is allowed. That is with new tryes. With worn tryes, the error can be more. driving Altis 1.6 G10, My rim/tyres stock (195/65/15) ~14,000 km. NO mods (yet ). driving with 1 adult passenger and 1 baby. driver side front right very heavy... Now i know, it is bugging me. no wonder i always kena tailgate, cause when i though i am 'overtaking' 100km/hr at 1st lane, actually i am just a bit over 90 (too slow at 1st lane). Also when i though the car is smooth at 110km/hr (compared to G9 altis)..its actually only slightly over 100km/hr. No wonder so many ppl do 0-100km/hr "test" on the road based on the speedometer will get good acceleration figures... So how to 'correct' this problem? I am not looking for exact (tyre wear will change speed anyway) but current variation is way too much. Only thing i can think off is changing rims to 16" or change tyre to 205/60/15....but sacrifice my current tyre and (spare tyre also need to change)....or can simply ignore. Can tell wife its for safety reason i need to upgrade rims and performance tyres
  5. Just got a Garmin 1350. Have tried all the settings and couldn't have the lane view displayed (i.e. whether am I driving on lane 1, 2 or 3). I remembered there is lane view displayed on previously borrowed Nuvi 250W. Not particularly impressed with its user friendliness. Took quite some time to figure out even the search function.
  6. dear all, thought of getting a Garmin GPS locally ... use in singapore and able to bring to oversea (Germany and USA); can it be done? or if you purchase from singapore only able to use in Singapore and Malaysia only? 7. Hi guyz, anyone using the Road Emperor DVD with GPS? How do you find it? Is it stable and function well according to what the manufacture claim? I know it is China made but the all in one sound very attractive. Any feedback is much appreciated.
  8. Finally can start a new thread! My car comes with the stock GPS (from KIA) - the one with a screen popping up at the centre of the dashboard .. understand from them tat if wanna update map, must pay $85. Was wondering whether I can change a GPS (which still continues to use the screen.. if not it's quite strange to have a blank screen there). Also is it possible for me to connect any other devices to the screen (think in-car video recorder) as it seems like it has a few 'channels'. Any bros who knows anywhere tat i can do this, please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Bros, is this a good deal? http://www.groupon.sg/deals/shopping/group...amp;a=715828071 Thanks!
  13. Many a time I dont. Some suggested directions are idiotic. Like from Tampines to Bartley Road East filtering left to Airport Road and turning right to KPE. At the junction with Airport Rd, my GPS tells me to turn left towards Eunos Link and make a U turn towards KPE.

  19. Hi to GPS owners, I have searched around MCF a little and very few topics answered my question. Why do so many of my friends buy GPS from overseas like US and hand carry back? Why do so many of us buy via Vpost? Local sets are more expensive I assume but what other factors are there? I can buy a cheap United States garmin but when I went to garmin.com.sg for map download, it says only sets bought from local authorised sellers can download. So whay do people avoid local sets? Thanks in advance folsk
  20. Buy a GPS, get a video recorder free? Further more, the GPS only costs sub $200. Any comments?

  24. I have a Garmin Nuvi 610, and recently installed a 2 din Headunit with integrated GPS in my car now have no use for my Nuvi 610. Was thinking of selling it, but I know won't get much back for it Has anyone found alternate uses for their handheld GPS besides driving in Singapore? I wonder can you use it while travelling overseas on holiday while you walking around shopping for example? or hiking in the jungle for example Mt Ophir etc..?
  25. Currently my GPS is mounted at about eye level near the A pillar to my right. I find it easy to take a quick glance at it without moving my eyes too much / too long from the road in front. My right hand finger can reach the touch screen quite easily but it leaves only my left hand holding the steering wheel (may not be too safe in case there's an emergency). This position also blocks the views of cars coming from the right hand side road on some ocassions. Any bro knows a safer yet convenient position for the GPS screen? Btw, how you guys hide the cable for the plug-in power socket (usually connecting the GPS to the cigarate lighter socket on the dashboard or near the gear console)?? Many thanks
