  1. any people around here bought a hyundai from KMC before??? wonder how many coe bids then you manage to get your car??? mi just failed to get the coe from yesterday's bidding. then at nite the SE called and ask to top up $2k for open cat coe. but i did a check and found that open cat was onli $900+ more than cat a. it is abit too much to top up rite. then this morning he called again and this time he says i need to top up onli $1.5k. still too high. and somehow i felt cheated . felt that the car company purposely bid low and ask customers to top up so they can earn more. did a check with a fellow accent fren. according to him, he also suffer the same fate as mi. and the worst part is that until the sixth bid, he still failed to secure a coe. onli then KMC offer him the open cat at no extra charge. somemore my dad also order the same car as mi... if one car was to top up $1.5k... then we would have to fork out an extra of $3k for 2 cars. even more lugi liao... think this incident totally spoilt my new car mood. was thinking of canceling the order. cos with the top up, i would rather got for the vios man... but too bad... now i had signed on the dotted line. have to see my fate for the remaining 5 bids. so was wonder anyone of u guys suffer the same fate as mi??? normally how many attempts did you guys secure a coe. especially one through KMC. thanx and appreciate your feedback...
  2. I just went to collect my deposit receipt from my SE... at the same time he pass mi the agreement form (blue form)... but there is something fishy about the price listed... it states a sub-total of $76000 whereas the agreed price is $59554... i question the SE about the price and he says that it is normal practice to put a higher price so it is easier to get bank loan... dunno how true is it... find it fishy... so would like to check if anyone of u faced the same thing??? especially those who got a matrix recently please help... it roughly states that: Bass price of vehicle - ARF: $59385 Registration fees: $140 Road Tax (6mth): $475 Radio licence (6 mth): inclusive COE: $16000 GST: inclusive Sub-Total: $76000 so did any of you guys receive the same thing??? if yes, then at least i can set my mind free... if not i scare wait the agent demands that i pay $76000 for the car then i die liao... please help... thanx...

  4. Hi I am in the process of considering hyundai matrix. However was caution by some people about the reliability of hyundai engine. One of my friends said that hyundai engine tends to develope problem after 2-3 years. And he recommended to sell the car after 3 years. Personally I am looking for car that can last me about 5-7 years. Me not a sales person, just a car to get work and bring my family out. Hyundai matrix seems to be preferred choice for me. I'm fully aware of the fuel comsumption. All matrixian out there, any comments? Would appreciate frank comment please. For all i know, Matrix hit Singapore in 2001. So now is 2004. Any problem with the engine?

  7. Hyundai unveils new HCD8 Sports Tourer Concept Vehicle Hyundai USA has issued the following press release: Hyundai today unveiled the newest concept vehicle from the Hyundai Kia Design and Technical Center, the stylish and functional HCD8 sports tourer. The HDC8 is the newest concept vehicle from the Hyundai Kia Design and Technical Center Design studio and is the first concept vehicle to come from Hyundai's new $30 million Design and Technical Center in Irvine, Calif. "The Hyundai HCD8 sports tourer was designed to address the sporty car market and still meet the values and needs of today's consumer," said Joel Piaskowski, Chief Designer at the Hyundai Kia Design and Technical Center. The design team used marketing research from Hyundai Motor America to design a sporty vehicle that offers more flexibility, more usable space and easier access for passengers and cargo. "The HCD8 is designed to be a high-performance daily driver," Piaskowski added. "We also stayed true to core Hyundai asset of making it a good value - the HCD8 offers more value within its market segment," he added. The HCD8 showcases the professional design capabilities of Hyundai's state-of-the-art, world-class design studio in Irvine, California. STYLE "The HCD8 is a conceptual design model used to evaluate the design, package and proportion of the next generation sports coupe," said Chris Zarlenga, Design Manager on the HCD8 project. "The HCD8 has graceful, flowing lines. The surfaces of the vehicle have the volume and shape to retain some classicism of a sports car. We also worked with surfaces and lines that stir the inner emotions of passion, romance and performance. We arranged the graphic components to signal strength, attitude and power," Zarlenga added. Highlighting the exciting design elements is the Ballistic Yellow tri-color paint from Nippon. The body color is complemented with anthracite color ground effects trim and road wheels. The exterior trim is polished nickel. The interior is finished with two-tone Vapor Gray leather seating surfaces accented by wood flooring and wood and aluminum accented steering wheel rim and shift lever knob. The aluminum trim is accented with a nickel finish. "We wanted to contrast the rich, luxurious interior against the Ballistic Yellow exterior," said Zarlenga. ARCHITECHURE "The HCD8 pushes the architecture and package to the limit," Zarlenga said. "This provides a new and exciting proportion that can accommodate the needs of the concept," he explained. "To increase accessibility to the rear seat we lengthened the door apertures and by increasing the height of the rear profile and optimizing storage space, we were also able to add interior utility." The designers also stretched the Day Light Opening (DLO -- a designer's term for the side glass) for increased side and rear visibility. They also increased the wheelbase by 100mm (in the dash-to-axle dimension) to achieve classic sports car proportion. Overall, the styling combines soft flowing surfaces with crisp, taut lines. PERFORMANCE The HCD8 with its supercharged 2.7-liter V6 engine, 6-speed manual transaxle and tuned dual exhaust provides performance to match its styling. For real world driving, the driver can adjust the ride height a total of four inches through the air suspension. The vehicle can sit low for high-speed touring or can be raised to handle inclement weather, avoid parking wheel stops, handle a car wash or any other situation where additional ground clearance is needed. The HCD8 also features state-of-art lighting. The LPI-supplied optics use Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology from Osram Opto Semiconductor to illustrate how future automotive lighting systems will work. The LED lights burn brighter, and are more energy efficient than current lighting systems. In addition, they are expected to last for the life of the vehicle. Unlike incandescent bulbs, LED lighting performance does not deteriorate during its life. HYUNDAI BRAND VALUES "Hyundai is about being bold and different in an automotive market that is not usually willing to take risks. Determination is also a core Hyundai corporate value," Piaskowski said. "The company has, in just 18 years, become the fourth largest import brand in the U.S." "Hyundai's dramatic growth has been fueled by being bold and different while offering customers greater value at a lower price point. Now we are taking that to a new design level," he said. "The HCD8 represents what a next-generation sports car from Hyundai could be, It is bold and different. It crosses boundaries within its intended price point and market segment. It offers the consumer an alternative to the expected." The HCD8 also illustrates the development of Hyundai's visual character. "We view the HCD8 as an instrument to design exploration and design development, Zarlenga explained. "The design team examined Hyundai's design portfolio for a brand building opportunity. They used the face of the Elantra, the grace of the Sonata and the stance of the Tiburon as inspiration. The high quality interior design of Hyundai's current production vehicles was also an influence." Over the years the face of the Elantra has evolved to be more dramatic, yet still retains the 'furled brow' look of the headlamps. The graceful lines and surfaces of the Sonata have been elongated and exploited to promote a sense of beauty and power. With the Tiburon, the stance has been stretched and widened to add to its overall road presence. All of these Hyundai style attributes were catalysts in the design development of the HCD8. MARKETING "In the U.S., the sporty coupe segment is viewed as a flat or even a declining market" Piaskowski observed. "For this segment to grow, the vehicles must evolve to meet the needs of consumers. Their diverse lifestyles require vehicles with increased accessibility, more functionality and more cargo volume. The HCD8 is designed to appeal to 'youthful minded professionals' who want a great looking, high performance sports coupe with added the added functionality they need," he said. "We used the findings from HMA Marketing and Product Planning studies and incorporated them into the HCD8 sports tourer. This vehicle could be a first-time purchase or an addition to a fleet of household vehicles. Our consumer target is someone who is youthful minded and passionate about their cars and their driving experience," he said. **************

  10. 2003 Hyundai Elantra - Elantra Quick Change - Those designers at Hyundai just don't know when to stop. They've come up with another new Elantra, and these are the first official pictures of it. Unveiled in Korea two weeks ago, the car - badged Avante in its home market - will be exported worldwide later this year, even though UK buyers are only just getting used to the current model. As a result of this latest facelift, both the four-door saloon and the hatch have increased in size. In an attempt to give the Elantra a sportier look, there are new lights front and rear, reworked bumpers, a revamped radiator grille and a boot spoiler. Inside, there's revised seat upholstery, larger instrument gauges, an LED trip computer and more storage areas. The engine range for the UK is not likely to change, with 1.6 and 2.0-litre powerplants on offer. Variable-valve timing technology - offering better acceleration and economy plus lower emissions - will be an option. And, best of all, prices aren't likely to change, with the car costing from

  13. Hi , Wow, quite some time never 'really' log in liao.....That time still at the 'digging' information stage and after getting Getz for almost 3 months, I must say the feelings are really GREAT ...even better today when I realize that my mum is like suppose to meet up with my cousin and somehow 'missing' so I quickly rush home, driving of course, to check out just in case she fainted or something.....end up false alarm but make me realise how convenient it is to have a car, or rather, an affordable one that doesn't give me nightmare every month when bill comes plus all the convenient shopping, meeting ups, east coast, airport, mid-night shows etc hee heee BUt still 'lost' 5k bcos of COE drop. DAMN And after 3 months, really got over that 'without ABS', 'without airbag' paranoid stage liao. Not saying these are not impt, of course they are, but $$$ counts so w/o all these, I try to drive very carefully lor esp on rainy days. And feel that really absorbed very very relevant information out of this website in all areas, all the different aspects about cars, every single brand, from a local point of view. Plus other websites of course like getzclub.com and matrix club. No regrets about buying Getz instead of Matrix, esp now matrix launches new colours and all that soon after I got Getz UGH.......... . I'm not an expert of cars but find it comfortable and overall ok, no complaints......yet. Happy & safe driving...Ciao P.S: Great, I'm clutched liao instead of newbie
  14. hi everyone How the fuel consumption of hyundai coupe 2.7/2.0? they said its around 8km/l is it true???? by the way what is cvvt engine huh???
  15. http://www.supercars.net/PicFetch?pic=2003_hyundai_css-1.jpg Based upon the admired Tiburon V6, the CCS Convertible study is a highly appealing exploration of styling and technical possibilities demonstrated by its unique three-phase slide and fold glass roof developed by renowned convertible and cabriolet specialists Karmann of Osnabruck. At the touch of a button the driver can change from glass roof, to open roof to complete top-down convertible. The result is a car matched to any weather conditions, giving maximum occupant comfort and designed to impress, whether parked au cafe or cruising the countryside. It also previews many aspects of convertible interior and exterior styling and packaging, many of which may well influence the design of future Hyundai cars. Roof In folding hardtop roof terminology, the slide and folding roof system of the Hyundai CCS is the third generation. The first generation was the typical metal folding roof, the second the retractable glass roof. This third generation builds on the experience gained with the first two and refines it to offer maximum choice of open-air motoring. In mixed weather the driver merely touches one button to send the glass roof sliding back over the rear window. By sliding outside, rather than inside, this maximises rear headroom. At this stage the side supports remain in position, so if the weather changes the roof slides quickly and smoothly back to the closed position. From open roof to full top-down convertible demands only the touch of a second button. This folds the rear screen with the forward roof supports under the forward opening rear decking while adjusting the sliding roof panel in relation to them to give maximum luggage space. And it's also remote controlled. The whole process is elegantly engineered and appears deceptively simple, the key to its superiority over preceding designs. The system has less moving parts and less pivot points than earlier systems, resulting in reduced extra weight (less than 140kg over Tiburon) and the rear shelf moves only in a single plane rather than lifting or twisting. One fascinating aspect of the roof is the potential for further development. Solar panels, or similar energy sources, are more easily assimilated than into more complex structures. Other materials, and lining methods, can be incorporated without compromising the essential benefits of the structure, so adding even more flexibility. Sytling Using the acclaimed styled Tiburon as a basis has helped ensure that the CCS is attractive, the most noticeable styling changes predictably aft of the doors. The slightly raised level of the boot lid/rear decking fits the folded roof while still offering the largest boot volume in the sector. Harmonious modifications to the rear flanks, taillights and front headlight clusters have been achieved, preserving the car's distinctive lines. New 18 inch, 15-spoke alloy wheels with 225/40 x 18 Michelin tyres give a lighter and sportier outlook. A new colour finish, Warm Silver, was developed while the paintwork shimmers with glass micro-elements. The Hyundai CCS is a car styled to appeal to the emotions. A car that looks just as good in the car park as on the highway, a car which expresses a distinct personality and a degree of personal confidence without being aggressive. Interior The whole concept of the CCS Convertible is designed to give a feeling of airy space, freedom and excitement combined with personal control over precisely how much open air or weather the occupants want. This is most appreciable from inside. Both the steering wheel and dashboard are trimmed in brown leather, adding tactile sophistication to an already well appointed and sportive office. The metallic elements, including the ventilation and a/c outlets, speaker surrounds, bezels etc., have been specially treated with a warm glow process that blends them discreetly into this ambience, again adding an extra element of refinement. A premium 280W Becker sound system and Infinity speakers provide appropriate aural pleasures. The brown leather trimmed seats feature woven and ventilated central inserts and the front seats are Tiburon's supportive sports style items developed with Recaro, with eight-way adjustment and memory system. The rear seats have been slightly modified to accommodate the new roof system, but the rear passenger space remains an object lesson in good convertible interior packaging. Boot capacity is an impressive 443 litres with the roof closed and 244 litres with it folded. Powertrain The CCS delivers zestful performance thanks to Hyundai's well-proven Delta 2.7 litre, all alloy quad-cam V6 which transmits up to 127kW of power and 245 Nm of torque through an Aichi-built six-speed close-ratio gearbox as fitted to the Tiburon V6. Chassis, Safety Due to the intrusion of the roof into the boot and the need to maximise boot capacity, the rear suspension was shortened and rearranged to give a supple but precise ride without losing the long travel smoothness and compliance of Tiburon's suspension. In terms of passive safety, Karmann have provided the CCS Convertible with rigidity almost matching Tiburon levels by drawing on its experience of building over two million open cars since 1949 and all of the advanced safety features of Tiburon. Highlights Unique glass slide and fold roof Triple mode choice: Closed, Open, or Full Convertible Remote roof control with fully automatic boot lid system New Warm Silver paintwork with micro glass chips New front and rear lights Radius R3 18 alloy wheels with Michelin 225/40x18 tyres 2+2 configuration preserved Woven leather seat inserts Leather trimmed dashboard & steering wheel Warm glow metallic interior trim elements Climate Control Story by Hyundai Automotive
