Hi folks, Please pardon my ignorance.. I'm changing my car next year and have narrowed down my choices to Golf GTI or Civic type R (hatch).... (thinking of getting a 2nd hand 2007 model) Prior to that, I would need some advices which I hope some of you kind brothers or sisters might be able to enlighten me... 1) Maintenance and depreciation cost of GTI vs CTR -> I'm guessing CTR would be a better choice?? 2) Fuel consumption -> Any one knows how to do an assessment? I'm in the impression that GTI is better in terms of FC.. but would CTR lag far behind?? Any drivers of CTR here?? If so, would you be able to give me a rough guage on how your FC is like?? I'm not a petrol head... just want a car powerful enough for the occasion speed fix... Thanks for your time reading this folks.... Happy holiday!! cheers

As above. At $55,888 for a 2,000cc car, consider relatively affordable. In fact, many 1,600cc cars cant even match this price. Power wise, only 5 horses lesses than Civic 2,000cc, but torque is 8 Nm better Worth buying ? Any 2.0R drivers here ??

was looking at some cars and saw one which has not lock on the fuel hatch.. was thinking this shd be an important feature right? no lock means anyone can open and siphon out petrol, or worse drop garbage into the petrol tank.. which car models u guys know are missing this feature? any option to install one? if yes, wat's the damage like?

Hi guys, Water used to leak from inside of the left rear panel of the hatch. After checking, the culprit was found to be a missing rubber seal in the rear lamps. Guess it dropped somewhere when I replaced my bulbs the other day. Got some makeshit rubber seal and now the problem is solved. Need some advise on my rear hatch rubber strip. It seems that both the top corners of the rubber strips are worn out. It looks very dirty and when I push it in, it just springs back and leaves a gap. After washing the car or after some rain, water could be found on top of the rear lamps when the hatch is opened. Is it cheap to change the strips? Any DIY method?

this afternoon..bout lunch time...me went to get a packet of kopi at my usual hangout... and when me came back.. me noticed this light blue latio hatch parallel park suspiciously close to me... he being in front and me behind... me felt something was not right coz he was onli inches away ...so me went to check my front..to see if he had by any chance hit me... as me went to check my front... he started moving off..slowly... me was thinking..damn it..hit and run..useless bugger... so me checked the front thoroughly..noticed that there was no damages then saw his bumper and license plate area it was dented damn blardy ku ku bird...reverse into pple ... and tried to run away... onli to haf his own arse damaged dunnoe whether to laugh or cry but it sure brings a smile to me knowing that..doing a hit and run...u gotto check ur 'target' 1st

CTE lagi best...was behind this silver OPC altis and a red SFB alfa hatch ard 7+pm on the way to town on Tues. It was drizzling and the traffic was start-stop but the opc altis was following the alfa hatch a little too close. But what happened after they went past the PIE exit really takes the cake, the dumbass alfa driver came to complete halt on the extreme right lane of an expressway! A lot of pple behind me had to halt suddenly and after a few secs we began to filter out. (kind of dangerous to be stationary during peak hour highway traffic plus the road was wet) As i filtered to second lane and went past the 2 cars, the moron from the alfa got out and made his way to the altis and started yelling and gesturing... Not sure what happen after that but if some driver from behind took his eyes off the road for a second, when he turns his attention back onto the road, he will not be expecting 2 stationary vehicles on the extreme right lane of CTE during peak hour. Dunno what that dickhead was thinking but getting out of your ride on lane 1 during peak hour CTE to verbally lash the driver who irritated u?? Just think back to the prime mover mowing the civic on the road shoulder accident a few years back. If you know the hatch driver, pls ask him to go for anger mgt therapy and try not to repeat this kind of stunt, tailgater may be in the wrong but don't risk his life like that. If some twit slams into that altis from behind, the alfa driver is a sitting duck if the collision sends the altis towards him.

Hi All, As the above topic suggests. Contemplating between these two cars. The urge to drive a convertible is very high but on the other hand, I think the maintenance costs for the hatch will be lower. Just checking around, what are your opinions on it and if MR-S is a good enough car. Of course, the engine of MR-S is not as fantastic as a normal convertible but what about fuel consumption and etc? Regards.

The Blade hatchback, powered by a 2.4-liter engine, is its highest-class hatchback to date and carries a price tag of 2,247,000 yen (US$19,000) to 2,772,000 yen (US$23,460). The world's second-biggest automaker said the main targets of the Blade are those who have already finished raising their children - a rapidly growing consumer group in aging Japan. The model will be available only in Japan, according to the company. At the launch, Toyota President Katsuaki Watanabe said domestic sales "were slightly behind" last year's unit sales. He said he would speak in more detail at a press conference scheduled for Friday. Analysts say Toyota is on track to surpass General Motors Corp. in the coming years to become the world's No. 1 automaker. Last month, Toyota announced plans to boost global sales to 9.8 million vehicles in 2008. GM sold 9.2 million vehicles worldwide in 2005, the second-largest volume it that company's history.

To the driver of the Orange Civic Hatch (EG) with a black (don't now if it's CF) bonnet and a bluntly loud exhaust note, who has been racing around Bedok, Simei and Tampines for the past week...(I've seen u flooring it so many times) I seriously hope you're reading this of if you happen to know this guy, let him read this message please. For your own safety and the safety of others on the road, please keep your heavy right foot off the public roads and put on some lighter shoes. Keep your revs to the track yah? Many of us I'm sure, including myself, would be more than happy to entertain you there.

Everyone has been drooling over the Hyundai Accent/Verna 3 Dr SR Hatch since it was showcased. The Accent/Verna and Rio are essentially the same car. How about comparing it against the Rio Sport Hatch that was showed in the Frankfurt Motor show ? Personally, I still like the Accent SR much better. Clean lines & smooth styling. The Rio Sport looks a bit too busy. Below are pics for comparison. Spot any similarities or differerences ??? Comments ???
