  1. There is a saying that goes like this: "If you are not angry when you drive, you are the one making others angry." It is true to a certain extent, except that it is more towards being annoyed than being angry. However, for this particular taxi driver, he may have taken that quote a bit too far. Watch the video below to see how he expresses his anger towards a fellow motorist: Warning: The following video features plenty of Hokkien vulgarities, voice cracking and inaudible shouting. Watch it at your own risk! What Happened? The incident occurred along Jalan Sultan. Apparently, the Honda Odyssey driver cut from the extreme left to the extreme right lane (taxi driver's lane) without checking and almost caused an accident. The Honda driver's behaviour angered the taxi driver, which prompted the taxi driver to honk him. Unhappy at being honked at, the Honda driver stopped in the middle of the road, impeding the path of the taxi driver. Subsequently, both drivers alighted from their cars, and they began to exchange a series of glorious expletives. Below is a brief and translated version of their confrontation: A Mere Coincidence? IMO, the taxi driver ain't no angel either. It feels as if he was out to pick a fight with the Honda Odyssey driver for cutting into his lane. And somehow, there wasn't any footage of the Honda driver performing what the taxi driver claimed he did. That's a bit too coincidental, isn't it? Netizens' Comments Seems like the taxi driver was seizing the opportunity to vent his frustration on the Honda Odyssey driver. Sorry, I snickered at this comment. @Honda Odyssey driver Pls upload your dashcam footage. ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! 2. This Vin Diesel lookalike takes ‘no chill’ to the next level when he gets honked for driving recklessly. In this video, a driver was on his way to work when he meets a short-tempered and illogical Vin Diesel (SG version). The video starts with the cam car driver making a left turn on Circuit Road. He notices a white Honda CRV cutting across the double white lines as he does so. The white vehicle aims for the right lane (aka the one the cam car driver was already on) as it slides across the road like a seal into the ocean. Not wanting to be hit by the CRV, the cam car driver presses his horn to alert the other driver of his presence. This triggers the driver, who has not made it entirely into the lane yet but was ready to throw hands in the middle of the road. After adjusting his car’s position, the bald bold driver gets out of his car and starts one of the shortest confrontations I have ever seen. He glares threateningly at the cam car before waving his hands madly and scolding the driver for honking at him. After 5 seconds, he gets off his high horse and angrily returns to his vehicle. Honestly, I don’t know how some drivers can have such high egos when they are so blatantly in the wrong. Guessing game: How many demerit points does this driver deserve? Firstly, crossing double white lines is not allowed in Singapore. Drivers found guilty will receive a $150 fine and 4 demerit points. Secondly, drivers who fail to give way to oncoming traffic at a controlled or uncontrolled junction will receive a fine of up to $200 and 4 demerit points. Thirdly, drivers who fail to indicate or provide warning signals while driving will receive a fine of up to $150. Fourthly, while the confrontation only lasted about 5 seconds, it is still considered an act of road rage. According to the law, road rage happens when the driver, or passengers, alight from their vehicles to harm each other in a moment of anger. Offenders will receive a fine of up to $5,000 or an imprisonment term of up to 12 months. Lastly, drivers found guilty of careless driving will receive a fine of up to $250 and 6 demerit points. If we add all of these charges together, our burly Vin Diesel might be looking at a fine of up to $900 and 14 demerit points (not inclusive of road rage). 3. Because there’s nothing more Christmas-sy than getting a surprise visit from the TP. In a video posted on Christmas Day, a reckless Honda Civic driver decided to make his own Fast and Furious sequel on the TPE. With the cam car travelling in the middle lane, the driver caught the white Honda Civic dashing through the (snow) roads on the first lane. The white car swiftly overtook its left silver taxi, squeezing itself just in front of the cam car. The driver then recklessly cut in front of the taxi and sped up, with its left indicator shining strongly in the night. The Honda’s crazy antics led to a few drivers slowing down on the middle lane. Surprisingly, the taxi didn’t waver once throughout the whole ordeal. Speeding and overtaking on the left? All jokes aside, the way this Honda Civic driver drove on the expressway is perilous and reckless. In Singapore, the speed limit for expressways and tunnels ranges from 80 to 90 km/h. Judging from the video, it looks like the Civic was doing more than the limit. Drivers who exceed the speed limit by 40km/h or less will be issued a fine ranging from $130 to $170 and up to 8 demerit points. On the other hand, drivers who exceed the speed limit by more than 40 km/h will have to be prosecuted in court. They will also be issued up to 24 demerit points. While overtaking on the left is not illegal, it is not recommended unless a road hog blocks the rightmost lane. Even so, overtaking on the left requires the middle and left lanes to be mostly unoccupied. Switching lanes and slotting yourself in spaces between two lanes is unsafe and could result in an accident if other drivers are not alert enough. 4. Kudos to the Honda Shuttle for not falling victim to this Mercedes driver’s antics! With 2022 drawing near, this Mercedes driver decides to pull one last trick out of his sleeve to end his year with a bang. In this video, a cam car is driving in the middle lane towards Paya Lebar Road. A silver Honda Shuttle is traveling right in front of him. After both vehicles pass a junction, the Shuttle shifts to the left lane. The Mercedes in front of it quickly mirrors his actions, blocking the silver vehicle. Here's a close up of the action: Determined, the Shuttle quickly merges to the middle lane. However, to the driver’s dismay, the Mercedes manages to copy his actions and shifts to the right as well. The Honda Shuttle immediately hits the brakes to avoid bumping into the Mercedes, narrowly missing the vehicle by a hair’s length. Here's a close up of the action: The cam car slows down and merges to the right lane, where the Mercedes can be seen blocking the Shuttle’s path. What is a brake check? Brake checking is the act of sharply hitting the brakes whilst driving to make an unsuspecting driver behind slam on his brakes or swerve out of the way to avoid an accident. Perpetrators can then make insurance claims against the victim, with the common thought that the insurance companies would fault the victim for not leaving enough space to react or brake in the event of an emergency. In Singapore, brake checking is an offence and anyone who purposefully brake checks will be fined by the TP. Victims can file for insurance claims, no matter what had happened before the brake check. Netizens’ reactions Exactly! No matter what has happened before this incident, there is no excuse for brake checking. It is simply a douche move! 😤 I hope the TP catches this guy before he actually causes an accident. 😭 ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! 5. Hi Guys, This morning side mirror got hits by a Goods Truck and one of the side mirror cannot open up anymore. The mechanism inside have broken as it's causing some gear noise on one side of the mirror. How much will it cost to replace the side mirror with led side indicator and spray paint. (White) I want Original Parts ... Any place which I can call up for a quote? Thanks Guys ~
  6. It is a common sight for drivers to perform a lane change, a turn or a U-turn without using their signal indicator. One may feel it is a minor issue that these inconsiderate drivers behave this way until this happens: What Happened? When this accident occurred, the cam bike was riding along Tampines Walk just outside Our Tampines Hub. A grey Honda Shuttle was driving in front of the cam bike, LITERALLY hovering in between 2 lanes. At this point, the cam bike decided to perform an overtaking manoeuvre by overtaking the Honda Shuttle on its right. Just then, the Honda Shuttle does an unexpected (and illegal) U-turn without signalling. Unable to react accordingly, the cam bike smashed into the side of the Honda Shuttle. Judging how the Honda Shuttle driver drives, he either forgot to put up his P-Plate, or he doesn't give a shit about other road users. The Aftermath A mere $200 fine for this Honda Shuttle, along with the repair fees of the motorcycle/motorcyclist's insurance claim, seems unjust for his actions. Drivers like the Honda Shuttle driver should be off our roads! Netizens' Comments What a senseless comment. This should be a lesson for this P-plate biker to become a more defensive rider. Can take Grab/Gojek or not? LOL. ======== Receive a $10 PayNow for every submission we publish on Facebook! Simply WhatsApp us ➡️https://bit.ly/3c6JERA
  7. Cars that run on hydrogen and exhaust only water vapor are emerging to challenge electric vehicles as the world’s transportation of the future. At auto shows on two continents Wednesday, three automakers unveiled hydrogen fuel cell vehicles to be delivered to the general public as early as next spring. Hyundai Motor Co. will be the first to the mass market in the U.S. It unveiled a hydrogen-powered Tucson small SUV at the Los Angeles Auto Show that will be leased to consumers. Honda also revealed plans in Los Angeles for a car due out in 2015. Earlier, at the Tokyo Motor Show, Toyota promised a mass-produced fuel cell car by 2015 in Japan and 2016 in the U.S. Hydrogen cars are appealing because unlike electric vehicles, they have the range of a typical gasoline car and can be refueled quickly. Experts say the industry also has overcome safety and reliability concerns that have hindered distribution in the past. But hydrogen cars still have a glaring downside — refueling stations are scarce, and costly to build. Consumers can expect costs in line with some luxury models. In Tokyo, Toyota promised a price of $50,000 to $100,000, and as close to the lower figure as possible. That’s comparable to its Lexus luxury sedans, but a range that makes the once space-age experiment with fuel cells more credible. Hyundai said it will lease the Tucsons for $499 per month for three years with $3,000 down. And Hyundai is offering to pay the hydrogen and maintenance costs. The company will start leasing in the Los Angeles area, where most of the state’s nine fueling stations are located. California lawmakers have allocated $100 million to build 100 more. Honda wouldn’t reveal any pricing details. Even as battery-powered and hybrid-electric cars took on conventional gasoline models in the past decade, automakers continued research into hydrogen fuel cells, said Paul Mutolo, director of external partnerships for the Cornell University Energy Materials Center. Manufacturers now are limited only by costs and the lack of filling stations, he said. Hydrogen cars, Mutolo said, have an advantage over battery-powered electric cars because drivers don’t have to worry about running out of electricity and having to wait hours for recharging. “It’s very similar to the kind of behavior that drivers have come to expect from their gasoline cars,” he said. Hydrogen fuel cells use a complex chemical process to separate electrons and protons in hydrogen gas molecules. The electrons move toward a positive pole, and the movement creates electricity. That powers a car’s electric motor, which turns the wheels. Since the hydrogen isn’t burned, there’s no pollution. Instead, oxygen also is pumped into the system, and when it meets the hydrogen ions and electrons, that creates water and heat. The only byproduct is water. A fuel cell produces only about one volt of electricity, so many are stacked to generate enough juice. Hydrogen costs as little as $3 for an amount needed to power a car the same distance as a gallon of gasoline, Mutolo said. 8. The next-gen hot hatch will still stand out in a crowd. The last couple of days have been busy in the Civic Type R world. Honda shared some "spy" photos, and then we caught video of the car in action sporting a single janky exhaust pipe. Not to fear, hot Honda fans – that pipe was just for testing purposes. A new round of decidedly unofficial Type R spy shots feature another red-wrapped prototype with all its production components, including the triple exhaust finishers out the back. Whereas Honda offered up just a pair of photos, our spy photographer grabbed 14 as the prototype went by. We already know the next Type R won't be as flamboyant as the outgoing model, but these shots offer a bit more context as to just what that entails. The front fascia features a large lower intake flanked by a pair of side intakes that look clean and aggressive without being shouty. The theme continues along the sides where we see rocker trim with a winglet in front of the rear wheel, similar to the current model. The biggest difference comes at the rear. Yes, that spoiler is large and in-charge, but barring clever panels hiding vents under the camo wrap (which actually is a menagerie of Rs when you look close), we'll have a modest pair of side vents flanking the center-exit exhaust. It's a far cry from the current Type R with its large corner vents and a plethora of contrasting angles. As for what's under the skin, expect to see a tweaked version of the current 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, turning just the front wheels with a six-speed manual. A slight bump in power is virtually guaranteed, but with front-wheel drive enduring as the order of the day, don't expect much more than the current Type R's 306 hp (228 kilowatts). The wrap should come off sometime next year as a 2023 model. More photos for your imagination.
  9. It was back in August when Acura confirmed the surprising return of the "Integra" moniker, but parent company Honda is actually the first to revive the fabled moniker for a production car. Meet the confusingly named 2022 Honda Integra, a Chinese compact sedan molded after the eleventh-generation Civic. Coming from the Guangqi Honda joint venture in the People's Republic, the Integra will be assembled in Guangzhou whereas the Civic upon which is based comes from the factory in Wuhan (yes, that Wuhan) belonging to the Dongfeng Honda joint venture. The two flavors are largely identical, but the new Acura version does look sleeker courtesy of its slimmer matrix LED headlights flanking a slightly larger grille with a honeycomb pattern. The changes continue at the back where the LED taillights adopt a sharper look and occupy less space on the tailgate. Dual exhaust tips and a subtle trunk lid spoiler contribute to the Honda Integra's youthful appearance, as does the faux diffuser bisected by the built-in fog light. Fresh colors like Emerald Blue and Fiery Yellow separate it from the regular Civic, and there are new wheel designs up to 18 inches in size. There are no interior images at the moment of writing, but we're expecting the cabin to be essentially carried over from the Civic. The engines are also a mystery for now, although the "240 Turbo" badge on the trunk lid indicates the car has 240 Nm (177 lb-ft), which is exactly what the 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine develops in the Civic where it sends 180 hp to the front wheels via a CVT. The CN-spec Integra gets a six-speed manual, much like the Civic Hatchback.
  10. This Honda driver's friend has set the standards when it comes to helping a brother out in a time of need. In the video, a black Honda is driving along a road when the driver suddenly realises something important - he had forgotten to display his P-plate at the back of the car. Not wanting to risk getting caught by the authorities (yes, failure to display a P-plate is an offence), his friend comes up with an ingenious plan. Now, I'm not sure about what the rest of you guys think but I'd say it's a pretty solid plan. While the P-plates in Singapore do come with velcro tape (in a new package), it has been speculated that the driver might not actually own the car that he's driving and that it could belong to a relative or a car rental service. In Singapore, a failure to display a P-plate for new drivers is an offence. A fine will be issued for first-time offenders and repeat offenders will have their license revoked. So, if you're a P-plater, don't forget to check for both plates at the front and back of your car before driving off! Netizens' reactions I'm not condoning using your friend as a personal P-plate holder but in a pinch, it works pretty great until you can find an MSCP to hide in and properly fix the plate on the inside of the car. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 11. This Honda road bully blocks the path of a large bus, randomly stops in the middle of the road several times and ends up getting rear-ended. There is nothing more annoying than a road hogger on a busy road, and that is what this poor bus driver had to experience. The video starts with the Honda driving slowly down the left lane, blocking the path of the bus driver. Annoyed with the car's behaviour, a man beside the driver is heard commenting "Just don't jam brakes. If not, I fall down leh.". As both vehicles approach the traffic junction, the car suddenly stops with its hazard lights on. In an attempt to warn the car's driver, the bus driver presses his horn. However, the car remains still, which earns it a series of honks from other upset drivers as well. The bus driver chimes in with two long honks, which pushes the car to finally move off. The Honda enters the junction, swerves right, before switching back to the left lane quickly. At the same moment, the car is seen braking suddenly as the bus moves forward. This leads to the bus hitting the yellow car from the back with a loud crash, which pushes it further up the lane. At the last second, the car's driver angrily gets out of his vehicle to confront the bus driver. Is road hogging an offence? According to the LTA and the Traffic Police, road hogging is considered an offence in Singapore. Drivers who drive in such a manner as to obstruct vehicles from moving at a faster speed will receive a fine of up to $1,000, an imprisonment term of 3 months and 4 demerit points. For repeated offenders, they will receive a fine of up to $2,000, an imprisonment term of 6 months and 4 demerit points. Netizens' reactions From the video, it is clear that the yellow car is the aggressor as the driver purposely stalls the flow of traffic and recklessly changes lanes (and jams on his brakes) without any warning. 😒 I hope that the TP sees this and invites him for a nice long kopi session soon. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 12. What do you do when you are rushing for time (for whatever reason), and the odds are stacked against you? Watch how this Honda Shuttle "skips" a red light by taking a shortcut: What happened? This incident took place along Corporation Road, at the junction of Yung Sheng Road. In the dashcam footage, a red Honda Shuttle is seen driving aggressively behind the cam car. Moments later, as the Honda Shuttle approaches the red traffic light, he slows down abruptly. And just when you think he is about to come to a complete stop... He decides to swerve to the nearby filter lane, perform an illegal U-Turn, and go to another filter lane to "skip" that red light (Intelligence +10). Thinking out of the box Undoubtedly, this driver possesses quick thinking and decisive skills, which are used for the wrong reasons. Like the one featured in the video, such manoeuvres should not be performed as they are purely reckless and hazardous to other road users. Exploiting a loophole? According to Chapter 276, Section 112 Part IV No. 54 of the Road Traffic Act, crossing a single continuous white line is allowed only when the road ahead is clear. Don't be mistaken, this is no loophole. What the driver doesn't realise is the fact that he did not obey traffic directions as indicated. Although it is uncertain how many offences he committed, I am pretty sure he has committed at least 1 offence from the "skip traffic light" Jutsu. Netizens' comments Yup, from the looks of it I am sure this is not his first time. Someone forgot about the 9th SAF core value - "Don't get caught" Judging by the way he drives, the sai sure at custom already. Well, what do you think of his actions? And what offence do you think he committed? --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 13. Not too sure what's the context of the video below but it's been circulating in car groups and WhatsApp chats since this morning. Asking for it In this short 20-second clip, a wrecked car with a popped-up bonnet ran headfirst into the rear of a stationary Honda Civic. According to online sources, this incident occurred at Midview City. Considering the number of repair shops located there, online chatter suggests that a workshop personnel was behind the wheel of that wrecked vehicle. Moments of convenience, hundreds (or thousands) of dollars in claims The real question here - Is it even legal to drive this wrecked car around at all? Although it may be a short distance to a nearby workshop within Midview City's compound, the car's condition suggests that it would have been unwise to drive it. Given its current state, it should be towed to the workshop directly. See lah, kay kiang drive this damaged car around, now kena accident. Some people might say that the Honda Civic should have parked his car at a proper parking lot instead of alongside the road. However, it may be ridiculous to attribute any fault to the Honda Civic for this silly accident. Regardless, I hope the Honda Civic's owner can claim for the damages. Netizens' comments Was it worth it tho?😪 HA HA HA. Don't anyhow bring in cyclists, it is a sensitive topic. There's not even a single bicycle in sight. All the best to the Civic driver. 14. Upon hearing "wrap", people usually associate it with vinyl wrapping which is pretty common these days. Wrapping not only protects the paintwork but also allows the revamping of the vehicle's appearance. However, the "wrap" on this Honda Shuttle is not what we expect it to be... Watch this 13-seconds video to find out what is "wrapped" on this Honda Shuttle's rooftop: What happened? In this bizarre occurrence, a reticulated python (One of Singapore's most common snake types) is spotted on the roof of a slow-moving Honda Shuttle. You can see the driver's concerned look upon realising that he had somehow attracted a group of passersby, who were filming him for god knows why. The short clip ends with the Honda Ssssshuttle driver still unaware of the situation and driving off with the python still on its roof. What a snakey (sneaky) python!! Filming isn't the utmost priority Yes yes, I know. If filming was not the priority, I wouldn't even have a blog post to publish at all. Well, I may be no expert, but the logical action from those passersby should be to alert and stop the driver. Otherwise, the python might fall off and end up as roadkill. Or worse, it may fall onto the road and subsequently cause motorists to swerve away from it. Netizens' comments What a pity that whipping out your smartphone to film is the first priority during such situations. Tell me about it. I bet he was thinking "Ji pai siao liao", which translates to "this time siao/crazy already". Why you gotta be so savage? Public Service Announcement 1. 15. TL;DR – Video footage of a Honda Stream cutting through tight pocket of spaces on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) makes one think of a particular Malay supernatural character. What is an Orang Minyak? For the benefit of people who are not familiar with the term, the direct translation for ‘Orang Minyak’ is ‘Oily man.’ Image by Deviant Art It is a supernatural being with a strong coat of oil/grease that can slip through any cracks or holes in your home. Back to the Honda Stream Like the Orang Minyak, the Honda stream in this minute-long video slips through small pockets of space between cars like butter. Here’s the video: Hold up, can an MPV do that? Well, the classification of the Honda Stream is technically a COMPACT MPV, but that doesn’t mean it’s small. Image by sgCarMart.com The only reason it could manage such a feat - The other motorists let it. At this moment here. And here. If the cam car or the car in front had decided to f#$% around with the Honda Stream, they could have accelerated, and the Stream would have hit them for a nice insurance pay out. 16. https://www.autoevolution.com/news/modern-honda-integra-type-r-rendering-joins-n-a-engine-with-manual-transmission-166793.html?fbclid=IwAR07jJkxfEycqWRW84-x3mAScratQnf-Udp5LeDjhzhgR0TONDIIOUpOFwQ# Sold by Acura in the United States, the Integra Type R is considered a driver’s car. Some people describe the DC2 as the best-handling FWD car ever produced, and I can certainly understand their lyrical waxing. Offered with rectangular headlights in Japan and with round headlights outside of the Land of the Rising Sun, the Integra Type R left a lasting impression on a generation of enthusiasts from all over the world. One detail that Honda got perfectly right is the B18C5, a legendary powerplant that revs beyond 8,000 revolutions per minute, even 8,700 for the British spec. The ultra-collectible Type R is rocking a close-ratio manual transmission with five gears rather than six, a helical-type LSD, a strengthened chassis that reduces body roll in the corners, reduced sound insulation, lighter wheels, and a thinner windshield than the Si, GS-R, and SiR-G variants. Capable of anything between 187 to 197 horsepower depending on the market, the DC2 is universally known for punching well above its weight. Offered in four exterior colors over a black interior, the Integra Type R numbers only 3,823 units in the United States of America. To understand just how desirable this fellow is nowadays, let’s just say that a 1997 model has recently sold at auction for $65,000 at no reserve. By comparison, the original window sticker read $24,000 ($40,630 after adjusting for inflation). A huge fan of the Integra Type R, industrial designer Jordan Rubinstein-Towler has taken upon himself to imagine the DC2 for the 2022 model year. The bite-the-back-of-your-hand beautiful rendering is complemented by a 2.4-liter Earth Dreams i-VTEC powerplant, and in the pixel wizard’s vision, the four-pot motor develops 276 horsepower at 8,600 rotations per minute. Pictured on Enkei forged wheels and Bridgestone Potenza semi-slick rubber, the design study is reassuringly minimalistic on the inside. There’s no centrally-mounted touchscreen to distract you from the driving experience, and instead of a fast-shifting DCT, the center console is where you’ll find a close-ratio manual with a billet-looking shifter and six ratios. Don’t get your hopes up for a brand-new Integra Type R, though. Honda is currently working on a compact sedan the size of the ILX, and a Type S performance-oriented variant is coming as well according to a dealership meeting from 2020. Be that as it may, the all-new Civic Type R is more than enough for Honda because go-faster compacts don’t sell well these days.
  17. Honda wants to electrify two-thirds of its lineup worldwide by 2030, which means that future performance vehicles from the brand could eventually be EVs. Hideki Kakinuma, the Honda Civic Type R project leader, talked to Motor Trend about what might happen: "Yes, of course, an electric Type R is possible." He indicated that the major challenge was offering the necessary performance at a reasonable price. "If all the base concept and philosophy of being a Type R is fulfilled with an electric powertrain … sure, this can happen," Kakinuma told Motor Trend. Before getting too excited about the Type R EV, it's worth reading Kakinuma's statement to Motor1.com about the future of the Type R badge. "The ‘R’ in Civic Type R has always stood for racing, so expanding into something like an SUV or crossover doesn’t make sense," Kakinuma told us. "The Civic is currently the only vehicle in the Honda lineup to meet our requirements of what a Type R needs to be." Rumors suggest that the next-gen Civic Type R could adopt a hybrid powertrain because it offers the expected driving dynamics while improving emissions. Opting for a full EV isn't the plan, yet. If an electric Type R happens, then the new Honda E could be the first to wear the moniker. "Well, this new platform, the motor and tires can all take more," Honda Assistant Large Project Leader Takahiro Shinya told Top Gear in January. "What I can say is we love Type R, it’s such a strong halo brand for us. As engineers, we want to make Type R of every model, but it’s whether the customer wants it that matters." The standard Honda E packs an electric motor powering the rear axle that's available with either 136 horsepower (100 kilowatts) or 154 hp (113 kW), and bother variants make 232 pound-feet (315 Newton-meters) of torque. A 35.5-kilowatt-hour battery offers 137 miles (220 kilometers) on a charge. In Germany, prices start at €33,470 before incentives, and the Advance trim with more power goes for an additional €3,000. Deliveries in Europe start this summer. https://www.motor1.com/news/400319/honda-electric-type-r-rumor/
  18. The driver of a yellow Honda fit attempted to evade carpark payment but ended up failing and was confronted by the driver of the white Skoda Octavia he was tailgating instead. Here's the video This incident took place at the carpark of Takashimaya. In the video, the yellow Honda Fit tries to evade parking fees by tailgating a white Skoda Octavia. But the driver of the Octavia was having none of it and intentionally blocked the Honda Fit. Leaving it awkwardly stuck under the gantry arm. The Skoda driver then exits his car in agitation while walking towards the Honda Fit to confront the driver. Noteworthy: There is an ongoing promotion for 2 hours of free parking at Ngee Ann City, with no minimum spend. Is it worth committing a parking offence over that few dollars? If guilty of tailgating at an EPS exit gantry to avoid payment, the Honda Fit driver could face a $70 fine. Repeat offenders may be charged in court. Netizens' comments The conclusion seems to be clear-cut 🤐 Undoubtedly, there has been an increased occurrence of payment evasion offences, with these offences being committed by tailgating the front vehicle. Here are some recent cases of payment evasion: Mitsubishi Lancer tailgating camcar out of carpark Hyundai Avante tailgating and got confronted by camcar Toyota Sienta tailgating camcar out of SuperBowl Jurong carpark However, the most unusual occurrence of payment evasion belongs to this purple Volkswagen Scirocco. TBH, I am damn puzzled as to why the driver damaged his Scirocco to evade paying his carpark fees. The math just does not add up. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. We’ll even give you $100 cash if you find a better offer elsewhere! 19. Honda's a genius in churning out state-of-the-art small cars. Here's why. The 2014 Honda Jazz is 4cm shorter but it offers 138 liters more cabin-space volume and nearly 13cm of extra rear legroom - compared to the predecessor. Here's how Honda engineers eked out extra room in a shorter car. For starters, Jazz's wheelbase has been stretched further apart by 3cm allowing its rear seat bench to move back outwardly by 7.6cm. Next, engineers made the centrally-mounted fuel tank located beneath the front seats thinner liberating more space for passengers but retains the same liter-volume as previous models. Plus, the new Jazz could be served in a hedonic shade of lemonade yellow to go with its packaging.
  20. Hi there, my Honda Civic is going to reach 10 years next June. I am thinking of extending the COE, but some say might as well get a new car because of my car's high mileage (already 180,000km). Any advice on which would be better? I am thinking of extending the COE because my usage has dropped quite a lot in the last 2 years (don't need to send wife to work or kids to school anymore), and I send the car to Koh Motors for servicing regularly, so I thought the car can tahan another 5 years. Thanks!
  21. The video footage is from a cam car, which was also involved in the chain collision. This accident happened on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) towards Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) before Exit 12, causing a massive jam. In the video, a white Audi A3 Cabriolet performed an emergency brake just before the cam car slams into its rear. Moments after that, an over-turned Honda Jazz slid along lane 2 of the expressway. What exactly happened? A top-down view of the accident revealed that four vehicles were involved in the chain collision. It turns out that the Audi A3 Cabriolet performed an emergency brake because of the car in front of it. However, it remains unclear why the front car braked so abruptly, causing this accident. There are speculations that the Honda Jazz swerved out of the lane to avoid this chain collision. As a result, it turned turtle from the sudden shift in weight balance. A 7-month-old girl and two men were conveyed to the hospital after this chain collision. Netizens' comments As always, please drive safely and practice defensive driving at all times. We hope that all those involved in the accident are well and wishing them a speedy recovery. --- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 22. The 2024 Honda Prologue EV was developed with help from GM. source: https://www.motortrend.com/news/2024-honda-prologue-electric-suv The slow drip of information about the new electric SUVs coming from the Honda and Acura brands continues with this latest droplet from the information faucet: the higher-volume Honda model will bear the name Prologue. The 2024 Honda Prologue is due to arrive in 2024, and its name signifies its role as the forerunner of a series of new, high-volume, battery electric vehicles from the Japanese brand. This includes a luxury, performance SUV for Acura, which is also slated to go on sale in 2024. No name for the Acura has been revealed yet. Call the GM Both the Honda Prologue and its Acura counterpart, as well as the two vehicles' battery systems, are being developed in partnership with General Motors. The two SUVs will use GM's flexible BEV3 electric vehicle architecture and Ultium battery management system—the same system used in the likes of the forthcoming 2022 GMC Hummer EV full-size pickup, the 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV, the Chevrolet Silverado electric pickup truck, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq SUV, and the Cadillac Celestiq sedan, not to mention a number of other future GM EV models. The point of all this sharing is to create scale, which brings down the costs of various EV components, including batteries, for both GM and Honda. Co-development also means shared costs, and the Honda and Acura SUVs will be built in a GM plant in North America that's specifically tooled for EV production. This ought to further spread out and lower manufacturing costs. The Prologue is rumored to be built at GM's Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico, while the Acura EV will come out of GM's Spring Hill plant in Tennessee, which is currently being retooled to make EVs such as the Cadillac Lyriq. Same Bones, Different Looks Despite sharing many mechanical pieces, both GM's and Honda's EVs will look very different. The styling of the bodies and interiors of these vehicles will come from each automakers' respective design studio. We've been told the upcoming Honda Prologue was designed at Honda's design studio in Los Angeles to meet the expectations of North American customers. There are few details about these upcoming North American-focused Honda and Acura electric SUVs. Both could be larger, three-row family utility vehicles that are specific to the North American market or the two could be smaller models aimed at tapping into several markets. Gardner only noted that the Prologue is designed to be highly competitive, with the functionality required to meet diverse needs. Anticipated annual sales volume is expected to fall somewhere between the Honda Passport mid-size SUV, of which 22,000 units have sold through May 2021 in the United States, and the three-row Honda Pilot SUV, of which Honda sold 62,000 such models in the first five months of the year. The Honda and Acura models are being designed to stay true to each brands' respective DNA: mainstream for Honda, performance for Acura. Honda Plans to Make Its Own EVs and Batteries The Honda Prologue and its still-unnamed Acura counterpart will use GM's flexible EV architecture, but Honda plans to launch a new series of EV models in the second half of the decade based on its own, forthcoming, "e:Architecture". To be profitable, Honda knows it also needs to make its own batteries in North America. "Other markets around the world have a more robust battery production industry and that has to happen here in North America to go forward to achieve the goals of hitting the volumes that everybody is looking to do," Gardner said. He declined to provide a timeframe. Honda is doing its own independent research on solid-state batteries. The industry is pursuing solid-state batteries for the technology's ability to provide a greater driving range, as well as its reduced costs. Honda will have a "demonstration line" to begin testing the tech this fiscal year as it aims to make solid-state batteries available by the end of the decade. Honda's EV History Honda is a bit of a laggard in the battery electric vehicle game, choosing to rely on its two-motor hybrid system for electrification instead. The Japanese carmaker lacks a dedicated electric vehicle for the North American market. Past EVs, including the Fit EV, the FCX Clarity fuel cell sedan, and the latest Clarity EV, have all been discontinued in the U.S. Honda may be a leader in efficient vehicles with internal combustion engines (and its history with electric vehicles dates back decades), but the automaker has not been perceived as an EV leader in recent years, Gardner admitted. Honda's New Global Electric Vehicle Targets Now the automaker is playing catchup with a pledge by Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe to become carbon neutral by 2050. In major markets, including North America, the target is for BEV or fuel cell electric vehicles to account for 40 percent of sales by 2030; 80 percent by 2035; and 100 percent by 2040. Gardner would not say how much Honda is investing in EVs other than to note R&D spending for the next six years will be 10 percent higher than in previous years. In the near term, Honda's strategy is to introduce a higher percentage of gasoline-electric hybrids in its model mix. "We know people who have a good experience with a hybrid are likely to buy a BEV," Gardner said. Building more hybrids in North America will help Honda prepare to make EVs in the future. Currently, Honda builds the Accord, CR-V, and Insight hybrids in the U.S. Gardner would not share if Honda will join the electric pickup craze by adding electric motors and a battery pack to the Ridgeline pickup. Fuel Cell and Autonomous Vehicle Work Continues Honda's larger EV strategy includes continuing to work with GM on fuel cells. Honda has also been working in partnership with GM and its autonomous vehicle brand Cruise since 2018. Cruise is preparing to launch the Cruise Origin robotaxi. The Japanese automaker will use the bones of the Origin for its own autonomous vehicle, which will feature a body and interior designed by Honda. Honda also announced a joint venture with Hitachi to make electric motors. Some Honda and Hitachi suppliers have merged to develop components for EVs and automated vehicles. In China, Honda formed an alliance with Chinese battery maker CATL, and the first CATL batteries will go into a Chinese-market electric vehicle next year. Here's the teaser.
  23. After killing off the Clarity EV last year, Honda is ending production of its hydrogen fuel-cell and plug-in hybrid Clarity models this summer, Autoblog has reported. The decision reportedly came due to weak demand and Honda's new focus on electrification, according to Nikkei. The Clarity fuel-cell vehicle was handicapped in the US from the get-go with a high $71,200 price tag and a lack of hydrogen refueling infrastructure in the US. With the end of the Clarity EV, PHEV and fuel-cell models, Honda is currently building no electrified models at all in the US. However, the company said that it will build enough Clarity fuel-cell models for lessees into 2022 and will provide support for the foreseeable future. Honda previously announced that it would release an electric car for 2024 and plans to only sell zero-emissions EVs by 2040. Those could include EVs, but Honda hasn't given up yet on hydrogen either, having struck a deal with GM to develop fuel cell vehicles. However, most hydrogen in the US is made by reforming natural gas, so the fuel still releases greenhouses gases even though only water comes out a fuel-cell vehicle's tailpipe.
