  1. Some people in another forum have been debating about this. I wonder if there is any merit in the argument. Now with stock suspension, the driveshafts are pitched and this robs the car of torque and horsepower. Now if you lower the car, the driveshafts straighten out therefore allowing more efficient transfer of torque and horsepower to the wheels. Discuss, please.
  2. TT is short for teh tarik. They are trying to gather enough people to go. See the Chevy forum in http://www.autoworld.com.my/forum See if you guys can lend a hand. Maybe more lobangs abound!
  3. Okie, we are here probably we drives a Japanese Car or you love Japanese Cars. Let's see what Japanese Rides have you owned previously. Dun include your continental models. Here's my list: 1) Mitsubishi Lancer GLXi 93 2) Honda Civic ESi 92 3) Subaru Vivio GLi 97 (Current)
  4. Hi guys, Hope you guys can help to check this out. Let's say you are coming up from a long deep slope, say from a basement carpark to ground level. There are many such places, especially shopping centre carparks which is normally at the basement. After coming up from the slope, you might have to stop awhile to check for traffic before turning to the main road. After turning, does your Optra (auto) has a problem changing gears from gear 1 to gear 2? For mine, it seems that the gear 1 would drag, pushing the accelerator further will only increase the rpm and noise without the gear changing. The car also doesn't seems to move faster at this stage. The only thing I could do is to relase the accelerator, brake a little and then try again by pushing the accelerator. This time it will normally change the gears. I noticed this problem especially on very long deep slope, like coming up from B3 of Takashimaya car park. Can you guys help to check... Thanks
  5. Hi everybody! I recently booked my Aveo HB, waiting to collect in March. It's my very first car, so was really quite uncertain before I signed on the dotted line. But it seems to me just from reading this forum that everyone's quite free of complaints abt their car... (Or is it because unhappy people wouldn't be hanging around a Chevy owners' forum??) So just wanted to know how long you've had your ride, and any regrets whatsoever about your choice of cars? And if can go back, would you have chosen another vehicle and which? I know lah, booked liao, so now then ask a bit late. But quite curious mah..
  6. Was looking at installing 1...Anyone know the cost and any feedback from those who already own 1? Prefer those that do as package LCD TV + decoder + receiver + antenna etc...

  9. Dear Subaru owners, I met my SE yesterday to complain about my Subaru's gear problem - unable to smoothly engage my reverse all the time despite of stopping totally, waiting 3-5 sec, engaging 3rd/5th gear (is 3 & 5 the magic numbers?) before engaging reverse gear despite of highlighting the matter to MI. MI supposedly to have solved the problem by replacing the disc plates but when I brought my car to my own mechanic, the gear box is brand new/untouched. I wonder how MI managed to change the disc plates without opening the whole gearbox? SE kept saying this few sentences: 1) I have other customers who do not have this gear problem. I wonder how many? That is why I started this poll. 2) The gear mechanism cannot synchronize properly & Subaru is unable to solve the problem (So now SE acknowledges there is a problem!) I hope you will kindly respond to this poll because I would like to know how many of you suffer from this problem.
  10. whenever we park the car, realised that there's a slight burning smell coming from the tires... smell goes away after a while. is that normal? just got our new car over the weekend. please advise...
  11. Anger, sadness ....... a heavy heart all leading to the Dark Side....... fear..... As you all know, I have changed the oil DIY. I have changed plugs DIY, everything I find that can DIY on the Aveo can be DIY'd. It is a very simple car to maintain with very simple tools. Don't even need to jack up. The suspension is good and high for this. I even looked at the manual tranny and see that it is easy to change the gear oil as well. So far, she is well maintained, fluids that drop every week are topped up with high quality ingredients like 18-Megaohm water for the cooling system. Now with a heavy heart, I have been thinking...... to forgo the A/C warranty. If I can do all these myself. Why should I succumb to the high-handed blackmail they dish out? The car is a great little car. Partly the reason why I bought it is the ease in DIY maintenance. An A/C dryer costs a measely amount of money. If the A/C system fails, I can drive to Mark-Cool to get it fixed for half at 130-140 bucks. The more I look at it, such blackmail by SA should be met with resistance! Compare this to the near 300 bucks and maybe 250 bucks w/o the A/C dryer change. I don't need to give up the car for a whole day and be paralyzed doing nothing, if I choose this path. My decision will come tomorrow morning. I feel like Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane before he was crucified ....... well, NOT! He went through far worse.
  12. Just did that abt an hour ago when driving down Redmond, WA....the car just sits there waiting for an owner.....will go again tomorrow to check the car out
  13. Yes I did it but it was calculated based on a between 1/2 to 3/4 tank with 20L fill-up in JB. Just went in ..... hehehehe thanks Saaber. Covered 300km. The strange thing about this mileage is that I threw away the slow take off and started revving hard to reach cruising speed whenever I got out to the E'way. Whenever I know that after a traffic light is a long stretch non-stop, I will climb up to speed really fast. Use 5th gear when at 60kph. Another thing is that I started avoiding the KJE to PIE stretch every morning since they closed off Jln Lam Sam and Jln Chi Chau, yes no more rally action . Been taking Old CCK to Jln Bahar then turn out to PIE. BTW, do you realize that all the roads starting with "Old" are really nice to drive on? Old Woodlands, Old CCK, Old Jurong. Any other old roads I have failed to mention?
  14. I only have 2 qt left, not enuf for my oil change...thanks

  24. I'm starting off this thread because some people with COE cars have shown interest in what things others have done to keep the car going. Kindly list down the what broke and the repairs you have done. Optional to list amount spent. Also list down the future repairs you have put on hold because it is not life threatening to car and occupants. I will start first with my repairs. 1. Front left ball joint worn. Got both left and right ball joints replaced. - 110 2. Due to the worn ball joint, tire wear was uneven. Took the opportunity to upgrade wheels. Got 14" rims and new tires. - 580 3. Wheels were misaligned and so was the steering wheel. Got them done - 70 4. Drive shafts were weakened and worn due to the worn ball joint. Replaced with remanufactured ones. - 380 5. Again due to the worn ball joint, left brake disc was warped. Was given the option to get new ones or skim the current ones. I got them both skimmed - 50 6. Start brushes worn. Got the whole starter replaced with a remanufactured one. -70 7. Radiator siezed. Completely replaced it. - 380 including coolant. Future repairs of non life threatening nature. 1. Muffler is leaking robbing it of power. Will have to patch it or replace it. 2. Engine is old, looking for Auto-Rx to clean and condition seals before addition of syn oil. 3. Right rear brake light keeps blowing the bulb. May be a water contamination problem.
