  1. Is this considered invasion of privacy? I wonder if they inform the residents before inspecting. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/technology/heady-days-use-of-drones-to-detect-defects-on-hdb-blocks-takes-10599070
  2. Was having a kopitiam discussion and someone express that a more laychay loop hole for subletting is not explore. That is to rent the fate first n then do paperwork of adding more people into the flat via the hdb updates for people staying there. Then the main tanant move out n collect rental income for the room. Is it a must for the main tanant to still stay there if the original tanant can move out and collect more rental from subletting the rooms out?
  3. Just to check if say during the period of december that I want to stay at my mum's place for like 2 weeks, am I allowed to transfer the season parking from my place to my mum's place (subject to availability I guess) for that period of time?
  4. Hi all, Just wondering whats the best thing to do or rather what are my options if i have access in OA account and still servicing a HDB bank loan. Theres about enough to pay 24months of installments in my OA(cos my house is dirt cheap so installment is pretty low) Is there any way i can make advanced payments or clear my OA to decrease the total sum? If yes, is that a smart move? What else can i do with this access? Thanks in advanced guys
  5. Want to get a smart lock and saw this ad online. Have anyone use this before? Should I get it?
  6. I've always wondered about this random HDB block design at Block 5 Banda St in Chinatown... Some floors' staircase landing has a window/opening, while many other don't have. There doesn't seem to be a pattern, and the windows aren't regular as well. As far as I know this is a one-room flat block. Anyone knows why it's designed like that?
  7. This is my first time got no experience selling house. Can someone advice? Before I sell my flat, is it a compulsory for a flat valuation? What will those people see to valuate your house? And any tips that can make them valuate your house higher price...... Thanks !

    Rent out or sell

I have a condo that I just collected the keys and I also have a fully paid HDB. I always wanted to keep the HDB but my Wife wants to move to the condo and rent out the HDB. We are both working. A Property Agent once told me it’s better to sell the HDB as I can unlock more investment potential and choices with the sales proceeds. Further there is accrued interest on the HDB that might turn my sales into a negative sales in the Long run. Need some expert advices. Keep or sell?
  9. Guys, I cant seem to get a definite answer on this. I'm planning to sell my existing place n move nearer to my kids' school. A friend is saying I should take the opportunity to get a HDB resale; as in my wife buy a resale HDB and I buy the condo but each of us has to finance each property individually. Is this allowed?
  10. Any bros experience in this? was hoping to get one for my home gym.. Im not into kick boxing or martial arts. Just wanted one which i can vent out and workout at the same time.. Thks!
  11. Tighter checks on carpark wardens promised by HDB The Straits Times reported that the Housing and Development Board (HDB) has promised to step up its carpark monitoring with tighter checks, after an unsatisfactory report card from the Auditor-General's Office (AGO) on Wednesday. The AGO's annual report found that both statutory boards had been lax in monitoring their parking wardens. Some of these wardens, who were hired under contracts, failed to check all vehicles, others did not turn up for duty at all. 88 surprise checks conducted by the AGO found five instances where patrolling officers were not present at their patrol sites, despite indicating that they were. It also found 26 instances where wardens did not inspect all vehicles in the carparks, although they were required to do so. An HDB spokesman said it will be conducting more checks on wardens to ensure compliance. It will also introduce e-parking systems at "more carparks where it is technically feasible to do so". URA will do the same for all of its 200 off-street carparks where feasible. E-parking systems have already been implemented at 368 of the existing 1,800 HDB carparks. This minimises the need for manual checks by wardens.
  12. Ongoing argument about whether Singaporeans really own their HDB flats, or whether they're just renting them on a lease. One thing that tips the balance in favour of the latter argument is the fact that the HDB has the right to confiscate or repossess your flat if you do something unacceptable in the eyes of HDB, the Big Brother. http://www.asiaone.com/business/what-actually-happens-when-hdb-confiscates-your-flat?xtor=EREC-16-4[Emarsys_Newsletter]-20180102&extid=6934d0cfb7b252f1ae9f0dbddf5ff88ca8637e77
  13. Who is the last resident of the deserted Dakota Crescent estate ? One of Singapore’s oldest housing estates built by Singapore Improvement Trust (SIT), the housing authority before the Housing and Development Board (HDB), in 1958. Today, there are only 15 remaining blocks. These low-rise flats are located at Old Airport Road, right next to Mountbatten Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station. In 2014, Dakota Crescent is being earmarked for redevelopments under Mountbatten’s estate renewal plan and residents are expected to relocate by the end of 2016. The last few residents in Dakota Crescent is none other than ... ... ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evbpBvKgDuU&t=12s

  18. Hello folks, i know mcf a lot of gurus with rich expertise in wealth management, would like to seek some advice. supposedly: - 240k of loan, which will you go for? private or HDB? was told that private is as at 1.2% whileas HDB is at 2.6%. - BTO, intend to sublet 2 units out as will be going malaysia for work. Any concern? - the rental of 2 units will be used to fund the private loan installment. - is it able to take more loan apart from the 240k? could use the extra for renovation and venture. Due future, taking in as no CPF contribution. Will come back once or twice a month. please give your valuable thoughts, thanks
  19. Was planning to get a 5-room BTO this year as my current flat will MOP soon. Was thinking that the new income ceiling came in just nice... until my boss just suddenly gave a pay increment which puts my wife and me just a couple of hundred of dollars over the salary ceiling for BTO. Can I still appeal and has anyone in my circumstances successfully appealed to HDB before?
  20. As the question implies, does anyone know if by going through an in-house loan (dealer or someone else), would HDB be aware of it when you're declaring income looking to buy a HDB/EC? Thanks :)

  23. Hi bro and sis, My scenario is: I just went through HDB cashcard parking system at boon keng without cash card in and out. I forgot to insert in. When I come out of the gantry, there was a "TEEE" on my erp unit and then i went off after the plank lift up. I caught a glace from the display, only the bottom part. It says pls insert cashcard. My question is: 1)Will i get fined via letter? 2)Why did the plank lift up if one doesn't have the cashcard in it? 3)There was an allowance of 10 min/ sunday free parking, is it if within these limits , we can go in and out without cash card? Pls advise. Regards, Sk
  24. Came across this busker at a HDB Town Center. A busker, what's the big deal? Well, the difference with this chap is that his guitar playing and singing was really good! He had some guitar that was plugged to a speaker (which I think was battery powered, since no cables could be seen). He had a mic. The volume was fairly loud - bear in mind this is in the open, unshaded, with plenty of background noise. The best part - people were giving him money, not just coins but notes. In the 1 minute or so of this video, you see 3 onlookers dropping some money into his guitar case. Pretty cool. Wonder what he does for a living. Is he a professional singer and this is his part time job? Here is a video clip where you can see the people giving him money.
