  1. Is this another case of drivers having ego issues? Or was the driver of the Toyota Hiace simply not paying attention? Posted on SG Road Vigilante's Facebook page is this video of two drivers exiting into the KPE via a merging lane. We have no idea why would either driver would allow such a silly accident to happen to themselves. In our reckoning, the accident probably happened at less than 20km/h with the Hiace mini van slowing going into the rear of the Hyundai Elantra as the lane merges into a single one. Is the trouble of needing to waste time and money to get both vehicles repaired worth it? We think not. Giving way to the other vehicle and/or paying attention on the road is a way smarter option in our opinion...
  2. This morning saw a White starex Taxis. Is big and nice .. Is it in the Showroom. Come July came consider it as the Govt reduce the Tax for it for private use.
  3. SINGAPORE - The vacuum left by Dyson has been filled. Hyundai Motor will make electric vehicles (EVs) at a plant in Jurong slated to be up and running by 2022. The South Korean carmaker's choice to pick Singapore as a manufacturing location is an unprecedented one. "It is the first time we are picking a country which does not have a car manufacturing industry," an insider told The Straits Times. Mr Teo Hock Seng, executive chairman of Hyundai distributor Komoco Motors, said the manufacturing of EVs here is a significant milestone. "For us, the most important thing is Hyundai will be made in Singapore," he said. He added that plans for the plant germinated four years ago, during Komoco's 30th anniversary. High-ranking executives from Hyundai came and met Ministry of Trade & Industry representatives. "They talked about autonomous vehicles," Mr Teo said, adding that the Economic Development Board (EDB) then followed up and "encouraged Hyundai to invest in a smart factory in Singapore". He said Komoco targets to sell 5,000 to 6,000 of the 30,000 electric cars made here a year, and Hyundai will export the rest. Hyundai will start with an electric compact crossover, which sources say might be called the Ioniq 3. Groundbreaking for the plant in Bulim Avenue is slated for October. The plant will be within a 28,000 sq m Hyundai Mobility Global Innovation Centre, which is a multi-function facility that will carry out R&D and training, among other things. Construction was supposed to have started in May, but has been delayed by Covid-19. The facility will be a modern complex with swathes of solar panels, and will be a test-bed for highly-automated, data-driven "smart manufacturing". A Hyundai Motor spokesman said: "When realised, Hyundai's new manufacturing platform will help make automotive plants safer and greatly diminish the physical burden for workers, using manpower only where necessary." The facility will also carry out artificial intelligence research, investment activities, and trial new mobility services. Hyundai is also expected to team up with local partners, such as universities to carry out hydrogen fuel cell and autonomous driving research. Without being specific, the spokesman said the facility will create "hundreds of jobs". He would not reveal the investment sum. EDB executive vice-president Tan Kong Hwee said: "Technological advancements are transforming the mobility sector with an increase in adoption of electric, connected, and autonomous vehicles. "Attracting quality investments arising from these emerging trends is part of our strategy to grow Singapore's mobility ecosystem. "This will not only create exciting job opportunities for Singaporeans, but also benefit adjacent industries which are already well-established here." This week, Hyundai announced that it will launch a range of numerically named EVs under the Ioniq brand name. The first will be the Ioniq 5, a midsize crossover based on the concept 45. It will launch early next year. In March 2022, the Ioniq 6 sedan, which is based on the Prophecy concept, will be unveiled, followed by the Ioniq 7, a large SUV, in early-2024. The Singapore-made car is expected to be the yet-to-be-announced Ioniq 3. More details are expected in October. British home appliance maker Dyson announced in October 2018 that it would make electric cars in Singapore, only to pull the plug on the venture a year later.
  4. http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/article.php?AID=15533 new turbocharged 1.6-litre T-GDI engine, which will be available in Singapore in the fourth quarter of this year, comes with a new seven-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) and will deliver a responsive drive of up to 175bhp.
  5. My current ride will be scrapping in December, am considering between the Elantra S and Cerato EX not ruling out other options looks the Jazz 1.5 The Hyundai is at the tail end of its current facelift with 2019 model already announced. Whereas the Cerato is a brand new facelift. Was actually quite biased against against Kia before yesterday as I totally hated the old Cerato, forte, and k3. So my test drive for the Cerato was pretty biased also. Until yesterday after I paid a second visit to Hyundai, then decided to pop by C&C just to look at the c4 cactus, the Cerato was parked outside. The more I look at it, the more the looks grow on me. So went inside the showroom again, have a sit inside the Cerato’s cabin......is like totally win the Elantra many times over. I don’t reallly mind the exterior of the Elantra S but I find the interior very dated. The Cerato EX cost more, but the equipment level is close to the Elantra elite. Weight wise, the Elantra is 100kg heavier Engine wise, the Cerato is using an older generation engine. (This is my main concern) I test drive both cars, but am unable to get any head on conclusion as I went to test drive the Elantra at leng kee and the Cerato at ubi. I don’t know is it psychological, but the Hyundai felt smoother and picks up abit easier. The additional 50l boot space of the Cerato doesn’t concern me much.
  6. Maybe they were in a rush or had some emergency to attend to? But no matter what it is, there is still almost no excuse to cross the road when the lights tell you not to. 2 young teens were knocked down by a taxi along Paya Lebar road on 1st of Oct 2020 as they crossed the road while the light wasn't in their favour. The 17 year-old female pedestrian was conscious when taken to Raffles Hospital while the male refused to be taken to hospital according to The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). He seemed to suffer from some bleeding from his knee but was still able to move around on his own. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, said the police. Check out the various angles of the accident video on SG Road Vigilante.
  7. Now this can be a scary sight for those living close to the incident. A Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid taxi has apparently caught fire caught fire in an open air carpark at Block 201 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 on 18 September. As reported by Stomp, flames and smoke can be seen engulfing a black car (likely a Seat SUV) and nearly catching a Toyota Hiace van that narrowly managed to escape. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were alerted to the fire at 10.55pm and they managed to "extinguish the fire using one water jet and three compressed air foam backpacks," said an SCDF spokesman. The cause of fire is under investigation and no injuries have been reported.
  8. Seems like KMC will be launching the Hyundai Venue in SG pretty soon, comes in 2 options (Base & 'S" variants). 9. Just bought a used Hyundai Elantra 2011 model. Left about 2 years. So far quite a comfy drive. Pumped full tank about closed to 40litre. Not sure how much distant it can cover though. Any Elantra users here to share more info and your good and bad points?

  12. This video has gone viral among the car enthusiasts community in Singapore. A white Hyundai i30 has been filmed by the camera car's passenger showing the Korean car cutting across lanes recklessly with signaling along the SLE. Obviously trying to taunt or block the camera car (an Audi), we have no idea what is the story behind this incident as the video does not come with any audio. The video lasts for 30 seconds and could well have been going on for sometime. We hope nothing bad comes out of this road rage incident. P.S. Dear Hyundai driver, maybe you should watch less video clips on Youtube about Osaka's infamous street racers... ef6b0a0d-6339-4962-9dda-e287bb98811c.MP4

  14. The new Veune is Hyundai's newest member into its SUV family and its first in the sub-compact SUV segment. In our video review, Julian and Jon go through what they think about the styling of the sub-compact crossover. On to practicality, it looks like the Venue's boot is not exactly deep... In this 'S' variant, you get an interior that matches the exterior paint colour. Check out Julian's view of the layout and build quality. And of course, we proceed to give you our driving impressions on video! Seems like Jon is a bit upset about something? Could this be your ideal crossover? Or a trendy option for those still looking to upgrade their way to something else larger later in life? Watch the full video to find out!

  17. Hi, I have not been here for a long time! Still driving my Chevrolet Optra and it is still serving me good. However, with prices of cars going down like today's share prices, I am not sure I should hold on to this faithful car. I am looking at the Hyundai Advante advertised at $37,000 and the Mazda 3 at $51,000. Although I am not sure they have included all the necessary costs, the prices look very attractive. Can bros and sisters here share your views? How much should I be asking for my 3.5 years optra? Any good FC around to guide me? Thank you for all the assistance.

  20. Dear All – Hope all is well. It has been a while since I start a new thread. I need some advices on tyre change. I have sleepless nights. I am currently driving a manual Avante 1.6L car. Just this Saturday (4th May) I just changed my 2 old tyres (Kumho) installed in the front, to 2 new one (BFGoodRich Advantage T/A) My previous Kumho was changed on 11 July 2015 at a Mileage or 39800km Last Saturday 4th May 2019, I went to one workshop to request for a tyre rotation service because last November when I went to Komoco to service, they refuse to rotate for me because they told me my Kumho tyres are getting bald head (BOTAK), 2 words from them "NO POINT". In the end under Mechanic’s advice last Saturday (in Bukit Merah Lane), I changed Kumho to BFGoodRich. Kind of confused why need to change now and I cannot find any good review on BFGOODRICH! Per last Saturday, my car Mileage read 79285km (Means my Kumho ran for 39485km approximately. Now the configuration of my Avante is 2 Front tyres is a pair of BFGoodRich 2018 and 2 Back Tyres is a pair of Michelin 2012 (Changed before I change Kumho) My Question now is Is it necessary to change my Back Tyres to a pair of new one? Should I use back BFGoodRich? The threading still left a lot to use. Is Michelin brand. Hence I just want to confirm can we use a 7 years old Tyres? I went to Sin Ming one of the Motor shop to request to change BFGoodRich from front to back so that I want to wear off the Michelin pair when I put them in front, Uncle told me he refused to change because Michelin ones are 2012. He told me his has a strong principle being a professional car mechanic, what happen if after he changed and then my car got into accident? May I know what are my options? I have sleepless nights after I changed to BFGoodRich. Because I intend to change all four to GoodYear which I have been researching for months that Good Year are fuel efficient tyres. Option1: Change Michelin to BFGoodRich? Option2: remain same configuration under COE ends? Option3: Change all 4 tyres to GoodYear? Option4: Sell my car now and get a 7 seater? My COE ending 2020 May next year. Mileage done is still less 80k. one Full Tank 45L I can clock 700km per 1 pump of 95. I only drive on Sat and Sun. Mine is a OPC. Thank you.

  23. Hyundai Motor Group has announced that it has developed a “world-first technology” that improves gear-shift efficiency for hybrids. Developed in-house and set to go into production soon, the new technology is called Active Shift Control (ASC) and the Korean company claims that it can reduce gearshift timing by 30% , improving the driving experience and fuel ecomony at the same time. In its press release, the new ASC claims the new technology increases durability of the transmission by minimizing friction during gear shift, which in turn is montiored 500 times per second, “precisely adjusting the transmission rotation speed for faster shift times,” By aligning the rotational speeds of the engine and transmission gear shift times are reduced by up to 30 percent from 500 milliseconds to 350 milliseconds. Despite quicker shift times, ASC is said to deliver smoother gear changes as well. The first model to feature ASC will be the new Sonata Hybrid which has been launched in Korea.
