  1. Dear all, my bro's impreza bugeye needs a shock absorber change. He want to change back to original one. Anyone know what brand does Subaru uses and whether got lobang or not?
  2. Any comments from those who has test driven both? Test drove both over the weekend; also Honda Civic and Optra. I prefer the 3 and TS in terms of the drive, comfort, handling, looks and the X factor (of course provided budget is not an issue). The Civic didn't wow me enough although it didnt do too badly in the test drive. Just felt that it was just about average. Optra was quite a surprise. Very quiet and steady right, feels continental. Gear change was smooth and responsive too. However, din quite like the look and the interior.
  3. my stock TS rims and tyres had been used for about one year but they are still in very good condition. can they be trade in if i bring them to pxx xxxg?
  4. how to change the spark plug for impreza 04?
  5. I myself a 1.6TS drive. i bought my car in 04. i did ot make any changes to the car yet. i am experience wind noise at around 120km/h izzit normal. i suspect there's problem in the sound insulation system of the car. i looked around the car and discovered that the rubber in between the glass window and the frame of the car seems to be whitish and stretchy. Seems that it have start to deteriotate. Is it normal? all the 1.6TS out there with the stock rim and tyre(michelin energy XH-1) do you find that this tyre is extremely noisy. mine is exceptionally noisy can you all give me your view? Thanks
  6. Hi, i'm on the verge of buying a Subaru Impreza 1.6M (Year 98). If nothing goes wrong, will probably sign the deal this week. Would like to seek the advice from ppl who know this car. 7. Sing to the tune of Baz Lurhmann's Everybody has the right to wear sunscreen. Taken from here: http://www.uniquemotorsports.com/...s/impreza_rights.htm If I could offer you only one tip for the future, buying an Impreza would be it. The long-term benefits of driving an Impreza have been consistently misunderstood by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own driving experience. I will dispense this advice now. Enjoy the power and beauty of your Impreza. Oh, never mind. You will not understand the power and beauty of your Impreza until something better is built. But trust me, in 20 years, you'll look back at photos of yourself beside your Scooby and recall in a way you can't grasp now how fast you drove and how fabulous the handling really was. You are not as fast as you imagine. Don't worry about where the next litre of fuel is coming from. Or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to beat Richard Burns on a special stage. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your Impreza-addled mind, like the unexpected lack of grip on some isolated mountain pass. Drive around 1 corner every day that scares you. Clean the seat afterwards. Be reckless when driving other people's Scoobies. Don't put up with people who are reckless when driving yours. Polish it. Don't waste your time on super-unleaded. Sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind. The race is long and, in the end, it's only petrol. Make up compliments on your driving. Return the insults. If you succeed in getting genuine compliments, tell me how. Keep your old MOT's. Throw away your old exhaust. Don't feel guilty if you don't know when you'll get rid of the boy-racer in your life. The most interesting people I know didn't know at 22 when they would stop being a boy-racer. Some of the most interesting 40-year-olds I know still are. Eat plenty of kebabs but don't eat them in the car. You'll never get rid of the smell Be kind to your ScoobySport exhaust. You'll miss that when it's gone. Maybe you'll pull, maybe you won't. Maybe you'll get a 22B, maybe you won't. Maybe you'll enter the RAC Rally at 40, maybe you'll drive around Silverstone, nude, at your 75th SIDC Reunion. Whatever you do, congratulate yourself far too much and berate others. Your choice of motor-car is half partner influenced. So is everybody else's. Enjoy your Impreza. Use it every way you can. Don't be afraid of it or of what the lads might think of it. Its not THAT ugly. It's probably the only time you'll ever be able to drive fast. Race. Even if you have no one else to race against but an old biddy in a Mini 850 still do it but expect the occasional humbling experience. Ignore the directions to Prodrive, don't ever follow them. Do not read Max Power, just cut out the pictures and put them on your wall. Get to know your parents. You never know when you'll have to tap them for some cash for your next performance upgrade Be nice to Pete Croney. He's your best link to a faster Impreza and the person most likely to relieve you of a serious amount of dosh. Understand that Impreza models come and go, but with some decent modifications you should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in strength and consistency, because the older you get, the harder it will be to drive 'round corners like when you were young. Drive in London once, but leave before you become a pimp. Drive in Liverpool once, but leave before your Impreza gets stolen. Grin.Accept certain inalienable truths: You will get older. Fuel prices will rise. Traffic cops will pull you over. You, too, will get a speeding ticket. And when you do, you'll fantasize that when you were young, fuel prices were reasonable, jam sandwiches couldn't catch you and speeding tickets were NEVER as expensive as this. Respect psychiatrists. They drive 22B's. Don't assume Admiral will pay up. Maybe you'll have a huge overdraft. Maybe you'll have a wealthy bird. But you never know when either one might stop you from going for a drive that serves no particular purpose and includes some of your favourite country roads. Don't mess too much with superchips or by the time you've reached 10,000 miles your pistons will look like tea-strainers. Be careful whose cheap imports you buy, but be patient with those who supply them. Cheap imports are a form of rip-off. Cheap imports are a way of fishing old stock from the auction, wiping them clean, painting over the accident damage and re-selling them for more than they are worth. But trust me on owning an Impreza.

  11. Back to the future By Bob Jennings The Sydney Morning Herald Wednesday July 7 2004 The next generation Subaru WRX will return the car to its roots: small, agile and quick. The startled look of the "goggle-eyed" Subaru Impreza is unlikely to be seen again -- and the new model due in 2006 will revive the ingredients that made the original a cult car. Subaru has learnt its lesson from the design faux pas it made with the daring 2000 model (pictured), judging by the interest the designer of the next generation Impreza has in the opinion of Australian buyers. Hiroshi Mori, project general manager of Subaru's product planning division, made a discreet visit to Australia recently for the Rally of Canberra. He was there as a guest of Subaru, which sponsored the rally, but his main interest was catching up with local owners at the Subaru WRX Festival (which was on at the same time), who expressed their opinions in no uncertain terms. Australia is Subaru's third-biggest market outside Japan and the US, and Subaru is aware that with successive generations of the Impreza it has become larger, heavier and, in some respects, slower. Potential repeat buyers of the new model have suggested that this is not what they are seeking. Significantly, Mori says previous conservatism and adverse reaction to the controversial "bug-eyed" Impreza had forced a major design rethink and that styling is playing a more important role in the development of the next model Subaru Impreza. "In the past, performance was a priority. Safety and then design were next," Mori says. "But at the time of the introduction of the new Liberty, we realised that design is as important as performance." Subaru is well into the design process of the next generation Impreza, which is due to be introduced in late 2006, and the exterior styling should be signed off before the end of the year. In Canberra, Mori wanted to get a feel for what WRX fans desired from the next Impreza in terms of styling, packaging and performance, although the hard points of these aspects of the vehicle are well on to the way to being locked in. Mori says the next generation Impreza -- and the flagship turbo WRX -- will be "an aggressive" car. Drive's correspondent in Japan, Peter Lyon, reports there are some design staff at Subaru's headquarters who feel the four-door boxy shape is the path Subaru should be going down but they have been overruled by those who believe the next Impreza should be smaller, lighter and more stylish, along the lines of the World Rally Championship contenders such as the Citroen Xsara and Peugeot 307 CC. There are also suggestions in Japan that there will be a smaller, lighter, more compact three-door hatch-like Impreza in the range when it surfaces and the new model will boast performance equal to, if not better, than the current model. Joining the Impreza line-up further into its model life, in five to six years, is expected to be a hybrid-powered version which will link the conventional horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine with an electric motor. When the "goggled-eyed" WRX was released in 2000, the then designer, Mamoru Ishii, rebutted criticism of the car's bold styling and dismissed the original Impreza as boring. When spy photos of the 2000 model appeared, enthusiasts likened the look of the car to everything from a Toyota Corolla to a frightened deer. Many owners on internet chat sites said they would not buy the new model because it had lost its macho image. "I knew there would be negative feeling," Ishii told Drive in September 2000. "The Japanese reports are 50 percent positive and 50 percent negative. "We wanted to give the car some presence. We wanted strong styling and strong character. I will concede that it is dangerous to go too strong and have everybody hate it but I don't think we have crossed that line." Ishii said Europe was the biggest design influence. "We've tried to capture [the essence of] Mercedes, Porsche and Jaguar," he said.
  12. Hi, anybody know a good place to get bodykits for the bugeye Impreza? Does Motorimage sell their "agent kit"? But would it be cheaper from other workshops? Also, am interested in changing my bugeye headlights to the black STI one. McWell charging about $1300 for it. Who else does it? Thanks.
  13. Last Tuesday, I just sent my car to the spray painting workshop for touch up so i flipped through the papers to look for a budget car which can lasts me for 3 days. Finally I found a 2001 Subaru Impreza 1.6 (bugeye model) at only $80 per day n only requires me to put a deposit of $100. They can even send the vehicle to you wherever you are n collect from you at your doorsteps with no extra charge. Sounds tempting isn't it? So I called and reserved one within one hour, the navy blue Subaru Impreza was at my doorsteps. The car was cool with fog lights and even a sunshade with the word Subaru sticked on it. It even comes with a spoiler and nobody can tell it was a rented car. Afta signing the agreement, I drove out for a spin. The pick up was good and the cornering was steady. The next night, I drove out with my friends and since at that time, it was already 3 plus, i decided to test the top speed. So i rammed hard on the accelerator and the car went charging. However when the speed was closed to 150km/h, the acceleration began to slow down n the moment, it hit 150km/h, it stay put there. What a let down! I was still thinking to get a Subaru Impreza after my car was scraped but I guessed I have to change my mind. Is there a speed cut done to the car? I don't know. What about you guys?
  14. is honda Civic better or subaru impreza better???
  15. My neighbour's fierce looking Impreza's spoiler is very useful. He parks the car head in (with the back of the car nearest the gate and in the sunlight) . . then using the spoiler to (would you believe it?) HANG LAUNDRY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ** Wish I have a digital camera - then can show you how good wet nappies look.
  16. Subaru Lifts Lid On Impreza Roadster he boxy bodywork is heading for the history books - Subaru has unveiled this stunning roadster, which is design-ed to match the dynamics of the legendary Impreza with a great new look. The two-seater is the most powerful indication yet as to where the company's design department is heading. Inspired by the radical B11S, unveiled at this year's Geneva Motor Show, and inheriting a grille reminiscent of Alfas from more than 40 years ago, the B9 Scrambler is the first complete prototype to be penned under the guidance of former Alfa Romeo chief designer Andreas Zapatinas. A coincidence? Subaru won't be drawn, but styling hints from European car makers are becoming big news at the Japanese company, where bosses are keen to establish a strong reputation for product design. As if to drive the point home, the car to be unveiled at next week's Tokyo Motor Show comes with an iridescent windscreen to reflect all the colours of the rainbow in sunlight. Drawing on the technology of the Impreza, the 4WD B9 is powered by Subaru's first-ever petrol/electric hybrid engine. This features a four-cylinder boxer unit as well as newly developed SSHEV (Sequential Series Hybrid Electric Vehicle) technology. Unlike conventional hybrid engines, where the petrol unit drives the car and the motor kicks in as required, SSHEV allows the vehicle to run on its electric powerpack alone up to around 50mph. However, when the battery charge falls below a certain level, the petrol engine will engage to recharge it. Measuring 4.20 metres long, 1.88 metres wide and 1.26 metres high, the Scrambler sits on huge 225/55R/19 run-flat tyres. The 2.0-litre boxer unit produces 136bhp at 5,600rpm and 186Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. There's no word on when the car is likely to hit the road, but Subaru engineers say they are keen to gauge public opinion. If the B9 is well received, it could be built within four years. Extra support will come from General Motors, which owns a stake in Subaru. Having axed the VX Lightning project, GM is developing a platform on which to base a family of new roadsters, including a successor to the Vauxhall VX220 and Saab Sonnet sports car. Peter Lyon
  17. This is taken off the latest AutoExpress news........ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fastest Impreza Wings In The fastest Impreza ever developed is set to blast from rally stage to the road later this year, according to Subaru sources in Japan. Company bosses are talking about bringing a limited-edition production version of the Impreza World Rally Car to Japanese showrooms by December. It's known as the WRCar road-going project, and the body will be prepared by Subaru's Isesaki studio. While Isesaki's work is understood to be of the highest quality, the firm has only recently switched operations from manufacturing buses to concentrate on designing special interest, low-volume production models. As strange as this might seem, Isesaki has a long association with tuned Subarus. Most memorably, the company was responsible for the outrageous-looking red-and-black chopped-top Impreza, which was unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January. Lowered by 100mm, the car demonstrated the firm's skills in making complex structural modifications, and its engine tuning expertise. However, according to our insider, the WRCar project will be a more straightforward affair.
  18. Legacy Given The Impreza Treatment What say you bros???.......... Quote: "After terrorising supercar owners with its excellent Impreza STi, Subaru is preparing to move into the big league with this highly tuned edition of the Legacy. These are the first official pictures of the luxurious saloon, which was launched in Japan earlier this week. It is powered by a twin-turbo flat-four engine capable of producing nearly 300bhp. Although the car isn't destined to make an official appearance in the UK through main dealers, grey importers are rubbing their hands in glee. The hot model is expected to go on sale here early next year, priced from
