  3. A VAN driver in his 50s died after his vehicle collided with a trailer carrying about 50 steel pipes. Some of the metal pipes came loose, smashed the van's windscreen and hit the driver, who had multiple fractures on his face, according to Chinese evening paper Shin Min Daily News. The incident happened on Monday at 12.10pm on the Kranji Expressway, near the Sungei Tengah exit. The van belonged to a food caterer, reported Shin Min. The crash mangled the front of the van. Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers had to extricate the driver from the vehicle. 4. The Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) gantries at Nicoll Highway and Crawford Street will be relocated in April, as part of changes to the Bugis-Marina Centre cordon. The existing gantry at Republic Boulevard will be removed. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Wednesday that motorists who access East Coast Parkway via Nicoll Highway won't have to pay ERP charges at the Bugis-Marina Centre cordon. Works to relocate the gantries will begin from Thursday and are expected to be completed by mid-April. During this period, motorists will see two separate ERP gantries at the two locations. 11. This morning while exiting from TPE(East bound) to Loyang Ave. Saw someone in civilian cloth using a video recorder with tripod filiming for cars did not queue from single lane that cut to join into 2nd lane (outer right). The exit should be one lane and spilt into 2 lanes near to joining Loyang Ave. As soon as a car did that, he will use his walkie talkie to inform another person station behind to report the car number that comitted the offence.
  12. Hi all, I am planning a trip from Gem island, Trengganu to Penang via Gerik highway. Thinking if I should drive through all the way or to take a break halfway and stay at Bellum Rainforest Resort. Any one stayed there before or drove through from Trengganu to Penang all the way? Blessed day !
  13. HI Bros, Anyone is kind enough to guide me on where is the new Desaru Highway? Should I use Tuas checkpoint or Woodlands ? Can anyone help me? Thanks
  14. Have seen innumerable Sillyporeans road hogging the lane 1 along NS at 110-150km/h when there's a long 'Dragon' following behind. It is damn dangerous when others needs to weave in & out of traffic or overtake using road shoulder. Then there's this 'Kia Se' typo who keeps such a huge distance from the front vehicle that doubt any reigning soccer superstar could do a free kick fm where slow poke is & hit the car in front of it. Lastly, sillyporean (70%) can't seem to know how to drive in the rain, why? At the slight hint of a drizzle, they'll slow down to 70-80km/h on lane 1! All of the above causes huge congestion & inadvertently causes dangerous situations when there'll be overtaking from all sides.
  15. It was a bad day this morning. While my wife was driving (05 Civic) on the extreme left lane on West Coast Highway after turning from Clementi Road. A container trucker was coming down from the flyover. As the 2 roads came close, our car was just beside the truck and it lane change left and hit our right rear passenger door. When my wife noticed that the truck was shifting left towards her, she horn and tried to accelerate but it was too late. The driver then claimed that he did not hear my wife horn, also did not notice our car and has already signal his intention that he was doing a lane change to the left. I was thinking that we were in fault somewhere, and did agreed to a private settle with panel beating instead of insisting changing of doors (other party claimed that it is too expensive and just panel beating will be good enough) since we did not get the driver to write a statement indicating what happened suggesting he was at fault. Since this is our first encounter of an accident, we were caught off guard and did not really know what to do apart from taking photo, video and information of driver and car registration number. Experienced drivers, from this lesson, is there anyway my wife could have evaded the truck or could we insist on the door change? How could we have better managed the situation? Thanks for sharing.
  16. this will teach motorbike a proper road lesson , never overtake a lane changing car from behind http://motoring.asiaone.com/Motoring/News/...4-297704/2.html
  17. Yahoo News : Bull semen spill causes scare, closes U.S. highway NASHVILLE, Tenn (Reuters) - A spill of frozen bull semen bound for a breeder in the state of Texas triggered a scare on Tuesday that temporarily shut down a U.S. interstate highway during the morning rush hour. The incident began when the driver of a Greyhound bus carrying the freight alerted the fire department he had lost a part of his load while negotiating the ramp on a highway near Nashville. "We didn't know what it was, but we were told (the canisters) were non-toxic," said Maggie Lawrence, a fire department spokeswoman. When firefighters arrived on the ramp, they saw "four small propane-sized canisters (that) began to emit a light vapor," Lawrence said. In addition to the vapour, the canisters also let off an unpleasant odour and the ramp was closed while emergency personnel tried to determine what was in the containers. The bus driver turned around to retrieve the canisters. Once emergency personnel learned the smoking canisters were nothing hazardous and that they simply contained frozen bull semen that had been stored on dry ice, Tennessee Department of Transportation and fire department workers cleared the ramp. "It was no different to us than if a mattress fell off a truck," said transportation spokeswoman B.J. Doughty. Hmmmm........ next powerful tools .....

  19. Hi All, from my experience so far..... if all of u want your trip to be jam-less and good. Leave Spore at about 10pm or later on Friday or at the end of the last working day before a long weekend..... for the latter... probably leave even later... like maybe 12am or 1am... that'll will ensure 5mins to clear the custom. Then shoot up to NS Highway.... and at this kind of timing.... police all go home liao.... "bo eng" to do spot check liao... even if kena.... frankly... they really deserve it... since they work so hard... that at such wee hours..... they still have a deep passion to uphold the law.... LOL.
  20. If travelling on a highway at 70km/h on the 2nd lane consider a road hog? I usually drive about 80-90 on the expressway keeping to the road limit. Then sometimes when going up a gradient the car will drop speed cos I usually maintain my pressure on the throttle so as to maintain fuel efficiency. But alot of time there is away an impatient driver behind me flash me high beam and tailgate me. Why can't they just overtake me on the 1st lane since they have alot of money to burn on petrol. Just want to get some feedback, no flaming please.
  21. OMG.... never jaywalk in KL pls. http://news.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne%2BNew...203-250555.html
  22. I was expressing my interest in an STi for jaunts up north, to Sepang and as well as for touring Peninsular Malaysia in general. But some of my colleagues (performance car drivers among them) said that TC cannot sustain cruising for high speeds for long duration. Is this true? I mean, I'm sure this applies for running at close to max speed and at max boost but how about reasonable speeds like about 160-180km/h? nowhere near top speed. In any case, there's plenty of air being forced into the radiator and whatnot at that kind of speed. not to mention the huge air scoop on the bonnet. I know an STi is not the perfect car for touring, but the question is, why can't it do the job? Or are my colleagues mistaken? I intend to mod it a bit when I get mine, nothing too extreme, maybe 400+bhp will be more than enuff. I'm not gunning for monster drag car. besides, tires are expensive
  23. Has anyone seen learner drivers on the expressways? I was travelling on SLE towards CTE near the Thomson Rd exit and there was this SSDC Honda City (the old ugly one) travelling in the middle lane at about 70 km/h. It was about 9 pm and the driver was a bit unsteady. After overtaking, I saw 2 men in the car. Clearly the driver was the learner. Are learner drivers now allowed to drive on expressways? Or could it be an orientation/conversion lesson? The driver was certainly a bit kayu and almost swerved from lane 2 to lane 1.
  24. http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...&sec=nation Guess one the worst accident along NS highway. Luckily no one from Sg was involved.
