  1. hope they will do it in tonight's rally as i am going.
  2. another insulting comment from the elite.
  3. I copied this from another forum, not sure if the transcript is accurate or not, if not accurate pls don't flame me. Mr Seah Yin Hwa, 25, a fourth-year NUS engineering student who lives in Hougang SMC, asked the Prime Minister about upgrading programmes for opposition-held wards, and if not getting to benefit from the government scheme means he can pay less tax. Mr Seah: Good evening, Mr Lee. Just like many people in the audience, I serve my NS, and when I graduate this year, I'll be paying taxes. But I guess the main difference from everyone here is that I come from an SMC, or single-member constituency, where the majority of the people have decided to pick a 'Teochew nang' (dialect for Teochew person) who doesn't wear a white uniform. So, my question is: Why are we penalised for our choice of MP? PM Lee: How are you penalised? Student: When it comes to upgrading, what is being told to us is that we don't have the funds to actually go ahead with lift upgrading, as well as shelters to the bus stops. When I look across the road to Aljunied GRC, they have everything. (Audience laughs) PM Lee: Low Thia Khiang says they have no difficulty funding the lift upgrading programme. Mr Seah: No, my question is... PM Lee: Your question is, why is the opposition ward not treated at least as good, or maybe even better than the PAP ward? And the answer is that there has to be a distinction. Because the PAP wards supported the Government and the policies which delivered these good things. All the basics apply to everybody - your roads, your trains, your houses, your schools, your hospitals, your security and defence. But the extras - which come down to the upgrading programmes - it's a national programme. Between the people who voted and supported the programme and the Government, and the people who didn't, I think if we went and put yours before the PAP constituencies, it would be an injustice. Mr Seah: So, having said that, can I pay less tax, and maybe take one or two years off my NS? (Audience laughs, applauds) PM Lee: You are... (laughs, pauses, more laughter from the audience) How shall I put this? If you are on an offshore island and not part of the SAF security defence, such a thing could be imagined. But the SAF, defence, taxes, all the facilities which have been provided, go to everybody. Priority, first and second, who comes first, who has to wait. Somebody has to wait. Moderator: Okay... Can we have the next question? PM Lee: (Interrupts) But you can do something about it, you know. You don't have to keep voting for people not in white-on-white. (More laughter from the audience)

  5. Dear all, An accident happened along Hougang Ave 2 just outside the SPC Kiosk on the 6th Jan 2011. The victim, a sole bread winner, just passed away today leaving behind his wife and 2 young children who are still schooling. I do not have much info on this accident as the victim was not related to me. I was told that the victim was riding on his motorcycle with his wife as a pillion and was on the left most lane when a car swerved into his lane to turn into SPC kiosk. Anyone whom witness the accident please provide your statement to the police. Thank you and god bless his soul.

Hope the 2 victims got witnesses to help them: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...ey_carpark.html STOMPer Mrs Goh is irked that an irresponsible driver damaged two cars in a hit-and-run accident that happened in a multi-storey carpark in Hougang. In her email, Mrs Goh quipped: "Two parked cars in Hougang multi-storey carpark were damaged by a hit-and-run driver on Sunday, Sep 19. "It probably happened during in the morning. 16. Hi Guys, 1. I just sold 2 of my properties and I'm ready to move into a HDB estate. Didn't expect to sell off so quickly (make some monies) and it seems that the market is still doing pretty well. Shall wait till 2010 and move into the market again. 2. After some considerations (though I really hate CTE), I'm more or less zoom in at Hougang area because didn't want to move too far away from kid's school, near relatives and the prices are not that expensive in Hougang. Looking at those along the 2 MRT stations, Kovan and Hougang. Now I've some preliminary questions about these places and hope that the Hougang dwellers can help me . a) In term of choice of location for amenities, which HDB estate is better? Kovan or Hougang? b) Which are the choice blocks in these two areas. Must be near MRT, easier to sell next time. c) Which one has better shopping facilities and probably near good primary schools? d) Are those blocks near the MRT very old or new? e) Would parking be an issue? Heard many horrid stories about MSCP in HDB. f) How do they wash car and do detailing in MSCP? g) Are all cars in HDB using that blue decal for parking purposes? 3. Do feel free to drop me some useful tips too. Thank you very much. Regards,
  17. Around 11pm, me and wife decided to go for supper (after 4 kids have slept). Left Hougang Central and head towards CTE. Around 11:15pm, stop on the center lane along Hougang Ave 2 & Ave 8 junction as traffic light is red for me. Light turn green and suddenly a old uncle start to cycle along the pedestrian crossing from my left, I stop and quickly take a quick glance at my right side mirror. A red Mz3 on my right lane wasn't slowing down when approaching the junction, I quickly blast my horn (2 pairs of Steble Magnum + 1 stock disc = 5 horns) at the uncle cyclist and he stop momentary and lucky wasn't knock down my the Red Mz3. Before I move off, I shouted to the uncle in hokkien "uncle, red light don't cross, uncle, very dangerous ah!!!" here is the video taken from my N95 and just to let you all know, the handphone is mounted on a holder all the time when I drive.

    Hougang fire

just saw the channel 8 program which covers the recent hougang fire which killed 2 siblings. it seems tat 4 yrs ago (2003) the victims' father had appeared on tv to share about his concern about shop owners placing their goods at the footway obstructing residents and blocking the way in the event of emergency.. why is it tat 4 yrs later the issue still not rectify and cause 2 person to get killed in the fire? i wonder wat the town council and the MP had been doing the past 4 years. many "good" years ahead indeed.
  23. Vandal caught scratching car in Hougang By Wong Mun Wai, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 12 June 2007 2104 hrs SINGAPORE: Tired of being victims of a vandal, Hougang resident Ang Shuenn Guan and his wife decided to set up a camera to capture evidence. And it worked - one video clearly showed a hand running beside a car. The person who was filmed vandalising the resident's car later confessed to the police. "My wife showed his photo to him and asked if he recognised the person. He was surprised and asked [how] we got his photo. My wife asked him what he did to our car. He said he did nothing. After that, I said everything is recorded by closed circuit TV. Then he confessed in front of the police," said Mr Ang. The next morning, a letter was left on the couple's windscreen. The letter-writer had offered to settle the matter out of court and compensate the couple for the damage. The letter from the culprit's wife addressed to the Ang's read: "I am pleading with you to give our family a chance". The letter is dated Monday, and continues with her hoping to "settle this matter among ourselves". The offer does not address the damages done to other cars which have also been scratched. Mr Ang, who called the MediaCorp News hotline, had to fork out about S$6,000 for repair works. It is not the first time cars in this area have been scratched. Victims say the vandal targets cars belonging to those who live in Block 636, Hougang Avenue 8. - CNA/yy http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin.../281786/1/.html
