  2. Another "collision" This time round the MPV driver culprit very balant and did a hit-&-run stunt even being stopped by the father of the victim. Best part is this joker ended at MBS. Rushing there to place bets perhaps? From ST Forum: http://www.straitstimes.com/premium/forum-...clists-20121107 Effective penalties needed against motorists colliding with cyclists Published on Nov 07, 2012 I WAS cycling behind my son at 6.50am on a weekday when he was involved in a collision with a car - a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) - along Nicoll Highway at Republic Ave. A bus driver who was behind my son was quick to stop to offer assistance, but the MPV driver sped away. When I caught up with him, he denied that a collision occurred, and sped off when the lights turned green. I called 999 after trying the Traffic Police hotline without receiving a reply. The ambulance and the police came shortly, and medical aid was given to my son, who had bruises on his right arm and leg, and who was left with a partly damaged bicycle. No traffic policeman was dispatched to track down the driver and I was informed later that the driver and the car was found at Marina Bay Sands. The law does not do enough to protect cyclists, and the penalties are too light to deter errant drivers. The insurance will pay for the damage, and an errant driver gets off all too lightly. The fact that my son's injury was not severe should not mean that the penalty need be less punitive if the driver is found to have erred, and certainly not if he remains in denial and unrepentant about his role in an accident. 3. Ok bros... not too peculiar like got alien invasion etc. Today i'm on leave, and at about 11+ pm, I decided to meet an old friend at his HDB void deck to chit chat (very ah chek i know). I parked my car at a red lot (season parking only).... there were many lots available (70% empty) because its a normal working day. My car remained at most 10-15 metres from where we were chit chatting. then came a non-chinese cyclist within 2 minutes after I parked my car. In his bicycle, he squeezed through my car and the adjacent car even though there were plenty of other spaces for him to cycle. He was dressed very very casually, in an o-biang shirt and shorts, wearing a cap. He had spectacles on. He peered into my car for a good 10 sec, especially at the front windscreen area. Initially, I thought he is a summon officer. But curiosity get the better of me and I continue to observe if he will whip out his summon handheld device. Shortly, he passed my car, steady himself on the bicycle and start riding away. This was when i pressed the unlock button on my remote. It caught him by surprise.... he smiled and rode away. In that split sec, I shouted "what's the problem?" at him. I'm just really curious what was he trying to do? 1) He is a crime watch assistant, trying to report to police post people who anyhow park illegally. 2) He could be a thief, during day-time look into the car, night time break and steal. At my front windscreen area, I have 2 device holder, one for GPS, one for mobile phone. 3) He is a summon person, but decided to give me some allowance. But he is TOTALLY not dressed like one. Everything about him is very unclean. Anyhow has such experience to share?
  4. [sweatdrop] From CNA: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1238207/1/.html Singapore News KKH apologises for baby swap incident By Shing Geok Shan | Posted: 19 November 2012 2012 hrs SINGAPORE: Two new-born babies were wrongly discharged to different mothers at KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) on Sunday. The babies have been reunited with their biological parents and are doing well. KKH said the incident came to light when one of the parents noticed that the baby taken home wore an identification tag belonging to another mother. This happened about an hour after they brought him home. KKH said all babies have double tags, and this baby had an incorrect tag and a correct tag on his legs when he was given to the wrong parents. The hospital suspected that checks were not carried out properly when the baby was being discharged. The other baby, also a boy, was with the wrong parents for about 10 hours. He was wearing two correct tags but was given to the wrong set of parents during discharge. The hospital informed the parents after a blood test of the first baby confirmed the mix-up. It has conducted DNA tests on the babies and is waiting for the results. KKH said on Monday that it deeply regrets this error and is now carrying out thorough investigations to find out how this error occurred. It is extending full support to both families -- medically and emotionally. Both mothers have been offered counselling by the hospital. KKH said it takes a very serious view of the incident and it unreservedly apologised to the parents for this error and pledged to take all steps to prevent any recurrence. A full review is being carried out, and the Ministry of Health has been informed. - CNA/lp
  5. Of three expats in 2010 Suntec fight, one sentenced to jail but two jump bail. THE three expatriates are facing charges over a brawl at Suntec City in 2010, during which four people were assaulted. But two of them have jumped bail and fled Singapore. Robert Stephen Dahlberg, 34, an options broker, fled last July. The New Paper has since learnt that Robert James Springall, 25, also an options broker, absconded while out on bail last December. The trio were charged on July 7 last year and released on bail. Nathan Robert Miller, 35, an Australian business development manager, was sentenced on Monday to three weeks

From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...ers_antics.html Posted on 17 Jun 2012 Watch aggressive driver's antics on road: He sprays water and blocks another car STOMPer Baddy says the driver of this car harassed him on the road, splashing water on his windscreen and then overtaking him suddenly. He then changed lanes a few times to block his car. The STOMPer wrote: "Check out this driver's dangerous and aggressive driving. "He cut into my lane dangerously and sprayed water on my car to provoke me. "He subsequently blocked my way deliberately, mirroring my car's movements. "When I changed lanes to the left, he followed. "Seeing that, I changed back to the right, and he also followed suit."
  9. Instead of showing remorse for causing a near fatal accident, the driver of the Lexus Kelvin Seah Koon Yong posted the news of the accident on his Facebook and even ‘liked’ it! Last Saturday morning, a Lexus beat the red light at a Bugis junction between Rochor Road and Victoria Street ramming into the rear of Sonata taxi. The 30 year old driver Kelvin Seah was charged yesterday for drink-driving and dangerous driving. He was accompanied by his family members who hurled expletives at journalists who tried to interview them. “Why are you kicking up a big fuss over a trivial accident?” one elderly man reported shouted at them outside the court. According to court documents, Kelvin Seah came from a rich family and graduated from Curtin University in Australia. If convicted, he is likely to be jailed and fined. 10. Background. I was involved in an incident yesterday. A car, Honda Accord cut into a single lane entry in front of me into PIE entrance towards Jurong. He cut in really late and by the time he made his move he had passed the white road separator. I drove defensively, braked, let him pass, honked at him and raised my arms in protest. The driver then went berserk and jammed brake in front of me. I crashed into him and a Van crashed into me. THe crashed happened after 20 metres of the entrance, so I had already let him into the entry and was not being a jerk. He intended the accident and the accident happened. The lucky thing is: the vehicle behind me is not a motorcyclist or there could be mortality. Could anyone advise how I can prove his intent without video recording? The Van driver behind me witness the incident and is willing to be my witness. Is he a strong witness? Facts. 1) The dent in front of my car is far far worse than behind. From a physics POV, it could discount the possibility that it was the car behind crashing into me that caused my car to ram into the Honda Accord. 2) I really want this guy to suffer for his deeds. 3) Prior to the incident, the guy cut dangerously into my lane (left most) outside Changi Hospital I let him passed but gave him a short honk because he cut in too close too fast and there were a cyclist in front of him in the lane he is cutting in. That may have upset him, but I stayed in my lane while he cut into the right lane. 4) As a result, because he is a serial lane cutter, he realized he is in the wrong lane and cut in dangerously that led to the whole event.

  13. My fren was trying to reverse slowly out from the carpark. He saw two adult standing next to the rear of this car, so he gave a light 'honk', they stopped and my fren also paused, checked the mirrors again, and continued his slow reversing.... suddenly one of them banged hard on his boot and shouted (*^&*^$&^%*&(*%&% at my fren. My fren blur, got out and asked them why? "Why you reversed when my kid was trying to cross to the other side?".............. and my fren saw one 2yr old standing next to them  Question, when the adults heard the honk and stopped, shouldnt they also stop the kid (knowing that the 2yr-old is shorter than the height of the boot of fren's car, that nobody could see her. My fren apologised and told them he really didnt see the short kid, but added "next time, take care of your kid".............. and drove off
  14. Bus grinds to a halt after fight over phone call By Tham Yuen-C FOR about 20 minutes on Tuesday evening, an in-service SBS Transit bus service 14 stayed put in Mountbatten Road with its doors locked. The cause: an onboard squabble between two passengers that led to one of them allegedly body-slamming the other. The bus driver was following instructions from his head office to pull the double-decker over and keep everyone on board until police investigations were complete. It all started when Ms Rachel Lim, 33, riding on the upper deck of the bus on her way home, called her daughter at 7.55pm to say she would be late because traffic was crawling that wet day. She told The Straits Times she was still on the phone when a Caucasian man, seated with a woman across the aisle from her, tapped her on the shoulder and told her to 'get lost' if she was going to be 'noisy'. She said he also used an expletive and called her a 'slut' more than once. She got off the phone and said she would report him for using vulgarities. She said: 'He asked me to go ahead and do it, so I went downstairs to tell the bus driver.' The driver stopped the bus, and she called the police. After a while, the man came downstairs, demanding to know why the bus had stopped. He became agitated when he realised she had acted on his goading. She said: 'He pressed the bell non-stop, even after he was told that the bus driver could not open the doors.' The man then allegedly tried to prise the doors open. Seeing this, Ms Lim threw herself against the door, but the enraged man slammed himself against her, pinning her to the side of the bus and denting her spectacles. The drama played out in front of about 10 passengers in the lower deck of the bus, said Ms Lim. When the police arrived, both parties gave statements. The man, who is not a tourist, could not be reached for comment. A police spokesman confirmed the incident on Wednesday, saying both parties were advised on their legal recourse. Ms Lim, who intends to press charges, said: 'We need to send a signal that we will not tolerate bullying on the bus.'

  20. On the 23rd, 2 car (my car and my friend's car - total 8 of us) drove up to malaysia for dinner at 2nd link-Gelang Patah. After dinner, went to Jusco for shopping. After shopping, we went to JB Taman Sentosa for massage. Both our car was park at some lighted place for opposite is a big food court near the SHELL station where many Singaporean had their seafood there. After the massage, we went back Singapore safely. Everything seems so normal but the real nightmare started when my friends reach her carpark and informed me that her bag where she put her baby's clothing, bottles and her small pouch with IC, Driving License and credit card and some money were all disappeared. The most strange thing is that her bag is placed in the car boot and the car door was confirm locked when we went to massage. The thing that really puzzled us is that the window or windscreen or any part of the car is not damaged and the bag just disappeared in the boot! One thing i can confirmed that the bag is still with us during our Shopping at Jusco and the bag was placed in the car boot after the shopping. We really have no idea what has happened during our massage and who could have did it where they are many people walking around at that food court. Just our luck meeting a magician who can do magic to open car boot without damaging the car. FYI, our unlucky car which lost the bag is a Honda CIVIC. Do take care of your belonging and be extra careful when you are in JB.
